Juanita T. Brodie
Juanita "Nita" Terrell Brodie, 76, of 189 Sinclair St., Ridgeway, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
She was born in Winston-Salem, N.C., on June 24, 1929, to Joseph Terrell and Florence Carpenter Terrell.
Surviving are her husband, Benjamin T. "B.T." Brodie of the home; four daughters, Toni B. Barrett of Ridgeway, Donna B. Wright and Cindy B. Fain, both of Roanoke and Cheryl Barr of Atlanta, Ga.; a sister, Margaret Davis of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a brother, Richard Terrell of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Norris Funeral Services chapel and other times at the home. The funeral will be private.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.

Herman Byrd
Herman Byrd, 78, of 88 Philpott Dam Road, Bassett, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, at his home.
Collins Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Kester S. Clark
Kester Spencer Clark, 85, of Stuart, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, from injuries received in an automobile accident.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Sheffey Clark.
Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is in charge of arrangements.

Susie W. Cockram
A funeral for Susie Annie Worley Cockram, 93, of Laurel Fork and formerly of Sanville, who died Dec. 3, 2005, was held Tuesday at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, with the Rev. David Bishop officiating. Burial was in the Conner family cemetery in Meadows of Dan.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Edwards Jr., Ricky Hubbard, Willie Cockram, Crow Turner, Julius Cockram and Tommy Struthers.

James Elgin
James Elgin, 90, of Blue Ridge Rehab Center, Martinsville, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005.
Bassett Funeral Service in Bassett is in charge of arrangements.

Nora G. Haskins
Nora Elsie Grubbs Haskins, 91, of 119 Pinnacle Drive, Martinsville, died Monday, Dec. 5, 2005, at her home.
She was born in Pittsylvania County on Aug. 16, 1914, to Charlie E. Grubbs and Emma Tuck Grubbs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Turner Haskins; a daughter, Betty A. Haskins; a son, Jimmy D. Haskins; a granddaughter; four brothers and three sisters. She was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are eight daughters, Shirley H. Hodges of Lynch Station, Frances H. Hutcherson of Lynch Station, Delores H. Donaldson of Collinsville, Alice H. Williams of Eden, N.C., Linda Mae Haskins of Martinsville, Brenda H. Gillenwaters of Martinsville, Carol Dianne Haskins of Altavista and Deborah H. Byrd of Martinsville; three sons, Jerry W. Haskins of Collinsville, Larry J. Haskins of the home and Bobby T. Haskins of Spencer; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Norris Funeral Services chapel with the Rev. Bobby Rakes and Minister Tim Wood officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at the home.

Elizabeth B. Hinton
Elizabeth B. Hinton, 90, of Kings Grant Retirement Community, Martinsville, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005.
McKee-Stone Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Jennifer R. Jones
Jennifer "Jenny" Raye Jones, 56, of Ridgeway, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, at Morehead Memorial Hospital, Eden, N.C.
Community Funeral Services in Ridgeway is in charge of arrangements.

Theodora P. Lester
Theodora "Dotty" Poulos Lester, 62, of 236 Yeatts Road, Martinsville, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005, at her home.
She was born in Pearisburg on April 23, 1943, to Sophis Psathas Panopoulos and James Panopoulos.
She graduated from Radford University and retired as a teacher with the Henry County School system. She attended Abundant Life Fellowship.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her husband, Teddy R. Lester of the home; a daughter, Maria Michelle Lester of Charlotte, N.C.; and a sister, Maria Hawkins of Fredericksburg.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Norris Funeral Services chapel. Burial will be in Christian View Church cemetery in Stoneville, N.C.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mary Morris
Mary Morris, 89, of Stanleytown, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, at Beverly Health Care.
Bassett Funeral Service in Bassett is in charge of arrangements.

Alverta R. Penn
The funeral for Alverta Mae Reynolds Penn, 65, of 103 Crestwood Court, Martinsville, who died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Rock Run Primitive Baptist Church. Elder Russell Redd will officiate. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the church for one hour before the funeral and other times at the home.
She was born in Henry County on Jan. 2, 1940, to Elder David Reynolds and Alberta Spencer Reynolds. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Anthony Reynolds, Harry Reynolds, Walter Reynolds, Garrett Reynolds and Richard J. Rashid; two sisters, Maggie Holt and Mary Reynolds; and a daughter, Charlene Hayes.
She retired from DuPont where she worked for 18 years, was a member of Rock Run Primitive Baptist Church and was assistant Church Mother.
Surviving are her husband, Frank Penn of the home; three daughters, Faye Ingram of Bassett, Renee Bannister of Durham, N.C. and Cherie Ann Penn of St. Paul, Minn.; a son, Edward K. Penn of Detroit, Mich.; three brothers, Julius Reynolds of Martinsville, Rev. Eugene Reynolds of Spencer and Dana Reynolds of Queens Village, N.Y.; five sisters, Kitty R. Harley and Katherine Millner, both of Martinsville, Scline Sellers of Roanoke, Novella Dodson of Martinsville and Annie Kate Young of Chester; and three grandchildren.
Hines Funeral Services in Martinsville is in charge of arrangements.
