ZACHARY
A. Allen Zachary Jr., 74, of Richmond, widower of Jean Watson Zachary, died Wednesday, May 23, 2001. He is survived by his son, Arthur A. Zachary III and his wife, Tina T. Zachary of Suffolk; his daughter, Kimberly J. Zachary of Richmond; his grandson, A. Allen Zachary IV; and his sister, Helen Z. Moseley of Richmond. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Avenue, where the family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 26, in Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

ALLEN
William Charles Allen (Buddy) of Richmond passed away quietly at home on Wednesday, February 13, 2002. He was a loving and kind husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He is survived by his wife, Ceressa Allen; one daughter, Teresa Bass; one grandson, Haywood Todd Bass; one sister, Joan Boyd; and several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, and where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday. Interment Maury Cemetery.

BAKER
Caleb Michael "Spot" Baker of Richmond departed this life February 13, 2002. He is survived by his parents, Mack and Rose Baker and Sue Ellen Ashley Moss; three brothers; seven sisters. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday. Interment Maury Cemetery.

BANKS
Mrs. Polly Banks of 3600 Meadowbridge Rd. died February 11, 2002. Surviving are three daughters, Annie Marie Lewis, Mary Marsh and Polly Brown; three sons, John, William and Aubrey Banks; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Jane Johnson; one niece, Clara James; two daughters-in-law, Catherine and Bernice Banks; three sons-in-law, Russell Lewis, Nelson Marsh and Johnny Brown; other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 East Brookland Park Blvd., where funeral services will be held Saturday, 12 noon, Brother Thomas Smith officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery.

BARNES
Jeanne Meade Barnes of Roanoke died Thursday, February 14, 2002 at the residence of Jeanne Duncan. She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Barnes Sr.; and her daughter, Judy Bennett Spessard. She is survived by her son, John D. Barnes Jr. and his wife, Becky of Roanoke. She has four grandchildren, Stephanie Phillips, John and Erick Barnes and Brian Bennett. Jeanne has four great-grandchildren. She retired as head cashier at Sears & Roebuck.

BARTOS
Francis E. Bartos, 87, of West Point, Va., died Thursday, February 14, 2002. He was a WWII Army veteran and a retired United States Postal employee. Frances was a member of the West Point Country Club where he was an avid golfer. He was a member of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and VFW Post #8356. His parents, Joseph and Anna Bartos; and brother, Joseph J. Bartos Jr. preceded him in death. He is survived by a sister, Mary Condon of Mechanicsville; two brothers, William E. Bartos of West Point and John Bartos and his wife, Mildred of Mechanicsville; sister-in-law, Mildred D. Bartos of West Point; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. A Christian vigil will be held Sunday, 7 p. m. at Vincent Funeral Home, West Point, Va. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 207 W. Euclid Boulevard, West Point, Va. 23181.

BONNELL
Mary M. Bonnell, 45, of Richmond, died Tuesday, February 12, 2002. She was the daughter of the late Leonard A. and Marjorie C. Reid and is survived by her husband, H. Daniel Bonnell; son, Tim C. Bonnell; daughter, Marie D. Bonnell; two brothers, Dr. Edward Reid and Dr. Ronald Reid and wife, Carol; sister, Natalie Caine and husband, Malcolm; and many nieces and nephews. Her remains rest at Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and where funeral services will be held 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Mary was a resident of Richmond, but considered herself a Michigander at heart. She worked for the Henrico County School System and was a beloved teacher, friend, mother and wife. BROWN
Mrs. Elaine E. Brown departed this life Monday, February 11, 2002. She is survived by one daughter, Cora Shearn; five grandchildren, Dwight Shearn, Shelly Camm, Valendia Joseph, Tanisha Brown and Velma Simms; six great-grandchildren, sixteen great-great-grandchildren, three great-great-great grandchildren; five nieces, among them reared as a daughter, Barbara Ericsson; four nephews; devoted son-in-law, Edward Shearn; two daughters-in-law, a host of other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th. and Hull Streets where funeral services will be held Saturday, February 16, 12 p.m. Rev. Richard Wills Sr. officiating. Interment Riverview Cemetery. Relatives and friends attending funeral services assemble at the funeral home Saturday, 11:30 a.m.

BROWN
Paul L. Brown, age 89, of King William, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2002 at Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Christine; children, Joseph and PaulVin of Virginia Beach, LeRoy and Willie of Richmond, and Diann of Hollywood, Md.; daughter-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Viewing will be Saturday, February 16 at Third Union Baptist Church, King William, Va., beginning at 11 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m., Rev. W.D. Talley officiating. COOPER
Adele Rose Cooper, age 89, formerly of Niagra Falls, N.Y., died February 13, 2002 in a local hospital. She was predeceased by her husband, John E. Cooper. Survivors include a daughter, Shirley C. Dodge; son-in-law, Oliver; two grandchildren, Jeffrey M. Dodge and M. Therese Dodge, all of Richmond; one sister, Mrs. Anne Stempien of Niagra Falls, N.Y., and a host of nieces and nephews. A private family service will be held Friday, February 15.

