Departed this life August 18, 2001, Deaconess Mrs. Charlotte W. Pollard of 10213 Walfe Manor Ct. She is survived by her loving son, Donald W. Pollard Jr.; two grandchildren, Alexandria N. and Donald W. Pollard III; two aunts, Barbara Chance and Helen Smith; several cousins; daughter-in-law, Nicolle Y. Parsons-Pollard; and other relatives and friends among them, Irvin Baskerville. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave. Funeral Wednesday, 11 a.m. at First African Baptist Church, 2600 Hanes Ave., where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time. Rev. Dennis Thomas (pastor) officiating. Interment Signal Hill Memorial Park. Family, friends and organizations assemble at the church 10:45 a.m. Wednesday. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

REID
Earldine Euzelia "Jerry" Reid of 472 Westover Hills Blvd., Apt. 203, departed this life August 17, 2001. She was born January 19, 1926 in Smithfield, N.C. to the late Percy Mitchener and Amanda Sanders Mitchener. Ms. Reid lived in Bronx, N.Y. until she retired ten years ago. She is survived by a devoted family, her companion of 32 years, Earl Maxwell; three grandchildren, Kenneth Reid, Sharon Reid and Charlotte Reid; one great-grandchild, Ashley Bradley; sister, Cora Jean Dickerson; stepbrother, Charles Mitchell; and a nephew, Jermaine Dickerson. A memorial service will be held in Bronx, N.Y.

Carrie C. Rollins of Dawn, Va. departed this life August 18, 2001. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband Clarence Rollins Sr.; six children, Carrie Mills, Ernestine Smith, Cynthia Edwards, Alice Jasper, Clarence Jr. and Thomas Rollins; her mother, Amertha Jones; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; one sister, Bessie Washington; three sons-in-law, Wayne Smith, Richard Mills and Alphonso Edwards Sr.; many other devoted and loving relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Henry W. Dabney Funeral Home, 518 N. Washington Hwy., Ashland. Funeral service 3 p.m. Wednesday at Second Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Dawn, Va. Rev. Marvin Fields officiating. Latoya Nichole Ross, age 20, of 11061 Sampson Lane, Glen Allen, Va., departed this life August 18, 2001. Surviving are her parents, Richard J. and Jacqueline N. Ross; one sister, Tasha C. Ross; maternal grandmother, Harriett Elizabeth Sampson; paternal grandparents, Junious W. and Esther B. Ross; seven aunts, three uncles, great aunts and uncles; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends, two devoted, Edwin Reaves and Antionette Morgan. Miss Ross was a junior at Virginia Commonwealth University. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Pk. Blvd., where the family will receive friends 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. After 12 noon Wednesday, remains will rest in North Gayton Baptist Church, 3244 Pump Road, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Rev. James F. Hedgepath officiating. SAMPSON
Mary Hastings Sampson died Monday, August 20, 2001, at the age of 83 after an extended illness. She is survived by two sisters, Martha Douglas of Jackson, Miss. and Marjorie Lewis of Richmond; brother-in-law, Thomas Lewis; nieces, Gayle Douglas Paull, Bonnie Lewis Stokes and Lindsay Lewis Thomas; nephews, William Dennis Douglas and Thomas Farris Lewis; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was a graduate of Georgetown College and received her master's degree from the Woman's Missionary Training School, Louisville, Ky. She was a Baptist missionary for more than 35 years in China, the Phillipines and Taiwan. She retired from the International Mission Board, Richmond, in 1983. She then made her home in Richmond and was a member of Bon Air Baptist Church. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday (today) and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bon Air Baptist Church Building Fund, 2531 Buford Rd., Richmond, Va.

SELFE
Evelyn Osborne Selfe, age 89, died Monday, Aguust 20, 2001. Arrangements are pending at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 West Broad St., Glen Allen.

SHEARIN
Willie Smith Shearin, 70, of Courthouse Rd., Hopewell, died Monday, August 20, 2001 at his residence. Mr. Shearin served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, a retired carpenter for Lindsey Investment Corporation, and attended Calvary's Love Ministries. Mr. Shearin was the son of the late Overman and Catherine Glidewell Shearin. He is survived by his wife, Edna Flowers Shearin,; daughter, Carmel S. Blake; son, Pastor Sean S. "Rocky" Shearin; two grandchildren, Joshua G. Blake, and Brittany N. Shearin, all of Hopewell; two brothers, Jessie M. Shearin of Dinwiddie, and Robert J. Batte of Victoria; two sisters, Helen S. McCallister of Petersburg, and Rosa L. Glidewell of Victoria. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 22, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Mr. Shearin's son, Pastor Sean S. "Rocky" Shearin of Calvary's Love Ministries officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester.

