John Robert Word, age 74, died Thursday, February 14, 2002. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn C. Word. Survivors include a daughter, Wanda W. Lambert and her husband, Warren; a son, Robert W. Word and his wife, Joan; a sister, Margaret Wooten; a sister-in-law, Eileen Reynolds; three grandchildren, Greg and Chris Lambert and Ashley Word; and two nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 West Broad St. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 16, 2002 at Skipwith United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Skipwith United Methodist Church.

ZIMMERMAN
Edythe Hurst Zimmerman, 84, of Chesterfield, died Wednesday, February 13, 2002 in St. Mary's Hospital. She was a retired registered nurse with McGuire Veterans Hospital and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Adams and her husband, Will Adams of Chesterfield and Kathryn Craighurst of Charlottesville; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Claire Adams of Chesterfield and Anna Laura Craighurst of Charlottesville; and a nephew, John Michael Vann of Highland Springs. She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorcas Hurst Vann and her husband, Moody Brooks Vann. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 3801 Beulah Rd. Burial will follow at 3:30 p.m. in Newville United Methodist Church Cemetery, Prince George. The family will receive friends at the Chesterfield Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church or Bensley-Bermuda Volunteer Rescue Squad.

ADCOCK
Irvin Jordan "Irby" Adcock Jr., age 58, of Freeman, Va., died January 31, 2001. He is survived by two sons, Christopher Scott Adcock of Brodnax and Robert Lee Adcock II of Bracey; one grandson, Christopher Scott "C.J." Adcock Jr.; three sisters, Layne A. Cullen of Nutley, N.J., Carolyn A. Harris of Richmond and Sandra A. Taylor of Freeman; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home, Lawrenceville, where funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday. Interment in Oakwood Cemetery, Lawrenceville, Va.

BIEROWSKI
Joseph Edward Bierowski Sr., devoted husband and father, passed away January 30, 2001, at his daughter and son-in-law's home in Kents Store, Va. Mr. Bierowski was preceded in death this week by his sister, Dorothy Feifer of Mount Carmel, Pa. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Margaret Mary Strocko Bierowski. His family includes four sons and their families, Tom and Linda Bierowski of Midlothian, Va., John and Carolyn Bierowski of Chesterfield, Va., Jim and Betsey Bierowski of St. Croix, USVI, Joe and Aimee Bierowski of Orange, Conn.; three daughters and their families, Judy Dickerson of Richmond, Va., Jody and Gillie Jenkins of Kents Store, Va., Ann and Mike Draper of Glen Allen, Va.; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; as well as his canine companions, Gracie and Nellie. Mr. Bierowski was born in 1917 in Mount Carmel, Pa. He is survived by two brothers and their families, Robert Bierowski of Elysburg, Pa., Jim Bierowski of Mount Carmel, Pa.; and a sister, Anna Maloch of Elysburg, Pa.; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Bierowski retired as purchasing agent for Stone & Webster Engineering Corporation after 34 years of service. He was a founding member of Catholic Church of the Epiphany in 1979 and served as a volunteer staff member for 21 years. His warm heart and hugs will be missed. His remains rest at Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Road, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, February 1. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at Catholic Church of the Epiphany, 11000 Smoketree Drive at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 2. Burial at Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1490 Pantops Mountain Place, Suite 200, Charlottesville, Va. 22911.

CAMP
David Camp Sr. of Goochland departed this life January 30, 2001, at Capitol Medical Center. He is survived by his devoted wife, Catherine Camp; four children, Antonie, Tamicka, David Jr. and Shanell Camp; stepdaughter, Angela Bailey; two grandchildren; his mother, Hilda Camp; three brothers, Robert Junior III, Lawrence and Carl Camp; two sisters, Delois and Bertha Jackson; grandmother, Tincy Green; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Ave., where family will receive friends Friday (tonight) from 6 until 7 p.m., and where funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, 2 p.m. Interment Oakwood Cemetery.

