Mrs. Jessie S. Moody, formerly of 913 N. 35th St., departed this life Saturday, May 26, 2001. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Streets. Funeral notice later.

NEBLETT
Elizabeth Hester Deel Neblett, 90, of Richmond, widow of Sterling Neblett Sr., departed this life May 24, 2001, at Chippenham Hospital. Mrs. Neblett was born September 21, 1910, in Clintwood, Va. She is survived by one daughter, Sallie Baskerville Neblett; one son, Sterling Neblett Jr.; one sister, Lessie Deel Garber Sutherland; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a 56-year member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, serving on the Altar Guild, a longtime member of the Forest Hill Garden Club, and a volunteer at Chippenham Hospital for 17 years. Mrs. Neblett was a wonderful and gracious lady, beloved by everyone who knew her. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, May 28, 2001, at Maury Cemetery. Gather at the chapel Monday, May 28, at 12 noon to proceed to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd Altar Guild, 43rd and Forest Hill Avenue, Richmond, Va. 23225.

QUILLIAN
Mrs. Flo Hill Quillian, 78, died Friday, May 25, 2001. Mrs. Quillian was a resident of Rock Hill. Surviving are her son, Asbury W. Quillian IV of Richmond, Va.; daughters, Lee Q. Miller and Kathryn "Kay" Cooper of Rock Hill, S.C. and Ann Q. Davis of Greenwood, S.C.; her brother, Col. Edward Y. Hill of Rock Hill; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, May 28, 2001 at Cauthen Funeral Home, Rock Hill Chapel. A graveside service will be held at Jarnagin Cemetery in Morristown, Tenn. at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2001. Memorials may be made to Hospice of York County, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, S.C. 29732.

Ms. Doris L. Redwine of Richmond, Va. departed this life May 23, 2001. Her remains will rest at the Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd., Richmond, Sunday, May 27 (today) after 3 p.m. The Robert Mealy Funeral Home, Goochland in charge of arrangements.

RUSSELL
Valeria A. Russell of 5600 Charlevoix Court, formerly of Washington Park, departed this life on May 24, 2001. She was preceded in death by her son, Wesley Junius Russell Jr. She leaves to celebrate her daughters, Kathryn Amanda Brown and Freda Denora Russell Merriman; son, Wayne Muhammad; five grandchildren, Jermaine, Jalil Shabazz, Atiyya, Taqiyyah and Na'ilah Anisah Muhammad; three brothers, John, Henry and William Smith; one daughter-in-law, Sabrina Muhammad; one son-in-law, Ronnie Merriman; one aunt, Martha Smith; two uncles, Aaron and Edmond Smith; three sisters-in-law, host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd., where the family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m. After 12 noon Tuesday remains will rest in St. John Baptist Church, 4317 North Avenue, and where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Rev. Dr. Michael L. Felton officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Guest book at www.legacy.com.

SMITH-MOTT
Valerie Smith-Mott, 49, of Richmond, entered into eternal rest suddenly on Wednesday, May 23, 2001. She was the loving daughter of Sylvester and Rosetta Smith of Philadelphia, Pa. Also cherishing her memory are five children, Shawn Madison of Great Lakes, Ill., Raquel and Jamarr Smith of Philadelphia, Coppie and Ashley Mott of Richmond; a sister, Trinia Smith-Fields of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Carlton and Rodney Smith of Philadelphia; 11 grandchildren, five nieces, two nephews, a host of cousins; a brother-in-law, Robert Fields; a son-in-law, Donald Madison; two devoted friends, Judy Turner and Camilla Curry; and a host of aunts and uncles. Services will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 815 E. Grace St., on Wednesday, May 30, 2001 at 11 a.m., the Rev. Robert G. Hetherington officiating. The family requests in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Coppie and Ashley Mott. The family will receive friends 2 to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave.

WELLFORD
Daniel Hendrickson Wellford died on May 25, 2001, with his family by his side at his home in Oxford, Md., after a long illness. He was born in Woodbury, N.J., on April 5, 1926, but was raised in Wilmington, Del. He served in the US Army for three years during World War II, after graduating from the Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Va. Following the War, he received his B.S. degree in chemistry from the University of Virginia, where he was a member of the St. Anthony Club. He briefly worked for the DuPont Company as a chemist before being hired by Pan American World Airways. After 30 years of service, he retired as a 747 captain. An avid sailor and outdoorsman, he cruised extensively with his wife, the former Sandra Shettle, whom he married in 1976, and their dogs. He was a member of the Tred Avon Yacht Club, the Chesapeake Bay Yacht Club and the Cruising Club of America. As well as his wife Sandy, he is survived by his children, Renee, Caroline, Daniel Jr. and Polly; a stepson, George; eight grandchildren, a great-granddaughter; his brother, Beverly; and sister, Virginia. A service of Christian burial will be held at Christ Episcopal Church in St. Michaels, Md., on Tuesday, May 29, at 11 a.m. Interment will be at the Oxford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Talbot Special Riders, P.O. Box 391, Easton, Md. 21601.

