REDFORD
P. Burch Redford, 57, of Richmond, died Thursday, February 28, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Barbara E. Redford; a son, Ellis J. Redford; and his mother-in-law, Mary C. Ellis. Mr. Redford was a member of Grace Baptist Church and a retired School Teacher with the Chesterfield Public Schools with 30 years of service, having coached football, soccer and golf. His family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Road, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. Interment Private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

SAUNDERS
Mr. Ray Charles Saunders, 44, of 6903 Welch Drive, Chesterfield, Virginia, died Wednesday, February 27, 2002 at his residence. Born November 26, 1957 in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Katherine Y. Saunders and the late Robert D. Saunders. He was employed by the City of Richmond. He was a member of First Baptist Church, South Richmond, where he served on the Usher Board and was a member of the single's ministry. In addition to his mother, Mrs. Katherine Saunders, Chatham, Va., he is survived by four brothers, James Saunders and wife, Barbara, and Willie T. Saunders, all of Adelphia, Md., Ronnie Saunders and wife, Cynthia, Suffolk, Va., Clarence White, Chatham, Va.; four sisters, Velma Robertson and Ernestine Pritchett and husband, Lester, all of Chatham, Va., Dorothy Wright and husband Joseph, Tappahannock, Va., Lue Pickens and husband, Jimmy, Ft. Washington, Md.; a dear friend, Janet Cosby, Richmond, Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral service for Mr. Saunders will be conducted Monday, March 4, 2002 at 1 p.m. from Greater Triumph Missionary Baptist Church by Rev. Derik Jones. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday from the chapel of Howerton Funeral Home. The family is at the residence of his mother, Mrs. Katherine Saunders, 150 Mill Creek Road, Chatham, Virginia. Howerton Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

SCHNEIDER
Robert V. Schneider, 76, passed away February 16, 2002 in Zephyrhills, Fla. Mr. Schneider was formerly of Glen Allen, Va. He is survived by his wife, Frances of Zephyrhills, Fla.; son, Ronald Schneider of Midlothian, Va.; daughter, Sandra Gittings and son-in-law, Carl of Glen Allen Va.; a brother, Earl Jones of Zephyrhills, Fla.; and three grandchildren. Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2002 at Westhampton Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, Richmond, Va. with Pastor Hugh G. Whitley officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes. Fund, or to the Trinity United Methodist Building Fund, 33425 SR 54, Wesley Chapel, Fla. 33543. Whitfield Funeral Home, Zephyrhills, Fla. is serving the family.

SHEALY
David S. Shealy Sr., age 93, of Richmond, died Wednesday, February 27, 2002. He was preceded in death by his wife, Estelle V. Shealy; and is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, David Jr. and Judith Shealy of Yorktown; four grandchildren, David Keith Shealy of Newport News, William Benson Shealy of Tallahassee, Fla., Bradley Wayne Shealy, USAF, of Vandenberg AFB, Calif. and Kristin Shealy of Yorktown; three great-grandsons, Christopher, Matthew and Justin Shealy; three brothers, Doyle E. Shealy of Richmond, Carey C. Shealy of Florence, S.C. and Leon Shealy of Little Mountain, S.C.; and three sisters, Florence Wheeler and Christine Metts of Columbia, S.C. and Louise Bedenbaugh of Prosperity, S.C. Mr. Shealy was a member of First English Lutheran Church and a Navy veteran of World War II. The family will receive friends 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Laburnum Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 2110 East Laburnum Avenue. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at First English Lutheran Church, 1603 Monument Avenue. Interment with Naval honors at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the First English Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.

