Anita Satina Nash 98
Anita Satina Nash, 98, a Westmoreland native and former resident of Glendale, Md., died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000 at Mary Washington Health Center in Colonial Beach.
Mrs. Nash had retired from the federal government and also as a nurse at Glendale Hospital. She was a member of Little Zion Baptist Church at Oak Grove.
Survivors include 11 nieces, Senora Allen, Blanche Johnson, Margaret Purce, Maude Smith, Esther Jett, Helen Smith, Barbara Smith, Avis Maiden, Roberta Maiden, Peggy Maiden and Estelle Maiden; five nephews, James Maiden, Gordon Maiden, Willie Smith, Charles Norris Jr. and Norman Jett; 12 great-nieces and 16 great-nephews.
A funeral was held Friday, Dec. 8 at Little Zion Baptist Church, with the Rev. William B. Scott officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Eliza Ashton Morrison 89
Eliza Ashton Morrison, 89, of King George died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at Mary Washington Hospital.
A lifelong King George resident, Mrs. Morrison worked as a secretary for her late husband, Horace T. Morrison, a former King George commonwealth's attorney. She was a graduate of St. Margaret's Episcopal School in Tappahannock and a trustee and lifetime member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in King George.
Survivors include a daughter, Sally M. Budnick of King George; a sister, Lucy Ashton Lyddane of Exton, Penn.; two brothers, Horace V. Ashton of King George and Daingerfield L. Ashton of Spartanburg, S.C.; four grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Sunday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Dahlgren Rescue Squad, Box 1375, Dahlgren, Va. 22448, or to the St. Paul's Episcopal Church Restoration and Preservation Fund, 5486 St. Paul's Road, King George, Va. 22485.

Williams James Montgomery 70
William James Montgomery, 70, of Colonial Beach died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000 at the home of his son in Orlando, Fla.
Mr. Montgomery had retired as a life insurance salesman. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses and was a World War II Navy veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Montgomery; a daughter, Sharon Newton of Fredericksburg; a son, William T. Montgomery of Orlando; a brother, Charles Montgomery of Ohio; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held locally at a later date.
Tri-County Cremation Service, Longwood, Fla., is handling the arrangements.

Charles Coyle McAfee 82
Charles Coyle McAfee, 82, of Montross died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at Arlington Hospital.
Born in Florence, Ala., Mr. McAfee had retired as a firefighter in Washington. He was a member of Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post 252, both in Montross, and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was the widower of Jean March McAfee.
Survivors include two sons, Steven D. McAfee of Vienna and Timothy C. McAfee of Boca Raton, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
A funeral was held Friday, Dec. 8 at Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Charles Dameron officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o Betty Lou McGinness, Box 910, Montross, Va. 22520.

Emily K. Hunt 93
Emily K. Hunt, 93, of Glen Cove, N.Y., formerly of Dahlgren, died Monday, December 4, 2000, at a nursing home in Glen Cove.
Mrs. Hunt was a teacher and principal for over 27 years. She was the widow of Marshall Hunt.
Survivors include a daughter, Christina Stack; a son, Steven M. Hunt; three grandchildren; and a niece.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Florida.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Dunedin Fine Arts & Cultural Center, 1143 Michigan Blvd., Dunedin, Fla. 34698.

Betty Hendrix 94
A memorial service for Betty Barbara "Bets" Hendrix, 94, of Colonial Beach will be held at 7:00 p.m. today at Colonial Beach United Methodist Church. The Rev. Louis A. Martin will officiate.
Mrs. Hendrix died at her home Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000.
Born at Bowler Farm in Spotsylvania County, she was a member of Colonial Beach United Methodist Church, the Colonial Beach Lioness Club and the Colonial Beach Historical Society. She was the widow of C. Walter Hendrix.
Survivors include three sons, C. Walter Hendrix Jr. of Brookville, Md.; Robert W. Hendrix of Silver Spring. Md., and William E. Hendrix of Colonial Beach; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Colonial Beach Rescue Squad, 225 Dennison St., Colonial Beach, Va. 22443.
Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, Colonial Beach, is handling the arrangements.

Rosa Harbord 66
A memorial service for Rosa Harbord, 66, of Stafford County, mother of Ramona Ventura of King George, will be held at 6:00 p.m. today at Laurel Hill Funeral Home, Spotsylvania. Burial will be in Quantico National Cemetery at a later date.
Mrs. Harbord died at her residence Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000.
Survivors include her husband, Harold A. Harbord; three daughters, Ventura, Diana Foster of Spotsylvania and Anita Rock of Hartwood; a brother, Hans Schneider of Germany; and five grandchildren.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Mary Washington Hospice, 2217 Princess Anne St., Suite 002-1, Fredericksburg, Va. 22401.

Minnie L. Edwards 90
Minnie Louise Edwards, 90, of King George died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at Mary Washington Health Care in Colonial Beach.
Mrs. Edwards was born in Index and raised in Ninde in King George.
She had been a waitress at Wilkerson's Seafood Restaurant in Colonial Beach and was a member of Colonial Beach Baptist Church. She was the widow of George W. Edwards.
Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews, including Louise F. Farmer of King George, whom Mrs. Edwards raised.
A funeral was held Saturday at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, King George, with the Rev. Ted James officiating. Burial was in the Round Baptist Church cemetery in King George.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Colonial Beach Rescue Squad, 225 Dennison St., Colonial Beach, Va. 22443.

Robert H. Edler 68
A funeral for Robert H. Edler, 68, of Spotsylvania County, brother of Floyd T. Edler of Colonial Beach, will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Beulah Baptist Church in Spotsylvania County. The Rev. Lloyd Fox will officiate. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
Mr. Edler died at his home Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, apparently from carbon monoxide poisoning from a heater.
Born in Spotsylvania County, he had retired from the Army after 24 years. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Brenda J. Davis of Fredericksburg, Debra A. Edler of New York and Cynthia L. Edler of Washington; four sons, Robert H. Edler Jr. of Maryland, Eric R. Edler of Orange, Ramone J. Edler and Michael K. Edler, both of Washington; two sisters, Addie E. Coleman of Washington and Lena L. Thornton of Baltimore; three brothers, Melvin L. Edler and George A. Edler, both of Washington, and his brother of Colonial Beach; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Michael J. Carroll 21 days
Michael Joseph Carroll, the 21-day-old son of James E. Carroll and Lisa K. Venable of King George, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000 at the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals in Richmond.
Besides his parents, Carroll is survived by two sisters, Courtney Venable and Rachel Carroll, and a brother, Jimmy Carroll, all of King George; his paternal grandfather, James R. Carroll of St. Petersburg, Fla.; his paternal grandmother and stepgrandfather, Eleanor and Arthur Crismond of King George; and his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Patricia Cochran of McDaniels, Ky.
A private funeral was held Saturday at Tabernacle Baptist Church in King George. Burial was in Historyland Memorial Park.
