PERKINSON
Jeanette Ballance Perkinson, 78, of Dinwiddie died Saturday, April 21, 2001. She was the daughter of the late George and Ruth James Ballance and was the widow of Clifton Friend Perkinson Sr. She was a charter member of Walnut Hill Baptist Church and a current member of Lebanon United Methodist Church and a past member of the Petersburg Mt. Erin Garden Club. She is survived by two sons, Clifton Friend Perkinson Jr. and his wife, Teresa of Chester and George Alister Perkinson of Timberville; two daughters, Jeanette Perkinson Corley and her husband, John of Hampton and Barbara Perkinson Kaufman and her husband, Robert of Dinwiddie, 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Jacqueline Johnson and her husband, Johnnie of Williamsburg and Barbara Hill and her husband, R. Braxton of Norfolk; and a special cousin, Jamie Peake Cantwell of Charlottesville. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at 11 a.m. at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with interment to follow in Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday, April 23, 2001 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dinwiddie Rescue Squad or to Lebanon United Methodist Church.

PHILLIPS
Mrs. Alberta J. Phillips, 81, of Richmond, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001. She was the widow of Delbert D. Phillips and is survived by two daughters, Leah Ann Eckenroth and her husband, Tom, Judy Glazier and her husband, Richard; a son, Alan D. Phillips and his wife, Mary Ann; three grandchildren, Christopher D. and Michael Phillips, Jennifer Martin; two great-granddaughters, Kimberly and Victoria; a sister-in-law, Dortha Houchens; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Phillips was the founder and a loyal member of the McGuire Clinic Volunteer Program. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel mausoleum of Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 7809 Woodman Rd., Richmond, Va. 23228.

SATTERWHITE
Irvin Lee "Muff" Satterwhite, age 65, of Richmond, passed away after a courageous battle with Lou Gehrig's Disease on Thursday, April 19, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Frances C. Satterwhite; his children and their spouses, Wayne and Sandie Taylor of Mechanicsville, Cathi and Wayne Totty of Chesterfield, Rusty and Linda Brannan of New Kent, Linda and Keith Purcell of Rockville, Va.; also eight grandchildren; his sister, Mildred Hall of Beaverdam; and his little dog, Sasha. Mr. Satterwhite worked in the parts department at Bemiss Equipment Co. for 35 years, and then founded his own company, Satterwhite Tractor Parts Co. Inc., in 1989. He loved the parts business and had many, many friends. Remains rest Laburnum Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 2110 E. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Lou Gehrig, c/o the ALS Association, National Office, 27001 Agoura Rd., Suite 150, Calabasus Hills, Calif. 91301-5104.

SAVAGE
Nancy M. Savage born June 22, 1930, passed away April 21, 2001. She was the widow of Robert L. Savage. She was a retired registered nurse with 27 years of service at Johnston-Willis Hospital. She was a nursing graduate of Northampton-Accomack Memorial Hospital and the Medical College of Virginia. She was a resident of Richmond since 1966 and a native of the Eastern Shore of Virginia. She is survived by three children, Nancy Gwinn and her husband, Patrick of Chesterfield, Robert L. Savage Jr. and his wife, Christie of Machipongo, Va. and Barbara Rettig of Glen Allen; her son-in-law. H. Lee Rettig; eight grandchildren, Cara, Jennifer, Regan, Timothy, Aaron, and Joel Gwinn and Shannon and Grant Rettig; and one stepgranddaughter, Morgan Powell. Mrs. Savage was a deacon of Westover Baptist Church. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Westover Baptist Church. Interment Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

SEAWELL
Robert W. "Bobby" Seawell, age 58, died April 19, 2001. Bobby was a member of Providence Baptist Church. He retired from Bailey Amusement Center after many years of service. Also, He was preceded in death by his parents, W. Wilson and Gladys Sterling Seawell. Survivors include two daughters, Tammy Ingram and husband, Rusty, and Tracey Kellum and husband, Bryan; one sister, Frances S. Simmons and husband, Allen; three grandsons, Ryan and Wesley Kellum and Coleman Ingram; and a host of family and friends. Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Timothy B. Kirby, will be held Tuesday, 2 p.m. at the chapel of Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Interment will follow in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home, and all other times the family will be at his home, 6758 Fields Landing Rd. In Bobby's memory, memorial contributions may be made to Providence Baptist Church Building Fund, 3501 Providence Rd., Hayes, Va. 23072.

