Estelle D. Cox
Estelle Jennings Doyle Cox, 96, of 5060 Preston Road, Martinsville, died Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2005, at the Blue Ridge Rehab Center, Martinsville.
She was born in Roanoke on Aug. 24, 1909, to J.M. Doyle and Josephine Marshall Doyle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pinkney Spencer Cox; a son, Ernest J. "E.J." Cox; two sisters, Annie Frazier and Coe Wells; and two brothers, Marshall Doyle and Walter Doyle.
She was formerly employed at Lacy Manufacturing Co., at the Kennedy House for seven years and as a nurse's aide at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
She was a member of Pleasant Grove Christian Church for 47 years, was the oldest member of the church, and was in the choir. She also helped with the children and was a member of the Women's Circle at the church.
Surviving are a daughter, Jo Ann Creel Shelton of Martinsville; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Grove Christian Church with Minister George Harris officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church and other times at the home on the Preston Road.
Collins Funeral Services in Bassett is in charge of arrangements.

Beckel Ford
Beckel Ford, 86, of 431 Fisher Drive, Martinsville, died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
He was the husband of Fannie Ford of the home.
Norris Funeral Services and Crematory will announce arrangements.

Arthur B. Koger
The funeral for Arthur "Burr Head" Brown Koger, 89, of Collinsville, who died Dec. 11, 2005, was held Wednesday at Norris Funeral Services with the Revs. Carlton McDaniel and Walter Brown officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park.
Pallbearers were Danny Ramsey, Dash Wyatt, Michael Wyatt, Chip Mautz, James Wyatt Jr., Keith Fulcher, Maynard Lackey and J.P. Barbour.

Nancy R. Smith
Nancy Roberson Smith, 78, of 17670 A.L. Philpott Hwy., Horsepasture, died Dec. 14, 2005, at her home.
She was born in Patrick County on Sept. 16, 1927, to James Lester Roberson and Maude Ingram Roberson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, William C. Smith III.
She was a devoted member of Horsepasture Christian Church, her Sunday School class and book club.
Surviving are her husband, William C. "Bill" Smith Jr. of the home; three daughters, Martha Anderson of Roanoke, Sue Hane of Raleigh, N.C. and Lee Robison of Roanoke; and eight grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home on A.L. Philpott Hwy. after 3 p.m. Friday.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Horsepasture Christian Church with viewing from 9:30 a.m. until time for the service.
Memorials may be made to Horsepasture Christian Church Building Fund, 1146 Horsepasture-Price Road, Ridgeway, Va. 24148.
Norris Funeral Services and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Sandra L. Bowman
EDEN, N.C. -- Sandra Leigh Bowman, 58, of 629 Valley Drive, Eden, died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2005.
She was born in Surry County on April 7, 1947, to Acie W. Bowman and Avalene B. Bowman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Lee Bowman.
She graduated from Morehead High School and Rockingham Community College.
A certified chiropractic assistant, she had worked at Eden Chiropractic for more than 20 years.
Surviving are an aunt and a cousin in Stuart.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Fair Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County, P.O. Box 281, Wentworth, N.C. 27375, or to a local charity of choice.

Rita L. Cuellar
Due to inclement weather, the funeral for Rita Linda Cuellar, 62, of Patrick Springs, who died Dec. 11, 2005, will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Moody Funeral Home instead of at the cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour before the service.

Beckel Ford
The funeral for Beckel Ford, 86, of 431 Fisher Drive, Martinsville, who died Dec. 14, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Church at Mercy Crossing, 1978 Joseph Martin Hwy. Pastor Jackie Poe and the Revs. Jimmy Woods and Harold Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park.
The family will receive friends for two hours Saturday before the funeral.
Memorials may be made to the Church at Mercy Crossing Benevolence Fund, 1978 Joseph Martin Hwy., Martinsville, Va. 24112.
He was a building contractor and constructed the Martinsville Church of God in 1974, which is now the Church at Mercy Crossing, where he was a member. He served in the Army during World War II.
He was born in Harlan County, Ky., on Nov. 3, 1919, to Oscar Ford and Alice Fuson Ford.
Surviving are his wife, Fannie Monday Ford of the home; two daughters, Linda Ford Ramsey of Chatham and Trella Ford Mertz of Midlothian; three sons, Jimmie Ray Ford of Martinsville, Jerry Wayne Ford of Axton and Terry Glenn Ford of Richmond; two sisters, Carrie Ford Napier and Bera Ford Langford, both of Fairfield, Ohio; a brother, Thurman Ford of Louisville, Ky.; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Norris Funeral Services and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Robert L. White
ROANOKE -- Robert L. White, 73, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2005.
He was born in Mississippi on Jan. 4, 1932, to Alex White and Lousinda White.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He served in the Korean Conflict and worked as a welder in New York.
Surviving are four daughters, Theleasa Sales of Bedford, Ga., Tina Prunty of Newport News, Regina Witcher of Greensboro, N.C. and Hopenes White of Odenton, Md.; a son, Noah White of Newport News; six grandchildren; and several other relatives.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Serenity Funeral Home in Roanoke with the Rev. Quentin White officiating.
The family will receive friends at 914 Forest Park Drive.
Memorials may be made to the Memory of Robert White, c/o 407C Savage Drive, Newport News, Va. 23602.

Bettie H. Barrow
Bettie Handy Barrow, 87, of Martinsville, died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home will announce arrangements.
