Ruth Arrington Flippin, age 92, of Jetersville, died on April 20, 2001. Preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; son, Raymond James Flippin; and her daughter, Zona F. Bowman, and is survived by her daughter, Sylvia F. Farley of Richmond; two sons, Reginald E. Flippin of Jetersville, and Bobby L. Flippin of Emporia; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Graveside services Sunday, 3 p.m. at Little Flock Cemetery in Amelia. Contributions may be made to the Amelia Fire Dept. Arrangements by the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home of Amelia. GREENE
Vessie Coleman Greene, 79, of Richmond, passed away on April 19, 2001 at McGuire Veterans Hospital. A native of Blackstone, Va., he is survived by his daughter, Ginger Greene and son-in-law, Dennis Loudermilk; son, Allan Greene and daughter-in-law, Julie Greene; sister, Ginny Davis; brother, Charles "Piney" Greene; granddaughter, Paula vonHoene and her husband, Michael vonHoene; and great-grandson, Carter vonHoene. A service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

GRIFFITH
William (Billy Payne) Griffith, 53, of Oak Grove, Va., passed away Thursday, April 19, 2001 in Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg. He was a retired employee from NSWC, Dahlgren, Va., a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Oak Grove. His survivors include his sister, Emily Griffith Ward, Dalton, Georgia; also two nephews, Lorin Griffith Ward of Marietta, Ga., Richard Carter Ward, Virginia Beach, Va.; a niece, Erin Elizabeth Ward of Dalton, Ga.; an aunt, Gladys DeAtley of Colonial Beach. He was also survived by several cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Richard Mayo Griffith and Lula DeAtley Griffith. Visitation 2 to 3 p.m. on Sunday in St. Peter's Episcopal Church Parish Hall, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 3 p.m. in the church, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Prentice Kinser. Burial of ashes at Yeocomico Episcopal Church Cemetery at a later date. Expressions may be to Yeocomico Cemetery Fund, Box 110, Hague, Va. 22469 and/or the American Cancer Society, Rt. 2, Box 738, Montross, Va. 22520. HAGY
James Toliver Hagy, CPA, departed this life on April 17, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Martha Hagy; son, Chris Hagy of Richmond; mother, Ruth Hagy of Virginia Beach; a sister, Linda Pope; and brother-in-law, Dr. Robert Pope of Virginia Beach. Mr. Hagy was an alumnus of the University of Richmond in Political Science, and also a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He served his country as an officer in the U.S. Army, a Vietname War veteran, and a member of the Presidential Honor Guard. He graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in accounting and became a manager in general practice with Coopers and Lybrand. Later, he became the Director of Internal Audit, then Controller for the Carpenter Company. The family wishes to thank the many friends, co-workers, neighbors, MCV Oncology and Neurosurgery doctors and nurses who have shown continuing support throughout the challenges of the last year with special thanks to Carpenter Company for enduring and heartfelt encouragement. The family requests that contributions go to the Thomas Palliative Care Unit at the Medical College of Virginia. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 29, 2001, 2:30 p.m. at Grace Covenant Baptist Church, 4200 Dover Rd., Richmond, Va.

HAMMERSLEY
Katherine Lea Hammersley died March 28, 2001. Memorial services for Katherine will be at Maymont Assembly Hall, 1700 Hampton Street, Richmond, Va., on Sunday, April 29, at 2 p.m.

HARPER
Faye Boatwright Harper, 64, of Richmond, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2001, after a long battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, James L. "Joe" Harper; a daughter and her husband, Wanda F. and Warren K. Dean; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; her mother, Ruth A. Boatwright; two brothers and their spouses, Joseph Guy and Ann Boatwright, and Buddy and Claire Boatwright; a sister, Rosemary B. Dunn of South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Harper was a longtime waitress at the Raleigh Hotel Coffee Shop and the Steak and Eggs Restaurant at Three Chopt and Patterson. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where the family will receive friends anytime after 12 p.m. Sunday, and where a service will be held 11 a.m. Monday with interment to follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

HARRISON
Elizabeth "Betty" Ahern Harrison, age 76, died April 20, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Wilson Randolph "Ranny" Harrison; one daughter, Theresa L. Turner; and son, Carter R. Harrison; grandchildren, Bryce W. Harrison, Christopher M. Turner and Katherine E. Turner; two brothers, Charles E. Ahern of Cedartown, Ga., and Richard Ahern of Virginia Beach, Va. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends Saturday 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary at 7 p.m. Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at St. Benedict's Catholic Church with interment to follow, Mount Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

HILL
Anamae H. Hill, 75, widow of Herbert H. Hill of Richmond, died Saturday, April 21, 2001. She is survived by her daughter, Marty Burris and son-in-law, Stanley Burris of Raleigh, N.C.; her son, Herbert H. Hill Jr. and daughter-in-law, Betsy Hill of Richmond. Other family members include sister-in-law, Kathryn H. O'Grady; five grandchildren, Allison Grainger, Jonathan Grainger, Anna Harrell and husband, Steve, Herbie Hill III and Margaret Hill; three step-granddaughters, Cindy Lewis and husband, Dennis, Regina Green and husband, Dillard, and Bridget Skillman and husband, Tim; one great-granddaughter, Anja Melin Harrell. She was loved and will be deeply missed by her loyal friends, co-workers and faithful members of her church community. Her remains rest at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., where the family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be held at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 1101 Forest Ave., Richmond, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 24. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a memorial donation be made to Bon Secours Hospice, 5008 Monument Ave., Richmond, Va. 23230.

