McKITTRICK
Maude Woodring Weis McKittrick, 89, of Richmond, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and friend, died Sunday, October 1, 2000. Maude was born in Phillipsburg, Pa.; resided in Columbus, Ohio with husband, William C. Woodring, who preceded her in death; became a longtime resident of Richmond with husbands, Jack Weis and Tom McKittrick III, both preceding her in death. Maude is survived by her devoted children, David Hartman Woodring of Richmond, Diane J. and husband, Major Stanley Lochochi of Pittsford, N.Y. and William M. Woodring and wife, Brenda of Cleveland, Ohio; her brother, Thurman E. Hartman of Largo, Fla.; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many more friends and relatives. The family will receive friends Tuesday, tonight, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, where services will be conducted 10 a.m. Wednesday. Interment 10 a.m. Friday, Glen Rest Cemetery, Reynoldsburg, Ohio.

MOORE
Mr. Albert Moore, 56, of Emporia, died Monday, October 2, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Moore; two daughters, Renee Walters, Christie Mitchell and husband, Steve; one son, Edward D. Gay and wife, Brenda; four grandchildren, Choe Barnes, Sara Gay, Steven Mitchell and Brian Mitchell; four brothers, Jimmy Moore and wife, Lois, Tommy Moore and wife, Joyce, Stuart Moore and wife, Diane and Tony Wayne Moore and wife, Karen; two sisters, Francis Pope and husband, A.L. and Nancy Turner and husband, Joey. The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday (tonight) at Owen Funeral Home in Jarratt. The funeral service will be held graveside 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2000 at Emporia Cemetery.

MOSS
Katherine Eltinge Fensom Moss, a lifelong resident of Richmond, Va., departed this life Sunday, October 1, 2000 at Riverside Convalescent Center, Smithfield, Va. She was the last surviving child of William Rowe Fensom and Blanche Ardell Fensom. She is survived by her son, Howard T. Moss; daughter-in-law, Susan G. Moss; and her brother-in-law, Herndon Lee Pemberton. Mrs. Moss was a retired employee of the C.F. Sauer Co. in Richmond. The family will receive friends 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, October 3 at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 4 in Riverview Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 227 S. Cherry St., Richmond, Va. 23220.

NEILL
Captain Dugald T. Neill, USN, Ret., age 81, died October 1, 2000 at Riverside Tappahannock Hospital. He is survived by his second wife, Bernadine Anne Dolan Neill of Lottsburg, Va. Captain Neill was a native of Bayside, Long Island, N.Y. He was the son of Frank Snedecker and Edith Frances Tucker Neill. He graduated from Manhassett High School in 1936 and Duke University in 1940. He received both his Masters and Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. He was a naval aviator and attended the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. Captain Neill volunteered for the US Navy after graduating from Duke University and was assigned to engineering duty aboard the USS Wakefield, formerly the United States Liner Manhattan which burned off Nova Scotia in 1942. He then volunteered for naval aviation and received his wings from the Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Fla. and joined the Night Air Group (91) as a member of the Night Fighter Squadron aboard the Bon Homme Richard. On duty in Pacific, he witnessed the signing of the treaty with Japan. While airborne he was assigned to various duties at the Pentagon and the U.S. Air Force. Captain Neill was Professor of Naval Science at the University of Pennsylvania and Purdue University and was assigned as Battle Director with the U.S. Air Force Air Defense Command, Montgomery, Ala. He ended 33 years of service as an instructor at the Industrial College of the Armed Forces in Washington, D.C. In retirement Captain Neill was elected to the Soil and Conservation Board, Northumberland County. Additional survivors include his three stepdaughters, Barbara Peggy Love and her husband, David Love, Patricia Dolan Ettus and her husband, Douglas Ettus, and Ellen Dolan Franks and her husband, Daniel Franks. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Jennifer Love, Erin Love, Ryan Ettus, Megan Ettus, Vernon Franks and Marisa Franks. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, October 6 at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church Cemetery, Heathsville. Friends may call 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Jones-Ash Funeral Home, Rainswood. The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to Callao Fire Department or Rescue Squad.

NEW
Mildred Ruth Bareford New, 85, of Tappahannock, a life long resident to Essex County, died October 1, 2000. She was the daughter of the late Henry Meade Bareford and Mildred Brubaker Bareford. She was the widow of the late E. Garrett New and preceded in death by her daughter, Anne New Smith of Tappahannock. She is survived by one daughter, Shelby Jean New of Gloucester; her granddaughter, Anne (Downi) Smith Blanton; and her grandson, T. C. Williams Smith III; and four great-grandchildren, Thomas Garrett Blanton, Anne Lewis Blanton, Christopher Allen Smith and Lauren Tyler Smith, all of Tappahannock; four siblings, Pauline B. Shaffer of Denton, Md., Capt. Louise Bareford, USN, Ret. of Annapolis, Md.; Henry M. Bareford Jr. of Denton, Md. and Lt. Col. Betsy J. Bareford, USAF, Ret. of Bowie, Md. She was preceded in death by a sister, Rose B. Zimmerly. She was a member of Tappahannock Memorial United Methodist Church, XYZ Club, the Essex County Women’s Club and was active in volunteer work. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m. at the graveside in Essex Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Marks-Bristow Funeral Home, Tappahannock. Memorial contributions may be made to Tappahannock Memorial United Methodist Church.

