Gail V. Evans

Gail V. Evans, 37, died March 11 at Loudoun Hospital Center.

She as born Feb. 10, 1967 to Billy Joe and Gloria Mc Williams Evans of Sterling. She was the sister of Gloria Jean Steinebach of Manassas, Robert Evans of Sterling and Michael Evans of Rixeyville.

Funeral services were held March 15 at Adams- Green Funeral Home in Herndon, with interment at National Memorial Park in Falls Church. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Virginia Division, Inc., Northern Virginia Area, 124 Park St. SE, P.O. Box 699, Vienna, Va. 22180.

Kenneth Stirsman

Kenneth Stirsman, 78, of Novi, Mich. died recently of a stroke.

He retired from Ford Motor Company after 35 years. A was a native of Madisonville, Ky.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie; ten brothers and sisters, three sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Area survivors include two granddaughters, Patricia S. Carr and Christine Stirsman, and great-grandson C. Andrew Carr, all of Sterling. Christopher Markwood of Sterling served as a pallbearer.

Interment was March 15 at Parkview Cemetery in Livonia, Mich. Family and friends gathered at the UAW Local 182.

Norman W. Littlejohn

Norman W. Littlejohn, 66 (retired Lt. Col. US Army and Federal Government retiree), died March 23 following a cerebral hemorrhage while vacationing with Kathryn, his wife of 45 years, in San Diego, Cal..

Born in Washington, D.C.. he was the son of the late William and Mildred Littlejohn and was preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie Clements, brother Bill, and sister Mildred Atwell.

A 1959 graduate of the University of Virginia, he was commissioned in the U.S. Army and served in both the Artillery and military Intelligence branches with tours of duty in Korea, Germany, Viet Nam, and the US. His Federal service was with the Federal Maritime Commission, retiring in 1997 from the Senior Executive Service to relocate to Charlottesville as home.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Norm, Jr., and Mark, two daughters, Karen and Kathy and sons-in-law Mike Albert, Mark Thomas and Bob Clements and grandchildren Katie, Emily, Mike, Makaely, Olivia, Kylie and nieces and nephews.

He was an avid UVA sports fan, a man of faith and loved to travel. A funeral Mass will be offered on Monday April 5 at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. A graveside funeral service will be scheduled at Arlington National Cemetery on Tuesday April 6.

Wilbur Broadus Kidd

Wilbur Broadus Kidd of Sterling died April 15 at Hospice of Northern Virginia.

He was born June 28, 1919 in Schuyler, Va. to the late Spencer and Rosa Martin Kidd.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Juanita Kidd of Sterling; a daughter, Nita J. Blight of Sterling; one son, Don Kidd of Spring, Texas; two sisters, Elsie Craig of Leesburg and Edith Huhtaren of Massachusetts; five grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Services were held April 18 at Sterling Park Baptist Church, with interment at Sterling Cemetery. Memorials may be made in his name to Hospice of Northern Virginia, P.O. Box 1576, Merrifield, Va. 22116-1576. Arrangements were by Adams- Green Funeral Home.

William Lee Leight

William Lee (Pee Wee) Leight, 43, of Sterling, a former longtime resident of Herndon, died April 14 at Loudoun Hospital Center.

He was born Aug. 16, 1960 in Leesburg to the late Kenneth William and Margaret Alice Stillion Leight. He was the fiancee of Susan Kowalski.

Other survivors a son, Christopher Leight; his step-children, Stephanie Kowalski, Stephen Kowalski and Carmella Marrcro; a brother, Kenneth E. Leight of Marshall, Va.; two sisters, Brenda McPeak of Sterling and Carolina Wines of Reston; a granddaughter, Molly Leight; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held April 10 at Adams- Green Funeral Home in Herndon, with the Rev. Charles Grant officiating. Interment was at Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Herndon.

Helen Owens Mockabee

Helen Owens Mockabee of Sterling died April 20 at Loudoun Hospital Center.

She was born May 28, 1938 in The Plains, Va. to the late Milton and Margaret Murphy Owens.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas A. Mockabee of Sterling; four brothers, Warren Owens of Sterling, Lester Owens of Verona, Va., Danny Owens of Upperville and Edward Owens of Luray; and two sisters, Barbara Layne and Connie Howell, both of Verona.

