STUCK
On January 7, 2002, Mary Llewellyn Bagby Stuck of New Kent joined her beloved husband, Benjamin F. Stuck, who died in 1988. Mr. Stuck had worked with Carlton's T.V. in West Point. She is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Rose Marie and Ray Bollinger, Carol Lee and William "Buck" Stewart and Mary Theresa and Richard Morris, all of New Kent; three grandsons, Trey Bollinger, Wes Stewart and Ben Hogge; one granddaughter, Tracie Stewart Speake. Of her six siblings, only two survive, Hazel Poehler of Mechanicsville and Ruby Burton of Heathsville. Also surviving are her sister-in-law, Mrs. Evelyn Bagby Daiger of Montpelier; and many nieces and nephews who remember the fun of having an aunt and uncle who lived on the Chickahominy River and opened their home to all. Llewellyn was born in King William in 1913. She lived in Glen Allen until shortly after her marriage, and spent the majority of her life as a homemaker in Windsor Shades (Providence Forge). She had been in assisted living care since 1991 in Williamsburg and West Point, and made close friends with everyone who helped with her care. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. Remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 South Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Woodland Cemetery, Ashland, Va. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association, or to the New Kent Fire Department or Rescue Squad, both of which Ben and Lou helped to organize.

THOMAS
Beatrice Barrack Thomas, 90, of Lancaster, died January 8, 2002. Surviving are a daughter, Diana Lynn Thomas; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services 2 p.m. Thursday at Lebanon Baptist Church, Alfonso. Interment church cemetery. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lebanon Baptist Church.

TIMBERLAKE
Louise Greenwood Timberlake, 89, of Sandston, widow of Clarence Lee Timberlake, died Sunday, January 6, 2002. She is survived by two daughters, Frances T. Wade of Sandston and Shirley T. Swinson of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, Sheldon Wade, Bryan Wade and Sheree Young; and three great-grandchildren, Christopher Wade, Emily Young and Ciara Young. Mrs. Timberlake was a long time member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where the family will receive friends 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday and where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 10. Interment in Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, Va. 23060.

WADDY
Departed this life January 3, 2002, Mrs. Alice Jane Scott Waddy. She leaves to mourn her passing two daughters, Barbara Richardson and Lila Waddy; four sons, Ronald Scott, Warren, Anthony and Jerome Waddy; 25 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Everett Gonzelo Scott and John L. Scott of Charleston, S.C.; sister, Deaconess Geneva S. Winston and her husband, Deacon David L. Winston Sr.; one devoted daughter-in-law, Maude Waddy; one sister-in-law, Antoinette Edwards; and a host of other relatives and friends. Remains rest at The Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Ave. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday 12 noon from Cedar Street Baptist Church, 2301 Cedar St., Dr. Benjamin W. Robertson Sr. officiating. Interment private. Remains will rest in church one hour prior to services.

WEST
Vida Joan West, 79, of Arlington, Va., passed away Monday, January 7, 2002. She was the beloved mother of John Michael West and wife, Sharon of Richmond; one daughter, Carole Ann West Myers of Rochester, N.Y.; she is also survived by five grandchildren, John Jr. and wife, Nancy, Bruce, David, Rachel and husband, David, Tim and wife, Melessia; and two great-grandchildren, Jared and Jeremy. A memorial service will be conducted on Thursday, January 10 at 11 a.m. at the Woody Funeral Home, Huguenot Chapel, Richmond, Va. Interment private.

WILLIS
Byron P. "Ronnie" Willis, age 63, of Studley, lost his battle with cancer on January 7, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Nancy N. Willis; his son, Charles and his wife, Jennifer Willis of Chester; his daughter, Sharon and her husband, Bryan Cuffe of Halifax; grandchildren, Chaz, Shayna and Luke Willis and Sarah Cuffe; sister, Terry Morrow of Newport, R.I.; brothers, Michael and Byron H. Willis of Maryland; special aunts, Doris Stowe of Colonial Beach, Va. and Percilia Wilson of Houston, Texas; and numerous cousins. Mr. Willis served five years in the U.S. Navy and graduated from Winston-Salem Business College. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2002 at the Mechanicsville Chapel, Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee Davis Road. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to East Hanover Rescue Squad or East Hanover Fire Department.

