Eula Mae Hollowell 88
Eula Mae Hollowell, 88, of King George County, and formerly of Falls Church, died Friday, Sept.1, 2000, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Born in Edenton, N.C., Mrs. Hollowell was a homemaker and member of Glencarlyn Road Baptist Church, Falls Church. She was the widow of Julius G. Hollowell. Survivors include her son, Glenn J. Hollowell of King George; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three step-great=grandchildren.
A funeral Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000, at Glencarly Road Baptist Church. The Rev. Gregory Loewer officiated and burial was in Oakwood Cemetery, Falls Church.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Glencarly Road Baptist Church, 3245 Glencarly Road, Falls Church, Va. 22041.

Gary Allen Fleshman 43
Gary Allen Fleshman, 43, of Colonial Beach died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, at McGuire Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Richmond, after a long illness.
A native of Annapolis, Md., Mr. Fleshman was a boatwright for Stanford's Railway, Colonial Beach. He also was a Vietname War veteran and a member of New Life Ministries Church, Colonial Beach.
Survivors include his wife, Susan N. Fleshman; a son, Nicholas V. Fleshman; his mother, Mildred C. Fleshman; his father Clarence James Fleshman, all of Colonial Beach; three brothers; three sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family requests that expression of sympathy take the form of contributions to New Life Ministries Church, 535 Euclid Ave., Colonial Beach, Va. 22443.
Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, Colonial Beach, handled the arrangements.

Elizabeth Davis 85
Elizabeth J. Davis, 85, of Colonial Beach, formerly of Washington, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, at Mary Washington Health Center at Colonial Beach.
Mrs. Davis, born in Washington, had lived at the beach for the last 24 years. She had retired as a clerical worker for a pharmaceutical warehouse in the Washington area. She was a member of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, Colonial Beach, and the Colonial Beach Elks Lodge Auxiliary.
She was the widow of Walter Albert "Dyke" Davis.
Survivors include a son, Walter Earl Davis of Alexandria; a sister, Marlene Grigsby of Colonial Beach; three brothers, James William Switzer of Houston, TX., Paul Anthony Switzer of Inglesdie, TX., and Frances Xavier Switzer of Dunnville, Fla.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral was held Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, in Colonial Beach. The Rev.John Melmer officiated and burial was at Historyland Memorial Park in King George.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Colonial Beach Rescue Squad, 225 Dennison St., Colonial Beach, Va. 22443.

John Pryor 75
Daniel Webster "John" Pryor, 75, of King George County died Sunday, August 13 at Mary Washington Hospital.
A native and lifelong resident of King George, Pryor attended public schools there. He was employed in the construction business in Washington, D.C. and was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Pryor was the widower of Patricia Pryor.
Survivors include three daughters:Christine Foster, Angela Pryor and Karen Buckner, all of King George; a son, Richard Buckner of King George; a sister, Sadie Pryor of New Jersey; two brothers, Isaiah Pryor and Caret Pryor, both of New Jersey; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A funeral was held Thursday, August 17, at Lee Funeral Home in King George. The Rev. Joseph E. Toliver officiated and burial was in Little Ark Baptist Church cemetery at Owens.

Daniel Webster "John" Pryor, 75, of King George County died Sunday, August 13 at Mary Washington Hospital.

William "Ivey" Franks 96
William "Ivey" Franks, Sr., 96, of Goldsboro, N.C. died August 11, 2000, after a period of declining health.
Mr. Franks was a retired Diesel Mechanic.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Helen L. Franks and a great-grandson.
"Ivey" Franks is survived by two sons, William I. Franks, Jr. of Goldsboro, N.C. and Charles E. Franks of Colonial Beach, Va.; three sisters; six grandchildren, one of whom is Daniel Cole Franks of Colonial Beach; and three great-grandchildren.
The family received friends at Apex Funeral Home on Monday, Aug. 14, and burial is in Apex Cemetery, Apex, N.C.

