KELLY
John Mason "Catfish" Kelly, 62, of Richmond, passed away May 3, 2001, in Myrtle Beach, S.C. He is survived by his mother, Pauline Kelly Simpson; a brother, Linwood E. Kelly; a sister, Avis K. Vaught of Surry, Va.; nephew, John E. Kelly; two nieces, Heather M. Kelly and Kristina R. Bishop. Also survived by Robert L. Waldrop. Retired from Philip Morris after 25 years of service. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Southside Baptist Church, 6000 Iron Bridge Rd., Richmond, Va. 23234.

KUESTER
August "Gus" Kuester of Chesterfield passed away May 3, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Helen J. Kuester; his children, William "Bill" Kuester and his wife, Jean, Joan E. Blanton and her husband, Andy, Susan Hutton and her husband, Tom; a brother, Alvin Kuester of Bremerhaven, Germany; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War. A memorial service will be held 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd.

LANIGAN
L. Mae Lanigan of Richmond died Friday, May 4, 2001. She is survived by one niece, Nancy Worth Lawrence Peters; five nephews, Gordon Boyer Lawrence, Dale Everett Lawrence, Harold Seth Hoover Jr., Wayne Hoover and Brent Lanigan; and several great-nieces and nephews. Miss Lanigan retired from Virginia Power as assistant to the safety director after 47 years of service. She was a communicant of Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, May 7, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Interment in Maury Cemetery.

MATHEWS
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Alvis Mathews, 82, of Laurinburg, N.C., died Thursday in Scotland Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be held on Sunday at 6 p.m. in First Baptist Church with Reverends Larry Coleman and Kyle Batson officiating. Burial will take place in Arlington National Cemetery on Wednesday. Born December 16, 1918, in Richmond, Va., she was the daughter of the late Frank Riles and Geraldine Griffin Alvis. Her husband, Lt. Col. Dr. Sidney T. Mathews III, preceded her in death in 1994. A member of the First Baptist Church where she was active in the Ladies Circle, Mary also had memberships with the Laurinburg Lioness Club, St. Andrews Book Club and the Do Nothing Club. A graduate of Coker College in Hartsville, S.C., she taught high school English and typing in Asheville, N.C. Also while in Asheville, she taught with Jobs for the Handicapped. She retired as an executive secretary in 1983 with the Four County Community Service. Survivors include a daughter, Carol M. Shelley and husband, Bill of McColl, S.C.; three sons, Sidney T. Mathews IV of Laurinburg, Alan Christopher Mathews and wife, Mary Anne of Asheville, and Robert Ashby Mathews of Homestead, Fla.; two sister-in-laws, Elizabeth "Libby" Alvis of Fairfax, Va., and Mrs. Emmett C. Mathews of Richmond, Va. Five grandchildren also survive her: Marc, Erin, Jenny, Robby and Ryan Mathews. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the home, 615 S. Main Street. MURRAY
Mr. Rufus Milton Murray, age 91, died Thursday, May 3, 2001. Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Eleanor P. Murray; two sons, James Milton Murray of Tampa, Fla., and Charles Edward Murray of Mechanicsville; one brother, Howard Murray of South Carolina; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2001, at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad St., Glen Allen. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 7, 2001, at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Richmond. NEESON
James "Jimmy" Neeson, age 64, of Henrico, died May 3, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Nancy C. Neeson; his children, James A. Neeson, Carol Lynn Gideon, Richard Neeson, Christy Marie Slagle and Dana Neeson; his stepmother, Judy Neeson; his sister, Judy Ann Rothmiller; his brother, Greg Neeson; 19 grandchildren, one great-grandchild. Mr. Neeson was a member of the Fleet Reserves and the Moose Lodge. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends Saturday 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday 2 to 4 p.m., and where services will be held 11 a.m. Monday. Interment Signal Hill Memorial Park.

NORRIS
Yolande Pope Norris, 75, of Sandston, died Thursday, May 3, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, James S. Norris. She is survived by her son, John "Bo" Bobenia; her daughter, Dotty A. and husband, Herman S. Oliver; two stepsons, Marty and wife, Dee Norris, Mike and wife, Chris Norris; one brother, Don R. Pope of Highland Springs; three grandchildren, Adam S. and Angela R. Oliver, and Carson Shuchang Watlington; three stepgrandchildren and one stepgreat-grandchild, and many other friends, family members and care givers. Remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and where services will be held 3 p.m. Monday. Interment Washington Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Broaddus Baptist Church where Mrs. Norris was a member.

QUEEN
Edna Price Queen, 66, formerly of Richmond, died at the home of her daughter in Chester, May 3, 2001. She is survived by a son, Billy Edgar Queen Sr. of Richmond; and a daughter, Wanda C. Queen Pate of Chester; and three grandsons. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 7, in the Chesterfield Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Rd. The interment will follow in Dale Memorial Park.