WINN
Pauline P. Winn, 73, died May 24, 2001, at St. Mary's Hospital. She is survived by her sons, John, 51, Dann, 48, and Keith, 39; her father, John P. Pajchak; her sisters, Phyllis P. Johnson and Helen P. Jones; and her grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

WOOTEN
Departed this life May 25, 2001, Mr. Willie Mack Wooten Jr. of 1401 Middleberry Dr. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St. Funeral notice later.

ASHCRAFT
Louise Bell Ashcraft, 57, of Richmond, Va., died on December 1, 2001 at home in her sleep. Louise was born on July 24, 1944 in Wheeling, W.Va. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arvel V. Stiles and Olive Stiles; and is survived by her two sons, Ty Ashcraft and his wife, Kayite and John P. Ashcraft and his wife, Jennifer and their six-month-old son, J.P. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Decemer 15 at Lee Street Baptist Church. Louise was deeply loved and admired by her family and friends. Love and positive energy trailed her every footstep.

BELCHER
Nellie Josephine Belcher of Richmond, born July 4, 1924, died December 13, 2001. Her survivors include her sister, Ruth Masters; brothers, Burnett, Joseph and Gordon Belcher; also several nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by the family of her dear friend, the late Bette Watlington; and a host of friends at First Baptist Church in Richmond, the Baptist Foreign Mission Board and University Park. Remains rest at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., where the family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of First Baptist Church. Interment will be in Greenville, S.C.

BUTLER
Joseph Janson Butler III, 58, of Richmond, died December 11, 2001. Survivors include his sister, Sandra Butler Apperson; niece, Maria M. Warren; great-niece, Michelle Warren; and great-nephew, Donald L. Warren Jr. Interment will be held 12:30 p.m. Friday at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, Va. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Liver Foundation.

CALLIS
Departed this life December 11, 2001, Mrs. Rebecca Woods Callis of 514 E. Brookland Park Blvd. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie C. Callis. She is survived by four sisters, Mattie Carter, Eva Shipman, Arlene Rogers and Margaret Scott; one brother, John Woods Jr.; two aunts, Eliza Addison and Pearl Porter; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; two sisters-in-law, Rosie Lee Woods and Evangelist Margaret Darden; two brothers-in-law, Charlie Rogers and Rubin Shipman; and other relatives and friends, among them devoted, Mrs. Earnest J. Hudson. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave. Funeral Saturday 1 p.m. at Triumphant Baptist Church, 2003 Lamb Ave., where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time. Dr. Arthur Jones, pastor, officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Family, friends and organization assemble at the church 12:45 p.m. Saturday.

CARLSON
Hilton Weymouth Carlson Sr., age 84, of Kilmarnock, Va., died Thursday, December 13, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Marcella Flint Carlson; a daughter, Janet C. Worsham, Kilmarnock, Va.; two sons, Hilton W. Carlson Jr., Matthews, Va. and David L Carlson, Richmond, Va; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mitchell T. Carlson Sr. and Charles N. Carlson, both of Kilmarnock, Va. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jean C. Carlson. Remains rest at the Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock, Va., where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and where funeral services wil be held 2 p.m. Sunday. Interment with Masonic Rites at Roseland Cemetery, Reedville, Va. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lancaster Union Masonic Lodge No. 88, AF&AM Elevator Fund, P.O. Box 363, Kilmarnock, Va. 22482.

COLEMAN
Neil Talmadge Coleman, 66, of Chester, died December 11, 2001 in Chippenham Medical Center. Mr. Coleman was born in Richmond and was retired from the Department of Tax Enforcement, City of Richmond. Preceded in death by his father, Spurgeon T. "Skinny" Coleman, he is survived by his wife, Shirley R. Coleman; and his mother, Lola S. Coleman. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 16 in the Chesterfield Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Rd. Rev. Robert L. Rowland III, pastor of Symrna Baptist Church, and Rev. Kelley J. Hepler, pastor of Hebron Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m.

DUCK
Irene Holland Duck, 82, of Franklin, died Thursday, December 13, 2001 She was the widow of William Crawley Duck, to whom she was married for 47 years, and, along with her husband, was co-owner of Duck's Seafood and Norge Laundry Village. She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church for 54 years. Survivors include a daughter, Linda D. Edwards and her husband, Richard of Sedley; two grandchildren, Richard C. Edwards Jr. and his wife, Pamela of Richmond, and Rinda LaNette Edwards of Alexandria, Va.; three great-grandchildren, Samantha Ann, Mitchell William and David Rowen Edwards, all of Richmond; three sisters and a brother. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home and other times at the residence at 302 Bogart St., and suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Franklin Baptist Church Gardens and Grounds Fund, 208 N. High St., Franklin, Va. 23851.

Eva Isadore Gaddis of Ruther Glen, Va. departed this life December 9, 2001. She is survived by three sisters, Sarah James, Fannie Mines and Geneva Stevens; one brother, Harvey Fells; one sister-in-law, Minnie Fells; two aunts, Estelle Smithers and Margaret Lewis; 14 nieces, 11 nephews, a host of other relatives and friends. Her remains rest at the Henry W. Dabney Funeral Home, 518 N. Washington Hwy., Ashland. Funeral service 1 p.m. Saturday at Second Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Dawn, Va., Rev. Marvin Fields officiating.