SHURLING
Raymond T. Shurling of Tanglewood Shores, Bracey, died Friday, March 1, 2002. Survived by his wife, Thelma A. Shurling; a son, Earl Byrd of Durham, N.C.; four grandchildren, three nieces, and one nephew. Memorial services Tuesday, 10 a.m. in Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home. Inurnment 3:30 p.m. in Greenleaf Memorial Cemetery in New Bern, N.C. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Prospect United Methodist Church Parsonage Fund, or to the skilled care unit of Community Memorial Healthcenter. SMITH
Mrs. Rachel T. Smith (Ma Rachel), wife of the late Charlie Smith, departed this life on Friday, March 1, 2002. Survived by her children, Edward Smith, Joyce S. Hubbard, Howard Smith and wife, Deborah, Jacqueline, barbara and Patricia Smith; four sisters, Louise Pleasants, Verna Carter, Jane Lee and Nannie Carter; two brothers, Joe and James Thompson; numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, among them very devoted Gerard D. Smith, L. Nicole Hubbard and Treasure A. Childs; three sisters-in-law, Lottie and Jetty Thompson, and Delois Smith; several nieces and nephews, cousins, and a very devoted church family. Mrs. Smith was a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church. Her remains will rest at K.L. Jordan Funeral Services, Monday, March 4, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. One hour prior to funeral services, her remains will lie in state at Rock Hill Baptist Church, 4271 Rock Hill Rd., where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, eulogy by the Rev. Rufus Steel Jr. of Richmond departed this life Saturday, March 2, 2002. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Sts. Funeral notice later.

SUTTON
Mrs. Annie Virginia Sutton born January 19, 1929, in Amelia County, departed this life Thursday, February 28, 2002. Preceded in death by her husband, Earl E. Sutton Sr. in 1968, and son, Robert R. Sutton in 1989, she leaves to cherish her memories her son, Earl E. Sutton Jr.; and two daughters, Sheila G. Bradby and husband, Roland, Deacon Janice M. Sutton; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Sutton attended Flower Hill Baptist Church in Amelia Co. as a child and graduated from Virginia Randolph School in Glen Allen. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at St. Paul's Baptist Church, 2600 E. Marshall St., eulogy by Dr. Paige Chargois, associate pastor of St. Paul's Baptist Church. Departed this life February 27, 2002, Mrs. Dorothy G. (Dot) Tennyson of 8105 Providence Forest Ct., Chesterfield, formerly of 3331 Dill Ave. She is survived by one son, Keith Taylor; one daughter, Deborah T. Garner; two grandchildren, Brandon Garner and Ashley Taylor; two brothers, Edwin F. and Frizzell Macon Jr.; two nieces, Kendra King and Lisa Macon; three uncles, Edmond, George and Ernest Cosby Sr.; one sister-in-law, Lorraine Macon; other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St., where the family will receive friends Sunday, 5 to 6 p.m. Remains will lie in state Monday, 12 noon at St. Paul's Baptist Church, 2600 E. THOMPSON
Jane Gertrude Johns Thompson, 98, widow of Herbert (Happy) Thompson, died Friday, March 1, 2002. She was preceded in death by a son, David Scott Thompson; and her three brothers. She is survived by one son, A.W. Thompson and his wife, Betty; daughter-in-law, Helen W. Thompson; sister-in-law, Florence Johns; nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew. Gertrude was a member of Central Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Monday, March 4, from 2 to 4 and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2002. TRIBLE
Katherine S. Trible, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, died in Newport News after a brief illness on March 1, 2002. Mrs. Trible was born in Baltimore, Maryland on August 25, 1907 and lived a long and wonderful life of 94 years. She graduated from The Friends School and the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. In 1942 she married Paul S. Trible Sr. and they lived happily together for 57 years. Katherine Trible is the beloved mother of Paul S. Trible Jr., mother-in-law of Rosemary D. Trible and grandmother of Mary Katherine Trible and Paul S. Trible III. The Trible family will receive friends at their home, Gascony, in Northumberland County on Sunday, March 3, from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Grace Episcopal Church in Kilmarnock at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 4, with interment in the church cemetery. Following the service, the family will receive friends at Gascony. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Paul and Katherine Trible Scholarship at Christopher Newport University.

