PAULUS
Isabelle Simonton Paulus, age 92, of Gloucester, formerly of Blackstone, died Saturday, May 25, 2002. She was the widow of Donald M. Paulus. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara P. Dixon of Gloucester; three grandchildren, Holly Speight, Rodney Paulus, Kevin Paulus; a great-granddaughter, Olivia Speight; and a brother, Clarence Simonton. Isabelle will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at the Hamner-McMillian Funeral Home Chapel, Blackstone, with interment in Lakeview Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

PELAQUIN
Judith Atwell Pelaquin departed this life May 27, 2002, at age 53. She is survived by two sisters, Nancy Tyler and Brenda Owens; devoted cousin, Linda Thomas; nieces, nephews; and Smokey. Contact family at 7401 Key Deer Circle, Midlothian, Va. 23112.

PERDUE
William Edmond Perdue, 73, of Prince George, died Sunday, May 26, 2002, at the home of his daughter, Denise Lee of Colonial Heights. A native of Martinsville, Va., he was the son of the late William T. and Hessie Joyce Perdue. He was a member of and served as a deacon at Faith Pentecostal Holiness Church in Petersburg. He was retired from the U.S. Navy with over 21 years of service, serving in the Korean Conflict, and was also retired as a plant manager for Brenco, Inc. Mr. Perdue was part owner of B & B Auto Sales in Petersburg. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Estelle Perdue; a son, Kenneth Duane Perdue; and a daughter, Theresa Perdue Lawson. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Denise Lee and husband, Mark of Colonial Heights, Sheila Lackey and husband, Larry of Concord, N.C., Brenda Joyce Dobson and husband, Jack of Smithfield, Eugenia Mcalany of South Carolina; sons, Joseph Wayne Perdue of Chester, Ray Perdue of Norfolk, Donald Perdue of Colonial Heights, Bobby Perdue and wife, Danielle of Glen Allen, and William E. Perdue of South Carolina; 18 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, James C. Perdue, Billy F. Perdue and Linday R. Perdue, all of Michigan; one sister, Ella V. Wheeler of Georgia; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2002 in Faith Pentecostal Holiness Church, 2568 Steadman Drive, Petersburg, with the Rev. Richard Elliott officiating. Interment to follow in Bermuda Memorial Park, Chesterfield. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights. Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made to the Crater Community Hospice, 840 W. Roslyn Rd., Suite E, Colonial Heights, Va. 23834-3547 in Mr. Perdue's memory.

POLLARD
Mary Carter Pollard of 3305 Second Ave. entered eternal rest May 24, 2002. Cherishing her memory are her daughter, Evelyn Harris (William); son, John Pollard III (Veronica); seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, two nieces, three nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends, among them two devoted, Mrs. Mary Herbin and Mrs. Hildreth Bolling. Kathy Smith Rogers, 40, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 25, 2002. She was preceded in death by her father, Haywood Smith Sr.; sisters, Brenda Leith and Wanda Resh; brother, Logan Smith. She is survived by her mother, Anna Smith; sisters, Sandra Taylor and Peggy Butler; brothers, Haywood "Woody" Jr., Michael "Mickey" and Victor Smith. Curtis B. Waldrop, age 84, of Amelia, died on May 27, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Bettye"; son, David and his wife, Ann of Amelia; daughter, Beverley Hanlon and her husband, Tom of Mechanicsville; sisters, Hilda Phillips of Amelia, Lurline Orange of Blackstone; granddaughter, Kimberley Waldrop; grandsons, Chad Waldrop, and Daniel Hanlon; stepgranddaughter, Casey Easter. Graveside service will be held on Thursday, 11 a.m. at Lakeview Cemetery, Blackstone. The family will receive friends at home. Contributions may be made to the Amelia Fire Department or Rescue Squad. Alice L. Walker, 76, of Richmond, died Saturday, May 25, 2002. She was the widow of William C. Walker and is survived by her daughter, Deborah Walker; two sons, Charles Walker and his wife, Kathy, and Randy Walker and his wife, Jeanne; two grandchildren, Alexandra and Jacob Walker; two brothers, John and Joe Leber; four sisters, Sug Stinson, Anne Carroll, Mary Ligon, and Dorothy Atkinson. Mrs. Walker was a longtime member of Oakwood Memorial Baptist Church. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 South Laburnum Ave., where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday. Henrietta Woodhull Walker, 87, of Richmond, formerly of Callao, widow of Lewis Kendall Walker, departed this life Sunday, May 26, 2002 at the Eastern Star Home of Virginia. She was a member of Henderson United Methodist Church in Hyacinth, member of Betty Lewis Chapter #107 O.E.S. and a charter member of the Callao Volunteer Rescue Squad. She is survived by a son, Lewis Kendall Walker II of Lancaster; two daughters, Nancy W. Bland of Richmond and Debra W. Dise of Reedville; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2002, at Henderson United Methodist Church in Hyacinth, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Callao Volunteer Rescue Squad or Eastern Star Home of Virginia, 3000 Chamberlayne Ave., Richmond, Va. 23227. Jacquelin Boisseau White, age 57, of Henrico, departed this life Thursday, May 23, 2002. She was preceded in death by her father, Carlton L. Boisseau Sr. She was born October 24, 1944 to the late Mr. Boisseau and Mrs. Jacquelin Tyler Boisseau Jones. Mrs. White is survived by her loving son, Robert E. White III; her mother, Jacquelin Tyler Boisseau Jones; stepfather, Deacon Wilson A. Jones; grandson, Myles Xavier White; her brother, Carlton L. Boisseau; her niece, Christina L. Boisseau; one aunt, Dr. Zelma T. Littlejohn; three uncles, Lynwood, Robert, and devoted Howard Boisseau Sr.; daughter-in-law, Alicia Finney White; sister-in-law, Sandra L. Boisseau, MD; many other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St., where members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority will conduct an AKA Memorial Service, Tuesday, 7 p.m. Remains will lie in state Wednesday, 12 noon, at All Souls Presbyterian Church, 19 Overbrook Rd., where funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Rev. WINSTON
Evelyn J. Winston, 82, of Hadensville, Va., departed this life Monday, May 27, 2002. Remains rest at the Robert Mealy Funeral Home, Goochland, Va. Funeral notice later.

