BLOT
Violet Rose Blot, age 87, of Richmond, died September 15, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Blot. She is survived by her sons, Edward Blot, Thomas Blot and Kenneth Blot; her daughters, Bernice Tennyson and Catherine Jordan; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Blot was retired from St. Mary's Hospital. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends Wednesday 6 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 5 p.m., and where a funeral service will be held Thursday 11 a.m. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery. If desired, contributions may be made to St. Mary's Hospital Coronary Care Unit, 5801 Bremo Rd., Richmond, Va. 23226.

BROOKS
William A. Brooks Sr. of 2117 Miller Ave. died September 15, 2002. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd. Funeral notice later.

BURKS
Howard R. Burks, 88, of Randolph, died September 15, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Eleanor T. Burks; a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby J. "B.J." and Mildred T. "Millie" Burks of Randolph, formerly of Mechanicsville; a brother, Morton J. Burks of Clarksville; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Curtis L. Burks. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Newcomb Allgood Davis Funeral Home, Chase City. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Public Fork Christian Church, with Denis Fritz officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Chase City Rescue Squad.

CLUKA
Joseph (Joey) H. Cluka, age 38, of Richmond, died Sunday, September 15, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Cluka; a son, Joseph; a stepdaughter, Samantha Gerken; his parents, Edward L. and Rose M. Cluka; two brothers, John and Edward; two sisters-in-law, Sharon and Crissy; his grandfather, Peter S. Esposito of South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral notice later.

Departed this life September 16, 2002, Mr. Otha Crowder of Richmond. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St. Funeral notice later.

DOWNER
Margaret B. Downer went to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ on September 15, 2002. She is survived by her brother, Ralph O. Brini; 12 nieces and nephews; and a very special aunt, Mary Simons. The family will receive friends at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 South Laburnum Ave., from 7 until 9 p.m. Tuesday. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Westhampton Memorial Park.

ENGLEHART
Virginia G. Englehart, age 68, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 15, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Shirley W. Englehart Sr.; her daughters, Sandra G. Konst and Susan L. Magee ; her sons, Raymond A. Duty, Gregory L. Duty; stepsons, Shirley W. Englehart Jr., Ralph G. Englehart and David W. Englehart; her stepdaughters, Joy Wells and Carol B. Boschen; also 21 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Donald A. Duty. Mrs. Englehart was a beloved employee of Copy Van Printing for 20 years. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where services will be held 1 p.m. on Wednesday. FRAZIER
Cindy Wolfrey Frazier, 45, of Prince George, died Saturday, September 14, 2002 in MCV Hospital. Mrs. Frazier was born in Petersburg and was a fiscal assistant with 18 years of service with the Virginia Department of Transportation. Preceded in death by her father, Wilton Bryant Wolfrey, she is survived by her husband, Michael A. Frazier of the home; two daughters, Jamie Frazier Van Epps and her husband, Todd of Surry, Samantha Marissa Frazier of the home; a very special friend, Jennifer Moogalian Jones of Prince George; her mother, Frances S. Wolfrey of Sussex; two sisters and three brothers, Linda Dianne Lewis of Dinwiddie, Raymond B. Wolfrey of Colonial Heights, Wilton Wayne Wolfrey of Sussex, Frances Dale Alter of Matoaca, George Eric Wolfrey of Dinwiddie; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18 in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Lewis Lawson, pastor of Faith Baptist Church of Waverly, officiating. The entombment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Brad Aultman, Jimmy Vinsh, Aubrey Minson, Ronnie Moore, Bernard Jones and Mike Persinger. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

FURR
Mary Katherine "Kitty" Furr, 73, of Richmond and more recently of Tampa, Fla., went to be with Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior, on Sunday, September 15, 2002. She was preceded in death by her devoted Christian parents, Curtis J. and Ellie N. Lacks. She is survived by her husband, Murray B. Furr Sr.; and her five loving sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas T. and Gayle Prousalis Jr., Curtis A. and Janet Prousalis, Christos A. and Carol Prousalis, Nicholas A. and Tina Prousalis, Paul A. and Barbara Prousalis. She has 12 precious grandchildren. She is also survived by a loving sister, Fannie C. Lyda and her five children. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where funeral services will be held Wednesday 11 a.m. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Christian charity of your choice.

GOODE
Ellen May Goode, 81, of Richmond, died Tuesday, September 10, 2002. She was the daughter of the late Harry S. and Lillian Smith Goode and was preceded in death by a sister, Betty G. Wood. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Jane G. Goodman and Mrs. Nancy G. Lynn, both of Richmond; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. A private memorial service was held Monday, September 16, 2002 at Westhampton Memorial Park.