RADCLIFFE
Grover Miles "Tiny" Radcliffe Jr., 78, of Dinwiddie, died Thursday, May 3, 2001. He was the son of the late Grover Miles Sr. and Thelma Guida Bennett Radcliffe and stepson of the late Annie Radcliffe. He was an elder of the Edgehill Church of Christ and retired as a heavy equipment operator and supervisor for the Virginia Operating Engineers Local 147 after 53 years of service. Mr. Radcliffe is survived by his wife, Virginia Butler Radcliffe; children, Grover Miles Radcliffe III and wife, Josie of Chesapeake, Joseph Linwood Radcliffe and wife, Marlene of Chesapeake, Colleen Radcliffe Wray of Hopewell, James Robert Radcliffe and wife, Jeri Lynn of Dinwiddie, Tammy Snow Fry and husband, Michael of Petersburg, Douglas Edward Radcliffe and wife, Linda of Dinwiddie; grandchildren, Drew, Brett, Becki, Shannon, Ashly, Matthew, Teri, Sammy, Mike, Miles; one great-grandson. Brothers and sisters also survive him, Mary Emma Goodwin of Colonial Heights, Joseph F. Radcliffe of Texas, Virginia M. Auders of Dinwiddie, Betty J. Finney of Chesapeake, Donald A. Radcliffe of Colonial Heights, John J. Radcliffe of Chesterfield and James P. Radcliffe of Colonial Heights. Mr. Radcliffe was predeceased by his son, Charlie Brown Radcliffe; and a brother and sisters, Edwin D. Radcliffe, Evelyn "Boo" Radcliffe and Nancy R. Rowland. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 7, 2001, at 1 p.m. at the Edgehill Church of Christ, 25609 Grant Avenue, Petersburg. Mr. Jimmy Moores will officiate, assisted by Mr. Bill Voss and Mr. Eddie Hendrix. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights. Flowers are welcome, or contributions can be made to Crater Community Hospice, 840 West Roslyn Rd., Colonial Heights, Va. 23834.

ROBINSON
Eric Xavier Robinson, 11, of Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord May 2, 2001. He is survived by his mother, Sandra Robinson; his fostermother, Wanda Moore; maternal grandmother, Louise K. Bracy; a host of relatives and friends. Eric was a fourth grader at Chalkley Elementary School. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.

SCHOOLS
Mrs. Grace Moore Schools, 87, of Shumansville, died Thursday, May 3, 2001, at Health South in Richmond. She is survived by two sons, James T. Schools of Shumansville and Frederick L. Schools of Bowling Green; a daughter, Phyllis Cecil of Hanover; a sister, Ila Powell of King William; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2001, in the chapel of Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green. Burial will follow in Mt. Hermon Baptist Church Cemetery, Shumansville. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, 22028 Mattaponi Trail, Milford, Va. 22514.

SCOTT
Sallie Hensley Scott, 80, of Chesterfield, passed away Friday, May 4, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, M. Ellis Scott; and by her daughter, Carol Craig Murdock. She is survived by three children, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three brothers, and numerous extended family members. She will be loved and deeply missed. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday. Interment Maury Cemetery.

SHOVLIN
Mary V. Leonetti Shovlin of Richmond died May 3, 2001. She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Walter B. Shovlin; her brother-in-law, Neil Shovlin; sisters-in-law, Helene Shovlin, Mary F. Leonetti and Rosa Leonetti; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Mary was a retired registered nurse. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, with a Christian Wake service at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Edward's Catholic Church, 2700 Dolfield Rd. Entombment Greenwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Desales Seminary Associates, P.O. Box 132, Childs, Md. 21916; or the charity of your choice.

STYRON-LaGASSE
Marisa D. "Resa" Styron-LaGasse, 37, of Mechanicsville, formerly of New Jersey, a registered nurse at M.C.V., died Wednesday, May 2, 2001. Beloved wife of Theodore LaGasse and mother of two sons, Matthew Styron and Tyler LaGasse. She is also survived by her mother, Vivian Styron; brother, Philip Styron; two uncles, Frank Teodori and Philip Teodori; three nieces, Sarah, Deanna and Alecia; and many cousins. She received associate degrees in business management and accounting from the Suffolk Community College in Seldon, N.Y., an associate of applied science degree in nursing and a bachelor of science in general business from the University State of New York in Albany, N.Y., and was presently attending V.C.U. for her post-bachelor certification in the information technology and public administration graduate program. She was a member of the Church of the Redeemer Catholic Church in Mechanicsville. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Church of the Redeemer, with a Christian Wake service beginning at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held 10 a.m. Monday at the church. The Mechanicsville Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee Davis Road, is handling the arrangements.

TEATOR
Mrs. Elaine B. Teator, 63 of Aylett, Va., died on Wednesday, May 2, 2001. She was the daughter of Hollis and Regina Bonsey of Portsmouth, N.H. She is survived by her husband, Frederick E. Teator of Aylett, Va.; a son, Thomas T. Teator of Tulsa, Okla.; three daughters, Holly J. Teator Galaris of Doha, Qatar, Gina C. DeJoy of Bluehill, Maine and Tracy L. Giza of Las Vegas, Nevada; seven grandchildren, and numerous relatives. Mrs, Teator was a longtime summer resident of Maine. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Miller's Tavern, where a memorial service will be held for family and friends at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2001. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Paul's Memorial Garden Fund, Miller's Tavern, Va.

TOMLINSON
Virginia W. Tomlinson of Richmond died Friday, May 4, 2001. She was preceded in death by a son, Keith W. Tomlinson. She is survived by a son, Stuart E. Tomlinson; and a daughter, June T. Chandler; a brother, James P. Winn; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Virginia or the American Cancer Society.

Howard A. Toone of La Crosse died May 4, 2001. Survived by three sisters, Mildred Hale and Lucille Clary, both of La Crosse, and Pauline Conner of Boydton.
