Willard A. Arnold
The funeral for Willard Andrew Arnold, 82, of Ridgeway, who died Jan. 8, 2006, was held Wednesday at Horsepasture Christian Church with Minister David Cuthbertson officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Wood, Delano Wood, Duane Grogan, Gary Daniels, Steve Mears and Michael Pless.
Norris Funeral Services and Crematory was in charge of arrangements.

Carolyn F. Eggleston
Carolyn Fulcher Eggleston, 80, of 270 Meadow Lane, Collinsville, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2006, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Allen "J.A." Eggleston, who died in 1986.
Collins Funeral Services in Bassett will announce arrangements.

Verlie J. Hall
The funeral for Verlie Joyce Hall, 98, formerly of Reed Creek Drive, Bassett, who died Jan. 9, 2006, was held Wednesday at Collins Funeral Services in Bassett with the Rev. Richard Hanks officiating. Burial was in Old Center Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Yancey Arendall, Mike Belton, Clyde Lawson, Jim Philpott, Ron Pigg, Tommy Rakestraw, Darryle Shively and Wayne Eanes.

Tommy F. Hickman
MADISON, N.C. -- Tommy Floyd Hickman, 51, of 220 Eagle Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006, at Presbyterian Hospital in Huntersville.
He was born in Rockingham County on May 26, 1954, to James Jesse Hickman and Magaline "Maggie" Goins Hickman of Stoneville. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James Hickman, Junior Hickman and Daryl Hickman; and a sister, Loretta Lynn Hickman.
He was a logger and a former truck driver.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Carolyn Cardwell Hickman; two stepdaughters, Tammy Hodge and Brandee Reynolds, both of Ridgeway, Va.; two brothers, Melvin Hickman of Sandy Ridge and Gene Hickman of Stoneville; four sisters, Anna Nance, Juanita Joyce, Maxine Nance and Eunice Goins, all of Sandy Ridge.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Victory Hill Pentecostal Holiness Church with Jonathan Goins and the Rev. Bennett Shelton officiating. Burial will be in Harris Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Colonial Funeral Home, 127 Ellisboro Road, Madison, and other times at the home.

Steven C. McDaniel
The funeral for Steven Craig McDaniel, 45, of Sedgefield Drive, Martinsville, who died Jan. 8, 2006, was held Wednesday at Pallbearers were David Perdue, Sam Truesdell, Keith Holland, Doug Mosley, Timmy Keatts, Billy Keatts and Tim Nunley.

Alonzo Redd
SALISBURY, N.C. -- Alonzo Redd, 94, of 607 Kerr St., died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006, at Rowan Regency Hospital in Salisbury.
He was born in Henry County, Va., on July 10, 1911, to Phil Redd and Laura Whittico Redd. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Jane Redd of the home; a son, Richard Redd of Salisbury; and several nieces and nephews who reside in Martinsville and Henry County.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home chapel, 223 E. Fisher St., Salisbury. The Rev. Maurry Edwards will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Salisbury.
The family will receive friends for one half hour before the funeral and other times at the home.

Margarete C. Service
Margarete C. Service, 78, of Meadows of Dan and formerly of Portsmouth, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006, at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart.
She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on Jan. 26, 1927, to Albert Garrett Corlett and Antoinette Florence Kirchner Corlett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Corlett.
She retired as a registered nurse, was a member of VFW Post 8467 Ladies Auxiliary in Meadows of Dan and was of the Presbyterian faith.
Surviving are her husband, Michael Joseph Service of the Blue Ridge Nursing Center; two daughters, Laurel Wilson of Portsmouth and Leslie Gayle of Newport News; three sons, Tim Service of Meadows of Dan, Chris Service of Portsmouth and Matthew Service of Freinsheim, Germany; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with the Rev. Bucky Hunsicker officiating. Burial will be in the Knowles-Eden Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Ada M. Steele
The funeral for Ada Martin Steele, 85, of Martinsville, who died Jan. 9, 2006, was held Wednesday at Norris Funeral Services with the Rev. Terry Knighten officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park.
Pallbearers were Tim Harrell, Phillip McMillan and Mike Kahle.

Geraldine Venn
Geraldin Venn, 83, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2006, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home will announce arrangements.

Floyd J. Baugus
The funeral for Floyd Junior "Doc" Baugus, 68, of Martinsville, who died Jan. 10, 2006, was held Thursday at Norris Funeral Services with Dr. David Adkins officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park.
Pallbearers were Cameron Routh, Zachary Routh, Ernie Baggarly, Michael Clark, Steven Ingram, Junior Burnette, Dale Linn, Cliff Saul and Stoneman Lawless.

Stella R. Beasley
Stella Rogers Beasley, 88, of Claudville, died Jan. 11, 2006, at Northern Hospital of Surry County in Mount Airy, N.C.
She was born in Stokes County on May 4, 1917, to Andy Rogers and Mattie Nunn Rogers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Beasley; and two brothers, Carl Rogers and Tom Rogers.
She retired from Bassett-Walker Industries and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church for more than 30 years.
Surviving are a daughter, Rebecca McCann of Claudville; a son, John Beasley of Claudville; three grandchildren; a step-grandchild; two step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dewey Rogers of the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart, Va., and Junior Rogers of Collinstown; and a sister, Nellie Martin of Asbury.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry Whitlow and Dr. Craig Edwards officiating. Burial will be in the Robert L. Beasley Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the church.
Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is in charge of arrangements.