Mrs. Helen P. Holt of Chesterfield, departed this life Thursday, April 19, 2001. She leaves to mourn, her beloved cousin, Clara P. Gilliam and her husband, James W. Gilliam; other cousins, Herchiel A., Daniel A. (Billy) and Oakley W. Patron, Alva P. Kilby, Nellie and Magnolia Patron, Audrey Turner, John, Earnest, Otis and Wilbert Patron and Exie McDonald; one sister-in-law, Ozella Spencer; and a host of other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Sts., where the family will receive friends Sunday (today), 6 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 23, 1 p.m. at Spring Creek Baptist Church, 11900 Genito Rd. Rev. and Dr. Jackie and Micah McCreary, officiating. Interment in the Patron Family Cemetery, Chesterfield Co. After 12 Noon Monday, remains will rest in the above named church until hour of service. Relatives and friends attending funeral services, assemble at the church Monday, 12:30 p.m.

JENKINS
Lane Drewry Jenkins, age 72, of Rice, died April 20, 2001 in Richmond. Survived by two sisters, Lois J. Coates of Rice and Virginia Ann Strange of Chester; a half brother, James Jenkins of Richmond. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the chapel of the Shorter Funeral Home, Farmville, with interment in the family cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

KOOGER
Marie Westhoven Kooger, 84, of Richmond, died Wednesday, April 18, 2001. She was the widow of Renz Kooger. Survivors include her daughter, Karen K. Witt; son, David B. Kooger; sister, Antonette Rozell; two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. The remains rest at the West Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 West Broad Street, Glen Allen, where the family will receive friends Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 9 p.m., and where funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2800 Parham Road, Richmond, Va. 23294.

LACY
Laura M. Lacy of 3028 Lamb Ave., died April 20, 2001. Remains rest at the Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd. Funeral notice later.

MAYHEW
Phyllis H. Mayhew, passed away April 21, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth L. Mayhew; her two daughters, Anita Grant and husband, Clyde Jr. and Katharine Osterman and her husband, Charles Jr.; a brother, Niles Hopper Jr.; and a half-brother, Jack Hopper; two sisters, Imogene Wash and Rita Poore; two grandchildren, Lee Grant and Katie Johnson. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Chesterfield Baptist Church Cemetery, 16520 Hull St. Rd., Moseley, Va. 23120. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bon Secours Hospice, 5875 Bremo Rd., Suite 710, Richmond, Va. 23226.

MILLER
Donald E. Miller, age 65, died April 6, 2001. He is survived by his brother, Frank R. Miller; and several cousins. Private burial at Taylorsville Baptist Church, Doswell, Va.

OSBORNE
Nancy M. Osborne, 73, of Richmond, died April 19, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Richard E. Osborne Sr.; sons, Richard E. Osborne Jr. and daughter-in-law, Sherrill, Timothy Lee and daughter-in-law, Sharon; a sister-in-law, Barbara Ann Henderson; two grandchildren, Joshua and Emily; a sister, Lacy V. Gregory; and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends Saturday 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, with interment in Maury Cemetery.

OWENS
Evelyn C. Owens, 80, of St. Stephens Church, Va., passed away April 21, 2001. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Edith. She is survived by one sister, Ruby Owens; two brothers, James R. Owens of St. Stephens Church and J. Glenn Owens of Quinton, Va. and many nieces and nephews. Remains rest at the B.W. White Funeral Home, Aylett, where the family will receive friends from to 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, and where funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Monday. Interment in Shepherds Methodist Church Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Shepherds Cemetery Fund.

PARRISH
On April 17, 2001, Geneva M. Parrish, beloved mother of George and Melvin Parrish; sister of Ida Scott, Martha McCalip, Catherine Young, Floyd, James and Joseph Parrish. She is also survived by six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends at the March Funeral Home West, Inc., 4300 Wabash Ave., Baltimore, Md., on Sunday after 8:30 a.m. Funeral services will be Monday at Simmons Memorial in Baltimore, at 11:30 a.m.

PATTERSON
Deborah Renee Patterson of Sandston, formerly of Charles City, departed this life suddenly April 19, 2001. She leaves to mourn a devoted husband, Lawrence Patterson; loving son, Terry Quivers Jr.; a devoted grandmother, Hazel Bradby; two sisters, Rhonda Cotman and husband, Leon, Cheryl Jordan and husband, Lawrence; three brothers, Joseph Bradby and wife, Evorah, Otis Brady and Keith Adkins; a devoted niece, Kelly Cotman; father-in-law, Lawrence Patterson Sr.; five sisters-in-law, Mary Lee, Ida Patterson, Maxine Grice, Patricia Knight and Clarice Frances; four brothers-in-law, Edward, Floyd, Charles and Ted Patterson; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Remains rest at J. Leroy Charity Funeral Home, Charles City. Homegoing services 1 p.m. Tuesday at Gilfield Baptist Church, Charles City. Rev. Vincent Smith officiating. Mrs. Patterson will not be viewed in church. Interment church cemetery.
