Charles E. Price I
The funeral for Charles Eugene Price I, 55, of 67 Kennedy Way, Collinsville, who died Dec. 18, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Jerusalem Christian Church. The Rev. Eugene Reynolds will officiate. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends for one hour before the service at the church and other times at the home.
He was born in Pittsylvania County on Feb. 1, 1950, to Ruby Harris Price of Callands and James Oliver Price. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Craft; a sister, Arletha Davis; and a brother, James M. Price.
He retired as a Virginia Cooperative Extension Agent with 30 years of service. He was an insurance agent for Primerica Life Insurance Co. and a family life instructor at For the Children.
He was a member of Jerusalem Christian Church, where he served as church chairman, church elder, CMF Trustee chairman and chairman of the Centennial Committee.
He was president of the Harris Family Reunion committee, a member of the board of directors of Hines Funeral Services Inc. and a member of Episilon Sigma Phi and National Honorary Extension Fraternity.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are two sons, Charles E. Price II of Sarasota, Fla. and Darris L. Price of the home; a daughter, Briana Price of the home; three sisters, Lois P. Starling of Callands, Shelby Wharton of Danville and Teresa Price of Martinsville.
Hines Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Alma Saunders
The funeral for Alma Saunders, 92, of Martinsville, who died Dec. 17, 2005, was held Tuesday at High Street Baptist Church with the Rev. W.A. Shackleford Sr. officiating. Burial was in Carver Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Bill Via, Charles Merritt, Roderick White, Sidney Lee, Mike Williamson and Allen Bowles.
Hines Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.

Ted R. Smith
Ted Ray Smith, 48, of 94 Villa Road, Ridgeway, died Monday, Dec. 19, 2005, at Morehead Hospital in Eden, N.C.
He was born in Urchville, Ohio, on April 6, 1957, to Walter Smith Jr. and Elmo Fowler Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Carol Dawn Smith and Pamela Sue Smith; and a brother, Walter Lynn Smith.
He was a member of Fontaine Baptist Church and graduated from Claymont High School in Dimension, Ohio. After earning a master's degree in education from Glenville State College in Glenville, W.Va., he taught for four years at Magna Vista High School, where he was a junior varsity head coach and assistant wrestling coach. He also taught at Bassett Middle School.
More recently he was a truck driver for USA Logistics Trucking Company.
Surviving are his wife, Noria S. Smith of the home; two sons, Justin Lee Smith and Walter Smith, both of the home; a brother, Richard Lee Smith of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the home on Villa Road in Ridgeway.
The funeral will be private.
Community Funeral Services in Ridgeway is in charge of arrangements.

Flora E. Wade
The funeral for Flora Ella Wade, 78, of 185 Machinery Drive, Martinsville, who died Dec. 18, 2005, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C., will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Moral Hill Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. J.R. Cohen will officiate. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the church for one half hour before the service Friday, and other times at the home.
She was born in Pittsylvania County on Aug. 22, 1927, to Tom Walton and Rachel Hooper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Lester Wade.
She retired as custodian at Tultex where she worked for many years and was a member of Guilfield Missionary Baptist Church at Dry Fork.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary W. McCollugh and Jacqueline Walton, both of Martinsville; three sons, Joseph T. France of Richmond and Rufus S. Wade and Warren Wade, both of the home; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ethel Johnson and Cornell Penn, both of Martinsville; and five brothers, Charlie Walton, James Walton, Benjamin Walton and Linwood Walton, all of Martinsville and Thomas Walton of Lumberton, N.C.
Hairston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Clarence W. Wells
Rev. Clarence W. Wells, 87, of 1757 Centerville Road, Axton, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005, at the Blue Ridge Rehab Center in Martinsville.
He was born in Pittsylvania County on Oct. 27, 1918, to Joe Starling Wells and Julie Kirks Wells. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillie W. Manning and Lizzie W. Manning; and a brother, Jim Wells.
He was a retired minister and a member of Mount Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church in Axton, where he had served as Sunday School Superintendent, deacon, Sunday School teacher and other capacities within the church.
Surviving are his wife, Edith Jefferson Wells of the home; two brothers, Clifton Wells and Joe Wells, both of Danville; and a sister, Ruth W. Barker of Charlotte, N.C.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Home, Westover Chapel, with the Rev. Gary Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Highland Burial Park.
Friends will be received at Mount Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday and other times at the home.

Reba S. Baker
LYNCHBURG -- Reba Stanley Baker, 88, of Lynchburg, died Monday, Dec. 19, 2005, at Drinkard Health Care Center.
She was born in Laurel Fork to Walter C. Stanley and Lizzie Scott Stanley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Alfred Baker Sr.; a sister, Audra Evelyn Stanley; a brother, Maston Scott Stanley; and a daughter, Stephanie Baker Mead.
A graduate of Woodlawn Academy and Lewis-Gale School of Nursing, she served in the Nurse Cadet Corp at McGuire General Hospital during World War II. She had been assistant director of nursing at Lynchburg General Hospital.
She was a writer for the Carroll County News and wrote a book titled "It's a Great Life, If You Don't Weaken."
Surviving are a son, Stephen Alfred Baker Jr. of Lynchburg; two sisters, Iva Stanley Burnett of Martinsville and Retta Pace Sheppard of Ridgeway; a brother, Lowell Robert Stanley of Laurel Fork; and a step-granddaughter.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. today at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Arrangements are by Diuguid Wiggingon Chapel Funeral Home.

Russell D. Cassady
Russell Douglas "Doug" Cassady, 80, of Dangler Mountain Road, Stuart, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005, at his home.
He was born in Patrick County on July 29, 1925, to Will Cassady and Betty Joyce Cassady. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Edith Bullins, Mae Rogers and Covie Holt; and two brothers, Coy Cassady and Joel Cassady.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Crystal "Tootsie" Holt Cassady; five daughters, Brenda Conner of Patrick Springs, Becky Barnes of Stoneville, N.C., Bonnie Goad of Stuart, Amy Taylor of Bassett and Ann Wood of Stuart; two sons, Clarence Cassady of Martinsville and Paul Cassady of Claudville; nine grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Patrick Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Patrick County, 835 Woodland Drive, Suite 101, Stuart, Va. 24171.

Terri L. Hairston
The funeral for Terri Lynne Hairston, 34, of Bassett, who died Monday, Dec. 19, 2005, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Bassett Funeral Service with James Oldfield officiating. Burial will be in the Hairston family cemetery on Virginia 57, west of Bassett.
Visitation will be for one hour before the funeral.
She was born in Martinsville on April 18, 1971, to Cherri Davidson Hairston and Dewie Thomas Hairston, both of Bassett and Terry Faudree Hairston of White Plains, N.Y.
She graduated from Bassett High School and attended Patrick Henry Community College. She attended the Martinsville Church of Christ and was a childhood member of the Ridgeway Church of God of Prophecy.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are a daughter, Keri Allyson Scott of Fieldale; two sons, Jarrett Storm Hairston of the home and Terrence Hairston of Ridgeway; a sister, Lisa Christina Hairston of Martinsville; three brothers, Pastor Jason Thomas Hairston and Justin Matthew Hairston, both of Bassett and Joshua Paul Hairston of the home; maternal grandparents, Galbarth Mack Davidson and Veneta Jones Davidson of Martinsville; and several nephews.
