Mr. Charles Linwood Hill Jr. (Bubba) departed this life October 23, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Evelyn Richardson Hill; two sons, Charles L. Hill III and Donald A. Hill Sr. (Theresa); daughter, Senecca Hill-Johnson; five grandchildren; one brother, Preston W. Hill (Ruth J.); two nieces, one nephew, a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. His remains rest at the W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home. After 10 a.m. Saturday, his remains will rest in Rising Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Hartmann and Elkridge Lane where funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. at Dr. James H. Harris, officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery.

JEFFERSON
George Jefferson, age 66, of Petersburg, formerly of Amelia County, died October 22, 2001. He is survived by his daughter, Jackie Fitzgerald of Richmond; four grandchildren; sisters, Sallie Jane McGee, Amelia, Edith Jefferson, North Carolina, Geraldine Dilworth, Maryland and Annie Jefferson, Florida; brothers, Clarence and Robert Jefferson, both of Blackstone; aunt, Mrs. Lillian Glenn, Amelia; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends. Funeral services Saturday, October 27, 1 p.m., The Memorial Chapel, V.Y. Scott Funeral Home, Amelia, burial in Manassa Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Family and friends assemble at the funeral home, 12:30 p.m.

KIRBY
Yusef B. Kirby, 22, of Columbia, S.C., formerly of Richmond, 1996 John Marshall High School graduate, died suddenly October 23, 2001. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paula Kirby and Joseph Gray. Surviving are his devoted wife, Demetrice Kirby; and sons, Tavares Summers and Dominique Kirby; grandmothers, Marjorie Kirby and Beatrice Burton; brothers, Gary J. and Samuel A. Kirby; aunts, Sally S. Kirby, Stefani V. and uncle, Joseph Sams; godmother, Costella Lambert; best friend, Alex Red Lambert; and many relatives and friends. Remains rest at Bostik-Thompkins Funeral Home, Columbia, S.C. Services will be held at Francis Burns United Methodist Church, Columbia, S.C. on Saturday, October 27, at 1 p.m. Interment Palmetto Cemetery. LIGON
Amy Mathews Ligon, born February 14, 1902, passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reginald Ligon; her son, George Ligon; and her daughter, Helen Chapman. She is survived by her daughter, Donna M. Acree and son-in-law, Jerry Acree; six grandchildren, Allen and Gail Morgan, Bryant and Stacy Morgan, Kelly and Tommy Chandler, J.D. and Kara Chapman, Robbie Ligon and Michael Ford; 12 great-grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of St. James United Methodist Church, the Sunshine Sunday School and the United Methodist Women's Organization. Her remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends from 1 to 3 and 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 26 and where funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, October 27. Interment Washington Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.

MILES
Departed this life October 25, 2001, Mr. Alonzo M. Miles of 3506 Delaware Ave. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St. Funeral notice later.

MOHLE
Amanda Calvert Mohle, born September 20, 1965, died October 20, 2001 in Dallas, Texas. She is survived by her parents, Tony and inger Pelling of Richmond; her father, Ted Mohle Jr.; a brother, Ted Mohle III; two nephews, Teddy and Anderson; and a niece, Olivia of Houston, Texas. Amanda lived most of her life in Houston, but some of her happiest years were as a student at Luther Memorial School. A funeral will be held 10 a.m. Monday, October 29, 2001 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Ginter Park, 321-9548, where Amanda served as an acolyte. MONTAGUE
Dr. J. Warren Montague, 89, of Richmond, died Wednesday, October 24, 2001 surrounded by his family. Born in Roanoke, Va. on April 4, 1912, he received his MD degree in 1939 from the University of Virginia. While attending UVA, he was captain of the swim team and was head coach of the freshman and varsity swim teams during medical school. He married Adelaide Walton in 1941 during his residency at MCV in Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology, volunteering for service in World War II soon afterwards. During World War II, he served for three and one half years with the 45th General Hospital and in the European Theater. He attained the rank of Captain and was awarded three bronze stars. Dr. Montague became board certified in Otolaryngology in 1951. Following World War II, he was a dedicated volunteer at McGuire Veterans Hospital and was clinical consultant in Otolaryngology for several years; he was also associate clinical professor at MCV in Otolaryngology from 1947 to 1978. During those years, he maintained a private ear, nose, and throat practice in Richmond. He served as Chief of Staff of Stuart Circle and the Richmond Eye and Ear hospitals, and was a member of many organizations: the American college of Surgeons, American Medical Association, Medical Society of Virginia, Virginia Society of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology, and the Richmond Academy of Medicine. A deacon and elder at First Presbyterian Church, he was also proud to serve on the Board of Trustees of the University of Virginia Medical School Foundation. After he retired, Dr. Montague continued one of his lifelong interests and won five medals in swimming in two years of competition in the Senior Olympics. He was a passionate Cavalier fan. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting. In addition to his loving wife of 60 years, he is also survived by four devoted children, John Warren Montague Jr. and his wife, Sue, Gay Montague Jewett and her husband, Bryce and David Lee Montague and his wife, Neblett, all of Richmond, and Mary Warren Montague Pinnell of Virginia Beach; also seven grandchildren, Warren and Kevin Montague, Jennifer Jewett Ruth and Bryce Jewett III, Preston and Whitney Montague and Wellford Pinnell; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, J. Kyle Montague Jr. of Bellingham, Wash. and B. Barnett Montague of Roanoke, Va. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Friday, October 26 at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 4602 Cary Street Road, Richmond, Va. 23226 or to the UVA Medical School Foundation, P.O. Box 800776, Charlottesville, Va. 22908-0776.

