BUCHANAN
Elizabeth Tignor Buchanan, 87, of Richmond, widow of Garland A. Buchanan, died Tuesday, September 12, 2000. She is survived by her son, Garland A. Buchanan Jr. of Richmond; grandson, Steven B. Buchanan of Ashburn; granddaughter, Karen B. Walton of Glen Allen; five great-grandchildren, Derek P. Walton, Amanda E. Walton, Taylor C. Buchanan, Erin G. Buchanan and S. Keith Buchanan; and two sisters, Naomi T. Parks and Margaret T. Ihlenfeld, both of Richmond. Mrs. Buchanan was retired from the C&P Telephone Co. Remains rest at the West Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 14. Interment in Oakwood Cemetery.

CHAPMAN
Charles Dean Chapman, 31, of Chester, departed this life September 11, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Chapman; three stepchildren, Stacey, Jessica and Charles Adams; his parents, Stanley and Carolyn Chapman; a brother, Tony Chapman; two sisters, Holly and Debra Allen; and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Allen; stepsister, Joan Powers; a nephew, Cole Allen; and grandmother, Ida Benson; and a lifetime friend, Smudge. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home’s Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends Wednesday, 6 to 8 p.m., and where funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Thursday. Cremation to follow.

CHILDREY
William A. Childrey, 74, of Newport News, died September 10, 2000. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII, retired material processor for the Newport News Shipyard, and former manager of Mantua Farm, Heathsville. Surviving are his wife, Henrietta Childrey; sister, Margaret Penzoil. Funeral services 2 p.m. Thursday at Oakland United Methodist Church, Farnham. Interment in the church cemetery. Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Jones-Ash Funeral Home, Rainswood.

DeWITT
Max G. DeWitt, 76, of Richmond, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2000. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Christine DeWitt; brothers, Mark, John, Michael, Billy and Jimmy DeWitt; and sister, Ruth Hoy. He is survived by his wife, JoAnne (Jo) DeWitt; sisters, Jody O’Mera and her husband, Pat, Mary Praga and her husband, Butch and Chris Sheridan; brother, Robert DeWitt and his wife, Roxanne; sisters-in-law, Betty Fairchild and Jackie Nappier and her husband, Andy; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home’s Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Friday in St. Augustine’s Catholic Church. Interment Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

GASKINS
Marguerite Phillips Gaskins, 82, of Richmond, widow of Melvin Burgess Gaskins, passed away Monday, September 11, 2000. She is survived by a daughter and her spouse, Suzanne G. and Thomas Alan Verbeke; two grandchildren, Brandon Scott Verbeke and Jennifer Kristen Verbeke; three nieces, one nephew; and a sister-in-law, Alice Gaskins of Oklahoma City, Okla. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and where a service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday with interment to follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Emmaus Christian Church, 1801 Huguenot Trail, Powhatan, Va. 23139.

Phyllis Gray of Chesterfield died September 11, 2000. She is survived by her husband, Robert Gray; sons, Paul Suggs, Ralph Suggs and wife, Glenda, and Marion Martin; a daughter, Nancy Shiflett and Danny; grandchildren, Monica, Pam, Samantha, Sheri, Lee and Brittany; and one great-grandchild, Adam. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home’s Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday. GULLER
Mr. Julius Jack Guller, 80, devoted husband, father and grandfather, passed away September 11, 2000. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mildred Guller; two sons, Mark Guller and Harold Guller; daughter-in-law, Julianne Guller; and a grandson, Paul Guller. He graduated from Petersburg High School in 1938. Mr. Guller was a retired civil service employee with 30 years of service, and retired from Bon Secours with 29 years of service. He was a member of Beth El Synagogue. Mr. Guller was a frequent contributor to the Times-Dispatch editor and was selected as Correspondent of the Day. He was a member of the Jewish Community Center, Grand Group and Grand Tones. Graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday (today) at B’nai Shalom Cemetery in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