WOODSON
Ethel Clarke Woodson, age 77, of Powhatan, departed this life January 5, 2002, at Johnston-Willis Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, John "Dutch" Woodson; and son, James Woodson. She is survived by four daughters, Sharlene (Clarence) Hieskill, Gail (Earl) Freeman, Sharon Williams and Brenda Woodson; three sons, John Woodson, Dr. Lawrence (Cynthia) Woodson and Larry (Tammie) Woodson; 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Horace Woodson of Queens, N.Y. She is also survived by one devoted aunt, Mrs. Sallie Harris; and a host of other relatives and friends, devoted among them, Mrs. Pearl Ross, Mrs. Frances Taylor, Mr. Bobby Clarke, Ms. Mildred Lee and a loving caregiver, Mrs. Margaret Woodson. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Sts. Funeral services will be held, Thursday, January 10, 2002, 1 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 2020 Red Lane, Powhatan, Va., Rev. Charles Kirby, pastor and eulogy by Rev. Revell Hicks. Interment in Hollywood Baptist Church Cemetery. Remains will rest in above named church one hour prior to service. Relatives and friends attending assemble at the church Thursday 12:30 p.m.

WRIGHT
James K. "Buster" Wright III, 54, died Tuesday, January 8, 2002 at his home. He was a native of Independence, Va. and was a Richmond resident for 30 years. Mr. Wright was an engineer with VDOT, and retired in 2001 after 25 years of service. He was a member of North Run Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Jenny Thomas-Wright; son, Jason T. Wright; and stepson, S. Clayton Thomas, all of Richmond; stepdaughter, Elizabeth S. Thomas of Ames, Iowa; brother, William R. Wright of Manassas, Va.; his mother, Aileen Poole Wright of Independence, Va.; aunt, Anne Poole Spates of Rockville, Md. His father, James K. Wright Jr., preceded him in death. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 11, 2002 at 7 p.m. at Bliley's Staples Mill Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Bon Secours Hospice.

ZINN
Jean Evelyn Woodson Zinn, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord, after a lengthy illness, on January 6, 2002. Born on April 11, 1931, she was the daughter of the late John Leroy and Annie Harris Woodson. She is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Ralph Richard Zinn; four children, Sandra and her husband, Buddy Harding, Deborah Z. Proffitt, Ralph R. Jr. and his wife, Melody and David L. Zinn; 12 grandchildren, Jeannine, Bradley, Tyler, Angela, Natalie, Victor, Travis, Brandon, Jessica, Josh, Stephanie and Jeff; eight great-grandchildren, Jessica, Justin, Savannah, Abigail, Tation, Cole, Austin and Rafe; three sisters, Irene Thomas, Frances Lowe and Shirley Hall; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was loved, and will be missed by many. Remains rest at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad St., where family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 2002 at St. Martin's Episcopal Church. Interment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

ANDERSON
Departed this life February 2, 2001, Mrs. Mary H. Anderson of Richmond. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St. Funeral notice later.

BOWMAN
Sallie Edwards Bowman, 88, of Richmond, widow of Charles Luther Bowman, died Thursday, February 1, 2001. She is survived by one son, William E. Bowman Sr. and his wife, Valerie; two daughters, Diana Bradshaw Bowman and Sallie Wirt Bowman; five grandchildren; and her brother, Pickett Edwards. Mrs. Bowman was a member and Past Regent of Chancellor Wythe Chapter D.A.R. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, February 5, at the Church of the Good Shepherd. Interment private in Hollywood Cemetery.