NAPIER
Charles "Chuck" Napier went home to be with the Lord October 24, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Napier; daughter, Lisa Napier; son, Brian Moser; sister, Shirley Harrington and her husband, Elmer; sisters-in-law, Rosalie Pyle and LuAnn Napier. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ellen Napier Hampton; father, Joseph Napier; and brothers, Raymond Napier and Robert Pyle. He was retired from Reynolds Metals Company and was a graduate of John Marshall High School Class of 1955. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., where services will be held Saturday 2 p.m. Interment Greenwood Memorial Gardens officated by Rev. Edward Powell of Bethel Baptist Church.

PERRY
Ruth M. Perry, age 99, of Bumpass, Va., died Wednesday, October 24, 2001. She is survived by her devoted son, H.C. Perry III; her daughter, Mary Alice Runquist; her brother, Paul Meredith; and several nieces. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Fork Baptist Church with interment in Hillcrest Cemetery, Louisa. The family will receive friends at the church from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Katherine M. Revere, 79, of Mechanicsville, widow of Robert L. Revere, died Wednesday, October 24, 2001. She is survived by her daughter, Juanita R. Johnson and her husband, Thomas G. Johnson; her son, Ronald W. Revere and his wife, Jackie S. Revere; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and her brother, Carter W. Talley. Remains rest at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd., where the family will receive friends 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 26 at Signal Hill Memorial Park.

Rebecca (Becky) Marion Rowsey, 44, departed this life on October 25, 2001. She was predeceased by her son, Marc Putney; brother, Mike Rowsey; and her father, Bob Rowsey. She is survived by her son, Scott M. Putney; her mother, Eva M. Rowsey; her brother and sister-in-law, Rick M. and Patty A. Rowsey; her sister-in-law, Nancy J. Rowsey; her nephews, Chris, Alex, and Eric Rowsey. Rebecca was a loving mother, daughter, sister, and friend and was a lifetime employee of Philip Morris. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 27, 2001 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Mechanicsville Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee Davis Rd. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to New Kent Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving or a charity of your choice.

SARAFIAN
Alma Hortense Sarafian, 90, of Richmond, died October 24, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Sarafian; and their son, Michael and daughter, Taquehi. She is survived by four children, two sons, Peter Jr. and Walter; two daughters, Miriam Keith and Margaret Perkins; two brothers, Paul and Eubank Sale; two sisters, Elva Lantz and Joyce Johnston; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and all those that loved her. She was a member of the Friendship Class at Skipwith Baptist Church. Memorial services will be held at Skipwith Baptist Church Saturday, October 27 at 2 p.m. Memorial gifts in her name may be made to Skipwith Baptist Church.

SMITH
Gladys Anderson Smith, age 88, of Collingswood, N.J. and formerly of Elizabeth, N.J., died October 14, 2001. She is survived by her daughters, Jean E. Smith of Collingswood, N.J., Virginia Lee Barnett and husband, Gavin of Kingsville, Ontario, Canada, Diana Smith Clark and husband, Chuck of Chesterfield, Va.; grandchildren, Paige and Stephanie Clark of Richmond, Va., Craig Forbes of Hoboken, N.J., Melissa Forbes and Susan Gallo of Riverdale, N.Y.; great-grandson, Chris Gallo. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association of Virginia.

Mrs. Ruth Hall "Bootsie" Vesely, 81, of Glen Allen, went to be with Our Lord October 25, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Ervin Vesely Sr.; and her brother Thomas Felix Hall. She is survived by three sons, Ervin Vesely Jr. and wife, JoAnne, James M. Vesely and wife, Judy, Robert W. Vesely and wife, Jeane; one daughter, Shelby V. Kelley and husband, Donald; seven grandchildren, Donna Pierce, Pamela DeArras, Deborah Slaughter, Stephanie Farley, Stephen Vesely Sr., Carey Kendrick and Jill Vesely; six great-grandchildren, Jessica Thompson, Stephen Vesely Jr., Dustin Yates, Kelli Pierce, Katie Pierce and Sarah Farley; one brother, Charles Hall and wife, Delcena of Pinole, Calif.; one sister, Fannie Wyrick and husband, William; and many other relatives and friends. Mrs. Vesely was employed by Henrico County Public Schools as a school bus driver for 43 years. Remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends Friday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at New Found Church of Christ. Ophelia Myrtle Washington departed this life October 23, 2001. Preceded in death by her sister, Claudette W. Myers, she is survived by a daughter, P. Claudette W. Barbour of New Jersey; son, Bruce E. Washington (Dr. Verneda Washington) of Missouri; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brother, Robert H. Washington, Jr. (Bernice); three sisters, Consuelo Brown, Anna Washington, Robinette Miller (Andrew); one brother-in-law, Joseph E. Myers; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins (devotedly Elizabeth Roberts) and friends. Her remains rest at the W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home.