GRIFFIN
Richard Henry Griffin, 83, of Chesterfield, died Sunday, September 15, 2002 at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg. A native of Mecklenburg Co., he was the son of the late James LaFate and Mary Belle Seamans Griffin. Mr. Griffin was a retired steel worker from Bristol Steel and a longtime member of Harrowgate Baptist Church, where he held many offices including Deacon, Trustee, and Sunday school director. Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Griffin. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence and Blanche Griffin of Colonial Heights; two grandchildren, Terrie and her husband, Roy Stafford of Dalton, Georgia and Mike and his wife, Ginny Griffin of Moseley, Virginia; four great-grandchildren, Chris and his wife, Jessica Davis of Dalton, Georgia, Cory Griffin of Powhatan, Virginia, Zach Stafford of Dalton, Georgia and Meghan Griffin of Mosley, Virginia; one great-great-grandchild, Isaiah Davis of Dalton, Georgia; two sisters, Missouri Thomas of Chester, Virginia and Frances Poole of Prince George, Virginia. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 18, 2002 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights. Interment to follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 17, 2002 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. HUSKE
Leighton Huske III, 63, passed away on September 14, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Anne Rawles Goolsby Huske; two children, Anne Gibboney Huske and Isabel Kyle Huske, who reside in New York City; and his sister, Janie Huske Satterfield. He was predeceased by his parents, Verna Worthington Huske and Leighton Huske Jr. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, and in 1994 from the University of Virginia, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was employed for 42 years by the former Branch Cabell & Company, now RBC Dain Rauscher, beginning his career as a chalk boy. He became a partner in 1970, was elected president in 1997 and was elected chairman in May 2000, and served in that capacity until the company was aquired. Mr. Huske was the former president of the Securities Association of Virginia and the Bond Club of Virginia. He served as chairman of the Securities Industry Association Sales and Marketing Committee. He was a former allied member of the New York Stock Exchange and a member of the Midwest Stock Exchange. He was involved in many civic activities, including serving as a trustee for the Virginia Student Aid Foundation and a trustee of Historic Richmond Foundation. He was current president of the Alliance Franchise Chapitre Rochambeau and current president of the West End Civic Association. He was a parishoner of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. Funeral service will be held at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 6000 Grove Ave., Richmond, Va., on Tuesday, September 17, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Hollywood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Historic Richmond Foundation, 4 E. Main St., Richmond, Va. 23219 or Virginia Student Aid Foundation, P.O. Box 400833, Charlottesville, Va. 22904.

JOHNS
Melvin Wilbur Johns Jr. was summoned by God on September 13, 2002. Melvin was born on November 7, 1954 at the Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia. He was the oldest of six children born to Melvin W. Johns Sr. and Blanche Bowers Johns. Melvin resided in Richmond, Virginia. He was baptized and accepted Christ at Lebanon Baptist Church. Melvin attended public schools in Surry County, Virginia and graduated from L. P. Jackson High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Saint Paul's College. He was employed by Federal Express Corporation for 23 years. On September 8, 1994, Melvin married Debora Lynn Rainey and a daughter, Bryanna Oni, was born of this union. He was a wonderful and loving husband and father. Melvin loved to hunt and fish. He was a member of the Board of Directors for Spring Grove Gilchrist Hunt Club. He was a kind, thoughtful and affectionate man. Melvin always extended a helping hand to friends and strangers. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Debora Rainey Johns; a daughter, Bryanna Johns; his parents, Melvin and Blanche Johns Sr.; his mother-in-law, Inez Rainey; his brothers, Alvin Johns, Calvin Johns, Ervin Johns, Marvin Johns; his sister, Karin Lane; six sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, seven aunts, two uncles, a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2002 from Lebanon Baptist Church, Surry, Rev. Gregory Spurlock, pastor. Rev. James Harrison, pastor, Main Street Baptist Church, Smithfield, will eulogize. Interment will be in Wierneck Cemetery, Surry. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, September 17, 2002 from Lebanon Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements are being provided by William N. Bland & Son Funeral Home.

KENNY
Eileen Lee Kenny, 85, of Richmond, passed away at home September 15, 2002. She is survived by her children, James, Robert, Thomas, Eugene (Ben), Daniel and Mary Kenny and Catherine Kenny Wheeler; 14 grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Funeral times to be announced.

KESSLER
Marvin A. Kessler, of Richmond, died September 16, 2002. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucille B. Kessler; and his son, Stephen J. Kessler. Survivors include his wife, Faye; his two sons, Craig M. Kessler, of Bethesda, Md. and Neil S. Kessler, of Richmond; five grandchildren, Lisa Kessler Tuchman, Stephanie Beth Kessler, Brent Kessler, Karen Kessler and Jeffrey Kessler; and one stepgranddaughter, Lisa May O'Donnell. Mr. Kessler was president of Craig-Neil Corporation and the Richmond Home Builders Association. He was trustee and member of the Board of Managers of the Boys and Girls Club and member of the Board of Managers of Congregation Beth Ahabah. Mr. Kessler was also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Richmond Jewish Foundation. He was president of St. Joseph's Villa Housing Corporation and was a member of the board. He was treasurer of Lakeside Park, Inc. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Avenue. Interment Hebrew Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Congregation Beth Ahabah, Boys and Girls Club of Richmond, Kids' Kamp or Hollybrook Apartments at St. Joseph's Villa or a charity of your choice.

LEMONS
John Douglas Lemons Jr., age 18, of Topping, Private U.S. Army, died Friday, September 13, 2002 in Louisville, Ky. as a result of injuries received in a training accident at Ft. Knox, Ky. He was a 2002 graduate of Middlesex High School where he excelled in track and cross-country. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Reuben Lemons Sr. and is survived by his mother, Jean M. Bristow and her husband, Chris of Topping; his father, John Douglas Lemons Sr. and his wife, Peggy of Mechanicsville; two sisters, Krystal Lemons of Richmond, Nadine Lemons of Norfolk; one stepsister, Deborah Palicia of Mechanicsville; two stepbrothers, Jim Creasy and Derek Bristow of Richmond; maternal grandparents, Franklin and Colleen Miller of Topping; paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Lemons of Gloucester. Funeral services will be held 3:30 p.m. Thursday, September 19, 2002 in Harmony Grove Baptist Church, Topping. Interment with full military honors will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home, Saluda. In lieu of flowers, please make any memorial contributions in the name of John D.
