Ralph C. Cherry of 1006 N. 3rd Street entered eternal rest March 12, 2002. Cherishing his memory are four children, Marvin of Washington, D.C., Cheryl of Richmond, Ralph of Miami, Fla. and Douglas Cherry of Boston, Mass.; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a host of other relatives and friends; one devoted, Rose Hollman. A service of remembrance will be conducted Wednesday 3:30 p.m. at the All Faiths Chapel of the A.D. Price Funeral Establishment, 212 E. Leigh St. Cheryl Cherry-Bentley, Eulogist. CROSS
Gary L. Cross of La Crosse died March 17, 2002. Survived by his wife, Virginia T. Cross; three daughters, Felichia Gail Vanoy of St. Mary's, W.Va., Joyce Ellen Steele and husband, Russell and Brenda Lee Cross, all of La Crosse; a son, William Lyle Cross and wife, LaToscha, also of La Crosse; and five grandchildren. Funeral service Wednesday, 4 p.m., Southside Baptist Church. Interment Montgomery Family Cemetery, with V.F.W. military Honors. Visitation Tuesday, 6 to 9 p.m. at the church. CROUCH
David Carter Crouch of New Kent went to be with the Lord on March 18, 2002. Survivors include his wife, Pamela M. Crouch; his children, Angela Katherine Crouch, David Benjamin Crouch, Holly Marie Pitts and Shanda Redman and her husband, Daniel; his mother, Jeannette E. Green of North Carolina; grandchildren, Amber Nicole and Sarah Elizabeth Redman; brothers, Douglas B. Crouch of North Carolina, Kenneth W. Crouch of Richmond and Stephen E. McLendon and his wife, Brenda of North Carolina; stepmother, Doris E. Crouch; stepsister, Shirley Yankey and her husband, Doug. He was preceded in death by his father, James E. Crouch III. The joys in his life were belonging to Babcock Lodge No. 322 A.F.&A.M., the ACCA Temple Shrine, Kentwood Heights Baptist Church, and being the proprieter of David Earl's Upholstery. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 South Laburnum Ave., with a Masonic Service to be held at 7 p.m., and funeral services 1 p.m. Thursday. Stacie L. Curtis, of Richmond, died March 15, 2002. Surviving are one daughter, Janelle Curtis; one son, Davon Robinson; mother, Mary Rowe; father, James Curtis; one sister, Pam Rowe; two brothers, Jerrell and Ronnie Rowe; niece and nephew, Jasmine and Jalen Rowe; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends; one devoted friend, David Robinson. Remains rest at Scotts Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd., where funeral services will be held Wednesday, 1 p.m. Rev. E. Walter Anderson officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery.

Cephas "Lil Doug" Douglas Jr. of 1900 Cool Lane died March 18, 2002. Memorial services to be held at a later date. Arrangements by Scott-Lightfoot Funeral Home, 3021 "N" St.

DOYLE
Robert Edward Doyle, 84, of Falls Church, Va., passed away March 16, 2002. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carmela Agnes Doyle. He will be deeply missed by his loving children, Patricia Doyle Cooper, James Patrick Doyle and Robert Francis Doyle and his wife, Linda Friemark; grandchildren, Leah and Gary Cooper and Jennifer, Michelle and Brian Doyle. Mr. Doyle had been a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Vienna, Va. since its founding, and was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus. He and his wife had been active members at the Lewinsville Senior Center for many years. He won many gold medals from the Fairfax County Senior Olympics in canasta. He was a WWII veteran, serving in the Army Air Corps. He retired from the Federal Government after many years of distinguished service. Friends may call Wednesday, March 20 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Murphy's Funeral Home, 1102 W. Broad St., Falls Church, Va. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Good Counsel, Vienna, Va. The family wishes to express its sincere gratitude to the staff at MCV for their compassionate and loving care of Mr. Doyle. Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be made to to the Lewinsville Senior Center, 1606 Great Falls Rd., McLean, Va. 22101.

EDWARDS
Laura Mae Edwards, age 69, of Mechanicsville, died Sunday, March 17, 2002. She is survived by her children, Carol Jones of Richmond, Debbie Rubinson of Mechanicsville, Tina Smith of Powhatan and Teresa Watts of Mechanicsville; two brothers, Robert E. Eubank Jr. of Richmond and Ralph E. Eubank of Caroline Co.; two sisters, Ruby L. Gerber of Caroline Co. and L. Mickie Eastridge of Fredericksburg; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Remains rest at the Atlee Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, at the corner of Shady Grove Rd. and Rt. 301, where the family will receive friends 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, and where services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Interment Signal Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

FRANCK
Earnest E. Franck, 59, died Saturday, March 16, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Melody; three sons, Darin, Shaun and Jason Franck; stepdaughter, Trudy Wingfield and husband, Jay; three grandchildren, Alexandra, Olivia and Carter Franck; two stepgrandchildren, Alexis and Joel Wingfield; sister and brother-in-law, Betty Jean and Haike Giragosian; and many other loved friends and family. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday Kenwood United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in Earnie's memory. The family is being served by Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel.

