Richard A. Hall
The funeral for Richard Andrew Hall, 63, of Bassett, who died Dec. 17, 2005, was held Wednesday at Bassett Funeral Service chapel with Daryl Martin officiating. Burial was in Mitchell's Chapel Cemetery in Dugspur.
Pallbearers were Paul Kennedy, Chris Tunnell, Eric Hunt, Hardin Edwards and Daryl Martin.

Lillie A. Haskins
The funeral for Lillie Mae A. Haskins, 81, of Calland, who died Dec. 19, 2005, was held Wednesday at Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home with the Revs. Jonathan Hilliard, Roy Parker and Kenneth Terry officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park.
Pallbearers were Scott Martin, Brad Haskins, Ray Jones, Kyle Haskins, Andrew Haskins, Patrick Haskins, Bobby Gauldin, Steve Amos and Willie Martin.

Janie A. Inzar
HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Janie Alcorn Inzar, 56, of 310 Woodbury St., High Point, died Dec. 16, 2005, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born in Martinsville, Va., on May 6, 1949, to Dillard Alcorn and Lizzie Gunn Alcorn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
She attended Martinsville Schools and was a member of Brown's Chapel Holiness Church.
Surviving are her husband of 39 years, Handy Eddie Lee Inzar of the home; four sisters, Juanita Brayboy of Lewiston, Maine, Sarah Lloyd of Dorchester, Mass., Mary Alcorn of Boston and Rebecca Clark of Greensboro; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 1710 East Green Drive. Pastor Catherine Brown will officiate.
Visitation will be held at the church for one half hour before the service and other times at the home.
People's Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Rosie M. Newman
Rosie Emma Mize Newman, 81, of 4150 Fairystone Park Highway, Bassett, died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2005.
She was born Dec. 28, 1924, to Penalena Hopkins Mize and Charlie David Mize. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
She retired from J.D. Bassett Manufacturing Co. after 35 years of service.
Surviving are a son, Eldon "Sterling" Marshall of Henry; a daughter, Ruby Jean Gann of Martinsville; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Oak Hill Cathedral of Glory in Bassett.
The family will receive friends at 257 Deer Trail Road, Henry.
Memorials may be made to The Memorial Fund for Rosie Newman at any Patrick Henry National Bank branch.

Claude Prunty
Claude Prunty, 72, of 279 Stillmeadow Road, Axton, died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Stanfield-Miller Funeral Home in Martinsville.

Clarence W. Wells
The funeral for the Rev. Clarence W. Wells, 87, of Axton, who died Dec. 20, 2005, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Wrenn-Yeatts, Westover Chapel in Danville. Burial will be in Highland Burial Park.
Surviving are his wife, Edith Jefferson Wells of the home; two brothers, Clifton Wells of Axton and Joe Wells of Danville; and a sister, Ruth W. Barker of Charlotte, N.C.

Charles E. Willard
Charles "Ed" Edward Willard, 61, of Martinsville, died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2005, at Morehead Hospital in Eden, N.C.
He was born in Patrick County on Dec. 26, 1943, to Boss Willard and the late Mary Virginia Willard.
Surviving are a son, Sgt. 1st Class Charles Willard of Arizona; a daughter, Kimberly Page of Rural Hall, N.C.; five brothers, Garland Willard of Stuart, Gifford Willard of Panama City, Fla., Clyde Willard of Stuart, and Herman Willard and Vance Willard, both of Axton; two sisters, Barbara Hall and Betty Hunt, both of Stuart; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Creasy Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Curtis Hall officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.

Jerry W. Barker
The funeral for Jerry Wayne Barker, 39, of Bradyville, Tenn., formerly of Martinsville, who died Dec. 18, 2005, from injuries received in an automobile accident, will be held at 2 p.m. today at McKee-Stone Funeral Services. Burial will be in the Barker family cemetery.
He was born on Jan. 9, 1966, to Harry Barker Sr. and Daisy Edna McMillan Barker, both of Axton.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Jean Barker; and a brother, Harry Barker Jr.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are a daughter, Brittany Barker of Readyville, Tenn.; two sisters, Janice Warren of Murfreesboro, Tenn. and Sandra Bowman of Midland, Mich.; and a brother, Jesse Barker of Ridgeway.

Estelle C. Clark
The funeral for Estelle C. Clark, 88, of Bassett, who died Dec. 19, 2005, was held Thursday at Bassett Funeral Service chapel. Pastors Jimmy Woods and Alvin Nunley officiated. Burial was in Henry Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were James Reel, Brian Craig, Trevor Craig, Rocky Clark, Michael Reel, David Reel, Kevin Edwards, Daniel Edwards and Eric Craig.

Mary M. Clark
Mary Magdalene "Maggie" Clark, 89, of Blue Ridge Rehab Center in Martinsville, died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville. She was a former resident of Patrick County.
She was born March 31, 1916, in Patrick County, to Robert Shough and Jennie Mae Foley Shough, both deceased.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Talton Brown Clark; two sons, Robert F. Clark and Milton Lee Clark; three sisters, Maude S. Rakes, Ada S. Smith and Emma S. Clark; six brothers, Sam Shough, William Shough, Sherman Shough, Jacob Shough, Thomas Shough and John Shough.
Surviving are a son, Leonard Clark of Oak Level; a brother, Warren Shough of Woolwine; and two sisters, Lucy Clark of Charity and Agnes Haynes of Sanville.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Rakes/Foley Cemetery with the Rev. Bobby Rakes officiating.
Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is handling arrangements.

Claude William Vernon Prunty
Claude William Vernon Prunty, 72, of 279 Stillmeadow Road, Axton, died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
He was born Dec. 16, 1933, in Bedford County, to Claude Swanson Prunty and Ottie M. Murphy Prunty, both deceased.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marion Motley; a brother, Carlton Junior Prunty, and two sisters, Mary Fannie Arthur and Stella Mae Rodgers.
An Army veteran, Prunty also was retired and worked at Hooker Furniture for 10 years.
He also was a member of Promise Land Baptist Church in Moneta.
Surviving are two daughters, Melody Prunty of Jamestown, N.Y. and Tiffany Prunty of Buffalo, N.Y., three sons, Lee Wade Prunty of Penhook, Claude Prunty of Jamestown, N.Y. and Harry Clemets of Axton; a brother, George Wilton Prunty of Jamestown, N.Y.; two sisters, Greta Lipford of Callands and Virginia Baker of Axton; and 12 grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Stanfield-Miller Funeral Home with the Rev. Harvey Penn officiating. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Danville.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home Saturday and also at the home of his sister, Virginia Baker, 7063 Mt. Valley Road, Axton.
