GORDON
Eva Glenelle Gordon (Dinty), 79, of Richmond, has left this life to dance with the angels. She is survived by three sons, Earl Huband, Lee Huband and Bobby Huband; one brother, Garvin Hamner; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and many, many friends through Dinty's School of Dance. A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Thursday at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association in memory of Dinty's cousin and lifelong companion, Audrey Martin.

HAGUE
Eugene R. Hague, 71, of Mechanicsville, died Sunday, December 31, 2000. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lethea B. Hague; two sons, Kenneth E. Hague and Kevin L. Hague, both of Mechanicsville; daughter, Leslie M. Hague of Anchorage, Alaska; a grandson, Jeremy L. Hague; a granddaughter, Brittany N. Hague; and a daugher-in-law, Carolyn F. Hague, all of Mechanicsville. Mr. Hague was a retired electrician, a longtime member of the Civil Air Patrol, and served in the Virginia Air National Guard. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd. where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2001. Interment Signal Hill. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Lupus Foundation.

HARKINS
Francis Xavier Harkins, 79, of Midlothian, departed this life on January 2, 2001. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Doris C. Harkins; one son, Thomas Harkins, Durham, N.C.; four daughters, Laura Chalkley, Falls Church, Va., Jane Sheehan, Richmond, Elaine Ireland, Ellicott City, Md. and Christine Grace, Great Mills, Md.; seven grandchildren, Charles Chalkley, Daniel and Matthew Sheehan, David and Margaret Ireland and Emily and Kevin Grace; and two sisters, Theresa Mahoney and Eleanor Lee, both of Kill Devil Hills, N.C. Mr. Harkins was a career civil servant with the Department of Transportation (FAA). He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Knights of Columbus, the Air Force Escape and Evasion Society, the 390th Bomb Group Veterans Association, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated Friday, January 5, 2001 at 1 p.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2480 Batterson Rd., Powhatan, Va. 23139. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. John Neumann Building Fund.

HARRIS
Thomas H. Harris Jr., 83, of Richmond, widower of Evelyn B. Harris, died Wednesday, January 3, 2001. He is survived by his sister, Marie H. Thurston and her husband, Gordon W. Thurston of Richmond; a nephew, Thomas W. Thurston of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and a niece, Beverly M. Thurston of Richmond. Mr. Harris had been a longtime homebuilder in the Richmond area. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, January 5, in the chapel of River Road Church, Baptist. Interment private in Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to River Road Church, Baptist. Arrangements by the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home.

HORSLEY
Harry Louis Horsley, age 71, of Sandston, Va., died Tuesday, January 2, 2001. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lessie McPeak. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Clark Horsley; his children, Patricia Horsley of Richmond, David L. Horsley Sr. of Providence Forge, Va., Diana L. Foreman of Richmond, Mary F. Schoen of Alexandria; his stepchildren, Gretchen L. Ellison and Kelly C. Lowe of Reidsville, N.C.; also nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; his sister, Rachel Williams of Henry, Va. Remains rest Laburnum Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 2110 E. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday. Interment Washington Memorial Park.

HOWLETT
Mrs. Minnie A. Howlett of South Richmond, departed this life Wednesday, January 3, 2001. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Sts. Funeral notice later.

HUBAND
Jean Sylvia Edmiston Huband, 65, of Richmond, a noted local artist and widow of Dr. Albert L. Huband Jr., died suddenly in her home on January 2, 200l. She is survived by her sons, Dr. J. Daniel Huband of Richmond, Dr. Michael L. Huband of Manhatten, N.Y. and a daughter, Ms. Hae H. Codori of Wilmington, N.C.; brothers and sisters, Margaret Edmiston, Stephen Edmiston, and Rev. Rebecca Edmiston; and granddaughter, Madelyn Danielle Loeb Huband. Mrs. Huband was an active member of the Hand Workshop and an avid gardener. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday. Interment Bermuda Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hand Workshop Art Center.

HUGHES
Jack Olander Hughes, 70, a lifelong resident of Sussex County, died January 2, 2001 at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg. Mr. Hughes was a son of the late Samuel Clarence and Alla Mae Ellis Hughes, a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church and was a retired peanut farmer. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Hazel Johnson Hughes; one sister, Geneva H. Setien of Richmond; sister-in-law, Nancy T. Hughes of Dendron; brother-in-law, John C. Compton of Virginia Beach; four nephews, and five nieces. Mr. Hughes was predeceased by a sister and two brothers, Mary Ellis Compton, Samuel Clarence Hughes Jr. and Robert Clifton Hughes, M.D. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin. The burial will be at Rosemont Cemetery, Sedley. Mrs. Hughes will receive friends at her residence and suggests that memorials be made to the Waverly Rescue Squad or a favorite charity.

JACKSON
Irving K. Jackson of Roanoke, Va., formerly of Richmond, died December 31, 2000. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Gladys L. Spurlock and her husband, Russell; several nieces, nephews and cousins; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Christine Farmer; a loving caretaker, Lorraine Franklin of Roanoke, Va. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd. Graveside services will be held Friday 11 a.m. at Riverview Cemetery. Rev. Ronald Taylor officiating.

JACKSON
Willie Thomas Jackson, 79, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2000. Mr. Jackson was a native of Brunswick County, Va., and a former resident of Petersburg, Va., before moving to Newport News, Va., in 1988. He was a self-employed contractor for over 40 years. He is survived by his daughters, Faye Myrick and her husband, Herbert of Chase City, Va., and Bonnie Bowen and her husband, Glen of Bowling Green, Va.; two sons, George Jackson and his wife, Sylvia of Alberta, Va., and Stanley Jackson of Smithfield, Va.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Service will be private by family. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 895 Middleground Blvd., Suite 154, Newport News, Va. 23606. Amory Funeral Home, Grafton, is in charge of the arrangements.

