Ada M. Steele
Ada Martin Steele, 85, of 162 Krontz Drive, Bassett, and formerly of 102 Roselawn Heights, Martinsville, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2006, at her home.
She was born in Sandy Ridge, N.C., on April 13, 1920, to Jacob V. Martin and Ella M. Martin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Steele; five sisters, Lola M. Hall, Nealie M. Corns, Jessie M. Francis, Laura M. McBrayer, Maggie M. Durham and Lovie Martin; and two brothers, Richard "Dick" Martin and Paul J. Martin.
She retired from Sale Knitting Co. and from Tultex. She attended Wilson Street Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving are two sisters, Frances Biggs of Stuart and Mary Lou McMillan of Martinsville.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Norris Funeral Services chapel. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park.
Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time for the funeral.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2 Hanover Square, Suite 1600, Raleigh, N.C. 27601.

Frances E. Wilbourne
A graveside service for Frances Elizabeth "Beth" Wilbourne, 59, of Halifax, who died Jan. 7, 2006, at Lynchburg General Hospital, will be held at 3 p.m. today at Mountain View Cemetery at Ridgeway. The Rev. Doug Gibson will officiate.
She was born in Martinsville on Jan. 16, 1946, to Paul Pulliam of Martinsville and Edna Nolen Pulliam, deceased.
She was a social services case worker and a member of Dan River Baptist Church in Halifax.
In addition to her father, surviving are three sisters, Bonnie Pulliam of Roanoke, Cathy Clark of West End, N.C. and Glenda Pulliam of Hampton.
Memorials may be made to the American Stroke Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, Va. 23060, or Dan River Baptist Church, Dan River Church Road, Halifax, Va. 34588.
Norris Funeral Services and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Alva L. Williams
The funeral for Alva Lee Williams, 100, who died Jan. 6, 2006, at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center, Martinsville, was held Monday at Community Funeral Service chapel in Ridgeway. The Revs. Mike Shelton and Jim Law officiated. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park.
Pallbearers were Bryan Patterson, Clarence Robertson, Jay Souther, Melvin Durham, Robert Collier and Shirley Johnson.

Ida F. Wishnevsky
The funeral for Ida Frances Wishnevsky, 86, of Martinsville, who died Jan. 7, 2006, was held Monday at Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Leroy Holley officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park.
Pallbearers were Derrick Wood, Gray Phillips, Kenny Boardwine, Chris Boardwine, Len Spencer, Benny Lea, Selby Lea and Jim Phillips.

Floyd Baugus
Floyd Baugus, 68, of 304 Trinity Terrace, Martinsville, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
Norris Funeral Services will announce arrangements.

Ella J. Cannaday
The funeral for Ella Jefferson Cannaday, 95, of Martinsville, who died Jan. 7, 2006, was held Tuesday at Norris Funeral Services with the Rev. Gary Edwards officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park.
Pallbearers were Gene Via, Johnny Via, James Hobson, Ricky Chitwood, Joey Brown, Lynwood Cannaday, Edwin France and Harold Brown.

Christine M. Fain
Christine M. Fain, 79, of Bassett, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006, at her home.
She was born in Henry County on April 18, 1926, to Walter Lee Manning and Dolly Craig Manning. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Hattie Mae France.
She was a member of the First Assembly of God.
Surviving are her husband, Lee L. Fain of the home; three sons, Joe Lee "J.L." Fain of Texas, Doug Wayne Fain of Bassett and Tim Leon Fain of Collinsville; two daughters, Pat Fain Nolen of Collinsville and Linda Darlene Gilley of Bassett; two brothers, Curtis Lee Manning and Herbert W. "Hut" Manning, both of Bassett; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Bassett Funeral Service.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Alvin "Joe" Nunley officiating. Burial will be in Henry Memorial Park.

Darryl W. Lackey
The funeral for Darryl Wayne Lackey, 57, of Collinsville, who died Jan. 7, 2006, was held Tuesday at Stone Memorial Christian Church in Collinsville. Ministers Lawrence Harris and Tim Wood officiated. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park with military honors conducted by the Martinsville-Henry County Veterans Honor Guard.
Pallbearers were Robert Lackey, Paul Lackey, Robert Martin, Jimmy Lackey, Bill Peters and Larry Lackey.
McKee-Stone Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.

Emma B. Miller
The funeral for Emma Barlett Miller, 91, of Martinsville, who die Jan. 6, 2006, was held Tuesday at Norris Funeral Services with Evangelist Jack Nunn officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Ashby, Ryan Stultz, James Cole, Charley Walls, Billy Payne, Jack Stultz Sr., Megan Stultz, Cassie Stultz, Lakin Meeks and Bo Meeks.

Oscar G. Rigney
Oscar Giles Rigney, 92, of 1116 Listening Hill Road, Penhook, and formerly of 606 Watt St., Martinsville, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006, at Roanoke Carilion Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Franklin County on April 4, 1913, to Willie Lee Rigney and Della Lee Divers Rigney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eula Williams Rigney; and three brothers, Luther Lee Rigney, Alonza Rigney and Cecil Rigney.
He served in the Army during World War II and retired as a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of American Legion Pannill Post 42 and a member of McCabe Memorial Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Shirley Rigney Short of Vinton and Shelia Rigney Gay of Bedford County; two sons, Roger G. Rigney of Salem and Donald Neal Rigney of Franklin County; four sisters, Elsie Rigney Tuck of Rocky Mount, Gladys Rigney Scott and Ora Rigney Davidson, both of Penhook, and Mamie Rigney Brogan of Roanoke; a stepsister, Odessa Shelton of Hurt; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Norris Funeral Services chapel with the Rev. Lewis Harris officiating. Burial will be in the Rigney family cemetery in Penhook.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at the home of Linda and Allen Willie, 163 Museville Road, Penhook.
Memorials may be made to the Cool Branch Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 50, Penhook, Va. 24137.

Virginia J. Stump
The funeral for Virginia J. Stump, 60, of Fieldale, who died Jan. 6, 2006, was held Tuesday at Bassett Funeral Services with Pastor Jerry Blevins and the Rev. Allen Dawson officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park.
Pallbearers were Arnie Hedrick, Daniel O'Dell, Danny Sage, Ranny Sage, Brad Feury, Kenny Robertson, Jeff Bryson and Dwayne Daniel.

Roy L. White
WAYNESVILLE, N.C. -- The funeral for Roy Lance White, 91, of Waynesville, who died Jan. 7, 2006, was held Tuesday at Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home. The Rev. J.D. Harmon officiated. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park. Pallbearers were Conrad Sutton, Tony Thrower, Brett White, Kyle White, Henry Carter and Trevor Johnson.
