Raymond Donald "Don" Cole, age 72, of Glen Allen, passed on Friday, July 27, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jean Groves Cole; a son, Robert Lee Cole and his wife, Eliska of St. Louis, Mo; a daughter, Joni Cole Delph and her husband, William of Glen Allen, Va; three grandchildren, Jaclyn Nicole, Jaime Leigh and Paul Taylor Adams of Richmond, Va; two brothers, Harry Cole and his wife, Jane of Orlando, Fla; Dick Cole and his wife Eleanor of Charleston, West Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Joan Swillinger and her husband, Harry of Dallas, Texas and Jane Ellis and her husband, Pat of Pioneer, Calif. He had many other friends and family who knew him and loved his kind and thoughtful heart. His remains rest at Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd. where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, at Laurel Presbyterian Church. Interment Mount Vernon Memorial Park. Mr. Cole was a retired purchasing agent for Union Carbide for 36 years. He was a member of Laurel Presbyterian Church of Glen Allen, Va. and was a volunteer at Henrico Doctors Hospital-Parham for nine years. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandpa, and friend to many and he will be missed. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Laurel Presbyterian Church Window Fund, 9675 Staples Mill Rd., Glen Allen, Va. 23060.

COOLEY
Warren M. Cooley Jr., 86, of Richmond, born in the Blue Ridge Valley, died Thursday, July 26, 2001. Mr. Cooley was preceded in death by his wife, Flo and is survived by two daughters, Diane C. Gooch and her husband, Robert and Susan G. Cooley and her husband, David Cohen; a grandson, Jacob Gooch; two brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law, several nieces and nephews; and loving friends at Lakewood Manor. The family will receive friends 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., where a funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. with interment in Westhampton Memorial Park.

DELAMAR
Christopher F. Delamar Jr., 75, of Richmond, passed away July 25, 2001. He was predeceased by his wife, Agatha Shelton Delamar; and parents, Christopher F. Delamar Sr. and Jessie Prevost Delamar. He is survived by his son, Christopher F. Delamar III of Richmond, Va.; daughter, Cynthia D. Williamson of Chatham, Va.; a brother, William T. Delamar; and a sister, Jessie M. Delamar; and five grandchildren. He was a devoted husband and father. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Benedict's Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

DICKINSON
Phyllis Watkins Dickinson, age 78, died Friday, July 27, 2001 after a short-term illness. She is survived by her husband, James Oliver Dickinson; one daughter, Jan Dickinson Glass; one son, James Oliver Dickinson Jr.; one brother, Robert Jerome Watkins; four grandchildren, Ashley Dickinson Glass, Justin Scott Glass, James Evan Dickinson and Steven Gregory Dickinson. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 West Broad St., Glen Allen. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2001, at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

FROST
William James Frost Sr., 88, of Mechanicsville, died Thursday, July 26, 2001. He was a member of VFW Post No. 9808, Mechanicsville, a member of the Richmond East Moose Lodge No. 1947, and a veteran of the U.S. Army, Air Force Division. Survivors include his wife, Ann C. Frost; son and daughter-in-law, William J. Frost Jr. and Mary L. Frost of Mechanicsville; daughter and son-in-law, Constance F. Ingram and Steven T. Ingram of Sandston; grandchildren, William Travis Frost and his wife, Katie and their two children, Vanessa and Alanna of U.S. Air Force, Lakenheath, England, Todd A. Frost of Mechanicsville, Lance C. Ingram of Sandston and Loryn D. Ingram of Sandston. The remains rest at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee Davis Rd., Mechanicsville, Va., where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the East Hanover Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 454, Mechanicsville, Va. 23111.

