Gene Snead 64
Carlas Gene Snead, 64, of King George County died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Born in Russell County, Mr. Snead was the owner and operator of Snead Septi-Pump Service in King George for 10 years. He had also worked as a dispatcher for Hilldrup Moving & Storage and as a plice officer in Fredericksburg and Aquia Harbour in Stafford County. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Snead; a daughter, Twyla Demoranville of Spotsylvania; two sons, Timothy Snead of Virginia Beach and Shane Snead of Fredericksburg; and five grandchildren. He was also the father of the late Jeffrey Snead.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green.

Eugene Bowman 57
Eugene Francus Bowman, 57, of Montross died unexpectedly Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, at the Warsaw Health Care Center.
Born in Cardwell County, N.C., Mr. Bowman was a member of Nomini Baptist Church at Templemans.
Survivors include six sisters, Janette Pips of Lenoir, N.C., Betty Sue Kirby of Patterson, N.C., Roxie Hamlet and Florence Balderson, both of Montross, Cedren Robbins of Georgia and Reba Alverson of Vienna; four brothers, George Bowman and Cecil Bowman, both of Montross, Boyd Bowman of Collettsville, N.C., and George Marshall Bowman Jr. of Lenoir, N.C.; and 34 nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held Friday, Oct. 13, at Nomini Baptist Church. The Rev. Gurney Robbins officiated and burial was in the church cemetery.

David Morgans 62
David Morgans, 62, of Colonial Beach died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Born in Aberdare, Wales, Great Britain, Mr. Morgans had retired as a planner and estimator at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division.
He was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Oak Grove and several area bowling leagues. He was also a member of the Westmoreland-Potomac Shores Neighborhood Watch.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy E. Morgans; a daughter, Cindy A. Aclan, a son, David Morgans Jr., and his mother, Blodwen Morgans-Hynson all of Colonial Beach; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000, at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, Colonial Beach. Ken Chatham officiated and burial was in Popes Creek Cemetery at Baynesville.

Lorraine Therese "Rene" Sheffer, 66, of King George County died at her residence Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000.
Mrs. Sheffer, born in Boston, Mass., was a recent resident of San Diego and Covina, Calif. She had been a teacher in the Prince George County,Md., school system.
Survivors include two daughters, Marianne Therese Richards of King George and Valerie Jean Reynolds-Thume of Germantown, Md.; two sons, Robert Michael Reynolds of Indian Head, Md., and Peter Francis Reymolds of Warrenton; her mother, Mary A. Cummings of Norton, Mass.; two brothers, William C. Cummings of San Diego, Calif., and Robert J. Cummings of Easton, Mass.; and seven grandchildren.
A funeral was held Monday, Oct. 16, at Oakland Baptist Church, King George. Pastor Ken. D. Miller officiated and burial will be at a later date in Massachusetts.

Edgar Lewis Wright, 82, of Dahlgren died Tuesday, Oct.10, 2000, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Born at Supply in Essex County, Mr.Wright was a World War II Army veteran and a former prisoner of war.He had retired as supervisor of the Main Range at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, after 34 years.
He was a member of Oakland Baptist Church at Owens and was the widower of Shirley Ann Wright.
Survivors include a daughter, Zandra W. Franklin of Midlothian; a sister, Doris W. Wilson of Crestview, Fla.; three nieces, and three nephews.
A funeral was held Saturday, Oct. 14, at Oakland Baptist Church. The Rev. Guy Mattox Jr. officiated and burial was at Historyland Memorial Park in King George.

Hugh Taylor Rose Jr., 73, formerly of King George County, died Tuesday, Oct 10, 2000, at Fredericksburg Nursing Home.
Born in Washington, Mr. Rose had retired from the FMC plant, where he worked as a lead burner. He was a World War II Navy veteran.
Survivors include a son, Jerald T. Rose of Philadelphia, Pa.; a sister, Barbara Hamlett of Fredericksburg; a half sister, Loretta James of Spotsylvania; a brother, Donald R. Rose of Spotsylvania; a half brother, Allan L. Rose of Spotsylvania; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Jean Marie Conlon, 78, of Dallas, Ga., former longtime resident of Dahlgren, died at her home Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000.
Mrs. Conlon, born at Dahlgren, was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church there.
Survivors include her husband, Eddie Conlon; two daughters, Michele Snodgrass of Dalta, Pa., and Anita Melton of Dallas, Ga.; a son, Michael Conlon of Herndon; a sister, Rita Pierce of Clearwater, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at her former home in Dahlgren.

Odessa Virginia Sanders, 52, of Montross died of leukemia Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, at the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals in Richmond.
Born at Zacata, Mrs. Sanders was a certified nursing assistant and was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Montross.
Survivors include her husband, Eugene Ray Sanders; two sons, Michael Lee Kelley of Thornburg and Marcus Alfred Blackwell of Massaponax; two daughters, Miranda Lee Kelley of Montross and Georgia, Virginia Colemen of Manassas; her mother, Laura Jane Hill of Montross; four sisters, Clare Jones, Valice Jones, Martha
Williams and Annette Cannady; four grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Lester Rosewell officiated and burial was in the Jehovah's Witnesses Cemetery in Foneswood.

Kyle Jacob Cox, infant son of Gary and Renee Cox of King George County, died Monday, Aug. 28, 2000, during birth.
Survivors include his parents; a brother, G. Allen Cox Jr. of King George; his maternal grandparents, Donna McGee of King George and Gary Campagne of Coles Point; his Paternal grandparents, Thomas and Audrey Cox of King George; his maternal great-grandparents, Catherine and Arthur Ham of King George; and his paternal great-grandparents, Claude and Bessie Loving of King George.
A funeral was held was held Sunday, Sept. 3, at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home in King George. The Rev. Sherman Davis officiated. A privat burial followed.
Fannie Marie Goerlitz 81
Fannie Marie Goerlitz, 81, of King George County died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
A native and lifelong resident of King George, she was a member of Round Hill Baptist Church there. She was the widow od Henry Goerlitz.
Survivors include a daughter, Patrica G. Martin of the home; a son, Henry E. Goerlitz of King George; and one grandson.
