RAFFERTY
Joseph Blankenship Rafferty Jr. (Joe), 50, of Dabney Mill Road, Petersburg, took his walk with the Lord on September 11, 2002. A native of Petersburg, he was the son of the late Joseph B. Rafferty Sr. and Vertie Belle Rafferty. Joe was a Honeywell employee for 15 years and a former Brown & Williamson employee for 17 years. He accepted the Lord as his savior in 1986 and was a member of Wimbish Assembly of God in Macon, Ga. He is survived by his wife, Ginger Rafferty; a son, Joseph B. Rafferty III; three grandchildren, Joseph B. Rafferty IV (Blake), Brittany Rafferty and Emma Leiann Rafferty; seven sisters, Ruth Call of Richmond, Marion Lipscomb of Luray, Betty Jo Strader of Ohio, Maryann Daly of Colonial Heights, Shirley Wilson of Richmond, Ethel Loftis of Ohio and Nancy Parsons of Georgia. One sister, Donna Delph of Petersburg preceded him in death. He also left behind many loved ones; cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and beloved friends. Joe will be greatly missed. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 14 at 10 a.m. at Salem Methodist Church in Carson with Pastor Gary Sims officiating. The family will receive friends and loved ones at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son on Friday, September 13 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

ROGERS
John Grayson Rogers, age 76, of Nassawadox, Va., died September 12, 2002 at his home. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Sledd Rogers; two sons, Paul N. Rogers and wife, Peggy and John Grayson Rogers and wife, Bettie W.; two daughters, Lynn C. Rogers and Jennie R. Moore and husband, Matthew V.; seven grandchildren and three nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Kennard Nottingham and Paul Collins Rogers; and two brothers, Paul C. Rogers Jr. and James N. Rogers. Mr. Rogers was a lifetime member of the Coastal Conservation Association and also belonged to the National Turkey Wildlife Federation, the Recreational Anglers Advisory Committee, and the Monday Night Civic Social Inside Straight Club. He attended the University of Virginia and graduated in 1947 from the United States Merchant Marine Academy; he also served in the U.S. Naval Reserves. He was a member of Franktown United Methodist Church where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, September 14 conducted by Rev. Stephen Young. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Coastal Conservation Association, 2100 Marina Shores Dr., Virginia Beach, Va. 23451 or Hospice of The Eastern Shore, P.O. Box 332, Onancock, Va. 23417. Arrangements by Fox & James Funeral Home, Eastville, Va.

SHORT
Gloria J. Short, 60, of Shoshone, Idaho died suddenly, Saturday, September 7, 2002 in Lincoln, Nebraska. A memorial service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, September 13, 2002 at St. Peters Catholic Church, 200 Block of West B Street, Shoshone, Idaho with Fr. Paul Wander as celebrant. A private inurnment will take place at Shoshone Cemetery at a later date. The family suggests memorials be given to St. Peters Catholic Church. Contributions may be given to funeral chapel staff or mailed to Reynolds Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 1142, Twin Falls, Idaho 83303. Services are under the direction of Reynolds Funeral Chapel, Twin Falls.

WALSH
Myrtle H. "Sue" Walsh, 61, of Glen Allen, Va., died Thursday, September 12, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Garrett J. "Joe" Walsh Jr.; two daughters, Donna Sinnery and her husband, Don of Franklin, Mass. and Debbie Smith and her husband, Ray of Mechanicsville, Va.; a sister, Dorothy Beard of Augusta, Ga.; and four grandchildren, Travis and Cory Smith of Mechanicsville, Brandon and Briana Sinnery of Franklin, Mass. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday. Interment Signal Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

WEST
Mrs. Mary G. West of Chester, Va., departed this life Thursday, September 12, 2002. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Sts. Funeral notice later.

WILKINSON
Kenneth Lee Wilkinson of Richmond died September 12, 2002. He is survived by his sister, Carol W. Abbott; daughter, Anne Washbon; two grandchildren; and a dear friend, Helen Mika. Mr. Wilkinson worked for RF&P Railroad for many years and retired from Philip Morris R&D and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in Maury Cemetery.

WILLIAMS
Ann Wirth Williams of Alexandria, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at the age of 54. She is survived by her father, William Collins Wirth; her daughter, Sarah Ramsaur McLean; and son-in-law, Grey McLean; two grandchildren, Connor and Anna McLean; her fiancee, Paul Boran. Ms. Williams was the daughter of Constance Crowe Wirth, who passed away earlier this year. Ms. Williams grew up in Richmond, Va. and was a graduate of Mary Baldwin College and UCLA's School of Library and Information Science. She was a faithful parishioner at Christ Church Episcopal in Alexandria and an employee of the American Health Care Association in Washington, D.C. from 1993 until her death. The family will receive visitors at Demaine Funeral Home, 520 South Washington Street, Alexandria, Va., on Friday, September 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Christ Church Episcopal, 118 North Washington Street, Alexandria, Va. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, Texas 75265-0309. She was a beloved mother, daughter, and friend who will be greatly missed. Demaine Funeral Home, Alexandria is handling the arrangements.

