PEEPLES
Bertha M. Peeples, 77, died on May 30, 2002. The family will receive friends and condolences at 4408 Clarkson Road, Richmond, Va. Remains rest at Pearson Funeral Service, 556 Halifax St., Emporia, Va.

REGELSON
A memorial service will be held for Dr. William Regelson, medical pioneer, Monday, June 3, at 3 p.m. at the MCV Medical Sciences Building, 13th and Marshall Streets, Richmond, Va.

SMITH
Departed this life May 31, 2002, Mr. Emmett Smith Jr. of Henrico County, former owner of Lewis Furniture Company. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 North 25th Street. Funeral notice later.

SNYDER
Owen A. Snyder, a Richmond resident since 1953, died May 31, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Edna M. Snyder. A son, Rick Snyder, was killed in a plane accident in 1979 in Aspen, Colorado. Mr. Snyder was born in Paris, Tenn., attended college in Bowling Green, Ky., and was employed by North American Coal Corp., Prenter, W.Va. from 1937 through 1941. He served in the U.S. Navy Supply Corps from 1941 to 1945 on new ship commissioning units in Philadelphia and in South Pacific areas. After a short period of employment with U.S. Gypsum Co., he joined Reynolds Metals Co. in Louisville, Ky. in 1947. He was transferred to Richmond in 1953. He held various positions in production control, metal planning and distribution, and retired after 35 years of service. He was a member of Derbyshire Baptist Church and a life member of Hermitage Country Club. Remains rest at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad St., where friends will be received from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, and where a funeral service will be held on Monday, June 3, at 11 a.m. Private entombment in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Derbyshire Baptist Church, 8800 Derbyshire Rd., Richmond, Va. 23229, or Hampden Sydney College, Hampden Sydney, Va. 23943.

VAN
NESS In loving memory of Richard L. Van Ness Sr., age 63, who went to be with his Lord May 30, 2002. He is loved by his wife, Sandra R. Van Ness; his children, Rick Van Ness (Kayla, Trey and Mary Grace), Myra Bentley and her husband, Tony (Allison), Robin Zupo and her husband, Tommy (Shane and Hunter). Mr. Van Ness had 22 years of service as a conductor with CSX. He was a U.S. Marine veteran and a member of the Masonic Lodge. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday (today), and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park.

WEINERS
Alice K. Weiners, 79, of Richmond, formerly of Long Island, New York, died Thursday, May 30, 2002. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Tansey; son, William E. Anderson; seven grandchildren, Christine Johnson, Debra Tansey, Shannon Smith, Robert E. Tansey II, Robert and Stacey Anderson and William Anderson Jr.; also nine great-grandchildren. Mrs. Weiners was a naval veteran of World War II and a former volunteer at McGuire VA Hospital. The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 pm Sunday at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road. A graveside service will be conducted 1:30 pm Monday at Quantico National Cemetery.

WHITE
Christine Ricks White, 84, of Richmond went to be with her Lord on May 30, 2002. A memorial service will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Jahnke Road Baptist Church, 6023 Jahnke Road. Visitors will be received at the family home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, and immediately following the memorial service. Burial services will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at High Hills Baptist Church in Jarratt, Virginia. Christine was born March 14, 1918 in Druryville, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Leonard Joffre White; her parents, David Crockett Ricks and Eunice (Docie) Leake Snidow Ricks; her sister, Alverda French Ricks Brown; and her brother, Beverly Clarke Ricks. She is survived by her sister, Rebecca Britt Ricks of Jarratt, Virginia; her four children and their spouses, Lynda and Frank Kenyon of Richmond, Don and Patty White of Lenexa, Kansas, Sylvia and Kent Williams of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Robin and Don Whitenack of Powhatan County. She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren, Sheri Ogburn, Ginger and Stephanie Glazebrook, Bryan, Karen and Elizabeth White, Erin and Emma Williams, and Nigel and Tiffany Whitenack; and her two great-grandchildren, Stephen and Taylor Ogburn. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Jahnke Road Baptist Church Outreach Ministries.

WILMOTH
Tad A. Wilmoth, of Midlothian, passed away suddenly on May 30, 2002. Funeral notice later.

ADKINS
Gladys Hall Everett Adkins, widow of Berkley B. Adkins, died Sunday, July 22, 2001. She was preceded in death by her son, Leonard Ray Everett. Survivors include a loving sister, Arnette Hall Atkins; a daughter-in-law, Dora Everett; a stepdaughter, Linda B. Adkins; three granddaughters, Terre E. Hooe, Rhonda L. Everett and Laura Everett-Hall; and six great-grandchildren. Friends may call 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, 2 to 3:30 and 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. Interment Forest Lawn. Mrs. Adkins was a longtime member of First Baptist Church and the Palmore Bible Class (formerly the Ann Judson Class). She retired in 1976 from Duplex Envelope Co. after 35 years of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Television Ministry of First Baptist Church.

