Annie Bell West 78 years
Annie Bell West, 78, of Westmoreland County died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001, at her home. Mrs. West was employed at Ingleside Plantation Nurseries at Oak Grove. She was a member of Little Zion Baptist Church, Oak Grove, where she was active in the Flower Club. She was the widow of James Earl West. Survivors include five daughters, Mary D. West and Viola West, both of Colonial Beach, Shirley Jones of King George County, Virginia Johnson of Supply and Martha Fontaine of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Anita Byrd of Fort Washington, Md.; a brother, Ernest Fortune of Colonial Beach; 19 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. A funeral was held Saturday at Little Zion Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. The Rev. William B. Scott officiated. Lee Funeral Home, King George, handled the arrangements.

Evelyn Elizabeth Sullivan 73 years
Evelyn Elizabeth Sullivan, 73, of Stafford County died Friday, Aug. 31, 2001, at her home. She was the sister of Charles Fines of King George County. In addition to her brother of King George, Mrs. Sullivan is survived by two sons, Fred T. Sullivan Jr. and Terry R. Sullivan, both of Stafford; five sisters, Phoebe Decatur, Fanny Mills and Roxann Bullock, all of Stafford, Pearl Embrey of Fredericksburg and Margaret Haynes of Spotsylvania County; three other brothers, Tom Fines and Franklin Fines, both of Stafford, and Randolph Fines of Fredericksburg; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A funeral was held today at Found & Sons Funeral Chapels, Fredericksburg. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery. The Rev. John McKay officiated.

Thomas R. Haverty 45 years
Thomas R. Haverty, 45, of King George County died Friday, Aug. 31, 2001, at Mary Washington Hospital after a short illness. Born in the Panama Canal Zone, he worked for the Virginia Department of Transportation in Northern Virginia. He had a degree in computer science from Weber State University in Utah. Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline B. Haverty; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James N. Haverty of King George; a daughter, Amber Haverty of King George; two sons, Louis Haverty of King George and James of Virginia Beach; a sister, Linda Burrill of Newport, R.I.; and a granddaughter. No funeral will be held. Nash and Slaw Funeral Home, King George, handled arrangements.

Wavie Muse Harvey 80 years
Wavie Muse Harvey, 80, of Montross died Friday, Aug. 31, 2001, at her home. Born in Westmoreland County, Mrs. Harvey had retired as the owner and operator of Muse's Beach on the Potomac River. She was the widow of Joseph Fox Harvey. Mrs. Harvey was a member of Popes Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Kim Harvey of Kinsale and Everett Harvey of Montross A funeral was held Sunday at Popes Creek Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. The Rev. Richard Headley officiated. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Popes Creek Cemetery Fund, Box 592, Montross, Va. 22520. Welch Funeral Home, Montross, handled the arrangements.

James Arthur Hannabass 91 years
James Arthur Hannabass, 91, of King George County died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2001, at his residence. Born in Roanoke, Mr. Hannabass had retired as a foreman with Pepco in Washington. He was a member of Rhoadesville Baptist Church, Orange County, and was a World War II Army veteran. He was the widower of Evelyn Virginia Hannabass. Survivors include two daughters, Jeannine Gregory of Laytonsville, Md., and Lorene Sherman of King George; a sister, Addie Manning of Roanoke; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A funeral was held Sunday at Rhoadesville Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. The Rev. Nancy Stanton McDaniel officiated. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Rhoadesville Baptist Church, 26042 Lafayette Drive, Rhoadesville, Va. 22727.

Mae Shelton Bullock 81 years
Mae Shelton Bullock, 81, of Fredericksburg died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2001, at Mary Washington Hospital. Born in King George County, Mrs. Bullock had retired as a beautician from Dot's Beauty Shop. She was a member of Fredericksburg Baptist Church and was the widow of Woodrow W. Bullock. Survivors include a son, Kenneth W. Bullock of Spotsylvania; a sister, Nancy Mitz of Fredericksburg; and a granddaughter. A graveside service was held Saturday in Oak Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Alan R. Hager and the Rev. Mike Motsko officiated. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Spotsylvania Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 11121 Leavells Road, Fredericksburg, Va. 22407; or to Fredericksburg Baptist Church Building Fund, 1019 Princess Anne St., Fredericksburg, Va. 22401. Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel, handled the arrangements.

Delores Blackwell 70 years
Delores Blackwell, 70, of Fredericksburg died Monday, Sept. 3, 2001, at Mary Washington Hospital. She was the sister of Shirley K. Beavers of Colonial Beach Mrs. Blackwell was a member of VFW Post 3103 Ladies Auxiliary, the American Legion Post 320 Ladies Auxiliary and the Spotsylvania Senior Center. Her hobbies included oil painting, arts and crafts. In addition to her sister of Colonial Beach, Mrs. Blackwell is survived by her husband, Nathan Blackwell; two daughters, Rebecca Blackwell of Woodbridge and Tiffany Lehman of Akron, Ohio; a son, James A. Blackwell of Port Washington, Ohio; another sister, Bettie L. McCleary of Alexandria; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. this evening at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Fredericksburg Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 444, Fredericksburg, Va. 22401.

Lois Dorothy Wheatley Wriston 86 years
Lois Dorothy Wheatley Wriston, 86, of King George County died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at Mary Washington Hospital. Born in Coeburn, W.Va., she was the widow of Lacy E. Wriston and attended Grace United Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Lydia Davis of King George; a brother, George M. Wheatley of New Market, Tenn.; and a grandson. A memorial service was held Friday at Grace United Methodist Church at Rollins Fork in Westmoreland County. The Rev. Karen Petersen officiated. Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, W.Va., handled funeral arrangements there.

