Ms. Maureen Thompson of Richmond, an employee at Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans Hospital, departed this life Saturday, October 20, 2001. She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Sonya, Keith and Karanja Thompson of Texas; six grandchildren; loving mother, Sagatha Thompson; father, James Thompson; devoted grandmother, Virginia Sagatha Davis; grandfather, George Thompson Sr.; sisters, Yvonne Thompson of Texas and DeSylvia Williams; five uncles; one great-aunt; brother-in-law, Joseph Williams; several nieces, nephews, and cousins, among them, devoted cousins, Betty M. Hyde; a host of other relatives and friends, among them, Queen Bennett. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Sts., where funeral services will be held Friday, October 26, 1:30 p.m. Rev. B.S. Giles officiating. Interment Maury Cemetery. Relatives and friends attending funeral services assemble at the funeral home Friday, 1 p.m.

TOWSEY
Milton Earl Towsey, 87, of Chester, formerly of West Broadway, Hopewell, died Tuesday, October 23, 2001 in Chippenham Medical Center, Richmond. Mr. Towsey was born in Mineral, Virginia and had made his home in Hopewell for the past 55 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church, retired from civil service at Ft. Lee, and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He is survived by his wife, Iona Long Towsey of Chester; one daughter, Gwen Towsey Soden and her husband, The Honorable Denis F. Soden of Richmond; one son, Milton Bartow Towsey of Atlanta, Ga.; three granddaughters, Kristin Soden Tetterton of Richmond, Erin Soden Gilbert of Lynchburg, Mary C. Towsey of Atlanta, Ga.; two grandsons, Shaun Patrick Soden of Richmond, and Jack B. Towsey of Hopewell; two great-grandsons, Mason Hawthorne Gilbert and Ezekiel Coleman Gilbert, both of Lynchburg; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Thursday, October 25, 2001, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Friday, October 26, 2001 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Willie S. Cromer, pastor of First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in Bermuda Memorial Park, Chesterfield County. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to First Baptist Church, 401 N. 2nd Ave., Hopewell, Virginia 23860.

WELLS
Emanuel L. Wells Sr. of Columbia, Va. went home to be with the Lord October 22, 2001. he was preceded in death by his son, Emanuel L. Wells Jr. He is survived by his loving wife, Sallie T. Wells; a devoted son, Eugene L Wells and friend, Sandra of Richmond; two daughters, Barbara Holland and husband Early of louisa, Bernetta Foster and husband, Lawrence of Highland Springs; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, October 26, at Columbia Baptist Church. Rev. David Johnson officiating. Interment Rising Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening at the Robert Mealy Funeral Home, Goochland.

WILLIAMS
Departed this life October 21, 2001, Mrs. Alice Jones Williams of 1405 W. Leigh St. She is survived by two daughters, Janice L. Davis and Carla M. Davis; three sons, David W. Davis, Randolph Jr. and Ervin A. Williams; 10 grandchildren, one great-grandson; three sisters, Edith McCray, Catherine Anderson and Gladys M. Jones; one brother, Pernell Glasspie; host of nieces, nephews and cousins; one daughter-in-law, Tonia Williams; one son-in-law, Stephen Smith; one sister-in-law, Maxine Glasspie; two brothers-in-law, Joseph R. Anderson and Ervin Baskerville; and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave., where furneral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Rev. James Ryan officiating. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends and family assemble at the funeral home 12:45 p.m. Friday.

WILLIAMS
Pearl Scott Williams passed away on October 21, 2001 in Miami, Fla. She was born and raised in Caroline Co., Va. and later moved to Washington, D.C. She is survived by three sons, Ronald and Scott Williams of Washington, D.C. and Roger Williams of Miami, Fla.; one brother, George Scott of Dawn, Va.; two sisters, Ann Byrd and Betty Scott of the Washington, D.C. area; one aunt, Rebecca Johnson of Ruther Glen, Va.; one sister-in-law, Judy Scott; two brothers-in-law, James Baylor and James Byrd; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 27, 2001 at Victory Christian Ministry, 5840 Kirby Rd., Clinton, Md. at 11 a.m. Viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. Church telephone number (301)297-5020.

WINDLE
Robert Charles Windle, 77, of Richmond, died October 23, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Anna D. Windle; two children, Barbara L. DiMantova and her husband, Brian and Robert C. "Whistle" Windle II; a brother, Earl T. "Buck" Windle; two sisters, Marie W. Johnson and Joyce W. Harrison; five grandchildren, James T. Strickland Jr., Jennifer Brockman, Janet Windle, Billie Marie and Brian DiMantova; three great-grandchildren, Rachel, Kyle and Hannah Strickland. He was a WWII Army veteran and retired with 43 years of service from Philip Morris. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday. Interment Greenwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Cancer Society.

WOOD
Elizabeth Davis Wood, widow of D. Robley Wood of Salem, Va., died October 22, 2001. She was the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. La Fette Miller Davis of Roanoke. Also preceding her in death were her sister, Margaret Davis Early of Roanoke; and her daughter, Elizabeth Wood Davidson of Lynchburg. She is survived by her son, Dexter Robley Wood Jr. of Chester, his wife, Pat and their two children, Lauren and Robby; her son-in-law, James Lyons Davidson Jr. of Lynchburg; her granddaughter, Elizabeth Davidson Karras of Herndon and her husband, William and three great-grandchildren, Will, Liza and Sally; and also her grandson, James Lyons Davidson III of Lynchburg, his wife, Sarah and three great-grandchildren, Hannah, Libby and Jette. She was a member of the Salem Presbyterian Church. A private service was held October 24, 2001. Those wishing to make memorials might consider the Salem Rescue Squad or the Salem Presbyterian Church.