BARDENHEIER
Frank Bardenheier, 62, of Richmond, departed this life Sunday, July 22, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Rosemarie Bardenheier; sons, Daryl and Gregory Bardenheier; a daughter, Michele Hopkins; brothers, Dr. Jean and Fred Bardenheier; a sister, Mary Sherblum.; and eight grandchildren. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and where funeral services will be held 12:30 p.m. Thursday. Interment Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

DONOVAN
Connie M. Donovan, 59, of Columbia S.C., died Sunday, July 22, 2001. Memorials may be made to Oliver Gospel Mission, 1100 Taylor St., Columbia, S.C. 29201. Mrs. Donovan was born in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the daughter of Marie Suttle McGrath and the late Frank McGrath. Surviving are her daughter, Laura Rippy of Pawleys Island, S.C.; sons, David Donovan of Columbia, S.C. and Michael Donovan of Atlanta, Ga.; brother, Ron McGrath of Milwaukee, Wis.; sister, Donna Lohr of Chicago, Ill.; mother of Augusta, Ga.; and four grandchildren.

EZELLE
Neysa Fleming Ezelle, 79, of 1556 Lynne Avenue, Henderson, N.C., died Saturday, July 21, 2001. Born in Roanoke County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles C. and Loffie Elizabeth Sanders Fleming. She was the widow of Wallace Carlyle Ezelle. Surviving are a daughter, Donna E. LeNeave of Vass. N.C.; a son, Richard C. "Dick" Ezelle of Martinsville, Va.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Flowers Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, at 1 p.m. at Flowers Funeral Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Charles Cook. Burial will follow at 3:30 p.m. in Lake View Cemetery, Victoria, Va. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, General Fund, 114 Church Street, Henderson, N.C. 27536. Flowers Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Departed this life July 23, 2001, Mrs. Doris P. Gladney of 1414 Winder St. She is survived by her husband, Robert Lee Gladney; stepdaughter, Carolyn Johnson; sister-in-law, Mozelle Davis; nephew, William Harris and wife, Frances Harris; niece Mariquette Street and husband, Henry Street; stepson-in-law, Albert Johnson; several great-nieces, nephews and cousins; godchildren, Nealer Brown, Namon Hill and Brenda Hill, and other relatives and friends, among them, Eva Word. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave., where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Rev. James Ryan officiating. Interment Riverview Cemetery. Family and friends assemble at the funeral home 10:45 a.m. Wednesday. Please omit food.

GRAY
Otis Cleveland Gray, age 87, of Mechanicsville, Va., passed away Sunday, July 22, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Louise P. Gray: his children, C. Wayne Gray and his wife, Brenda, Joan Hollins and her husband, Bobby: grandchildren, Jonathan and his wife, Jennifer, Erin, Heidi, Gray and Evan. He is also survived by three brothers and a sister, Robert Gray, Paul Gray, Pat Gray and his wife, Jewel and Pauline Lowe. Mr. Gray was retired from Philip Morris and served in the United States Navy during WWII. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Atlee Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, Route 301 and Shady Grove Road. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. thursday at Northside Baptist Church. Interment Signal Hill Memorial Park. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Music Program at Northside Baptist Church, 6400 Studly Rd. Mechanicsville, 23116.

Miss Jane Dixon Griffiths, 83, of Richmond, died July 23, 2001. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, David, Patsy, Betsy, Judy, Bonnie, Jimmy, Joan, David and Beth. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends Tuesday 2 to 4 and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and where funeral services will be held 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to the Church of the Epiphany, 8000 Hermitage Rd., Richmond, Va. 23228.

HAWKES
Mildred Dance Hawkes, age 73, of Crewe, window of Reede Hawkes, died Monday, July 23, 2001. She is survived by three children, Robert C. Hawkes of Crewe, Debra H. Patterson of Farmville, Gayle H. Coey of Prince George; five grandchildren, John Edward Patterson IV, James Reede Patterson, Joseph Abbitt Patterson, Courtney Brooke Davis, Shannon Bayly Davis; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lois D. Reeves, Marguerite D. St. Clair and husband, John, all of Chester and Lillian D. Bryant of Richmond; two brothers, Clyde R. Dance Jr. and wife, Doris of Prince George, Milton E. Dance and wife, Christine of Richmond; and a number of devoted friends. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at the Crewe Baptist Church with Dr. Ben Powers officiating. Interment in the Crewe Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Jennings-McMillian Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Crewe Baptist Church, Nottoway County Emergency Squad or Hospice of Central Virginia, 202 Clark Street, Farmville Va. 23901.

HAYNIE
Garnette Walker Haynie, age 90, of Lively, Va., died Monday, July 23, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alpha Sydnor Haynie; and a daughter, Adell H. Davis and is survived by two daughter, Clara Lee Courtney, Hopewell, Va. and Roberta H. Lewis, Lively, Va.; a son, Robert S. Haynie, White Stone, Va.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Beane Cemetery, Miskimon, Va.

JACKSON
Departed this life on July 22, 2001, Christopher Jackson Sr. Remains rest at Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Ave. Funeral notice later.