CUNNINGHAM
Mattie Taylor Cunningham, 69, of Richmond, departed this life Wednesday, February 13, 2002. She leaves her husband of 51 years, Frank; her daughter, JoAnn Crews and her husband, John of Highland Springs; beloved cats, Socks, Midnite and Puff; sister-in-law, Wanda K. Taylor of Richmond; her dear friends, John and Marilyn Chapman, Mike and Wanda Hendrick, Freddie, Michele and Amber Browning, all of Highland Springs, Liesel Pusey of Mechanicsville, Jean Powell of Sandston; nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous friends and the Friday Night Leisure Group at Roma's. "To those that loved me, I did not fall. I only succumbed to a higher call. Do not mourn me. I am with you still, and I will be with you always from now until." The family will receive friends at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. on Friday from 2 to 4 ad 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Lucille Melton Cusic, 90, of Richmond, died Thursday, February 14, 2002. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Helen Melton; a brother, Eugene L. Melton; three grandchildren, Douglas Melton, Diane Foran and Debra Sue Willis; five great-grandchildren, Chad, Jeb, Erin and Cally Melton and Amber Colson. Her remains rest at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, and where services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday. DAHLKE
H. Otto Dahlke, who died on November 27, 2001, will be remembered at a memorial service to be held on Saturday, February 16, 2002 at 2 p.m. at the Richmond Friends Meeting, Kensington and Commonwealth.

DUCK
Geraldine Easter Duck, 78, of Highland Springs, went to be with the Lord Thursday, February 14, 2002. She was the widow of Melton A. Duck and is survived by her daughter, Pat Segan and her special friend, Teenie Dowdy of Ruckersville; her three grandchildren, Rodney Deane and his wife, Melissa of Providence Forge, Shelly Gormes and her husband, Danny of Barboursville and Robin Wharton and her husband, Johnny of Madison; two great-grandchildren, Allen Wharton and Whitney Gormes; her sister, Marjorie Harlow; her brother, Carroll Satchfield of Memphis, Tenn.; and her granddogs, Duke and Brandy. Mrs. Duck was a member of Oak Hall Baptist Church and was retired from the American Tobacco Company. The family will receive friends at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 South Laburnum Ave., from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday and from 4 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, and where funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday. William L. Fornwald, who is survived by Ruth Smithers Fornwald and William S. Smithers Jr., died January 17, 2002. He will be remembered at a memorial service on Saturday, February 16 at 10 a.m. at Gayton Road Christian Church, 12050 Ridgefield Parkway, Richmond.

GARONE
Gertrude M. Garone, age 84, of Richmond, died February 13, 2002. She is survived by her son, David Scampone and his wife, Bonnie of Centreville, Va.; daughter, Linda Wilson and her husband, Pete; son, Joseph Garone III and his wife, Cindy; two sisters, Leona Romaine and Margaret Grammer, both of Chesterfield; one brother, Wayne Denson of New York; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

GIBBS
William Taylor Gibbs, age 69, of Burkeville, died Thursday, February 14, 2002. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia W. Gibbs; and a brother, Allen Wayne Gibbs. He is survived by his children, Gary Wade Gibbs, Jeffrey Dean Gibbs, Joanne Gibbs Armes, all of Burkeville; six grandchildren, Heather, Brittany and Cameron Gibbs, Emily Gibbs, Adrienne Armes and Stuart Armes IV; two brothers, Robert Earl Gibbs of Burkeville and Larry Habel Gibbs of Blackstone. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. at the Jennings-McMillian Chapel, Crewe with the Rev. J. Clyde Shelton and the Rev. Kevin Wirt officiating. Interment Trinity Memorial Gardens, Rice. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Burkeville Volunteer Fire Dept. First Responders or Nottoway Co. Emergency Squad.

GREEN
Lydia Lee Weeks Green died at her home in Mechanicsville on Tuesday, February 12, 2002 of complications from a rare neuro-degenerative disease, corticobasal ganglionic degeneration. Mrs. Green, under the name "Lydia Lee," was an author of eight romance novels, both historical and contemporary. She had been active in the Romance Writers Association and served on the Board of Directors of the Washington Romance Writers Chapter. Mrs. Green relocated to the Richmond area, where she has long-standing family ties, in 1990. A native of Washington, D.C., she graduated from the Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School and attended Georgetown University before enrolling in the Dallas Theater Center in Dallas, Texas. Her work at the Dallas Theater Center as an actress, designer and director earned her the coveted "Greer Garson Theater Arts Award." She also worked in regional theater in Albuquerque, N.M. Mrs. Green is survived by her husband, Osborne Timberlake Green; four children, Jonathan, Jason, Jessica and Juliane Green, all of Mechanicsville; a brother, Joseph Preble Weeks of Manakin; and a sister, Anne Weeks Hancock of Arlington. Friends may call at the Reid Funeral Home, 412 South Washington Hwy., Ashland, on Saturday morning from 9 to 11 a.m. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church (St. Joseph's Villa), with burial in Hollywood Cemetery. Dallas M. Gregory, 82, of Richmond, died February 14, 2002. He was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Saunders Gregory; son, Dallas Christopher Gregory and his wife, Lori; three granddaughters, Shelby, Morgan and Opel Pritchett; one sister, Gladys Allgood of South Hill; and numerous nieces and nephews. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, and where services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2002. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in Kenbridge Heights Cemetery, Kenbridge, Va.
