POYTHRESS
Foxhall Alexander "F.A." Poythress, 77, of Mechanicsville, passed away October 31, 2001. A son of the late Annie May Kidd and F.A. Poythress Sr., he was preceded in death by a sister and four brothers. He is survived by his wife, Roberta Horne Poythress; two daughters, Laura P. Butterfield and her husband, James and Elizabeth P. Thompson; a son, Robert A. Poythress and his wife, Nancy; three grandsons, Michael J. Butterfield, Ernest "Happy" Thompson Jr. and Randolph A. Thompson; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Agnes P. Hudson and Ella May P. Kidd; a brother, Thomas S. Poythress; and a special family friend, Beverly Massie. Remains rest at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee Davis Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and where a funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, Novmeber 3. Interment will follow in Signal Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Fort Grove United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 145, Stoney Creek, Va. 23882.

RIFE
Patsy Trainham Rife, age 60, of Richmond, Va., went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 29, 2001. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Vincent H. Rife; five devoted sons that she lovingly gave of herself for her entire life, Norman Brooks Jr., Christopher S. Brooks, Kevin Brooks, Vincent Rife Jr. and Spencer Rife. Also cherishing the memory of her life are 10 grandchildren that put the twinkle in Grandma's eye. She is also survived by her sister, Becky Dawson; two beloved nieces, five loving daughters-in-law; beloved cousins, Josephine Hayes and her husband, Jimmy and Betty Lamb; her best earthly friend, Pat Helton; as well as many loving Christian friends from her community Bible study group. Mrs. Rife was a housewife and full time mother and grandmother who loved her family and the Lord above all else for the entirety of her life. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 1, 2001 at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad St., Glen Allen, to be led by her sons, Vincent Rife Jr. and Kevin Brooks. Interment will follow in Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Boulevard Baptist Church, 2944 W. Marshall St., Richmond, Va. 23230, or to the Community Bible Study, 1765 Business Center Dr., Suite 200, Reston, Va. 20190.

SANDERS
Departed this life, October 27, 2001, Mrs. Mavorine Ruffin Sanders of 3122 Enslow Ave. She is survived by her husband, Andrew C. Sanders; son, Marcellus A. Sanders; granddaughters, Dynisha Dickens, Yamesiha Howard and Shaquita and Christine Coles; six sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends. Her remains rest at the W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home, where her family will receive friends 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday. After 10:30 a.m. Friday, her remains will rest at S.I. Edwards Memorial Church, 2129 Ford Ave., where funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m., Bishop Willie G. Suggs officiating. Interment Riverview Cemetery.

SMITH
George Stanley Smith Jr., 43, of Richmond, died Wednesday, October 31, 2001. He is survived by his parents, Jean and George Smith Sr.; a sister, Paula S. Fox, all of Richmond; three uncles, John "Bud" Shortt and his wife, Carmen of Richmond, Charles V. Shortt of Biloxi, Miss. and James E. Smith and his wife, Rayma of Spring Hill, Fla.; also several cousins. The family will receive friends 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., where services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday. Interment Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.

SMITH
Kermit Leroy Smith, age 63, of Amelia, died on October 30, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Faye; five sons, Shannon, Shelley and Stanlee Smith, all of Amelia, Lance Smith of Blackstone and George Hardy V of Crewe; two daughters, Katie Smith of Blackstone and Destinee Smith of Dinwiddie; and sister, Betty Bowlin of Blackstone. A chapel service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. in the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home, 16409 Court St. Interment to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. TAYLOR
Richard F. "Dicky" Taylor, 65, of Richmond, died Tuesday, October 30, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Beverly F. Taylor; two daughters, Susan T. Evans and Robin T. Fulcher; four grandchildren, Blair Patterson, Cody Evans, Shannon Brown and Taylor Findlay; two sisters, Ellen T. Martin and Carline T. Newby. Mr. Taylor enjoyed drag racing, fishing and hunting. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and where services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 2. Interment in Signal Hill Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation.

TEMPLE
Dorothy Johnson Temple, 88, of Rappahannock Westminster Canterbury, formerly of Petersburg, died October 16, 2001. Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, November 3, 2001 at 12 noon in Blandford Cemetery with the Right Rev. Dr. Boston M. Lackey Jr. officiating. Funeral services provided by the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.

THROWER
Departed this life October 31, 2001, Donald J. Thrower of 4043 McKay Avenue. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue. Funeral notice later.

TULLOH
James Meredith Tulloh Sr., 87, of Charlottesville and formerly of Louisa, died Tuesday, October 30, 2001. He was the first man from Louisa County to be drafted into the U.S. Army during WWII, where he received the EAME Theater Ribbon, three Bronze Stars, American Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Ribbon. After being honorably discharged from the Army he worked as a fireman or Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad. He retired from Virginia Telephone and Telegraph as a telephone repairman. Survivors include his son, James M. Tulloh Jr. of China Grove, N.C.; and a sister, Ruth R. Tulloh of Mineral. The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Woodward Funeral Home, Louisa, Va., where funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Mike Durham officiating. Interment will follow in the Mineral Baptist Church Cemetery, Mineral Va. Memorial donations may be made to the Miller School of Albermearle Alumni Association.