ALLMOND
On March 15, 2002, Louis E. Allmond, age 79, of Warminster, Pa. Beloved husband of Elizabeth A. "Betty" (nee Cook) Allmond. Dear father of Barbara (Michael) Lix, Donna (Greg) Jenet, Thomas (Lisa), Stephen (Jill) and David Allmond. He also leaves two sisters, five brothers, 11 grandchildren and one great-grandson. Services will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2002, 11 a.m. at the Pamunkey Indian Baptist Church. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested contributions in Louis' memory to the Pamunkey Indian Baptist Church, 1097 Pocahontas Trail, King William, Va. 23086. ASHLEY
Russell B. Ashley, 74, of Fredericksburg, Va. passed away Friday, March 15, 2002 at his farm. Mr. Ashley was a U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include one sister, Ruby Lee Johnson of Charlotte, N.C.; two brothers, Frank Ashley of Fredericksburg and Roderick Ashley of Goodyear, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive visitors 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, at the Fredericksburg Chapel, with interment at Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your favorite charity in remembrance of Mr. Ashley.

COLEMAN
Mary (Lil Mary) Coleman of 907 Porter St., Apt. A, departed this life at MCV Hospital March 15, 2002. Remains rest at the Carlton T. Brooks Funeral Home, 2200 Hull Street. Funeral notice later.

COMSTOCK
John Belden Comstock III, 53, of Richmond, died Thursday, March 14, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Carol E. Comstock, former Director of Constituent Services under Governor James S. Gilmore III's administration; two sons, John B. Comstock IV and Gregory D. Comstock, both of Richmond; and a daughter, Heather C. Perkins of Baltimore, Md. He is also survived by his father, John B. Comstock II of Essex, Conn.; and his mother, Catherine M. Rippel of Fairfield, Conn.; a brother, James B. Comstock of Southport, Conn.; and a sister, Elizabeth C. Hartman of Columbia, S.C. He was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine Friend Wilska. In 1999, John was appointed by Governor Gilmore as a special assistant in the Dept. of General Services and in 2000, he became the Chief Deputy of the Charitable Gaming Commission. John enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country in the Vietname War from 1965 to 1969. He was discharged with two Purple Heart's. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. Tyshawn R. Robert F. "Bob" Genung, 70, of Hampton, father of Alan Genung of Amelia Co., died Sunday, March 17, 2002. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2002 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Ave., Hampton by the Rev. Peg Buelow. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. GILBERT
Gloria F. Gilbert passed away March 16, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Clarence E. Gilbert Sr.; one son, Clarence Jr.; two daughters, Katherine Amory and Brenda Gilbert; one sister, three brothers, six grandchildren. Remains rest at the B.W. GUENTHER
Mae Belle Woodard Guenther, 99, departed this life Sunday, March 17, 2002. She was born in Springfield, Tenn. on June 29, 1902. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Bedford D. Woodard Sr. and Lewis H. Guenther, and is survived by five sons, Bedford Herrell Woodard of Rocky Mount, Va., James David Woodard of Chesterfield, William Eugene Woodard and wife, Delma, Bedford David Woodard Jr. and wife, Claudie, all of Chester, Robert Lee Woodard and wife, Virginia of Urbanna, Va.; three daughters, Virginia W. Wilson of Seaford, Del., Margaret Sue Richard of Lincolnton, N.C., and Della W. Delbridge and husband, Thomas of Chesterfield; stepson, Joseph R. Guenther of San Carlos, Calif.; 18 grandchildren, one stepgrandson, 30 great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Myrtle B. Woodard; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a member of Beulah Methodist Church for 54 years and St. Augustine Catholic Church for 12 years, member of the Iretonettes, Auxiliary of Bishop Ireton, Knights of Columbus Council 6189 and Rovering Retirees Senior Citizens Club. Mae Belle's loving heart and beautiful smile will be truly missed and deeply cherished by those whose lives she touched. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends Monday from 5 to 7 p.m., and where a Christian Wake and Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Augustine Catholic Church, interment Dale Memorial Park. Ruth Revercomb Hoy, 86, of Deerfield, Va., died March 16, 2002. She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Hoy Stevens of Midlothian. A graveside funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Thornrose Cemetery, Staunton, Va. Visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Obaugh Funeral Home, McDowell, Va.

HUDSON
Catherine Harding Hudson, 84, widow of Charles Edgar Hudson, died Sunday March 17, 2002. She is survived by one son, W. Thomas Hudson and wife, Rebecca Moore Hudson; one daughter, Pamela Ann Hudson; two grandchildren, Virginia Moore Hudson and Charles Thomas Hudson and wife, Kimberly. Mrs. Hudson was a retired secretary from W. G. Cosby Co. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave, where the family will receive friends from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2002, and where services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday. JACKSON
John H. Jackson, 75, formerly of Varina, departed this life Saturday, March 16, 2002. He is survived by his children, Lynn and Ron Kirk, Cecelia and Thomas Eubank, all of Richmond, Pat and Neil Huston of Hilton Head, S.C., and Michael Jackson of Toledo, Ohio; one brother, three sisters, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Jackson was the retired owner of Air Filters Inc. He was an avid golfer and member of Glenwood Golf Club. The family will receive friends at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd., 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday at Northside Baptist Church, 7600 Studley Rd.
