LEMASTERS
Landon Lucas Lemasters, age 21, of Midlothian, began walking on golden streets with Jesus on July 13, 2001. He was born March 3, 1980 in Steubenville, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jamin Lemasters; his stepfather, Michael Stephenson; his grandparents, Harold and Rose Lemasters; uncle, Mark Johnson; and cousin, Kiki Vicarro. Surviving are his father, Kevin Lemasters; mother, Juanita Stephenson; devoted brother, Theo Kevin Lemasters; sister, Kristin Stephenson; grandparents, Jessie Flener, Jean Smith, Cleo and Jo Flener; uncle, Cleo and others; aunts, Lisa, Gwen, Tina, Jo, Hannah, Scharlene and Screna and others; cousins, Erin and Ryan Goggin and Chelsea, Ashley and Ethan and others. The list of friends is very large because of Landon's large heart. He was there when we needed him and if it weren't for the joy he knows now, it would be unspeakable to continue without him. Services will be held at Grace Alive Outreach Church, 4912 E. Millridge Pkwy., Midlothian, Va., on Tuesday, July 17, 2001 at 7 p.m. Pastor David Ferguson officiating. If you knew him, you loved him, come and share our memorial to the loving soul he was.

MANTLO
Daniel "Buster" Mantlo, husband of Louise D. Mantlo, passed away July 16, 2001. He was retired from National Airlines. Funeral arrangements incomplete. The family is being served by Nelsen Funeral Home.

McMILLAN
Kenneth Beryl McMillan, age 73, died Sunday, July 15, 2001 at his home in St. Albans, West Virginia. Mr. McMillan graduated from Marion High School and attended Emory & Henry College. He worked for Exxon Company U.S.A., where he retired after 35 years of service. He was of the Methodist faith and an avid golfer. Mr. McMillan is survived by his wife, Mrs. Peggy Campbell McMillan of St. Albans, W.Va.; four sons, Samuel L. McMillan of Princeton, W.Va., Kenneth R. McMillan of Silver Spring, Md., Robert D. McMillan of Monroe, N.C., and William P. McMillan of Charlotte, N.C.; one sister, Alberteen McMillan of Marion, Va.; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 18, 2001 at 2:30 p.m. at Rose Lawn Mausoleum with Rev. Buddy Miller officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 18, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Seaver- Brown Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to: Darlington United Methodist Church, 143 Seventh Avenue, South Charleston, W.Va. 25309. Seaver- Brown Funeral Service is serving the McMillan family.

NEWMAN
James Hall "Shorty" Newman Sr., age 77, of Lawrenceville, Va., died July 15, 2001. He was a founding and lifetime member of the Brunswick Volunteer Rescue Squad. He was the widower of Corene Eastwood Newman and survived by two daughters and their husbands, Deborah and Mike Brockwell and Lynda and Marvin Moore, both of Lawrenceville; a son, James H. Newman Jr. of Lawrenceville; two sisters, Harriette Ferguson and Mayme Horne, both of Richmond; two brothers, Austin Newman of Baskerville and Clyde Newman of Lawrenceville; eight grandchildren, Shannon and Mike Marston, Mindy and Emmitt Whitby, Tom "Bubba" Barnette, Marshall Barnette, Gil Moore, Jamie Newman, Katie Newman and Jessie Barnette; one great-grandson, Cody Marston; three great-granddaughters, Emily, Blair and Susannah Whitby; four stepgrandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Sunday at Williams Funeral Home, with interment at Crestview Memorial Park, South Hill, Va. Memorials may be made to Brunswick Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 33, Lawrenceville, Va. 23868.

Departed this life July 16, 2001, Mrs. Lula Mae Patrick, formerly of 3506 E. Clay St. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St. Funeral notice later.

PRENTISS
Deacon Ruffin M. Prentiss Sr., of Charles City, departed this life July 15, 2001. He is survived by his devoted wife, Marguerite; daughter, JoAnne Crawley, of Charles City and huband, Lorenzo; son, Ruffin Prentiss Jr. of Richmond, and wife, Delcenia; three grandsons, Vaughan Crawley, Ruffin III and Landon Prentiss; granddaughter-in-law, Crystal Crawley, great-grandson, Jordon Crawley; four sisters, Bessie Dennis, Maude Roberts, Viola Brown and Lillian Lee, all of New York; two brothers, Robert and Roger Prentiss, of Richmond; a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at J. Leroy Charity Funeral Home, Charles City. At 11 a.m. Thursday, Mr. Prentiss will rest at St. John Baptist Church where services will be held 1 p.m. Rev. Eddie L. Perry officiating. Interment church cemetery.

