Died September 16, 2002, Walter L. Williams Jr. of 4710 Laurie Lane, former proprietor of Johnson Florist. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave. Funeral notice later.

WOODALL
Warren G. Woodall, age 81, of Amelia, formerly of Richmond, died on September 16, 2002. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie B. Woodall; and son, Verlin "Blackie" Woodall; and is survived by his sister, Ruth W. Stockner of Amelia; and sister-in-law, Mamie Bates; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home, 16409 Court St., Amelia, with burial following on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Maury Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday evening. Contributions may be made to either the Amelia Rescue Squad or to APAW. HILLSMAN HIX FUNERAL HOME

AMOS
Samuel W. Amos Sr., 72, of Dillwyn, died July 16, 2001. He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel G. Amos; four brothers, Walter G. Amos, Alvin Amos, Stuart Amos and Aubrey Amos. He is survived by his wife, Arlene M. Amos; his mother, Alma M. Amos of Dillwyn; two sons, Samuel W. Amos Jr. and wife, Nancy of Midlothian and James G. Amos and wife, Jeanne of Appomattox; four grandchildren, Sabrina, Bryan, Jennifer and Kaitlyn Amos; three sisters, Louise Griffith of Drewyville, Doris Banton of Powhatan and Margaret Allen of Eden, N.C. Mr. Amos was a member of the Enon Baptist Church, member of American Welding Society and Army veteran of the Korean War. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn, with interment in the Amos family cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

BAKER
Departed this life July 16, 2001, Mrs. Lucille M. Baker, of 603 N. 33rd St. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St. Funeral notice later.

BARDEN
Clarence E. Barden Jr., 81, of Chesterfield, passed away July 15, 2001. He is survived by his children, Chuck, Robert and Terry Barden; his sisters, Ethel B. Wilkinson, Mamie B. Brooks, Daisy B. Garbett and Shirley Warren; 10 grandchildren. He was a veteran of WWII and Korea. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday. Interment Dale Memorial Park.

BECK
Georgia Elizabeth Beck, 82, entered eternal life on Sunday, July 15, 2001. Mrs. Beck was a nurse for 40 years and retired from Richmond Eye Hospital. Mrs. Beck is survived by three sisters and one brother all in Florida; two daughters, Carolyn Wood and her husband, Kevin, and Gail Boothe and her husband, Richard; four grandchildren, Sherry Eagle, Robert Faulkner, Ashley and Amber Boothe. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed. A memorial gathering will be held Thursday, July 19, 6 to 9 p.m. at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Boothe, 12600 Parker Lane, Chester, Virginia.

BRANHAM
A. Larry Branham, 65, of Chesterfield, passed away Monday, July 16, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Betty W. Branham; two daughters, Tracey B. Bew and husband, Dennis and Jennifer B. Wrenn and husband, Steve; one son, Phillip S. Branham, all of Chesterfield; his mother, Audrey C. Branham; three sisters, Sue Williams, Phyllis Woodfin and Charlotte Burden; a brother, James D. Branham, all of Richmond; two grandchildren, Kendall Bew and Kristen Wrenn. Mr. Branham was a retired vice president of Insurance and Personnnel for Overnite Transportation Company. He also served in the U.S. Army. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10), where services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday. Interment Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia, Va. at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gospel Baptist Church, 1300 Turner Rd., Richmond, Va. 23225 or American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, Va. 23060.

Ronald Wayne Cary, resident of Crownsville, Md., passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2001. Loving husband to Sally Cary; father of Craig, Joshua, and Eliza Cary; brother of Fred Cary and Roberta Fabrizio; son of Dorothy N. Cary. Visitation will be held 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2001 at Stockton Memorial Church, 5100 Claypoint Rd., Chesterfield, Va. where a service will be held at 2 p.m. Interment will be held at Dale Memorial Gardens, Richmond, Va. CROCKETT
Sallie R. Crockett, age 92, of Hanover Co., Va., passed on to eternal rest on July 14, 2001. Survived by five sons and daughters-in-law, James (Sonny) and Geraldine , William (Bill) and Alease, Irving and Virginia, Herbert and Helen, George and Lillie Crockett, all of the Richmond area; one daughter and son-in-law, Adelle and Alexander Hooper of Patterson, N.J. The family will receive friends 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the K.L. Jordan Funeral Services, 5008 Nine Mile Rd. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2001, at the First Union Baptist Church, Mechanicsville, Va., Dr. Rev. B.S. Giles officiating. Interment church cemetery. DAVENPORT
Elsie Robinson Davenport, born January 18, 1923 in Richmond, Va., died peacefully in her home, July 15, 2001, after a short illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John DunLevy Davenport Jr.; brother, Warren J. Robinson; and sister-in-law, Rose S. Robinson. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra D. Brooks; son, John D. "Jay" Davenport IV and his wife, Paula Hersh Davenport; grandson, Carter P. Brooks and his wife, Monica S. Brooks; brother, Victor B. Robinson, his daughters and their families; sister-in-law, Frances P. Robinson. Mrs. Davenport, a former member of River Road Church Baptist, has most recently been an active member of Ginter Park Baptist Church, the church of her early years. She was dedicated to Henrico County and many of its civic and charitable organizations. Mrs. Davenport was the 1989 Henrico Christmas Mother and served multiple terms as both chairman of the Elizabeth Adam Crump Manor Advisory Board and President of the E.A.C.M. Auxiliary. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 17, 2 p.m. at Ginter Park Baptist Church, 1200 Wilmington Ave. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Henrico Christmas Mother, P.O. Box 27, Sandston, Va. 23150 or E.A.C.M. Auxiliary, 3600 Mountain Rd., Glen Allen, Va. 23060.

