Sloan Wilson, 83, of Colonial Beach, a best-selling author, died Sunday, May 25, 2003.
Those who wish to celebrate his life are invited to a memorial service Saturday, July 12, at Fredericksburg City Dock from 10 a.m. to noon.

Lakeesha A. Hunter 22
Lakeesha A. Hunter, 22, of King George County died at her residence Saturday, June 21, 2003.
She was a 1997 graduate of King George High School and a member of New Mount Zion Baptist Church at Caret.
Survivors include her mother, Katrina Hunter of King George; two brothers, Robert W. Hunter III of King George and Ahman Rustin of New York; and two sisters, Nicole and Karina Rustin, both of New York.
A funeral was held Saturday, June 28, at King George High School. The Rev. Joseph Tolliver officiated.

Louis Edward Hockaday 75
Louis Edward Hockaday, 75, of Falmouth died Thursday, June 26, 2003, at Mary Washington Hospital. He was the stepfather of Kenneth M. Scruggs of King George County.
Mr. Hockaday was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and Moose Lodge 1655. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Thomas Hockaday.
In addition to his stepson of King George, Mr. Hockaday is survived by a son, Donald W. Hockaday, and daughter-in-law, Deborah, of Falmouth; a brother, Eugene Hockaday of Richmond; and five stepgrandchildren.
A graveside service was held Sunday, June 29, in Bethany Baptist Church cemetery. The Rev. Amos W. Haley Jr. officiated.

Woodrow V. Baylor 65
Woodrow V. Baylor, 65, of Montross died Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at Warsaw Health Care Center.
A funeral was held Saturday, June 28, at Siloam Baptist Church in Montross. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pastor C.L. Long officiated.
Weldon-Fisher Funeral Home, Nomini Grove, handled arrangements.

Ethel Henderson Allen 89
Mrs. Ethel Henderson Allen, 89, of King George County died Sunday, June 29, 2003, at Woodmont Center.
Ethel was a member of Dahlgren United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Jeane A. Harrell of Fredericksburg; a son, Donald S. Allen of Rocky Mount, N.C.; a sister, Lois Cox of Silver Spring, Md.; two brothers, Elmon Henderson and Charles Henderson, both of Fredericksburg; and three grandchildren.
A funeral was held today at Found & Sons Funeral Chapels in Fredericksburg. Burial was in Historyland Memorial Park in King George. Pastor Keith Mottley officiated.

Jacob Kyle Wilson Infant
Jacob Kyle Wilson, infant son of Samantha Rinehart and Kyle Wilson, died Monday, June 16, 2003, at the Medical College of Virginia. He was the great-grandson of Bobby and Dottie Jenkins of King George County.
In addition to his parents and great-grandparents, he is survived by his grandparents, Kimberly Rinehart of Stafford County, Mark Rinehart of Spotsylvania County, Stacy Wilson of Stafford County and Wendy Guice of Clearwater, Fla.; his other great-grandparents, Danny and Ann Stephens of Spotsylvania, Robert and Mae Guthrie of Spotsylvania, Roger and Lois Brooks of Ruther Glen and Paul and Thelma Williams of Clearwater; two uncles, Kevin Wilson and Chris Wilson, both of Stafford; and several cousins.
A graveside service was held Thursday, June 19, in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The Rev. John McKay officiated.

Eva Roth 88
Miss Eva Roth, 88, of Montross died Monday, June 16, 2003. She was a retired self-employed health care worker.
Survivors are her close friends, Margaret Nash, with whom she made her home for 25 years; Shirley and Wayne Jones; Catherine Fraer; and her dog, Laddy.
A funeral was held Thursday, June 19, at Welch Funeral Home in Montross. Interment was in Grant United Methodist Church Cemetery in Lerty.

Ralph Osborne 72
Ralph Osborne, 72, of North Wilkesboro, N.C., died Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at Bowling Green Healthcare Center. He was the father of Wanda Lumblo of King George County.
In addition to his daughter of King George, Mr. Osborne is survived by his wife, Bessie Osborne of Fredericksburg; three sisters, Anne Belle Hodge of North Carolina, Barbara Violet of Spotsylvania County and Georgia Haynes of North Carolina; four other children, Leana Smith of Stafford County, Juanita Clay of Spotsylvania, Michael Osborne of Stafford and Joyce Stoneburner of Spotsylvania; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Friday, June 20, at Found & Sons Funeral Chapels in Fredericksburg.