HARGROVE
Mrs. Dorothy Draper Hargrove of Midlothian, Va., departed this life Friday, September 8, 2000. She is survived by one daughter, Rochelle D. Hargrove; one son, Floyd T. Hargrove; one granddaughter, Tierra M. Duncan; her mother, Dorothy Miller Draper; one sister, Thomasine Draper Fox; seven aunts; three uncles; one daughter-in-law, Janice Hargrove; one brother-in-law, James R. Fox; one niece, Tamara Fox; several counsins, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th & Hull Sts. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 14, 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Midlothian, Rev. Warren Massenburg, Pastor, officiating. Interment in the church cemetery. After 1 p.m. Thursday, remains will rest in the above named church until hour of service. Mrs. Dorothy Mae Harrison of Richmond departed this life Sunday, September 10, 2000. She is survived by two sons, Edward Jr. and Robert L. Harrison; 11 grandchildren, among them devoted, Yvonne and Melvin Poag and Yolanda Harrison; one daughter-in-law, Carolyn Harrison; one sister-in-law; two brothers-in-law, Robert and Samuel Harrison; other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th & Hull Sts., where funeral services will be held Thursday, September 14, 12 p.m., Pastor Leroy Conner officiating. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery. HENDERSON
Mr. Robert Neal Henderson of Halifax, Va., died September 11, 2000. He was born in Halifax County, Va., on May 22, 1919 and was 81 years old. He was the son of Mr. William K. Henderson and Mrs. Annie Hastings Henderson and was married to Nancy Norman Henderson. He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, VFW, American Legion, the Shriners and was a veteran of World War II. Mr. Robert Neal Henderson is survived by his wife, Nancy N. Henderson of Halifax; three sons, Robert Henderson Jr. of Oxford, N.C., Billy Henderson of Halifax, Gary Henderson of Gladys; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lawrence Henderson of Halifax, William Henderson of Burlington, N.C.; one sister, Helen Brahe of Halifax. He was preceded in death by one son, Charles Henderson. Graveside services for Mr. Robert Neal Henderson will be held Thursday, September 14, 2000, at St. John’s Episcopal Church Cemetery at 2 p.m. with Father David Booher conducting the service. Family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home Wednesday from 7 until 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home of Billy and Pat Henderson, 1016 Woodgrove Trail, Halifax. Mrs. Edna Hare Hicks, 70, of Prince George, passed away on September 11, 2000. She was the widow of Norbert S. Hicks Sr. and was the daughter of Roan A. and Minnie T. Hare. She is survived by her brother, Dennis R. Hare of Colonial Heights; four nieces, seven nephews and four stepchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Bliley Funeral Home’s Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave. Graveside services will be held Thursday 12 noon in Washington Memorial Park, Sandston.

Mrs. Lois Alfriend Jones, age 80, of Richmond, died Tuesday, September 12, 2000. She was the widow of James Matthew Jones Sr. and predeceased by one sister, Carolyn A. Kirby. She is survived by two sons, James M. Jones Jr. and wife, Evelyn, and Carl G. Jones, both of Richmond; one sister, Phyllis A. Taylor and husband, Preston of Richmond; two grandsons and their families. Mrs. Jones was a retired employee of Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Virginia. A memorial service will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday at Northminster Baptist Church. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tuckahoe Vol. Rescue Squad or Northminster Baptist Church. Service arrangements handled by Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home.

Shirley Mae Kaiser, 65, of Colonial Heights, died Monday, September 11, 2000 at John Randolph Medical Center, Hopewell. A native of Richmond, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Verna Mae Wood Sprouse. She is survived by her husband, Roy P. Kaiser; six children, Steve P. Kaiser and wife, Maria, Danny L. Kaiser and wife, Linda, Rhonda K. Burcham and husband, Mark and Sandra K. Newcomb and husband, Chuck, all of Colonial Heights, Pam K. Fox and husband, Mark and Scott A. Kaiser and wife, Naomi, all of Dinwiddie; nine grandchildren, Tripp and Sara Newcomb, Katie Burcham, Lauren and Lexie Kaiser, Meagen and Morgan Fox, Jennifer Kaiser, and Seth Hicks; a brother, Wesley Sprouse of Henrico, also several cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, September 14, 2000 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights with Monsignor Robert Perkins officiating. LIVINGSTON
Thomas Leroy Livingston, born October 31, 1925, departed this life after a long illness on September 9, 2000. He is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Elsie; two loving children, Gail and Ronald; mourned by many loving cousins and friends. At the requests of Mr. Livingston, his remains were donated to the Medical College of Virginia as an anatomical gift. A memorial and tree dedication will be held at the Roslyn Center of Virginia, 8727 River Rd., Richmond, Va. at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2000. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, please sign an organ donor card.