Lester Curtis Carpenter 81
Lester Curtis Carpenter Jr., 81, of Montross died Saturday, Aug.19, 2000, at Warsaw Health Care Center.
Formerly of Baltimore, Md., Mr. Carpenter was the widower of Helen Farver Carpenter. He had retired from Westinghouse in Baltimore and was a member of the Elks Lodge in Colonial Beach. He was also a member of the Colonial Beach Moose Lodge and was instrumental in founding the Montross lodge.
Survivors include his wife, V. Marian Carpenter; three daughters, Valerie Marian Ivanyshyn of Montross, Austina Marie Ivanyshyn of Bowley's Quarters, Md. and Carol Ann Carpenter of Key West, Fla.; a son, Charles Lloyd Carpenter of Baltimore; two granddaughters; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Montross Rescue Squad, Box 1174, Montross, Va. 22520; or to the World War II Memorial in Washington.

Nina Edna Scrimger 90
Nina Edna Scrimger, 90, of Zacata in Westmoreland County died Wednesday, Aug.16, 2000, at Riverside Tappahannock Hospital.
Miss Scrimger, born in Westmoreland County, had retired as a clerk from Harris Department Store. She was a member of Currioman Baptist Church.
She is survived by nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held Saturday, Aug.19, at Currioman Baptist Church. The Rev. Curtis Hawks officiated and burial was in Providence United Methodist Church cemetery.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Montross Rescue Squad, Box 1174, Montross, Va. 22520; or to Currioman Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1026 Epping Tract, Montross, Va. 22520.

Kathryn V. Krombholz 84
Kathryn V. Krombholz, 84, of Colonial Beach died Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, at Mary Washington Health Center, Colonial Beach.
A Colonial Beach resident since 1990, Mrs. Krombholz was the mother of the late Joe Krombholz and the late Bruce Krombholz.
Survivors include two daughters, Senna L. Krombholz and Helen K. Niswander, both of Colonial Beach; two sons, Oscar E. Krombholz of Warrenton and Louis Lee Krombholz of Fairless Hills, Pa.; a sister, Helen Souther of Hendersonville, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
A funeral was held Wednesday at Sterling United Methodist Church, Sterling. The Rev. Alan Reifsnyder officiated and burial followed in the Sterling Cemetery.

Ethel W. Ambrose 76
Ethel W. Ambrose, 76, of Colonial Beach died unexpectedly Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, at her home.
Born at George Washington Birthplace National Monument in Westmoreland County, Mrs. Ambrose was a retired school bus driver and a clerk at Hall's Market in Westmoreland.
The widow of Benjamin Joseph Ambrose, she was a member of Monroe Bay Assembly of God Church in Westmoreland.
Survivors include her son, Ben Ambrose; two daughters, Jo Ann Powers of Colonial Beach and Lynne Gray of Esmont; a brother, William Washington of Stafford County; two sisters, Mamie Castle of Colonial Beach and Helen Ambrose of Stafford; a half-brother, Melvin Lucas of Georgia; a half-sister, Anna Wooten of Highland Springs; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held Monday, Aug, 21, 2000 at Monroe Bay Assembly of God Church. The Rev. Ralph Dixon officiated and burial was at Historyland Memorial Park in King George County.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Colonial Beach Rescue Squad, 225 Dennison St., Colonial Beach, Va. 22443.

William A. Dickson 96
William A. "Bill" Dickson, 96, of Topeka, Kan., father of Dorothy Lou Sloop of King George County, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, in a Topeka nursing home.
Mr. Dickson was a farmer and owned and operated a grocery store in Scranton, Kan., for several years. He was a life member of Dover Lodge 138, A.F.&A.M. at Dover, Kan.
Besides his daughter of King George, survivors include two other daughters; two sons; a sister; 19 grandchildren 28 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a step-great-great-grandson.
A funeral was held Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at Auburn United Methodist Church. Burial followed in Auburn Cemetery.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
Carey Funeral Home in Burligame, Kan., handled the arrangements.