JONES
Stanley Sidney "Lil Bill" Jones peacefully drifted away into eternal rest on Sunday, December 31, 2000. He was born October 19, 1920 to the late Robert B. and Princetta C. Jones. He was preceded in death by his five brothers, including his twin, "Big Bill"; and one sister. In 1949 he was united in holy matrimony to Marion Crump, that survived 52 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Marion C. Jones; a devoted daughter, Gail Jones Green; son-in-law, Robert C. Green; devoted grandchildren, Jonathan and Sydney Green. In addition, he leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Virginia J. King from his first marriage; her husband, Willie King; two grandsons and six great-grandchildren, a host of other relatives and friends. Remain rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St., where funeral services will be held Friday 12 noon. Rev. Ronald C. Taylor officiating. Burial Forest Lawn Cemetery.

KAUFFMAN
James Clarence Kauffman Sr., (Jim), 61, of Roanoke, died Monday, January 1, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Dale McNew Kauffman, whom he married on May 11, 1957. Also surviving are a daughter, Terry K. Talbott and husband, Michel of Richmond; two sons, James C. Kauffman Jr. and wife, Marlee, Everett E. Kauffman and wife, Traci, all of Roanoke; four grandchildren, Nicole, Monica and Gabrielle Talbott, all of Richmond, Caleb Kauffman of Roanoke. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Evelyn C. McNew; one sister, Joyce K. Snyder and husband, John of Jefferson, Md.; one stepbrother, Conley U. Vick Jr. and wife, Susan; one nephew, Wesley Burnette and wife, Adonna, and their children, Melissa and Brandon, all of Jefferson, Md. Mr. Kauffman was preceded in death by his father, James Earl Kauffman, in 1938; and his mother, Lynette Vick Kauffman in 1999. The family will receive friends at Oakey's South Chapel, 4257 Brambleton Avenue, Roanoke, Va. 24018 on Friday, January 5, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, January 6, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 6, at Oakey's South Chapel.

LANNING
Betty Jean Mahanes Call Lanning of Richmond passed away January 3, 2001. She is survived by her son, Barry B. Call; her daughter, Sally M. Call; and her stepdaughter, Virginia L. Adams; one brother, Flint B. Mahanes Jr.; two sisters, Phyllis M. Layton, Ruby B. Morrison; three stepgrandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, and where a funeral service will be held 12:30 p.m. Saturday, followed by interment in Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Crippled Children's Hospital.

LAWLOR
Harold J. Lawlor, 82, of Richmond, died Monday, January 1, 2001, after a long illness. He is survived by his wife, Anne Seward Lawlor; and his children, Eileen M. Lawlor of Monterey, Mass., Susie K. Lawlor of St. Petersburg, Fla., and H. Seward Lawlor and his wife, Rebecca N. Lawlor of Hampton, Va.; a granddaughter, Claire Lawlor of Hampton; two sisters, Bridget Krochmal of East Hanover, N.J. and Patricia Napolipano of New York, N.Y. Mr. Lawlor was a retired realtor and former owner of Harold J. Lawlor & Company and retired as Lt. Col. after 29 years of service in the U.S. Army Reserves. Family will receive friends at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Tuckahoe Volunteer Rescue Squad or the Richmond Home for Boys.

McCRAW
C. W. McCraw, 74, of Richmond, passed away January 3, 2001. A retired businessman, C.W. was a World War II Navy Veteran and a graduate of Guilford College in Greensboro, N.C. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lena A. McCraw; his sons, Mike McCraw of Spartanburg, S.C., and Steve McCraw of Cleveland, Ohio; daughters, Rebecca Ringley of Quinton, Va., and Elizabeth Delgatto of Anaheim, Calif.; grandchildren, Michael and Neil McCraw of Spartanburg, Michelle, Katherine and Blair Ringley of Quinton; Christine Troyano and Charlene Lafferty of New Jersey; and great-grandchildren, McKenzi and Shane Troyano; and his aunt, Betty Stephens of Winston-Salem, N.C.; He was preceded in death by his beloved son-in-law, E. David Ringley. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. C.W. was an avid gardener, hunter, and fisherman. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Virginia Wildlife Association, 4005 W. Broad St., Richmond, Va. 23230.

McDONOUGH
Mildred O'Grady McDonough, 76, of Lexington, died Monday, January 1, 2001, at Stonewall Jackson Hospital, Lexington. Mrs. McDonough was born October 31, 1924 in Richmond, Va., a daughter of the late John and Marie Herbert O'Grady. She attended the Medical College of Virginia and was a registered nurse on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona. She was preceded in death by her husband, Col. James A. McDonough in 1991. They were married after WWII and moved to Lexington where he was a professor of civil engineering at VMI. She was an active volunteer at Stonewall Jackson Hospital and various other community organizations. She is survived by her children, Patricia A. Neofotis and husband, George of Lexington, James A. McDonough Jr. and wife, Lee of Saxapahaw, N.C., and Jeanne Marie McClure and husband, Ron Clawson of Martinsburg, W.Va.; brother, Russell O'Grady of Montross, Va.; two sisters, Josephine Carter and Jeanne O'Grady, both of Mechanicsville, Va.; five grandchildren, Stephanie, Nicole, and Peter Neofotis, Jennifer McDonough and Anne Marie McClure. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2001, at Church of the Redeemer, Mechanicsville, with Father Jim Begley officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Richmond. There will be a memorial celebration of her life in the spring at Water Trough Hill, Lexington. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stonewall Jackson Hospital, Rockbridge SPCA, or the Lexington Life Saving Crew. Arrangements by Williams-Wilson Funeral Service, Lexington.