DAVIS
Floyd L. Davis of 5422 Darbytown Rd. died July 12, 2001. Surviving are a host of nieces and nephews, one devoted, Helen Atkins Ross; other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Pk. Blvd., where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m., Rev. Dr. Stephen L. Hewlett officiating. Interment Quantico National Cemetery.

GLIDEWELL
Reginald (Earl) Glidewell, 67, of Midlothian, passed away July 16, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Jessie Glidewell; four sons, Reggie Glidewell, Merle Glidewell and his wife, Brenda, Gerald Glidewell and his wife, Donna, and Mark Glidewell; four sisters, Myrtle Schmidt, Norma McLean, Louise Lipford and Violet Williams; two brothers, Gordon and Linwood Glidewell; and eight grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m., and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, with interment in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Midlothian, Va.

GRANDIS
Harriet G. Grandis, died Sunday, July 15, 2001 in Richmond, after a brief illness. She was born on January 8, 1923. Mrs. Grandis devoted much of her life to numerous civic organizations. She served as an honorary co-chair for the Jewish Community Federation's Campaign for Operations Exodus, helping the foundation meet its goal of $2 million. Mrs. Grandis was a Director Emeritus of the Richmond Childrens Museum, and along with her husband, Harry Grandis, created scholarships for students attending Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Richmond. Each year for the past ten years, they have contributed tuition for three VCU School of Medicine students. She was a sponsor of the Harry and Harriet Grandis Behavior Department at the Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba, Israel. In May of 2000, Virginia Commonwealth University awarded Mrs. Grandis along with her husband, the Edward A. Wayne Medal for outstanding contributions to society through humanitarianism, science, art and public service. Mrs. Grandis was a former Board member of Jewish Family Services, Congregation Beth Ahabah Sisterhood, and the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals Hospitality House. She also was a member of the Massey Cancer Center Club. Mrs. Grandis is survived by her husband, Harry Grandis; her mother, Sophia Gumenick of Miami Beach, Fla.; her three daughters, Nancy Grandis White of Naples, Fla., Linda Grandis Blatt of Morristown, N.J., and Betty Sue Grandis LePage of Richmond; eight grandchildren; and brother, Jerome Gumenick. Services will be held at 12 Noon on Tuesday, July 17, at Congregation Beth Ahabah. Interment will be at Hebrew Cemetery. The family requests contributions may be made to the Childrens Museum of Richmond or the MCV Hospitality House.

GRANT
Departed this life July 11, 2001, Douglas E. Grant Sr. He is survived by his daughter, Theresa Safewright; six grandchildren; parents; Ethel and Johnnie Grant Sr; three brothers, James D. Baker III, Johnnie Grant Jr. and Valden S. Grant; two sisters, Carmilla B. and Janice M. Grant; a son-in-law, a daughter-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Remains may be viewed Wednesday, 4 to 6 p.m. at Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Ave.

HENSLEY
Dorman Elwood Hensley, 70, died July 15, 2001 at home. Retired from the U. S. Postal Service. He is survived by his wife, Shirley A. Hensley and three daughters, Patty Simmers of Mechanicsville, Shelley Moser of Chesterfield, Debbie Bender of Winchester and four grandchildren; one sister, Geraldine Bailey of Ashland. He was active in the American Red Cross and the VFW. Memorial service July 19, 7 p.m. at the Advent Christian Church, Mechanicsville, Va. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Central Virginia Hospice or Advent Christian Church.

JOHNSON
Harriett T. Johnson, 51, of Mechanicsville, was called home by God on July 14, 2001. She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Faizah E. Johnson; two sons, Stanley E. Johnson Jr. and Antwan L. Johnson; mother, Rachel Q. Thompson; grandmother, Clara J. Quash; sisters, Loretta Thompson, Arlene Belfield, Stephanie Watkins; brothers, William H. Jr. and Gregory Thompson; sister-in-law, Cheryl Thompson; brother-in-law, Kenneth Watkins. Visitation Tuesday 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Jerusalem Baptist Church, Doswell, Va. and where funeral will be held on Wednesday 2 p.m. Interment Roselawn Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Jerusalem Special Building Fund or the American Cancer Society. The Dabneys, Moriticans, in charge of arrangements.