TYLER
Departed this life February 27, 2002, Mrs. Rosa Lee Tyler of 3408 Maplewood Ave. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Tyler. She is survived by one son, James D. Pridgeon; one granddaughter, Terrie Taylor; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Wilson and Etta Webb; three brothers, Robert, Theodore and Paul Sewell; host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; two sisters-in-law; and other relatives and friends, among them, Geraldine R. Smith; and other special friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave. Funeral Monday, 1 p.m., at Fifth Baptist Church, 1415 W. Cary St., where remains will lie in state one hour prior funeral time, Dr. Earl Brown (pastor), Rev. Asbury Harrison (eulogy). Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Family and friends assemble at the church, 12:45 p.m. Monday.

VAUGHAN
Pamela Dale Vaughan, 52, of Chesterfield, died February 28, 2002. Survivors include her husband, Keith Vaughan; her children, Shelbie Therrien Gaspar and her husband, John of Virginia Beach, Va., Pamie Therrien Grantham of Dunedin, Fla.; her parents, Bill and Annie Mayo; a sister, Judy Johnson; grandchildren, Brittany and Drew Grantham and Afton Gaspar; two devoted friends, Dot James and Martha Sykes. A special thanks to the wonderful staff at Westport Convalescent Center. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday. Interment Dale Memorial Park.

WALTMAN
Helen Poore Waltman, 78, of Louisa, died March 2, 2002. She was a retired newspaper reporter with the Central Virginian, with over 30 years of service, and a member of Louisa Baptist Church. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, William (Billy) and Daphne Crank; and sisters, Betty Ann Hopkins of Glen Allen, and Dorothy Waltman of Louisa; and a sister-in-law, Billie Poore, wife of Mrs. Waltman's brother, James Edward Poore, deceased. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Russell Cammack Crank Jr.; her son, Russell (Mack) Cammack Crank III; and her second husband, Burton Thalyer Waltman. The family will receive friends Sunday (today) from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Woodward Funeral Home, Louisa, Va., where services will be held Monday, 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Louisa County Rescue Squad.

YOWELL
Martha Kauffman Yowell of Plano, Texas, formerly of Madison, Va., passed away on February 28, 2002. She was 88. Born Martha Frances Kauffman on November 6, 1913 to John Clark and Blanche Gochenour Kauffman of Rileyville. Mrs. Yowell grew up in Page County and attended Averette College in Danville. She was married in 1935 to Russell W. Yowell of Madison. She made her home with her son, Dick and his wife, Helen and their family after Judge Yowell's death in 1981. Two sons, Richard K. Yowell of Plano, Texas, and David M. Yowell of Crozet; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren survive Mrs. Yowell. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2002 at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Haywood, Va., with Rev. Wagner officiating. Arrangements are by Clore-English Funeral Home, 11190 James Monroe Hwy., Culpeper, Va. 22701. (540)825-2361.

Arthur Lee Baylor, of Caroline Co., entered eternal rest on September 14, 2002. He leaves to mourn a loving wife of 62 years, Creola Baylor; six children, Marian Goodall, Carol Morris, James Baylor Sr., Cloria Carter, Kenny Baylor Sr., and Frances Jones; four sisters, Florence Stevens, Isabel Freeman, Mary Anderson and Adell Pleasants; one brother, Edmond Baylor. His remains rest at the Henry W. Dabney Funeral Home, 518 N. Washington Hwy., Ashland. Funeral service 2 p.m. Wednesday at Second Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Dawn, Va. Rev. Marvin Fields officiating. BELCHER
Anna P. Belcher died at her home August 2, 2002 at the age of 84. She is survived by her three daughters, Janet Bayes, Brenda Pijan and Sherri Hatton; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren. A graveside memorial will be held September 18 at 11 a.m. at Dale Memorial Park.

BELLOWS
Elizabeth Willard Bellows, age 81, of Kilmarnock, Va., died Sunday, September 15, 2002. She is survived by her sister, Mary Bellows Phillips, Chester, Va.; a sister-in-law, Shirley C. Bellows, Kilmarnock, Va.; and a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, September 21, 2002 in White Stone United Methodist Church, White Stone, Va. Interment in the church cemetery.
