FERGUSON
William J. Ferguson Jr. died June 18, 2001 from complications related to Parkinson's Disease. Mr. Ferguson participated in the invasion of France as a combat infantryman during WWII. A graduate of the University of Richmond and a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Mr. Ferguson spent most of his working career at the Cardwell Machine Co. Preceded in death by his wife, Marcelle, he is survived by two sisters, Evelyn Snellings and Dorothy Toombs; a son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Judy Ferguson; two grandchildren, Kelli Ferguson Curbo and Ryan G. Ferguson; along with numerous other relatives and friends. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday followed by interment at Sunset Memorial Park. The family requests contributions to charities in lieu of flowers.

FORD
Mrs. Louise E. Ford, formerly of 1103 Mosby St., departed this life June 18, 2001. Arrangements by Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Ave. Notice of funeral later.

HAMER
George H. Hamer, age 66, of Henrico, died June 16, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Margaret J. Hamer; his children, Paul Hamer and his wife, Carrie, Andrew Hamer and his wife, Dana, and Jonathon Hamer; his brothers, Brian and Christopher; his sister, Pam; his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Nicholas, Alexandra, Samuel, Ashlee. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends Tuesday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and where funeral services will be held Wednesday, 2 p.m. Interment Signal Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Ct., P.O. Box 6359, Glen Allen, Va. 23058-6359.

HARRIS
Mrs. Jeanette Brown Harris departed this life June 15, 2001. She is survived by her devoted husband, Solomon F. Harris; devoted son, Howard A. Harris Jr. (Boo); daughter-i n-law, Katrina Harris; granddaugh ter, Keisha Harris; four nieces; devoted nephew and niece, William and Rosa Chasten; numerous devoted friends, eight stepsons, four stepdaught ers, five sisters-in -law, one brother-in -law. Her remains rest at the W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home. After 10 a.m. Wednesday, her remains will rest in Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Church, where funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Rev. John E. Johnson, pastor; Rev. Dr. R.L. Taylor, officiating. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

HENRY
Alma Eaton Henry, 86, of Warsaw, died on Sunday, June 17, 2001. Mrs. Henry was a retired seamstress for Kaufmans Department Store. Survivors are her husband, William Henry; a daughter, Joan Filkoski of Warsaw; four grandsons, William Filkoski, Stephen Filkoski, Lawrence Filkoski Jr. and Paul Filkoski; and nine great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Welch Funeral Home, Montross, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evening. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20 at Carter Memorial Seventh Day Adventist Church with interment in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carter Memorial Cemetery Fund, 121 Cartertown Rd., Warsaw, Va. 22572 or to the Montross Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1174, Montross, Va. 22520.

HITCH
Samuel George Leonard Hitch III, 83, a native of Norfolk, Va., passed away Sunday, June 17, 2001 in Richmond. Survived by his wife, Ann Gough Hitch; two daughters, Nancy H. Briggs and husband, Jay Briggs of Crozier, Va. and Betsy H. Dilley and husband, Larry Dilley of Tampa, Fla.; granddaughter, Kathryn Sothoron Tichacek of Richmond, Va.; one stepgranddaughter, Melissa Griffen of Satelite Beach, Fla.; four stepgrandsons, Christopher Dilley of Tampa, Fla., Levi Dilley of Richmond, Va., Aaron Dilley of Mrytle Beach, S.C. and Curtis Dilley of Las Vegas, Nevada. Mr. Hitch was a 1940 graduate of Virginia Tech and was an officer in the Navy for four years during World War II. He retired from Eastman Kodak Co. after 38 years of service as an engineer. A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 21 at 2 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Boys Scouts of America.

JOHNSON
Viola Ashe Johnson of Richmond entered eternal rest June 18, 2001. Professional service entrusted to the Dabneys Morticians. Funeral notice later.

JONES
Esther Jones, 51, of Richmond, died Sunday, June 17, 2001. She was the widow of Edwin A. Jones, and is survived by her son, Grant Jones; three grandchildren of Tampa, Fla.; five sisters, Ruth Kitchen, Clara Wilson, Donna and Patty Reibsome and Darlene Hurt, all of Richmond; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be private.

KRAMER
Mary Jansen Kramer passed away peacefully on June 17, 2001, after a brave struggle with cancer. Born in Crestline, Ohio in 1923 to George and Caroline Jansen, an exceptionally devoted and caring mother and wife, she will live on in the hearts of her children, Bert Jr., Caroline, John, Thomas and Charles; her grandchildren, Matthew, Robert, Lisa, Kevin, Jason, Meredith, Cameron and Amelia; and her husband of nearly 50 years, Judge Berton Kramer. She joins her son, Chris, who passed away in 1998. Mary Kramer also leaves the legacy of a brilliant career as a research physicist. She made many contributions to the fields of solar cell efficiency, strength testing of Plexiglas, and others. Anyone who knew this remarkable woman will remember her undaunting determination and untiring efforts to make this world a better place, most recently her efforts to preserve the Swift Creek Reservoir, which she loved. Mary, we love you enormously. Interment will be private. Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.

