WIEBER
Mary Agnes Wieber of Richmond, widow of Lawrence J. Wieber, died February 5, 2002. She is survived by five children, Peggy Wieber, Tom Wieber and his wife, Lyle, Gerard Wieber, Cathy Daly and her husband, Dan, Michael Wieber and his wife, Michelle; eight grandchildren and one great-grandson. Mrs. Wieber was a volunteer at St. Mary's Hospital. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, with a Christian Wake being held at 7 p.m. Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Interment Greenwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

WILKINS
George Wilkins departed this life on February 5, 2002. Remains rest at Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Ave. Notice of funeral later.

WOOD
Kenneth Wayne Wood Sr., 49, of Dillwyn, died Monday, February 4, 2002 at his residence. Kenneth was a life-long resident of Buckingham County. Kenneth Wood was owner and operator of Sundown Kennels. He was a dominator in his profession of breeding and hunting fox and deer hounds. Kenneth and his champion stud dogs are well known throughout the Eastern Shore, by winning numerous championships at fox dog competitions. Kenneth is survived by his parents, Celia Wood Branch of Dillwyn and John Daniel Wood Jr. of Powhatan; four children, Tammie Wood Smith and husband, Gene of New Canton, Nancy Lou Wood Smith and husband, Ray of Dillwyn, Kenneth Wayne Wood Jr. of Dillwyn and Eric Wayne Wood of Dillwyn; and one grandchild, Lucas Ray Smith of Dillwyn; two brothers, John "Danny" Wood III of Cartersville and James R. Wood of Mitchells; two sisters, Gloria Jean W. Waycaster and husband, Michael of Dillwyn and Susan W. Taylor and husband, Steve of New Canton. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, along with lots of family and friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Buckingham Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn. Memorial contributions may be made to the Buckingham Co. Volunteer Rescue Squad, or to your favorite charity.

ANTHONY
Joseph G. Anthony Jr., 59, of Richmond, entered eternal rest March 21, 2001. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Vicky Anthony. He is survived by his wife, Martha "Marty" Anthony; two sons, Joseph G. Anthony III and George Michael Anthony Sr.; three grandchildren, Victoria Lynn Anthony, George Michael Anthony Jr. and Christian Wayne Anthony; and one sister, Theresa A. Esper. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, and where a Christian Wake service will be held 8 p.m. Friday. A funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony's Maronite Catholic Church. Interment Mount Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony's Maronite Catholic Church, National Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon or a charity of your choice.

ASKEW
Gertrude B. Askew of Cambridge, Mass., formerly of Richmond, died on March 15, 2001, in her home in Cambridge. She was 94. The widow of the late Hiram T. Askew of Richmond, she is survived by their daughter, Gertrude Harkins of Cambridge; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She also leaves a brother, William A. Bowers of Richmond; and two sisters, Mollie Franklin of Aylett, Va., and Maria Nelson of Chalfont, Pa. Burial is private. A memorial service is planned for the spring in Richmond. Donations in her memory may be sent to Hospice Care Inc., 41 Montvale Avenue, Stoneham, Mass. 02180 or a charity of one's choice.

BAISH
Helen S. Baish, 88, of North Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of Richmond, Va., died Monday, March 19, 2001, in Cape Coral, Fla. She was born November 18, 1912, in Pittsburgh, Pa. Coming from Richmond, Va., she was a member of St. Bridget's Catholic Church, and after moving to southwest Florida nine years ago, she was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church of Cape Coral. She is survived by her loving daughters, Patricia S. (Frank) Smith of North Fort Myers, Fla., and Nancy (Richard) Thompson of Roanoke, Va.; grandchildren, Stephen (Melanie) Splan, Keith (Sabrina) Thompson and Stephanie Mustain; stepgrandchildren, Karen Hernandez, Tim Smith and Gregg Smith; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Shane, Patrick, Tyler and Brian; 12 stepgreat-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 24, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bridget's Catholic Church and entombment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Family will receive friends Friday, March 23, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., 355-3800.

BALL
Rena Balducci Ball, 92, died on March 20, 2001, at home. She is survived by a son, Angelo Iannuzzi; sisters, Elda Corso, Bianca Moore, Vienna Loving, Aida Keller; brothers, Giotto, Rino and Baldo Balducci, all of Richmond; and many nieces and nephews. Widow of Joseph Frank Ball. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday with a Rosary at 7 p.m. at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Friday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 300 N. Sheppard St., Richmond, Va. 23221. In lieu of flowers, make donations to St. Benedict Catholic Church. Interment private.

BARRIE
Kenneth Glenn Barrie, 86, of Richmond, died Monday, March 19, 2001. He was born in Plymouth, N.H., the son of Winnie Bickford Barrie and Norman Barrie. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Doris Hall Barrie and is survived by two daughters, Linda B. Campbell and Lois B. Mays and her husband, Mike; grandchildren, Alice Bowman and her husband, Bob, William E. Campbell Jr., Jennifer Yoch and her husband, Keith, Barrie Martin and her husband, Len, and Jeff Mays and his wife, Rana; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Elaine and Leah Yoch, Noah Bowman, Ryan and Cassidy Martin; also a devoted caregiver, Crystal Williams. Mr. Barrie began his career after high school graduation at S.S. Pierce and Co., Boston, Mass., where he went door-to-door taking grocery orders. He later worked in various sales jobs in New England, moving to Virginia in 1954 and working for 35 years selling roofing for Ruberoid Co. which later became the GAF Corp. He later was an architect's representative for Tamko Corp., retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Grand Lodge of Connecticut, Hiram Blue Lodge, 32nd Degree Mason, and a 50-year member; member, deacon and trustee of First Congregational Christian Church for 47 years; and a member of the former Engineers Club of Richmond. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., where services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday. Interment with Masonic memorial rites in Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Congregational Christian Church, 4310 Courthouse Rd., Chesterfield, Va. 23832.