GRAEBER
Max Charles Graeber, 72, of Big Island, died Thursday, July 26, 2001 in Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born December 9, 1928 in Porter County, Ind., a son of the late, Ralph Graeber and Geneva Cobb Graeber. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Charles and Stephen; a brother, and a sister. On August 31, 1952, he married Kathleen McClain. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Susan Jane Coston, of McLean, Va., Jeffrey McClain Graeber of Richmond, Va. and Marianne Kathleen Wild of Philadelphia; six grandchildren, Andrew J. Coston, Amanda Coston, Abigail Wild, Jacob Wild, McClain Graeber and Thomas Graeber; daughters-in law and sons-in-law, Mary Marshall Harrell Graeber, Paul C. Coston and Commander Scott Wild, USN; four brothers, Ralph Graeber, Carl Graeber, Jack Graeber and Paul Graeber all of Indiana; and a brother-in-law, George McClain of W.Va. Dr. Graeber was debate coach and Dean of University College, University of Richmond for 29 years and he served on the Council of Higher Education, Deptartment of Education, Washington, D.C. During his retirement, he taught speech at Sweet Briar College. He also served two years in the U.S. Air Force; four years as Fifth District GOP Chairman, Chairman of the Republican Creed Committee and as an advisor to many political campaigns. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to The Stroobants Heart Fund, Lynchburg General Hospital, Lynchburg, Va. 24501, Big Island Emergency Crew, P.O. Box 343, Big Island, Va. 24526 or The University of Richmond. A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2001, at Main Street United Methodist Church with the Dr. John Durham officiating. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Episcopal Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2001 at Carder-Tharp Funeral Home and Crematory, Bedford. Jesse Graham, 70, of Richmond, died Thursday, July 26, 2001 at Retreat Hospital in Richmond. Billups Funeral Home and Bassett Funeral Service in Bassett, Va. is in charge of the arrangements.

HAMAKER
Nannie Lee Stembridge Hamaker, 78, of Richmond, Va. claimed her promise of the Resurrection, July 24, 2001 at her home. She was born February 4, 1923 in Wylliesburg, Va. to Bessie Lee Moore and Silas Wilkie Stembridge. Nan graduated from Chase City High School and attended Longwood College. She worked as a secretary at the Pentagon for 10 years. Nan was a loving mother, caring neighbor, and faithful friend. She was active for many years in the Women of the Church at St. Giles Presbyterian Church and River Road United Methodist Church, as well as a member of the Guild of the Richmond Home for Ladies. Her parents and four brothers, Robert, Silas, Tom, and Bryant Stembridge, preceded her in death. Nan is survived by her husband of 49 years, Lyman Hamaker; four children, Barbara Doyal of Fredericksburg, Va., Stan Hamaker of Princeton, W.Va., Patricia Hamaker Mershon of Richmond, and Dorothy "Dottie" Hubbell of Dhahran, Saudi Arabia; one sister, Valeria Rickman of Chase City, Va.; nine grandchildren, five nieces and three nephews. The committal service will be held at Westhampton Memorial Park Chapel Saturday, July 28 at 10 a.m. followed by a memorial celebration at River Road UMC at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to: Children's Hospital, 2924 Brook Rd., Richmond, Va. 23220-1298; Covenant Woods (formerly Richmond Home for Ladies), 7090 Covenant Woods Dr., Mechanicsville, Va. 23111; River Road United Methodist Church, 8800 River Road, Richmond, Va. 23229; Chase City Fire Dept., P. HAYNES
Carol Biggs Haynes of Chesterfield died July 26, 2001 in Johnston-Willis Hospital. Mrs. Haynes was born in Petersburg and had resided in the area all of her life. She was a teacher and summer school principal at Midway Elementary School for 34 years. Survivors include her husband, Timothy E. Haynes; a son, Ty E. Haynes, both of Chesterfield; her father and mother, John H. and Lois Wilkerson Biggs of Petersburg; and a sister, Bonnie Davis of Colonial Heights. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 30 in the Second Baptist Church, 3355 Johnson Rd., with her pastor, Dr. Joseph T. Lewis, officiating. The interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, Wythe and Adams Sts., on Sunday from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