Services were held April 27 at Adams- Green Funeral Home in Herndon. Interment was at National Memorial Park.

Belvia M. Stokely

Belvia M. Stokely, 87, of Aldie died April 15 at her home.

She was born Nov. 25, 1916 in Turkey Paw, S.C. to the late Nicholas and Nancy A. Saine Gregg. She was the widow of the late Carmac D. Stokely.

Survivors include her children, Mack Stokely of Sterling Park, Dorothy M. Orr of Sterling and Robbie Ann Daniels of Aldie; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held April 18 at Adams- Green Funeral Home in Herndon, with the Rev. Chris Riedel officiating. Interment was at Stonewall Memory Gardens. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Arcola-Pleasant Valley Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company 9, 24000 Gum Springs Road, Arcola, Va., or Hospice of Northern Virginia, P.O. Box 1576, Merrified, Va. 22116-1576.

Nathan B. Bruckenthal

Nathan B. Bruckenthal, USCG, of Dania Beach, Fl. died April 24 at Armed Forces Hospital in Kuwait City.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Bruckenthal; his parents, Laurie Bruckenthal Bullock of Ashburn and Eric Bruckenthal of Northport, N.Y.; a step-parent, Pat Bruckenthal; brothers and sisters Noabeth Bruckenthal of Ashburn and Matthew and Michael Bruckenthal, both of Northport, N.Y.; and grandparents Elaine and Rudy Bruckenthal of Queens, N.Y.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. and 6 p.m.-8 p.m., with a memorial service at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 6 at Adams- Green Funeral Home in Herndon. Graveside services with military honors will be held Friday, May 7 at 11 a.m. at Arlington National Cemetery. (Gather at the Administration Building at 10:30 a.m.) In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Bruckenthal Memorial Fund, 39 Schooner Road, Northport, N.Y. 11768.

Harry C. Murto

Harry C. Murto of Sterling died May 4 at Loudoun Hospital Center.

He was born Oct. 17, 1935 in Washington, D.C. to the late Harry C. and Dorothea O’Leary Murto.

Survivors include his wife, Antonia M. Murto of Sterling; his children, Craig Murto and wife Meg of Linden, Va., Keith Murto and wife Karen of Sterling, and Eric Murto and wife Christine of Leesburg; seven brothers, Bill, Jim, Frank, John, Joe, Bob and Rich Murto; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 9 at Adams- Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden St. in Herndon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 10 at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church in Sterling, with interment at Chestnut Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to The Hospices of the National Capital Region, P.O, Box 1576, Merrifield, Va. 22116-1576.

Charles (Chuck) Cash

Charles (Chuck) Cash, 51, of Ashburn died May 6 at Loudoun Hospital Center.

He was born April 28, 1952 in Lynchburg, Va. to Bette A. Snead Cash and the William F. Cash.

Survivors include his wife, Karen F. Cash; his children, Lance Corporal Charlie Cash (USMC), William Cash and Caroline Cash; and brothers, William, John and Joseph Cash.

A memorial mass was celebrated May 10 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Herndon. The family suggests donations in his name may be made to the Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center, One Charles Center, 100 N. Charles St., Suite 227, Baltimore, Md. Arrangements were by Adams- Green Funeral Home of Herndon.

Anne B. DeHuff

Anne B. DeHuff, 87, a resident of Falcons Landing Retirement Center since 1998, died May 2 in Leesburg.

She was a resident of McLean for 30 years before moving to Sterling.

She was born Feb. 9, 1917 to the late Henry and Matilde Rafter Bradley in Ottawa, Canada. She was a 1939 graduate of Ottawa Civic Hospital Nursing School. She was a member of Potomac Falls Episcopal Church.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Gilbert L. DeHuff of Sterling; two sons, David W. DeHuff of Havertown, Pa. and Gilbert R. DeHuff of Macon, Ga.; and four granddaughters.

Graveside services were held May 8 at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery in Lebanon, Pa. Arrangements were by Loudoun Funeral Chapel, Leesburg.