BOSWELL
Ruth C. Boswell of Richmond, widow of Robert L. Boswell, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001. She is survived by her son, G. Wayne Boswell and his wife, Jody; two grandsons, Kevin C. and Scott C. Boswell; and a step-granddaughter, Melissa Boswell. She is also survived by two sisters, Jean P. Duke and her husband, Harry of Richmond and Ruby Belle Flanagan of Columbia; two brothers and their wives, Raymond K. and Helen Carter of Richmond and Monroe (Billy) and Helen Carter of Powhatan. Mrs. Boswell was a retiree of Philip Morris and a member of Patterson Avenue Baptist Church. Her family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., where funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park. BOWLES
Died March 20, 2001, Leonard Earl Bowles of Doswell. He is survived by his wife, Ella Lee Bowles; children, Janet Searles and Steve Bowles; sister, Lois Chenault; brother, Edward Bowles; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Road, where the family will receive friends Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and where services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. Interment Mt. BOWMAN
Florence Cline Bowman, affectionately known as "Florrie," died Monday, March 19, 2001, in Midlothian, Va., where she had resided for the last four years. She was the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Benjamin F. Cline of New Jersey. She attended Bridgewater College and the Phoenix Art Institute of New York, now known as the New York Art Institute. Upon completion of her art studies, she married J. Maurice Bowman of Franklin County, Va., who preceded her in death in 1995 after 59 years of marriage. Mrs. Bowman was instrumental in establishing the art program at Franklin County High School, which remains in place to this day. She is survived by two sons, John M. Bowman and wife, Emmagene of Roanoke, Va., and Cordell F. Bowman and wife, Marlene of East Sussex, England. She is also survived by two daughters, Kip Bowman Gruemer and husband, Hans of Richmond, Va., and Phyllis Bowman Carpenter and husband, Ron of Chester, Va.; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Acting as pallbearers will be the grandchildren of the deceased, Andrew Bowman, Daniel Bowman, Philip Bowman, Nicholas Bowman, Danielle Carpenter and Emilee Carpenter. The family will hold visitation on Friday, March 23, 2001, from 2 to 4 p.m. and again from 7 to 9 p.m. at Oakey's Funeral Home, South Chapel, Roanoke, Va. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, at the Antioch Church of the Brethren in Rocky Mount, Va., by the Reverends Melvin and Lisa Fike.

BRYANT
Patricia Vint Bryant of Richmond died Wednesday, March 21, 2001. She is survived by her husband, George W. Bryant Jr.; two sons, Carter V. Bryant, and Randy Bryant and his wife, Tricia Bryant; and one grandson, Patrick Bryant. Mrs. Bryant was retired from the Richmond Times-Dispatch. She was the organizing president of the Virginia Press Women. Mrs. Bryant was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 24, in Hollywood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your favorite charity.

CRUMPLER
William Edward Crumpler, 69, of Lexington, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at his home. Mr. Crumpler was born on October 30, 1931, in Norfolk, was raised in Richmond, and was a son of the late Willard Lionel Crumpler and Margaret Elizabeth Coltran Crumpler. He was a graduate of John Marshall High School, Class of January 1949, and the Virginia military Institute, Class of June 1954, and was a member of the Brother Rat Class of '53. He served in the Army Infantry Division as a first lieutenant from 1954-56 and served in the Army Reserves until 1962. He was the safety director for the Whitehurst Transport Inc. in Richmond, retiring in 1997. Mr. Crumpler was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Richmond, a member of the Lexington Rockbridge Chamber of Commerce, the Lexington Downtown Development Association and was the co-owner of Colonial & Country Collections in Lexington. Mr. Crumpler is survived by his wife, Karen Engley Crumpler, Lexington; one son, William Scott Crumpler, Winchester; one daughter, Laura Lynn Heltzel, Richmond; two stepchildren, Deanna Marie Noell, Fairfield, Christopher Brandon Noell, Lexington; one brother, R. Wayne Crumpler, Richmond; four grandchildren and one stepgrandchild. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2001, at the Jackson Memorial Hall at VMI. The family will receive friends following the service in Moody Hall, VMI. There will be a private graveside service in Richmond on Monday. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Rockbridge Area Hospice, P.O. Box 948, Lexington, Va. 24450. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday night at the Harrison Funeral Home, Lexington.

DAVENPORT
Mrs. Elsie Lilly Davenport, 82, passed away on March 20, 2001. Mrs. Davenport is survived by two daughters, Jewell D. Cowan, Richmond, Va., Jamie D. Dye, Bristol, Va.; and a granddaughter, Dawn M. Cowan, Auburn, Ala. The family will receive friends Friday, March 23, 2001, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Farris Funeral Home in Abingdon, Va., where funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2001, at 2 p.m. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