PRICE
Rev. Charles Philip Price, 83, of Ferrum, rose to be with his Lord on Sunday morning, October 1, 2000. Before retiring to Ferrum in 1982, Charles pastored the following Virginia United Methodist churches and circuits: North Patrick, Cascade, Ferrum-Bethany, Patrick Springs, Highland-Bluegrass, Pamplin, West Franklin, Bethel-St. Matthew (Mathews County), Providence-Woodland (Suffolk), Isle of Wight, Philadelphia (Brunswick County), Rapidan (Madison County), Little Fork (Culpeper), Greene, North Brunswick and West Mecklenburg. In addition to the ministry of God’s Word, Charles, together with his family, shared his love of music with each of his parishes. A native of Mayodan, North Carolina, Charles served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II. After the war ended, he completed his education at Ferrum College and High Point College, later earning a certificate in divinity from Duke University. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 42 years, Irene Nichols Price. He is survived by a sister, Marion Gish of Roanoke; by four daughters, Marie Fiester of Baltimore, Bessie Oakley of Durham, Elsie Poulin of Atlanta and Annette Ferguson of Culpeper; by two sons, Rev. John Price of Hampton and Phil Price of Suffolk; by seven grandchildren; by two great-grandchildren; and by his devoted friend, Reva Harrison of Rocky Mount. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 4, 2000, at Maple Grove United Methodist Church on Henry Road, west of Ferrum off Route 40, with Rev. John Price officiating and Rev. Lawrence Snead assisting. Interment will follow at the family cemetery in Endicott. The family will receive visitors from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3, 2000, at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to local churches. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service, Rocky Mount.

RATLIFF
Ira Ratliff, 91, of Ashland, died October 2, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Cleo Ratliff; his daughter, Linda Ratliff Shanholtzer; a son-in-law, Donald Shanholtzer; a sister, Mrs. K.E. Elswick of Roanoke; three half sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends in Reid Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church, Ashland. Interment Signal Hill Memorial Park.

Christopher A. (Chris) Six of Richmond died Sunday, October 1, 2000. He is survived by his son, Jaiden Alexander Six; and daughter, Eliza May Six; brother, Robert W. SMITH
Herbert Hugh Smith Jr., 76, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, left us on October 2, 2000 to be with the Lord, his parents, and eldest son, Bart, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Smith was a native of Norfolk, Va. He resided in Ahoskie, N.C. and Richmond, Va. for many years, returning to Virginia Beach in 1985 where he founded and was president of Eastern School of Technology. Mr. Smith was a long-standing member of Davie Lodge #39 in Ahoskie, N.C., as well as a Shriner. He is survived by the mother of their children, Doris W. Smith of Virginia Beach; four sons, Scott C. Smith and his wife, Lib of Davidson, N.C., Greg E. Smith and his wife, Robbie of Virginia Beach, William B. Smith of Kannapolis, N.C., and Mark C. Smith of Richmond, Va.; and six grandchildren, Stephanie, Samantha, Stevie, Sara, Dylan, and Jaxon. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hollomon- Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. in Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, Va. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Union Mission in Norfolk, Va.

SOLDAN
E. Marjorie Soldan, 90, of Richmond, died Monday, October 2, 2000. She is survived by her husband, Leonard A. Soldan; her son, Philip W. Soldan and his wife, Jeralyn; her daughter, Joan DuPriest and her husband, James; three grandchildren, Nathan DuPriest, Christopher and Jennifer Soldan; and several nieces and nephews. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home’s Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and where services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday. Interment Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Soldan was a volunteer at Chippenham Medical Center for ten years. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or Calvary Wesleyan Church.

TUCHLER
Frances C. Tuchler, 103, of Richmond, widow of Milton Tuchler, died Sunday, October 1, 2000. She is survived by daughter, Muriel T. Segal and her husband, S. Lewis Segal; four grandchildren, Joseph T. Segal, Steve R. Segal, Phyllis Gould and Martin D. Segal; and eight great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hebrew Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Beth Sholom Home, 1600 John Rolfe Parkway, Richmond, Va. 23233. WALTON
Marie L. Walton of Richmond passed away October 2, 2000. She was the widow of Malvern C. Walton and preceded in death by her son, Malvern C. Walton Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Joan M. Walton; two sisters, Eva Lee Burnette and Pauline B. Bickerstaff; two grandchildren, Bruce C. Walton and Julie W. Holloman; and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Walton was a retired employee of Home Beneficial Life Insurance Co. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home’s Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

WHITLOCK
William E. Whitlock of Powhatan departed this life Monday, October 2, 2000. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Streets. Funeral notice later.
