Jerry W. Barker
The funeral for Jerry Wayne Barker, 39, of Bradyville, Tenn., formerly of Martinsville, who died Dec. 18, 2005, was held Friday at McKee-Stone Funeral chapel with the Rev. J.D. Harmon officiating. Burial was in the Barker family cemetery.
Pallbearers were James "Boogie" Dillon Jr., Lewis Oliver, Roy McBride, Dennis Jenkins, Jason Huff and Jordan Warren.
James S. Clark
James S. Clark, 34, of Linden, Tenn., formerly of Martinsville, died Friday, Dec. 23, 2005, at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, Tenn.
Arrangements will be announced by Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
Viola D. Davis
Viola D. Davis, 93, of 302 Easley Road, Chatham, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005, at Gretna Health Care.
She was born in Pittsylvania County on Nov. 12, 1912, to Leonard Davis and Susie Wright Davis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son; a sister, Irene Pinkett; and three brothers, Henry Davis, Monroe Davis and Richard Davis.
She was a member of Callands Missionary Baptist Church in Chatham.
Surviving are a sister, Virginia
Carter of Martinsville; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Callands Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Obadele St. George officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home in Gretna.
Dorothy H. Dietrich
Dorothy Hallock Dietrich, 100, died on Friday, Dec. 23, 2005.
She was born in Pittsburgh on March 28, 1905.
Surviving are a daughter, Doris Dietrich of Pittsburgh; two sons, Albert Dietrich of Dallas, Texas and Edgar Dietrich of Martinsville; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday in Pittsburgh.
James R. Greene
James Robert Greene, 61, of 706 Fourth Street, Martinsville, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005, at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville.
He was born in Martinsville on July 1, 1944, to James Greene and Elizaberth Hairston Greene. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He retired from Tultex and was a member of Deliverance Faith Temple. He was a former member of Pilgrim Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn J. Greene of the home; a daughter, Sherry Evette Greene of Virginia Beach; two sons, James R. Greene Jr. and James A. Jones, both of Martinsville; a sister, Janie Bradley of Martinsville; a stepson, Adam Lamont
Jones of Martinsville; and two cousins.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hairston Funeral Home chapel with Bishop Cornell Waller officiating. Burial will be in Peoples Cemetery.
The family will receive friends for one half hour before the service and other times at the home.
David L. Hairston
The funeral for David Leon Hairston, 53, of Bassett, who died Dec. 17, 2005, was held Friday at Faith Tabernacle Holiness Church with Bishop Loretta Parks officiating. Burial was in Carver Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Jim Millner, Freddie Wells, Anthony Estes, Robert Dillard, Joe Lockett, Sherman Manns and William Joyce Jr.
Flowerbearers were Sunday School teachers from the church and nieces and cousins.
Collins Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.
Terri L. Hairston
The funeral for Terri Lynne Hairston, 34, of Bassett, who died Dec. 19, 2005, was held Friday at Bassett Funeral Services chapel with the James Oldfield officiating. Burial was in the Hairston family cemetery.
Pallbearers were Darrell Beam, Rocky Nelson, Rocky Nelson Jr., Walter Hairston Jr., Robert Hairston and David McBride.

The funeral for Claude William Vernon Prunty, 72, of Axton, who died Dec. 21, 2005, was held Saturday at Stanfield-Miller Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Harvey Penn officiating. Burial was in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Danville.
Pallbearers were Ray Fitzgerald, Dale Jones, Richard Witcher, Julius Foster, Jeff Wright, Lindy Rogers and Andrew Rogers.
Flora W. Wade
The funeral for Flora Ellen Walton Wade, 78, of Martinsville, who died Dec. 18, 2005, was held Friday at Moral Hill Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. J. Roland Cohen Sr. officiating. Burial was in Carver Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Deacon Harry Hairston, Deacon Joseph P. Scales and Robert D. Wade.