WHITE
Mr. Harold Lee White departed this life October 24, 2001. He is survived by his niece and nephew, Sheila Andrews and Sherman Lee White of Jacksonville, Fla.; other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Graveside services will be conducted at Virginia Veterans Cemetery on Friday, November 2, 2001, 11 a.m.

WINSLOW
Leonard F. Winslow Jr., 70, retired real estate broker, died early Wednesday morning, October 31, 2001. He was born in Philadelphia, Penn., the son of the late Marjorie B. and Leonard F. Winslow, and was raised in Richmond. In 1964 he was one of the founders of Monticello National Bank, now First Virginia Bank of the Blue Ridge. At the time of his death he was serving his 37th year as a member of its Board of Directors. He was a past president of Virginia Land Company and several organizations including the National Capital Chapter of Safari Club International, Charlottesville-Albemarle Chapter of the Izaak Walton League, and the Charlottesville and Albermarle Board of Realtors. He was also a member of Rotary Club International and The Church of Our Saviour, where he served as a vestry member. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary H. Winslow; his children, Mary Beth Winslow, Leonard F. Winslow III and his wife, Susan; and two grandsons, Lee and Sam. A memorial service will be held at the Church of Our Saviour at 12 noon on Friday, November 2, 2001. Rev. Harold H. Hallock officiating. The family will greet friends in the parish hall following the service. WYATT
Mr. Larry D. Wyatt of Richmond and formerly of Charlotte Court House died Saturday, October 27, 2001 in Richmond. He was the son of James and Pearl Wyatt of Charlotte Court House. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 1, 2001 at 1 p.m. at the Morrison Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte Court House with interment in the Union Cemetery. Jeffress Funeral Home of Charlotte Court House is in charge of arrangements. Memorial services will be held Sunday, November 4, at 2 p.m. at the St. Paul's Baptist Church in Richmond.

WYCHE
Entered into eternal rest on October 30, 2001, Beverly Ann Wyche. Her memories will live on with her sons, Ronald F. and Donald A. Wyche; grandchildren, Marquette Brooks and Clifton R. Murphy; three great- grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Jacqueline Wyche and Jacqueline A. Belton; a host of other relatives and friends; two devoted, Ruth Alfrord and Robinette Peebles. YOUNG
Frank Wesley Young, 88, of Richmond, died Tuesday, October 30, 2001. A native of Roanoke, Mr. Young served in the Sixth Army, Second Battalion, during WWII. Before the war he worked as a foreman at the Southren Biscuit Company in Richmond, and after his discharge from the service he joined Cole's Caterers and Confectioners as its chief confectioner and cake decorator. His clients included all of Virginia's governors of the early post war era. With the late Henry L. Dyson he formed the custom catering firm of Dyson & Young in 1964. Mr. Young is survived by a sister, Alice Wynne; a brother, James Saul, both of Richmond; two daughters, Patricia Young Hegamyer and Susan Young Boyle, both of Richmond; two sons, John W. Young of Richmond and Roger E. Young of Charlottesville; and four grandsons. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd. where services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.

ALLEN
Antonio "Ghee" Allen of Richmond entered eternal rest July 13, 2001. Cherishing his memory are his two sons, Tyquan Watson and Walter Allen; his mother, Debra Allen; brother, Donell Parson; three aunts, two uncles, a host of cousins; other relatives and friends, one devoted, Lakinda Watson. Hamood Al-Shaif, age 26, of Richmond, died July 13, 2001. A private service will be held July 19, 2001.

ALVIS
Douglas Jackson (Jack) Alvis, 70, of Goochland, Va., died July 18, 2001. Survived by two sisters, Viola A. Vickley of Louisa and Minnie Alvis of Goochland; one brother, James Alvis of Richmond; also, two special friends, Shirley and R.J. Holman of Goochland. He was predeased by one brother, J. Rogers Alvis. He was also a Korean veteran. Remains rest at the Norman Funeral Home, Goochland, Va., where family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Graveside service will be held Friday, July 29, 11 a.m. at Hollins Family Cemetery, Sandy Hook, Va. Memorials may be made to the Goochland Fire & Rescue Squads, Co. 5.

ATKINSON
Hermine Maier Atkinson, age 71, formerly of Richmond, died July 16, 2001 in Jacksonville, Fla. Survivors include her husband, Clyde D. Atkinson Sr.; two children, Clyde D. Atkinson Jr. and Elizabeth A. Atkinson; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and other loving family members. Mrs. Atkinson was a retired Chesterfield Co. School bus driver. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday. Interment Oakwood Cemetery.