HENDRICK
Loretta Martin Hendrick, 89, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2001 at her home in Sandston. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Henry F. Hendrick; granddaughter, Heather Diane Nicholas; and son-in-law, Joseph E. Nicholas. She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn H. Nicholas and Diane H. Lewter and her husband, Raymond; three grandchildren and their spouses, Gregory S. and Stephanie Lewter, William H. and Stacey Lewter and Elizabeth N. and Mitch Allen; two great-grandchildren, Brittany D. and Kyle H. Lewter; one stepgreat-granddaughter, Krystal Adams; and a brother, Charles W. Martin. Mrs. Hendrick was a lifetime member of Fairfield Presbyterian Church and was retired from the State of Virginia Welfare Department. Her remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 12 to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bon Secours Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

HUMPHRIES
Bernard R. Humphries Jr., 54, of Mechanicsville, went to be with the Lord Thursday, July 26, 2001. He is survived by his mother, Margaret D. Humphries; preceded in death by his father, Bernard R. Humphries Sr. Also survived by his sisters, Gail H. Phillips and Charlene R. Eshleman and her husband, David; one niece, Janet M. Phillips; preceded in death by niece, Jennifer Lynn Phillips. He was a member of Fairmount Memorial Baptist Church. His remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and where funeral services will be conducted Monady at 11 a.m. Interment Signal Hill Memorial Park. Louise James, a resident of Chippenham Manor Nursing Home, formerly of 1920 Stonewall Avenue, entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 23, 2001 after a long illness. She is survived by several cousins, Ms. Alice Eady, Christopher Eady, Lamont Thorpe, and Mrs. Ella Jordan, all of Richmond, Rev. Catherine E. Rouse of Virginia Beach, Va.; and a devoted friend, Mrs. Hazel Fleming of Richmond. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 30, 2001 at 11 a.m. from Greater Brook Road Baptist Church, 513 W. 28th Street. Officiating Reverend Grace Tolliver. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.

LACY
Mrs. Marjorie "Bubbles" Creasy Lacy of 1808 Wilkerson St., South Boston, Va., died July 26, 2001 at Halifax Regional Hospital. She was born in Gretna, Va. on December 21, 1923 and was 77 years old. She was the daughter of Mr. Stover Henry Creasy and Mrs. Maud C. Creasy, and was married to Dr. Malcolm B. Lacy Jr. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Lacy is survived by her husband, Dr. Malcolm B. Lacy Jr. of South Boston; one daughter, Mrs. Lavalette Lacy Jennings and her husband, Dr. Foster Jennings of Richmond; two grandchildren, Malcolm Jennings and Lacy Jennings; three nephews, and three nieces. Graveside services for Mrs. Marjorie Creasy Lacy will be held Sunday, July 29, 2001 at Creasy Family Cemetery in Gretna at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Russell Lee conducting the service. The family will receive friends at the home, 1808 Wilkerson St., South Boston. For memorials, please consider the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund. MARSHALL
Ruth Shirley Marshall, 73, of Center Cross, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001. She was the widow of Elton Ross "Jay" Marshall. She is survived by her children, Gail Hoffman of Alexandria and Bruce Marshall of Louisville, Colo.; her brother, John Shipley of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; and her two grandchildren, Kurt and Devon Marshall. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday in the Marks-Bristow Funeral Home, Tappahannock. Interment 1 p.m., Veterans Cemetery at Amelia. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. James G. "Jimmy" Nelson, 41, of Chesterfield, Va., was escorted by a host of angels to his heavenly home on July 26, 2001. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 22 years, Joyce W. Nelson; two sons, Quinton "Tanner" and Justin K. Nelson; his loving and devoted parents, Danny R. and Joyce S. Nelson of Chesterfield, Va., and James G. and Melinda Harrelson of Wilmington, N.C.; grandmothers, Gladys B. Sprouse of Chesterfield, Va., Bernice Harrelson of Delco, N.C., and Clara Nelson of Pulaski, Va.; two brothers, Byron S. Nelson and his fiancee, Anne Marie Campbell and Ralph L. Harrelson; two sisters, Teisha Tisdale and her husband, R.J., Melody Spence and her husband, Bill; four nieces, two nephews and many, many loving and supportive extended family members and friends. Jimmy was an employee of Philip Morris and a local taxidermist. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10). His service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Mark Thomas officiating. Interment in Dale Memorial Park.