CLEMENTS
Preston Underwood Clements, 95, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 31, 2001. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Osborne Clements; two sons, James P. Clements and wife, Cory of Fredericksburg, Va., and Thomas E. Clements of Virginia Beach, Va.; six granddaughters, Cara, Blair, Challey and Morgan Clements, Bree and Hillary Detamore; one nephew, James Carter and wife, Virginia; one niece, Shirley Godschalk and husband, Ronnie, all of Richmond. He was a devoted member of New Covenant Baptist Church and a retired employee of Seaboard Coastline Railroad with 50 years of service; also retired from Pinkerton Security with 20 years service. His remains rest at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., where family will receive friends 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, February 2, and where services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday. Interment Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to New Covenant Baptist Church Building Fund, 7250 Patterson Ave., Richmond, Va. 23229 or charity of donor's choice.

COBBS
Mary Adeline Cobbs, 80, of Blackstone, Va., died February 1, 2001. Her sister, Gaynell Cobbs Denson; and brother, Richard Wilbur Cobbs Jr. of Blackstone, Va., preceded her in death. She is survived by one nephew, Richard Waddell Cobbs of Blackstone; one great-nephew, Richard Waddell Cobbs Jr. of Charlotte, N.C.; and two great-nieces, Katherine Randolph Cobbs of Atlanta, Ga. and Virginia Courtney Cobbs of Blackstone, Va. She worked for the U.S. Government for over 30 years, with a four-year tenure in Japan. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at her home. Memorial services will be at Crenshaw United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2001. Donations can be made to Friends of the Library and to the Building Fund of the Crenshaw United Methodist Church.

COOKE
Rev. Jesse W. Cooke Jr. of Richmond went to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 30, 2001. He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Sara Killian Cooke; his son, Coleman W. Cooke and his wife, Linda P. Cooke of Sandston, Va.; his daughter, Christine Cooke Darg and her husband, Peter A. Darg; and two grandsons, David Darg and Daniel Darg of Hereford, England. Rev. Cooke pastored Glenwood Park Presbyterian Church in Norfolk, Va., for 20 years. He honorably retired from Fairfield Presbyterian Church in 1982, served as associate pastor at Third Presbyterian Church and was a retired veteran of World War II. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Avenue, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 2. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 3, at 10:30 a.m. at Third Presbyterian Church. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Fairfield Presbyterian Church, Third Presbyterian Church, or a mission of your choice.

Departed this life January 26, 2001, Mary E. Crittenton. She is survived by her devoted husband, Jesse Crittenton; two sisters, Edith Johnson and Ethel Holt; other relatives and friends. Professional services provided by Chiles Funeral Home.

Sue A. Evans, 55, of Richmond, died Wednesday, January 31, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Charles W. Evans; two sons, Kris Evans and Sean Evans; one daughter, Melissa Evans; her mother-in-law, Alta Evans; four brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law; one sister, Anita Ferguson of Lexington, Ky.; one brother, Gary Douglas and his wife, Ann of Chesapeake, Ohio; and three grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, Friday, February 2, from 6 until 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Westhampton Memorial Park. GALLOWAY
James McInnes Galloway Jr. (Jim), 59, of Vermont, formerly of Charles City and Richmond, died peacefully Wednesday, January 31, 2001. He is survived by his sister, Ann Galloway Tucker and her husband, Robert; a nephew, Stephen Kent Tucker; a niece, Stephanie Ann Tucker; and a great-nephew, Mason Bowman, all of Richmond; also an uncle, several cousins, and numerous devoted friends in New Kent, Charles City, Williamsburg, Newport News, Arlington, Salvo, N.C., and Vermont. The family will receive friends 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., where services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday with interment in Hollywood Cemetery.

Jesse Lynn Godwin, 80, of Mechanicsville, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2001. He is survived by his sister, Stella Godwin Griffith; a niece, C. Marie Crawford and her husband, Wesley; three great-nieces, a great-nephew, nine great-great-nieces and nephews; two great-aunts, Zilla Murdoch of Richmond and Mildred Averett of Raleigh, N.C.