SKUFCA
Anthony M. (Tony) Skufca Jr., age 48, died August 15, 2001. He was born in Glenwood Springs, Colo., a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity at the University of Maryland, a Virginia Commonwealth University School of Business graduate, employed by Perot Systems Corporation supporting Owens and Minor Inc. as technology system engineer team leader, and was formerly employed at Time Life Customer Service Inc. Survivors include his wife, Beth A. Skufca; parents, Elaine and Tony M. Skufca, Hillsboro, Ore.; sisters, Kris Foster and her husband, Jim, California, Debbie Skufca and Cindy Skufca of Oregon; brothers-in-law, Stephen Randall and his wife, Sue, Conn., Gregory Randall and his wife, Jeanne, Maine; one niece, and four nephews. A memorial service will be conducted 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 22, at Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd. The family will receive friends following the memorial service. SMITH
Thomas Henry Smith Sr., 75, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., formerly of Mechanicsville, Va., departed this life on August 19, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Betty Smith; their daughter, Denise Smith; and sons, Thomas Henry Smith Jr. and his wife of Richmond, R. Taft Cameron of Mechanicsville, Wiley Cameron, Michael Cameron and his wife of Raleigh, N.C.; grandchildren, Thomas Henry Smith III, Stephen Adams, Neill Cameron, Sara Cameron and Scott Cameron. He worked for 30 years at Richmond Ford and was an active member of the community. His family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, August 20, at the Laburnum Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 2110 E. Laburnum Ave., where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 21. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to McGuire VA Hospice, 1201 Broad Rock Blvd., Richmond, Va. 23249.

STEPHENS
Robert Massie Stephens, 90, of Mathews, passed away peacefully at home with his family on Monday, August 20, 2001. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances L. Stephens. He is survived by a daughter, Mary Massie Perry and husband, Elston of Newport News; a son, Robert L. Stephens of Richmond; two granddaughters and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, on Tuesday, August 21, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 22, at 2 p.m., in Mathews Chapel United Methodist Church, Cobbs Creek. Burial to follow in Haynes Cemetery.

TAYLOR
Elizabeth Crawford Taylor, 84, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 18, 2001. She was the former owner and operator of Chipman's Shoe Store in Laurel, Del and a longtime member of Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church in Toano, Va. She was the widow of Lacy F. Taylor and is survived by her daughters, Carol T. Shockley and Betty T. Garrett; sister, Frances C. Smotherman; grandchildren, Erin S. Corbitt and T. Mark Shockley Jr.; great-grandchildren, Jennifer C., Taylor Elizabeth and Robert C. Corbitt III. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10). A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 246, Toano, Va. 23168, or to a charity of your choice.

THREEWITTS
Stella Gray Threewitts, age 74, died August 20, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Leroy C. Threewitts of Emporia; two sisters, Irene C. Yates of Portsmouth and Nellie B. Moseley of Miami, Fla.; two special nieces, Patricia F. Dixon of Portsmouth and Sharon F. Justice of Chesapeake; a nephew, Johnnie Saunders Jr. of Suffolk. Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Thursday at the Echols Funeral Home Chapel, Emporia, with interment to follow in the Emporia Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society for research.

VITALE
Michael Vitale, age 40, of Studley, died August 17, 2001. He was preceded in death by a son, Bryan Michael Vitale; and a sister, Carol Ann Vitale, and is survived by his wife, Susan Gwen Bryan Vitale; his daughters, April Kristen Vitale and Erin Leigh Vitale; his parents, Mary Myers and Jim Vitale; his mothers-in-law and fathers-in-law, Norma and Al Hopper and Nita and Ron Bryan; his brothers and sisters, Charles Vitale, Denise Vitale, Annette Shuff, Cecelia Peay and Tony Vitale; and numerous other family members. Mr. Vitale was the owner and operator of Studley Enterprises and a member of Bear Wallow Hunt Club. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends Tuesday 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hanover Habitat for Humanity, 115 Hanover Ave., Ashland, Va. 23005.

WINGFIELD
Departed this life August 20, 2001, Mrs. Yaeno "Jackie" Wingfield of 2325 Piping Tree Ferry Rd., Mechanicsville. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St. Funeral notice later.

WOOD
Edward Vincent Wood, age 40, of Midlothian, died Sunday, August 19, 2001. He served in the U.S. Air Force for nine years and was a member of St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Melanie S. Wood, Midlothian; son, Everett Arthur Wood; daughter, Colleen Nicole Wood; parents, Frederick P. and June C. Wood, Richmond; brothers, Stephen P. Wood, Cincinnati, Ohio, Thomas L. Wood, Los Angeles, Calif., and Mark F. Wood, Midlothian, Va. The family will receive friends 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., Midlothian, where a Christian Wake service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Belle A. Aitken of Tanglewood Shores, Bracey, died February 4, 2001. Survived by two nieces, Frances Barnett of Venice, Fla. and Thelma A. Shurling of Bracey; two nephews, Ronald Gibbons of Naples, Fla. and Gordon Barnes of Ft. Worth, Texas; and several great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services Tuesday, 7 p.m. in Olive Branch Baptist Church, Blackridge. A committal service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Greenleaf Memorial Cemetery, New Bern, N.C. Departed this life February 2, 2001, Mrs. Mary H. Anderson of Richmond. She is survived by her son, Horace W. Baker Jr.; five grandchildren, Patricia, John Jr. and Michael Butler, Kimberly Baker-Parks and Kristina Molyneaux; three great-grandchildren, Denzel Parks, Gabrielle and Randa Molyneaux; one sister, Ruby Simms; one nephew, other relatives and friends.