SILVER
Robert Richardson Silver, age 74, of 2616 Barton Ave., Richmond, died April 20, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Murlene G. Silver; two sons, Lonnie H. Silver (Claudette) of Richmond and William H. Silver of Bridgeport, Conn.; a daughter, Margaret Ann Thomas (Richard) of New Haven, Conn.; a faithful cousin, Magdalene Silver; a stepson, James F. Daniels; a stepdaughter, Anita P. Stoudmire; 11 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2001 at 2 p.m. in the afternoon at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 2737 Hungary Spring Rd.

SIMPSON
Sammie "Sam" Simpson of 1028 Greystone Ave., entered eternal rest April 18, 2001. He was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Simpson. Cherishing his memory are five daughters, Daisy Simpson and Sharon Williams of Washington, D.C., Sandra Cyrille, Karen Simpson and Barbara Jones; two sons, Richard and Michael Simpson; two sisters, Julia Williams of Charlotte, N.C., and Lula Sharpe of Sharon, S.C.; two daughters-in-law, Yvonne and Cynthia Simpson; one son-in-law, Rogeilo Cyrille; mother of the children, Margaret Simpson; 17 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, two devoted, Richard and Yvonne Simpson. The family will receive friends today 5 to 6 p.m. in the All Faiths Chapel of the A.D. Price Funeral Establishment, 212 E. Leigh St., where a Eulogistic service will be conducted Monday, 11 a.m. Rev. THRIFT
Thelma Hopwood Thrift of Richmond, widow of Douglas Bowcock Thrift, died Friday, April 20, 2001, after a long illness. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Thrift Winslow and son-in-law, Boyd H. Winslow; five grandchildren, Douglas, Emily, Caroline, George and Henry Winslow, all of Richmond; and her sister, Dorothy H. Hill of Williamsburg. Mrs. Thrift was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. Arrangements for a memorial service will be announced later. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a favorite charity. Arrangements by the Central Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home.

TURNER
Mr. Warren E. Turner, 89, of Emporia, died Friday, April 20, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Marie B. Turner; one daughter, Ethel T. Gordon and husband, Oscar; two sisters, Sally Marie Turner and Annie Wendell; four grandchildren, Donna Staton and husband, Danny, Robert Gordon, Linda Jenkins, David Gordon; and eight great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. Turner's daughter Sunday, 3 to 5 p.m. The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at Gardens of Emporia. Owen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

WILLIAMS
Entered into eternal rest April 18, 2001, Rosemarie Williams. She leaves to mourn her children whom she dearly loved, Lamarr, Shannon, Cedric and Teon Williams; devoted mother, Marilyn Williams; two brothers, Charles and Frederick Williams; two sisters, Tracey and Francine Williams; one niece, Iesha Williams; devoted friend and father of her children, Thomas Gill; great-uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Bournique; three aunts, two uncles; a host of other relatives and friends, one devoted, Mrs. Lola James. Remains rest at the Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Ave., where funeral services will be held on Monday, 12 noon, with Bishop Y.O. Benjamin officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery.

WOODLE
Edgar Louis Woodle of Richmond died Friday, April 20, 2001. Mr. Woodle was born in Bessemer City, N.C., in 1911. He came to Virginia in 1916 and has since been a resident of Richmond. His business career began at the Life Insurance Co. of Virginia and continued at Fenner and Bean Stock Brokers. In 1936, he became associated with Baker Equipment Engineering Co. where he became vice president, treasurer and director, and retired from Baker in 1983. He married Lola Katherine Hudgins in 1936. He was a member of the National Accountants Society, Fitzgerald Lodge No. 299 AF&AM, and was a 32nd degree Mason. He belonged to the Scottish Rite, Acca Temple Shrine, Virginia Orchid Society, and was a former member of the Hermitage Country Club. He was a member of Northminster Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school and served as a deacon and usher. He is survived by his wife, Katherine Hudgins Woodle; his daughter, Mrs. Donald Clarke of Savannah, Ga.; son, Edgar L. Woodle Jr.; grandson, Jason Boatwright Woodle; and granddaughter, Anne Tyson Woodle. The family will receive friends 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., where services will be conducted 12:30 p.m. Monday with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

ATKINSON
Vernelle Turner Atkinson died in Richmond Thursday, May 24, 2001. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, I. Lee Atkinson; her son, James W. Atkinson and his wife, Gail; her daughter, Sandra L. Atkinson; her brother, Forrest J. Turner; her sister, Alma T. Gates; her granddaughters, Dana Atkinson and Kelly Rowland. Mrs. Atkinson was retired from the Foreign Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends Saturday from 1 to 3 and from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Sunday from Chamberlayne Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m. Interment Signal Hill Memorial Park. The family requests that donations be made to the Hospice of Central Virginia, 7231 Forest Ave., Suite 100, Richmond, Va. 23226.