LEWIS
Departed this life June 18, 2001, Mrs. Yvonne H. Lewis of 3113 Hanes Ave. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave. Funeral notice later.

LUTER
Frances Ware Luter, age 95, of Richmond, widow of David F. Luter, died Monday, June 18, 2001. She is preceded in death by her son, David Ware Luter. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Remains rest Laburnum Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 2110 E. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday. Interment 3 p.m. Thursday at the Amherst Cemetery, Amherst, Va. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Highland Park United Methodist Church.

MALLORY
William Howard Mallory, 58, died Sunday, June 17, 2001. He was an investigator for American International Group since 1994. Mr. Mallory is survived by his wife, Rosemary Mallory; four children, William L. Mallory, Thomas M. Mallory, Margaret E. Mallory, Kevin P. Mallory; stepmother, Veronica Mallory; three sisters, and four brothers. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2001 at 12 noon in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Prince George. A Christian Wake will be held Tuesday, 7 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Virginia, 5540 Falmouth St., Richmond, Va. 23230.

Franklin D. Puckett Jr., 47, of Prince George, Va., formerly of Wasilla, Alaska, went to be with his heavenly father, Friday, June 15, 2001. He is survived by his parents, Franklin D. Sr. and Virginia Puckett of Disputana; two sisters, Margaret (Charlee) Puckett of Gum Springs and Carolyn Kearns of Chester; his earthly brother, Henry Canton of Hampton; brother-in-law, Thomas R. Kearns; nephews, Thomas C. Kearns, Daniel C. Grassley, Ronnie E. Shafer; niece, Christine A. Kearns; great-nieces, Courtney A. Kearns, Kayla Nichole Shafer. Our loving brother, (Bubbie) was a special, unique individual, a world traveler and loved by many family and friends. Nicknamed "Tattoo", he was a one of a kind artist. RICKETTS
Mrs. Sylvia Goldberg Ricketts, 71, of 2505 Shady Lawn Drive, died Monday, June 18, 2001, at Moses Cone Hospital. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at Temple Emanuel with Rabbi Fred Guttman officiating. Burial will follow in the Hebrew Cemtery. A native of Asheville, N.C., she was founder and coordinator of the Friendship Circle Senior Adult Group at Temple Emanuel until 1995. She was well known for her lifelong involvement in social work. She was a wonderful and supportive wife and mother and was a very dedicated servant to the community. She was a member of Temple Emanuel. She is survived by her son, David Ricketts of Stokesdale, N.C.; twin daughters, Judy Baker of Gibsonville and Joan Johnson of Hendersonville, N.C.; brother, Herbert Goldberg of Charleston, S.C.; six grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to the Friendship Circle, c/o Temple Emanuel, 713 N. Greene St., Greensboro, N.C. 27401. Hanes-Lineberry North Elm Chapel is serving the family of Mrs. Ricketts.

ROETHE
Dorothy Martin Roethe, 73, of Richmond, died Friday, June 15, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Harry E. Roethe Jr.; two daughters, Elaine R. Covington of Yorktown, and Jeanne R. Parrish of Mandeville, La.; son, Stephen M. Roethe of Richmond; and five grandchildren, Kenneth and Karen Covington, Andrew, Kevin and Sarah Parrish. Mrs. Roethe was the daughter of the late Willard C. and Margaret L. Martin and sister of the late Millicent M. Patterson. She was a graduate of Indiana State University where she served as President of Chi Omega in her senior year and remained active in alumni affairs. Mrs. Roethe was the Assistant Director of Alumni Relations at Indiana State University for three years. She was the Director of Publications for Associated General Contractors of Virginia in Richmond for 11 years. Mrs. Roethe had been an active member of Bon Air Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder and later joined St. Giles Presbyterian Church. She had a life long interest in church music and drama. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. A memorial service will be held 12 noon, Wednesday, June 20 at St. Giles Presbyterian Church following private Entombment at Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association - Greater Richmond Chapter, 4600 Cox Rd., Suite 130, Glen Allen, Va. 23060 or St. Giles Presbyterian Church, Music Department, 5200 Grove Ave., Richmond, Va. 23226.

RYAN
Departed this life June 15, 2001, Frank F. Ryan Sr. of 474 Westover Hills Blvd. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel T. Ryan. He is survived by one son, Frank F. Ryan Jr.; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; one sister, Lela Bowe; one brother, Rev. James R. Ryan; several nieces, nephews and cousins; one daughter-in-law, Doris Ryan; three sisters-in-law and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave., where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday. Rev. Lawrence Samuel officiating. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends assemble at the funeral home 10:45 a.m. Wednesday.