FREDERICK
Maybelle Copeland Frederick, 90, of Richmond, Va., died March 17, 2002. Born September 12, 1911 in River Falls, Ala. to John and Sara Copeland, she was the youngest of four children. She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Nina and Vernon Mathews of Lake Gaston, N.C. and Mildred and Percy Tuck of Richmond; seven grandchildren, James Goodman and his wife, Linda, Sarah Tennefoss, Annette Goodman, Debra Castlebury and her husband, Gerald, Michael Tuck, Vernon Mathews II and Mark Mathews; 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, make contributions to your favorite charity.

GORDON
Marta G. Gordon, age 84, of Richmond, died Sunday, March 17, 2002. She was the widow of Guilford "Nick" Gordon. She is survived by three children, Marsha Vaughan Loving, Gerald G. Gordon and Kathy G. Ellett; two brothers, John and Chester Grajko; a sister, Sister Mary Pontia; and three grandchildren. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. In care of arrangements, Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel.

HAILEY
Retired U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant Autry Howard Hailey Sr. died March 18, 2002 at the age of 82. Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Irene; his daughter, Velma Morgan and her husband, Keith; his sons, Autry Jr. and his wife, Nancy, James and his wife, Cindy, Darnell and his wife, Faye and Kennith and his wife, Judy; grandchildren, Bonnie, Karen and Brian Childers, Alan Morgan, Stacey Ford, Autry III, Jessie, Rickey and Matthew Hailey, Jeannette Snow, Deborah Simon, Megan and Jason Lassiter and Doug Andrews Jr.; 11 great-grandchildren. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star during the Battle of the Bulge in WWII, where he was a member of the 99th Infantry Antitank-Division 394th. He also retired as Master Sergeant from the Air National Guard. He was a member of the Mechanicsville VFW Post 9808, and a member of Ft. Lee Baptist Church. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday. Interment Washington Memorial Park. Mrs. Theresa L. Harris of Richmond departed this life Friday, March 15, 2002. She is survived by two daughters, Gwendolyn Welch and Gale Grant; son, William Grant; two grandchildren, Chanelle Welch and Rochester Welch; one great-grandchild, Asia Andrews; two brothers, Wardell Grant and Edward Glasper; one nephew, Wardell Grant Jr.; one aunt; one son-in-law, Rochester Welch Sr.; one daughter-in-law, Vicky Grant; one sister-in-law, Elaine Grant; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Streets, where funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 20 at 1 p.m. Interment Maury Cemetery. Relatives and friends attending funeral services assemble at the funeral home Wednesday 12:30 p.m.

McCONNAUGHEY
On March 18, 2002 William Cary McConnaughey, 87, of “Haw Branch” in Amelia County, Virginia died at his home. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Gibson Jefferson McConnaughey; two daughters, Mason McConnaughey Purcell of Charlottesville, Virginia and Sally McConnaughey Cardona of Amelia, Virginia; two sons, Jefferson Cary McConnaughey of Marietta, Georgia and Joseph Westfield McConnaughey of Kennesaw, Georgia; and one granddaughter, Elizabeth Barksdale McConnaughey of Marietta, Georgia. He attended the University of Richmond and did graduate study at the University of Virginia. He taught for eight years and was an elementary school principal before serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war, he was employed for a time with the Virginia Department of Education. For five decades, he operated the McConnaughey Insurance Agency in Amelia, Virginia. He was a member of the Amelia Historical Society and Co-Editor of the Society's bicentennial volume, “Historical Notes on Amelia County.” After cremation, the memorial service will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice of Central Virginia at Farmville are suggested.

McHANEY
Wayland Leslie McHaney, 77, of Richmond, died Sunday, March 17, 2002. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Audrey Voelker McHaney; his three children, Leslie McHaney Demo and her husband, David of Greensboro, N.C., Kevin Michael Christopher McHaney and his wife, Cynthia Graham of Madison, Va. and Lisa McHaney Corbett and her husband, William, of Currituck, N.C.; four grandchildren, Michael McHaney Demo, Brian Hanlon Demo, Christopher Gilbert McHaney and Kara Morgan McHaney. Mr. McHaney was the retired president of A & W Business Forms. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 4 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Gayton Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bon Secours Hospice, 5875 Bremo Rd., Suite 710, Richmond, Va. 23286-3058.