ATWILL
Eunice Settle Atwill, age 103, affectionately known as "NuNu" to her friends and family, died on September 13, 2002 in Tappahannock, Va. Born in 1899 at Lara, Northumberland County, Virginia, the daughter of Frank Settle and his wife, Eunice Pike Healy, she taught in schools throughout the Northern Neck at Callao, Cople, Piney Grove, Sharps and Templemans before her marriage to Robert Atwell in 1931. Following her husband's death in 1960, she became manager of the Gift Shop at Stratford Hall. She is survived by her niece, Elizabeth "Lou" Yeatman; and great-nephew, Allen Yeatman of Montross with whom "NuNu" made her home for 35 years before moving to the Skilled Nursing Facility at Riverside Tappahannock Hospital in 1995. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Virginia Settle of Dahlgren and Lillian Settle of Spotsylvania; other nieces, Willianna Settle Abrams of Seminole, Fla. and Mary Settle Johnson of Panama City, Fla.; nephews, Frank Settle III, Robert W. Settle, Richard H. Settle and Fairfax H. Settle of Tappahannock. The family will receive friends at Welch Funeral Home, Montross, on Sunday, September 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Nomini Baptist Church, Templemans, near Montross, on Monday, September 16 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Nomini Baptist Church, P.O. Box 186, Montross, Va. 22520.

BARONIAN
Margaret (Margie) K. Baronian, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, departed this life September 13, 2002. She was preceded in death by her first born son, John N. Baronian Jr. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, John N. Baronian; daughter, Becky Greene; son, Steven A. Baronian; daughter-in-law, Luann; three wonderful grandchildren, Stephanie Margaret Greene, Harrison and Hayden Baronian; brother, James Karabedian and wife, Dorothy of Toledo, Ohio; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was an active member of St. James Armenian Church for many years and enjoyed playing tennis. She will be remembered for her fun loving spirit, zeal for life and her generosity to family and friends. Mrs. Baronian was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her life was her family and she lived every day caring for and loving them, and left beautiful memories which will be cherished forever. She will be deeply missed. The family will receive friends 12 Noon to 2 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. on Monday at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m. at St. James Armenian Church, 6300 Patterson Ave. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James Armenian Church, Richmond, or the Henrico Humane Society.

Sara Howell Clark, age 91, of the Masonic Home of Virginia, died Thursday, September 12, 2002. She was the widow of Arthur L. Clark Sr. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Arthur L. Clark Jr. of High Point, N.C., Beverly J. and Janet B. Clark of Richmond and James C. and Patricia C. Clark of Sandston; a brother, Charles Howell and his wife, Joyce of Sacramento, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Remains rest at the Laburnum Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 2110 East Laburnum Ave., where friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and where services will be held 11 a.m. Monday. Madeline Corr, 82, of Spotsylvania, died September 13, 2002 at Orange County Nursing Home. She was a daughter of the late Basil and Lillian H. Walls. She is survived by her husband, Wilson M. Corr; sons, Rev. Wilson M. Corr Jr. of Mine Run, Va., and B. Harris Corr of Chesterfield; grandchildren, Tim Corr of Mine Run, Ashley Shane Corr of Chesterfield, Todd Corr of Spotsylvania, Brandon Corr of Chesterfield, and Tanya Wolfrey of Spotsylvania; seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and sister, Katherine Terrell of Chesterfield. Funeral service Monday, September 16, 2 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home, Locust Grove, Va. Rev. Wilson M. Corr Jr. and Rev. Joseph B. Anderson officiating. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fredericksburg, Va. Visitation Sunday, September 15, 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Leroy Cousins Jr., saxophonist, departed this life September 11, 2002. Predeceased by his parents, Leroy Sr. and Mary E. Cousins, he is survived by his wife, Tracey Cousins; daughter, Brittany Cousins; stepson, Antoine Harris; sisters, Renita Cousins and Deborah Cousins; brothers, Clifton Johnson and Sterling Johnson; mother-in-law, Frances Manuel; several aunts and uncles, among them devoted, Dorothy R. Stith and Fannie Mosley; two sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, other relatives and friends. His remains rest at the W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home, where his family will receive friends 7 to 8 p.m. Monday. After 10 a.m. Tuesday, his remains will rest at Trinity Baptist Church, where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Rev. A. Lincoln James Jr. officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Mary Helen Thomas Dean, 68, of Chesterfield, former employee with Ukrop's, passed away September 11, 2002. She was the widow of Edgar Dean and is survived by three daughters, Jo Ann T. Cardwell, Mary S. Webb and her husband, Mike and Nita T. Stepp and her husband, Jim; seven sisters, Paige Watson, Lucille Welch, Roberta Kirby, Deloris Rideout, Carolyn Ray, Ruth Boykins and Betty Thomas; one brother, Clarence Thomas Jr.; five grandchildren, Brandie, Ryan, Ricky Jr., Jonathan and Cory; also three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Dean was preceded in death by her son and brother, Ricky Lee Tanner and Boots Thomas. The family will receive friends Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m. at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., where services will be held Monday, 11 a.m. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association (800) 272-3900.