PUTNEY
Marc Alexander Putney, 18, died suddenly Sunday, July 14, 2001. He was the son of Rebecca M. Rowsey and Robert M. Putney; brother of Scott M. Putney; grandson of Eva M. Rowsey and the late Robert M. Rowsey Jr.; also grandson of Ms. Lucy Turlington and Mrs. Rebecca G. Putney and the late George W. Putney. Marc was a 2001 graduate of New Kent High School and leaves behind numerous family and friends. Funeral plans to be announced later. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New Kent High School Athletic Dept., P.O. Box 150, New Kent, Va. 23124 or to your favorite charity. Nelsen Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

ROSS
Barbara Ross of Midlothian died on July 12, 2001 from complications of breast cancer she had been fighting since 1978. Barbara was born in Orange, N.J. She was the youngest child of Harry and Dorothy Maudsley and is survived by her sister, Patricia Fuller of Gulf Port, Florida; her children, Rhonda Lee Kain, Jennifer Ross, Alison Ross, James Ross; her grandchildren, Alison Bulluck, Heather Kain, Anne Marie Kain, Dawn Kain, Emily Ross, Megan Ross, Melissa Ross, Hannah Ross-Broadhurst; her great-grandchild, Zachary Kain; and her husband, John Ross. After marriage, she lived in Union, N.J., Millington, N.H. and Midlothian, Va. She had strong ties with friends in the Richmond area, the Northern Neck and particularly in the Rappahannock River Yacht Club, where she was most influential in establishing the Junior Sailing program in the early 1980s. She participated regularly in the Chesapeake Bay PHRF RRYC racing program on their Black Tartan 26, "Shadow", and in later years in the RRYC Cruising program. Millington, New Jersey municipal activities and field trips with the New Jersey Audubon Society were high on her agenda. Employment for over 20 years with the J.B. Rudolph Company with the Thalhimers' fine jewelry sales organization in Richmond held her interest. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 4 at 2:30 p.m. at the Parham Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Road, in Henrico County. It is requested contributions be directed to your favorite charity in lieu of flowers.

SHELTON
James Cutcher Shelton Sr., 69, of Louisa, died July 16, 2001. He is survivied by his wife, Bertha Dillard Shelton of Louisa, two sons, James C. Shelton Jr. and David Shelton, both of Louisa; three sisters, Evelyn Kinser, Betty Cucci, Ruth Raymond all of Tenessee, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church with internment in the family cemetery. The family will recieve friends at the Sheridan Funeral Home Kents Store, Va. from 7 to 8:30 Wednesday. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Mt. Gilead Baptist Church.

TAYLOR
Evelyn B. Taylor of Richmond, formerly of the West End, died July 16, 2001. Remains rest at Scotts Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd. Funeral notice later.

TAYLOR
Wilbur L. Taylor, retired educator, of 3316 Fendall Ave., departed this life July 13, 2001. He is survived by his aunt, Pearl T. Dandridge of New York; devoted godson, Wilbur J. Hurdle Sr. (Marlicia); several devoted cousins, many devoted friends, among them, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse and Betty Hurdle; former co-workers, former students and his church family. Remains rest at the Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Ave., where the family will receive friends Tuesday, 6 to 7 p.m. Graveside rites will be conducted Wednesday, 3 p.m. at Forest Lawn Mausoleum Chapel, 4000 Pilots Lane, with Dr. Alonza L. Lawrence officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home Wednesday at 2:15 p.m. Mr. Taylor was a retired public school principal and a member of Moore Street Missionary Baptist Church.

UTLEY
Mrs. Frances Simpson Utley, 95, of Richmond, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2001. She was the widow of Eugene F. Utley Jr. and is survived by her three stepchildren, Eugene F. Utley III and his wife, Kitty, Betty U. Durrette and her husband, James, and James F. Utley and his wife, Nancy; two nephews, John Christopher Evans and Michael Evans; one niece, Dottie Lee Schaeffer; and two grandnieces; nine stepgrandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. Her remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 18 at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association of Greater Richmond Chapter, 4600 Cox Rd., Suite 130, Glen Allen, Va. 23060.

WILLIAMS
Departed this life July 14, 2001, Russell Williams Sr. of 500 Fayette Ave. He was a retired health and physical education teacher and administrator in the Richmond Public Schools system. He also worked in the Department of Recreation and Parks as a director. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Almeta Perkins Williams; one son, Russell Winzell Williams Jr.; one devoted sister, Maserine Williams (Precious); two brothers, Thornton Thomas Williams Jr. (Fatbread) of Trenton, N.J. and John D. Williams; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; three sisters-in-law, Earline Pulley Williams of Trenton, N.J., Gloria Williams, Laverne Williams; and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 1 p.m. at Hood Temple A.M.E. Zion Church, 16 W. Clay St., where remains will lie in state one hour prior funeral time, Dr. Kevin McGill (pastor) officiating. Interment Riverview Cemetery. Family and friends assemble at the church 12:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Jeannie M. Young, 58, of Mechanicsville, daughter of the late, Henry Allen and Mamie Young, died Sunday, July 15, 2001. She is survived by two brothers, Allen L. Young, of Mechanicsville and Henry V. Young, of Rockville, Va. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Atlee Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 301 & Shady Grove Rd., Mechanicsville where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2001. Interment 3 p.m. Wednesday in Bethlehem Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Charlotte Court House, Va. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the Hanover Association for Retarded Citizens.

ATKINS
Eleanor Glass Atkins, widow of Willie Atkins, of Midlothian, died Monday, December 3, 2001. She is survived by her son, Bill Atkins and his wife, Gayle; her brother, Charles W. Glass of Mechanicsville; three grandchildren, Billy and Brian Atkins and Robin A. Seward; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.