Everett W. O'Neill 82
Everett W. O'Neill, 82, of Colonial Beach died at his home Thursday, June 19, 2003. He was the son of Robert Mintern O'Neill and Cornelia Dunn O'Neill.
Mr. O'Neill graduated from Colonial Beach High School and attended Randolph-Macon College in Ashland. He served in the Army during World War II, from 1944 to 1946, as reconnaissance sergeant in the Philippine Theater. He was employed at the Washington Navy Yard in 1941 and later at the Naval Weapons Laboratory at Dahlgren for 35 years, retiring in 1975.
He was a member of the Town Council of Colonial Beach from 1966 to 1970; member of the Board of Supervisors for Westmoreland County from 1971 to 1991, serving as chairman from 1980 to 1990; chairman of the Westmoreland County Welfare Board in the 1970s; member of the Northern Neck Planning District from 1979 to 1988; member of the local government committee of the Virginia Association of Counties; and member of the board of directors for the Chesapeake Bay Agency on Aging Inc. from 1995 to 2001.
He was a member of American Legion Post 148; Colonial Beach Masonic Temple 199, Blue Lodge Masonic Temple, Scottish Rite, York Rite and Acca Temple. He served as president of the George Washington National Memorial Association and was a member of the board of directors for the Northern Neck Branch, Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities.
He was the recipient of the Sons of the American Revolution Community Service Award, presented by the James Monroe Chapter, and the Northern Neck Bar Association Liberty Bell Award. He was a founding member of the Colonial Beach Rescue Squad and member of the Westmoreland County Poor School Society.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Virginia Taylor O'Neill; a son, Everett Michael O'Neill and his wife, Karla, of Woodbridge; a daughter, Patricia Warren O'Neill of Williamsburg; his grandchildren, Michael Sean Hall of Augusta, Ga., Erin Colleen Jewell of Woodbridge, Jennifer Maureen O'Neil of Stafford County, Kathleen Ann O'Neill of Radford, Cameron Kreig Vogt of State College, Pa., Creighton Karl Vogt of Troy, Vt., Stephanie Warren Woodruff of San Diego, Calif., and Katherine Woodruff of Roswell, Ga.; and his great-grandchildren, Benjamin Everett Jewell, and Jeffery Lynn and Alisha Lynn Parker.
A graveside service was held Monday, June 23, in St. Peter's Cemetery in Oak Grove. Pastor Johnny Almond officiated.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Westmoreland County Poor School Society, c/o Mott Sanford, Box 109, Hague, Va. 22469; or to a charity of choice.

Paul Messick Jones 77
Paul Messick Jones of Dahlgren died at Cevista Hospital in La Plata, Md., on Wednesday, June 18, 2003, of an aneurysm. He was 77 and is survived by his wife of many years, Jane Tyndal Jones. He was the son of George L. Jones and Marie Batzer Jones. He was preceded in death by his only brother Frederick Lawrence "Larry" Jones.
Mr. Jones was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy in Baltimore, Md., and Kalamazoo University. He served as a combat photographer aboard the USS Intrepid during World War II. He retired in 1984 after 39 years of distinguished service from the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division. He was head of the photographic laboratory and part of a team which pioneered rapid action photography techniques for naval heavy ordnance.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, June 24, at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home in King George County. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Fredericksburg.

Kinsey E. Harding 86
Kinsey E. Harding, 86, of Colonial Beach died Sunday, June 22, 2003, at the home of her daughter.
Born in Cooleemee, N.C., Mrs. Harding had retired as a registered nurse with Doctors Hospital in Washington. She was a member of Monroe Bay Assembly of God Church and was the widow of Francis H. Harding.
Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Page Barden, and son-in-law, Arthur E. Barden, of Colonial Beach; a sister, Margie Milholen of Cooleemee, N.C.; a brother, David Page of Charlotte, N.C.; and three grandchildren.
A funeral will be held Thursday, June 26, at 2 p.m. at Monroe Bay Assembly of God. The Rev. Ralph Dixon will officiate. Burial will be Friday, June 27, at 11:30 a.m. in National Memorial Park in Falls Church.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral Thursday at the church.
Memorial donations may be made to the Colonial Beach Rescue Squad, 225 Dennison St., Colonial Beach, Va. 22443.

Harold Randall Garrett 47
Harold Randall Garrett, 47, of Colonial Beach, formerly of Fredericksburg, died Friday, June 20, 2003, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Born in Parkersburg, W.Va., Mr. Garrett was a former Marine and a former heavy-equipment operator for Central Contracting in Richmond.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca M. Garrett; four daughters, Michele Bowers and Brandy Garcia of Alexandria and Vicki Garrett and Marie Garrett of Colonial Beach; his father, Harold L. Garrett of Colonial Beach; one sister, Sue Dodson of Stafford County; one brother, Richard L. Garrett Sr. of Spotsylvania County; and two grandchildren.
A funeral was held Tuesday, June 24, at Nash and Slaw Funeral Home in Colonial Beach. Burial was in Historyland Memorial Park in King George County.
