Arthur R. Walker 79 years
Arthur R. Walker, 79, of King George died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at home.
Born in King George, he was a self-employed mechanic.
Mr. Walker is survived by three daughters, Linda Wells of Woodbridge, Brenda Bradford of Virginia Beach and Sharon White of Norfolk; a son, Nathaniel Walker of King George; two brothers, Willard Walker of Stafford County and Alex Walker of Fairfax; three sisters, Ruby Davis and Catherine Doleman, both of Washington, D.C., and Barbara McKenney of King George; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at noon Saturday at Bailey Funeral Home Chapel. His ashes were interred at Oakland Cemetery in King George.

Shirley Stoneburner 72 years
Shirley R. Stoneburner, 72, of Colonial Beach died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at the Medical College of Virginia.
She had retired as a hotel manager at the Potomac Inn in Colonial Beach.
Mrs. Stoneburner was the widow of Louis L. Stoneburner.
She is survived by two sisters, Edith D. Thompson of Chantilly and Norma J. Gaizick of Colonial Beach; two brothers, Bernard E. Russell of Manassas and Arnold S. Russell of Warrenton; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held Tuesday at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, Colonial Beach. Burial was in Historyland Memorial Park, King George.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Colonial Beach Rescue Squad, 225 Dennison St., Colonial Beach, Va. 22443.

Dorothy V. Scott 79 years
Dorothy Virginia Scott, 79, of King George died Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Miss Scott was a resident of Heritage Hall Health Care in King George. She was an elementary school teacher in the King George schools for 30 years, and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Shiloh.
A funeral was held Thursday at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, King George. Burial was in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to a favorite charity.

Toni Meekins 79 years
Antoinette "Toni" Diana Charuhas Meekins, 79, of Hague died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, of cancer.
A classical piano accompanist, Mrs. Meekins was a pioneer in women's automobile racing, driving a lavender MGA and earning a collection of trophies. She was also an author, magazine editor and officer manager.
She is survived by three sons, Randall Dudley of Santa Rosa, Calif., Jay Kimberly of Baltimore, Md., and Frank Montgomery of Frederick, Md.; and five grandchildren.
A funeral was held today at Yeocomico Episcopal Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

John Franklin Lewis Sr. 84 years
John Franklin Lewis Sr., 84, of Lottsburg died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at Warsaw Health Care Center. He was the father of Arlden M. Lewis of Montross.
Mr. Lewis was born in Lancaster County and spent his entire life as a waterman on the Coan and Potomac rivers.
Besides his son of Montross, Mr. Lewis is survived by seven other sons, John Franklin Lewis Jr. of Richmond, Robert T. Lewis of Port Royal, S.C., Thomas E. Lewis Sr. of Jennings, La., Coleman W. Lewis and Wayne M. Lewis, both of Fredericksburg, Ernest M. Lewis of Orange and Larry P. Lewis of Lottsburg; three daughters, Faye L. Dickinson of Rockingham, N.C., Darlene L. Alger of Stanley and Jean L. Wilkins of Richmond; a brother, Marsh E. Lewis of Lancaster; 32 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A funeral was held last Tuesday at Jones-Ash Funeral Home, Raineswood. Burial was in Callao Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Heathsville, Va. 22473.

Pearl L. Harper 1921-2000
Pearl Lillian Harper, 79, of King George died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at her residence.
Born in Washington, D.C., Mrs. Harper had retired as a school teacher's aide at King George Elementary School and was a member of Salem Baptist Church.
She was the widow of Eddie Harper.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Tolliver of King George; two sons, Kenneth Harper and Layne Harper, both of King George; a stepdaughter, Marie Hines of Rocky Mount, N.C.; a brother, James Cooper of Philadelphia, Pa.; eight grandchildren; and one stepgrandchild.
A funeral was held on Monday at Salem Baptist Church, King George. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Helen D. Bryant 1926-2000
Helen D. Bryant, 74, of Montross died Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, at her home.
She had retired as a postal worker for the United States Postal Service and was a member of Providence United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Bryant is the widow of Harvey E. Bryant.
Survivors include four daughters, Linda B. Yeatman of Warsaw, and Judy B. Bryce, Betty B. Trader and Helen Louise Wilkens, all of Montross; two sons, Stephen H. Bryant and Harvey D. Bryant, both of Montross; a sister, Mary D. Knight; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A graveside funeral service was held Thursday at the Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery, Montross.