BRAY
Elizabeth Rock Bray, 79, of Heathsville, died February 2, 2001. She was the widow of John Raymond Bray. Mrs. Bray was an active lifelong member and Sunday School teacher at Corinth United Methodist Church until it was resolved. She was presently a member of Fairfields United Methodist Church. Surviving are daughters, Kathy Hancock of Heathsville, and Ruth Bray of Charlottesville; granddaughter, Samantha Roberts; sisters, Ethelyn Vanmeter, Louise Wilkins, Mabel Hyler, Alma Jordan and Indianola Balderson; brothers, Irving Rock Jr. and Franklyn Rock. Funeral services 11 a.m. Monday at Fairfields United Methodist Church, Burgess. Interment Corinth United Methodist Cemetery, Heathsville. Friends may call 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the church. Memorials may be made to Corinth United Methodist Cemetery Association, Heathsville, Fairfields United Methodist Church, Burgess or Mid-County Rescue Squad, Heathsville.

Theron Elmo Brown of 1403 Chambers St., husband of Beatrice Brown, departed this life Saturday, February 3, 2001. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Sts. Funeral notice later.

BURTNESS
Mary K. Burtness, 91, of Doswell, died Saturday, February 3, 2001. She is survived by a nephew, Charles A. Sletten; a greatnephew, Alfred C. Sletten and his wife, Robin; one great-great-nephew, John B. Sletten. Graveside service 10 a.m. Tuesday in Westhampton Memorial Park. Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

CARTER
Jane Elizabeth Burton Carter, 86, of Richmond, passed away February 3, 2001. She is survived by her children, Jane C. Wakefield, Georgie C. DeRusha and Gayle C. Hawk; son-in-law, Cabelle B. Hawk Jr.; grandchildren, Rob Wakefield and his wife, Sherry, Scott Wakefield and Brooke Elizabeth Crawford; niece and her husband, LaVerne and Jack O. Kingsley; and sister-in-law, Sue Carter Sperisen. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where the family will receive friends 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, followed by entombment at Dale Memorial Park.

CASSELL
William D. Cassell, age 79, of Crewe, died Tuesday, January 30, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Betty Lou Cassell; four children, Ave Barr of Allentown, Pa., Suanne Scarano of Nottoway, William H. Cassell of Titusville, Fla., Jeremy Cassell of Palm Bay, Fla.; six grandchildren; one sister, Audrey Funtik of Florida. He was a retired maintenance supervisor for First Baptist Church - Merritt Island, Fla., member of Crewe Christian Church, a WWII Army veteran, served in the Marine Reserves, and was a past post commander and member of Crewe VFW Post No. 7819 where he served on the Honor Guard Firing Party Team. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia, with the Rev. Clint Land officiating. military honors by Crewe VFW Post No. 7819. Memorial contributions may be made to Crewe Christian Church or Crewe VFW Post No. 7819. Arrangements by the Jennings-McMillian Funeral Home.

CHILDRESS
Lady H. Childress, 95, of Goochland County, widow of Bernard T. Childress, died February 2, 2001. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Jane C. Lane. Survived by daughters, Rosalind C. Hemhauser and husband, Fred of Richmond, Venna C. Brown and husband, Thomas of Goochland; son, Willie B. (Bill) Childress and wife, Barbara of Richmond; a foster son, Wayne A. Stout and wife, Michele of Goochland; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, February 4, at Norman Funeral Home, Goochland, Va. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, February 5, at Corinth United Methodist Church, Goochland. Interment church cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to Corinth Church Cemetery Fund or Fife Fire and Rescue Squad.

COOKE
Thomas Monroe Cooke, age 67, a resident of Dendron, Va., died Friday, February 2, 2001 in John Randolph Hospital, Hopewell. Born January 3, 1934, he was the son of Ruth Harrup Cooke and the late George M. Cooke. He is also survived by his wife, Helen Bulls Cooke; son, Thomas M. Cooke Jr. of Dendron; daughters, Teresa C. Walton of Vinton, Va., Carolyn C. Dawson of Dendron, Susan C. Bunn of Elberon; brothers, Robert E. Cooke of Fredericksburg, George M. Cooke Jr. of Dendron; sister, Janice C. Cook of Dendron; ten grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 5, 2001, 11 a.m. at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, Va. Burial will follow the service in Waverly Cemetery, Waverly, Va. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, February 4, 2001 at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Donations may be made to the Dendron Baptist Church, Dendron, Va.