Chester W. Taylor 62 years
Chester W. Taylor, 62, of King George County died at his home Monday, Aug. 20, 2001. Born in Alexandria, Mr. Taylor worked for Virginia Concrete for 30 years, where he drove a concrete truck. Survivors include his wife, Martha Ann Taylor; a son, Chester William Taylor Jr. of Winchester; his father, Chester Taylor of King George; a sister, Mary Taylor Frye of Stafford County; a brother, Robert E. Taylor of Fredericksburg; and four grandchildren. A funeral was held Thursday at Miller Funeral Home in Woodbridge. Burial was in Ginevan Cemetery in Paw Paw, W.Va. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society, 124 Park St., Vienna, Va. 22180.

Russell Hancock Lyddane 88 years
Russell Hancock Lyddane, 88, of West Chester, Pa., formerly of Dahlgren, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, in West Chester. Born in Washington, D.C., and raised in Baltimore, Md., Mr. Lyddane was a 1938 graduate of Johns Hopkins University. He was a physicist at the Naval Proving Ground, Dahlgren, from 1941 to 1946 and served as head of the Armor and Projectile Laboratory from 1946 to 1948. He directed terminal ballistics research at Dahlgren from 1948 to 1954, when he was appointed assistant director of research. He was selected as technical director in 1956 and served in that capacity until 1964, when he joined the General Electric Co. in Schenectady, N.Y. From 1974 to 1988 when he retired, he was a partner with Ebeling Associates Inc., an engineering consulting firm. Mr. Lyddane had been a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in King George, where he served on the vestry. Survivors include his wife, Lucy Ashton Lyddane; a daughter, Elizabeth Agnew of King George; three sons, John Lyddane of Greenwich, Conn., David Lyddane of Exton, Pa., and Charles Lyddane of Malvern, Pa.; two sisters, Elizabeth Hildebrandt of Baltimore and June Benson of Punta Gorda, Fla.; nine grandchhildren; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral was held Friday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. The Rev. Christopher M. Agnew officiated. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to St. Paul's Restoration and Preservation Association, 5486 St. Paul's Road, King George, Va. 22485; or to St. Martha's Manor, 407 Manor Ave., Downingtown, Pa. 19335. Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, King George, handled the arrangements. William Kenneth "K.W." Rector, 50, of Colonial Beach died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001, at Mary Washington Hospital after a bout with cancer. Born in Rutherford, N.C., he was a salesman for Kenny Auto Brokers in Fredericksburg. Survivors include a daughter and a brother. No funeral is planned. The body was cremated. Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, Colonial Beach, is handling arrangements.

Bessie Madison Loving 79 years
Bessie Madison Loving, 79, of King George County died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001, at Mary Washington Hospital. Born at Woodford in Caroline County, Mrs. Loving had been a member of Montague Baptist Church since the 1930s, where she was involved in many church positions and activities. Survivors include her husband, Claude W. Loving; two daughters, Audrey M. Cox of King George and Frances L. Meade of Stafford; four sons, Carroll E. Loving, Fred M. Loving and Joey F. Loving, all of King George and Percy M. Loving of Stafford; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral was Friday at Montague Baptist Church. Burial was in Historyland Memorial Park in King George. The Rev. Kenneth Brooks officiated. Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, King George, handled the arrangements.

Robert Johnson 66 years
Robert Johnson, 66, of King George County died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home following a long illness. Born in Essex, he worked as a laborer for 35 years for several construction companies. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Calvin Lee of Arlington; four sisters, Adlena Smith of Fredericksburg, Mary Garnett of King George and Martha Ware and Reba Holmes, both of Supply; a brother, James T. Johnson of Champlain; and a granddaughter. A funeral was held Tuesday at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Supply. Burial was in the church cemetery. The Rev. Kevin Sykes officiated. Cedell Brooks Funeral Home, Port Royal, handled the arrangements.

Jerome T. "J.T." Henry 56 years
Jerome T. "J.T." Henry, 56, of Colonial Beach died of cancer Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, at his home. Born in Alexandria, Mr. Henry was a former resident of Burke. He was vice president of Government and Commercial Supply Inc. in Manassas. He was a member of the Colonial Beach Moose Lodge and an Army Ranger, having served in Vietnam. Survivors include his wife, Sharon I. Henry; two daughters, Michelle Clausser of Manassas and Colleen LeClair of Alexandria; a son, Robert Henry of Alexandria; a sister, Mary Ellen Boswell of Colonial Beach; a half sister, Peggy Cubberly of Alexandria; and a niece, Angela Hillegas of Alderson, W.Va., whom he raised. A celebration was held at The Landing in Colonial Beach Saturday, and in Manassas Sunday. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society, Manassas Relay for Life, 124 Park St., S.E., Vienna, Va. 22180; to the Humane Society of the United States, 2100 L St., N.W., Washington, D.C. 20037; or to a favorite charity. Mildred V. Dabbs 86 years
Mildred V. Dabbs, 86, of King George County died Monday, Aug. 20, 2001, at Hughes Home in Fredericksburg. Born in Bealeton, Mrs. Dabbs was a former resident of Silver Spring, Md. She was a member of Tall Cedars of Lebanon in Silver Spring and was the widow of Charles A. Dabbs. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Newell of Springfield, Ohio; two sons, Charles Richard Dabbs of Silver Spring and Lawrence Dabbs of King George; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, King George, is handling the arrangements, which will be private. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Dahlgren Rescue Squad, Box 1375, Dahlgren, Va. 22448.