WOOD
Hugh N. Wood, age 73, of Palmyra, died May 27, 2002, at home. He was son of the late Irvin S. and Pearl S. Wood of Columbia. Hugh was also preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Margie Carter Wood; and a stepdaughter, Elizabeth F. Humphreys. He is survived by one brother, Irvin S. Wood and wife, Phyllis of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Dorothy W. Yeamans and husband, Ivanhoe of Powhatan, and Jean W. Sclater and husband, William of Palmyra; one stepdaughter, Janet Flannagan of Richmond; one grandson, Dean Boisseaux of Fluvanna; two granddaughters, Betty Merkle Taylor of Fluvanna and Kim Austin of Richmond; one son-in-law, Les Humphreys of Palmyra; a faithful friend, Faye Haley of Fluvanna; and four great-grandchildren. All services are private. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1490 Pantops Mountain Place, Charlottesville, Va. 22911. ANDREWS
Departed this life July 14, 2002, Mother Virginia V. Andrews of Richmond, wife of the late Elder James Andrews. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St. Funeral notice later.

ASHTON
Stuart Thornton Ashton III, LTC, FA, AUS (Ret.), died peacefully at his residence on July 13, 2002. He was 83 at the time of his death. Born June 5, 1919, he grew up in Arlington, Va., and later attended George Washington University. He was an active member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. LTC Ashton entered the U.S. Army in 1942, and was commissioned from Field Artillery OCS. He saw combat in WWII as a Field Artillery Liaison Pilot with the 35th FA Group, and again in Korea as a Senior Army Aviator with the 17th FA. Designated a Master Army Aviator, LTC Ashton also served with MACV in Vietnam before his retirement from active duty in 1968. A pioneer in Army Aviation, LTC Ashton's records indicate over 6,000 flying hours, many special qualifications, and numerous awards and decorations. He went on to have a second career with Arlington County, retiring again in 1988. LTC Ashton was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Adams Ashton, RN. He is survived by his two sons, LTC Stuart T. IV, USAR (Ret.) and COL Douglas F., USMC; and four grandchildren, Mary Katherine, Erin Virginia, Mathew Ross and Sarah Elizabeth. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Army Emergency Relief Fund.

BALL
Elizabeth C. Ball of Richmond, 83, died Friday, July 12, 2002. Friends will be received by the family for visitation on Monday, July 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad Street. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Bennett Funeral Home. Graveside service to follow at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery.

BUTZNER
Norshain D. Butzner, 80, went to be with the Lord at her daughter's home Saturday, July 13, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Raymond Butzner Sr.; and her son, Charles Raymond Butzner Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Halder and her husband, Rick; daughter-in-law, Jane Butzner; granddaughters, Shelly Huber and her husband, Todd, and Sarah Stanley; one grandson, Chip Butzner; three great-grandchildren, Cole, Caleb and Campbell Huber; one brother, Will Dunvain and his wife, Marion of Beaverdam, Va.; two sisters, Anna Conti and her husband, Jack of Aylett, and Mary Foltz; many beloved nieces and nephews, friends and church family. Remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and where funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Monday. CAMPBELL
Dr. Jerry O. Campbell, 58, of Richmond, died Friday, July 12, 2002, at his home. He was born on April 30, 1944, in Amherst County, a son of Willard Hampton Campbell and Sadie Campbell Wilkerson. He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Scott Campbell; his mother and devoted stepfather, Sadie C. and Carlton L. Wilkerson of Madison Heights, Va.; two sons and daughters-in-law; Paul D. and DeAnne Campbell of Roanoke, Peter D. and Caroline Campbell of Virginia Beach; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard W. and June Campbell of Madison Heights; a nephew, Mark Campbell of Madison Heights, Va.; three grandchildren, Chandler D. Campbell, Anna C. Campbell of Roanoke, and Carter B. Campbell of Virginia Beach. Dr. Campbell graduated from Phillips Business College and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Lynchburg College. He was awarded a Master of Divinity Degree from Wesley Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Emory University. He was an ordained minister in the United Methodist Church, serving churches throughout Virginia for 28 years. He was currently serving at Stratford Hills United Methodist Church in Richmond. A Service of Resurrection will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at Amelon United Methodist Church, Madison Heights, Va. Burial services will be conducted in Amherst Cemetery attended by family members only. A second Service of Resurrection will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2002, at Stratford Hills United Methodist Church, Richmond. Officiating clergy for these services will be the Rev. Joseph A. Anderson, Dr. Lee B. Sheaffer, the Rev. David L. Adkins and the Rev. Rhonda VanDyke Colby. The family requests that those wishing to make memorials consider the Stratford Hills United Methodist Church, 7740 Cherokee Rd, Richmond, Va. 23225, or Amelon United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 739, Madison Heights, Va. 24572. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Tharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, 434-237-9424.