BALALLO
Elpidio Quitasol Balallo, 80, of Richmond, passed away May 25, 2001. He was preceded in death by his parents, Teodurico and Juana Balallo. He is survived by his wife, Cristina Balallo; and his children, Gloria Damasco and her husband, Honesto, Amante Balallo and his wife, Esperanza, Samson Balallo and his wife, Lourdes, Cesar Balallo and his wife, Larcy, and Gerry Balallo and his wife, Beth; two brothers, Benjamin and Cosme Balallo; grandchildren, Ione Tara Damasco, Arnell Damasco, Raymond Balallo, Maricris Balallo, Kareena Ashley Balallo, Christopher Justin Balallo, and Alexa Rae Balallo; great-grandchildren, Kellie Divine Grace Balallo and Alysa Balallo. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and Monday, and where a Christian Wake will be 7 p.m. Monday. A Mass of Resurrection will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church with interment to follow, Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

BARNES
Died May 25, 2001, Arthur Leon Barnes of Richmond. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Barnes; his daughters, Tenysha and Niesha Barnes; his mother, Elizabeth Barnes; also his sisters, Rita Durpree and Cheri Harmon. The family will receive friends 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., and where services will be held 5 p.m. Sunday.

BRADLEY
W. Edward Bradley of Richmond died May 24, 2001. He is survived by his daughters, Beth Bradley of Atlanta and Caroline Bradley of Richmond; son, Mark Bradley of Richmond; grandson, Caleb Wilson of Richmond. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends Sunday 4 to 6 p.m. Graveside services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in Hollywood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Henrico Humane Society.

BRILL
Jerline Talley Brill of Highland Springs died Thursday, May 24, 2001. She was predeceased by her husband, Roy Brill Jr. and is survived by many cousins and a host of devoted friends. Mrs. Brill was an employee with Liggett & Myers for many years and was a devoted member of New Bridge Baptist Church. Her remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, and where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the New Bridge Baptist Church Building Fund.

CHUMNEY
Nancy Smith Chumney, 84, of Richmond, widow of R. Douglas Chumney Sr., died May 23, 2001. She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Joan and Jim Gibson of Glen Allen; and a son and his wife, Richard and Vera Chumney of Mechanicsville; a brother and sister-in-law, Sonny and Peggy Smith of Sandston; four grandsons, Robert Gibson, Kirk, Craig and Marc Chumney; and three great-grandsons, Trent, Richard and Ryder Chumney. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

CROW
Chief Master Sgt. William H. Crow, USAF retired, age 80, died May 24, 2001, in Richmond, Va. Born March 9, 1921, in Pittsburgh, Pa., Mr. Crow entered the military service at age 18. He served in the China-Burma-India Campaign of WWII. He was stationed at Edwards Air Force Base in Muroc, Calif., from 1945 to 1954. He worked in the Air Force Flight Test Center on programs involving the XB-35 (The Flying Wing), the B36 and the X-1. He then served in the 86th Fighter Interceptor Wing in Landstuhl, Germany, and the 48th Fighter Interceptor Squadron (ADC) at Langley Air Force Base, Virginia, with tours in Korea and at the 328 Combat Support Group of Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base, Missouri. He received the Air Force Commendation Medal for outstanding achievement at Detachment One, 48th Fighter Interceptor Squadron, Byrd Field, Sandston, Va. After his retirement, Mr. Crow was employed locally by Havener Supply. Mr. Crow is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elsie; his six children, Barbara of Los Angeles, Bill, Donald and Joseph of Richmond, Mark of Rimini, Italy, Rebecca of Tacoma, Wash.; his sister, Mildred of Montebello, Calif.; and seven grandchildren. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a Christian Wake service at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial will be held in Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Patrick's Church.