Serena B. Brown 1918-2000
Serena Bumbrey Brown, 82, of Spotsylvania County died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000 at Carriage Hill Nursing Home. Mrs. Brown was born in King George. The widow of Haywood P. Brown, she had retired as a supervisor for the Federal Housing Administration and was a member of Shiloh (Old Site) Baptist Church. Survivors include five sisters, Eunice B. Lewis and Gertrude B. Wilkinson, both of Washington, D.C., Viola B. Shelton, Vernice B. Tyler and Eliza B. Williams, all of Fredericksburg; and two brothers, Veola Bumbrey and Richard E. Bumbrey, both of Fredericksburg. A funeral was held Friday at Shiloh (Old Site) Baptist Church. Burial was in Quantico National Cemetery.

Lavon Gardner Weatherly 91
Lavon Gardner Weatherly, 91, of Georgetown, S.C. died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2000 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. She was the mother of Marceline W. Morris of King George.
Mrs. Weatherly had been a member of First Baptist Church in Georgetown since 1936, where she served as president of her Sunday School class. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and was the widow of William R. Weatherly.
Besides her daughter, Mrs. Weatherly is survived by a sister, Peggy Sue Norrell; a brother, Charles Gardner; two grandchildren, Ellen L. Spivey and Elmer R. Morris III; five great-grandchildren, Kelly Brown, Erin L. Prunczik, Brock Butler Natalie Morris and Paul Morris; and four great-great-grandchildren, Justin Brown, Jillian Brown, Jacob Brown and Lucas Prunczik.
A funeral was held on Saturday, Dec. 9 at First Baptist Church, Georgetown, S.C.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to First Baptist Church of Georgetown, Building Fund, 219 Cleland St., Georgetown, S.C. 29440.

Samuel P. Warren 89
Samuel P. Warren, 89, of Arlington died Thursday, December 7, 2000, at Arlington Hospital. He was the father of Ruth W. Canaday of Montross.
Mr. Warren, the widower of Irma B. Warren, had been a resident of Arlington for over 60 years.
Besides his daughter of Montross, he is survived by another daughter; three sons; a sister; three brothers; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A funeral was held Monday at Murphy Funeral Home, Arlington. Another funeral was held the same day at Henderson United Methodist Church, Callao, with burial in the church cemetery.

John J. Straub 87
John J. Straub, 87, of King George died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Born in Yonkers, N.Y., Mr. Straub had retired as a banker and was a World War II Navy veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Winifred B. Straub; a daughter, Joanne Straub of Westfield, Mass.; a son, John Straub on King George; and four grandchildren.
A private funeral was held for Mr. Straub.

Jessie W. Ramey 79
Jessie Washington Ramey, 79, of Colonial Beach died at his home Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000.
Mr. Ramey, affectionately known as "Pop," had retired as a carpenter with Union Local 0132. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Church Hill, Tenn.
Survivors include his wife, Maggie Marie Ramey; two daughters, Janice D. Ostrander of Fayetteville, Ga., and Angela D. Costa of Walworth, N.Y.; a son, Jessie W. Ramey Jr. of Waldorf, Md.; a sister, Armenda Housewright of Mount Carmel, Tenn.; a brother, the Rev. Carl Ramey of Kingsport, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Judy Ramey.
A funeral was held Monday at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, Colonial Beach, with the Rev. Charles J. Ostrander officiating. Burial was in Quantico National Cemetery.
