Mary Bowie 86 years
Mary B. Bowie, 86, of King George County passed away Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003, at Heritage Hall Health Care in King George. Arrangements are incomplete at Found & Sons Funeral Chapels, Fredericksburg.

Richard A. Ferrell 66 years
Richard A. Ferrell, 66, of Milford in Caroline County died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, at his home. Born in King George County, he was a member of A.P. Hill Camp 167, Sons of Confederate Veterans, Point Lookout POW Organization and the King George Historical Society. He was a Marine Corps veteran of Korea and Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife, June S. Ferrell; his mother, Martha Ellis of Richmond; two daughters, Robin Wright of Madison, Ala., and Jo Ann Rutledge of Mechanicsville; four stepsons; a sister, Alice Blanton of Glen Allen; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one niece; and three nephews.
A funeral was held Sunday, Nov. 16, at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, with the Rev. Dwight C. Storke officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Hanover Baptist Church Cemetery, King George. The family received friends at the funeral home, Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003. Ralph C. Chinault 84 years old
Ralph C. Chinault, 84, of Fredericksburg died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, at Mary Washington Hospital. He was the brother of Thelma C. Cheadle and her husband, John S., of King George.
Born in Caroline County to the late Richard and Myrtle Chinault, he was a member of Sylvania Heights Baptist Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M., where he was a Master Mason. He worked for the Virginia Department of Transportation, retiring after 44 years of service.
Ralph lived the last year of his life with his son and daughter-in-law, Roy D. and Roberta Chinault.
In addition to his sister of King George, Mr. Chinault is survived by a son, Richard E. Chinault and his wife, Linda, of Fredericksburg; four other sisters, Phyllis Ellis and her husband, William R., of Fredericksburg, Virginia Irving and her husband, Forest, of Fredericksburg, Charlotte Hayden of Richmond and Ida F. Stanley of Ashland; two brothers, Otis A. Chinault and his wife, Mabel, of Supply, and Possie B. Chinault and his wife, Winnie, of Bumpass; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Aubrey L. Chinault.
The family received friends at Found & Sons Funeral Chapels, Fredericksburg. A funeral will be held at the funeral home Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 2:30 p.m., with the Rev. Paul R. Harfst officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations in his name to Sylvania Heights Baptist Church, 150 Church St., Fredericksburg, Va. 22408; or to Mary Washington Hospice, 2300 Fall Hill Ave., Suite 210, Fredericksburg, Va. 22401.

Alice G. Berry 83 years
Alice Gouldman Berry, 83, of Colonial Beach died Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, at Farnham Manor.
Born in Westmoreland County, Mrs. Berry was a member of Round Hill Baptist Church in King George County and the widow of Stephen S. Berry.

Ralph Van Pelt 91 years
Ralph Van Pelt, 91 of Colonial Beach died Thursday, Oct. 30. 2003, at Hughes Home.
Mr. Van Pelt was a retired member of Steam Fitters Local 602, and was a veteran of World War II. He was an avid fisherman and loved living in Colonial Beach.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; three daughters, Victoria, Lynn and Valerie; a son, Hunter; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Colonial Beach Rescue Squad, 225 Dennison St., Colonial Beach, Va. 22443. Online condolences may be sent to foundandsons.com.

Sharon C. Lasserre 49 years
Sharon C. Lasserre, 49, of Colonial Beach died at her home on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, following a long battle with breast cancer.
She is survived by her special loving daughter, Anna Lynne Lasserre of Colonial Beach; her mother; Ann Jenkins of Colonial Beach; two sisters, Roberta C. Moss of Colonial Beach and Patricia C. Moore of Des Moines, Iowa; a brother-in-law, B.L. Moss of Colonial Beach; and five nephews and their families, Benji and Christina Moss of Colonial Beach, Brian Moss of Colonial Beach, and Michael Moore and Chuck and Richard Pemberton, all of Des Moines.
She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Curran of Carencro.. La., and her stepfather, Frankie Jenkins of Colonial Beach and Richmond.
Sharon had been a 25-year veteran schoolteacher. She was born and raised in Colonial Beach and had built her career in Louisiana.
That career included 13 years of special-education classroom and homebound instruction, teaching children up to the age of 15. Afterward, she obtained her master's degree in elementary school administration and principalship, going on to be Safe and Drug-Free School Coordinator for five years and then serving as an elementary school principal for seven years.
She had received many honors and awards, including Teacher of the Year, Safe and Drug-Free Red Ribbon State Campaign Winner, and special recognition from the State of Louisiana's Executive Department under Gov. Edwin Edwards.
Children were her love and teaching was her passion. She moved home to Colonial Beach three years ago to be with her family, and was most recently employed by the Colonial Beach public school system as a special-education teacher. She was a member of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, past resident of the CBPTA, and a member of the CB Women of the Moose.
She remained active and loving until the end, with the aid of beloved caretakers from both Virginia and Louisiana, including her devoted sister Berta, her mother, and her dearest friends, Dinah Jenkins, Rocky and Blaire Denson, Simone Hawkins, Jeanette Mizell, Bridgett Marcell and Pat Fitzgerald, her cherished companion Kerry McClure, and so many others who came to comfort her.
The family received friends and relatives from on Tuesday, Nov. 4, at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, Colonial Beach. The Ladies of the Moose held a ceremony on that day at the funeral home.
A funeral Mass was held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Colonial Beach. Burial was in Historyland Cemetery in King George.
In lieu of flowers, Sharon request ed that donations be made to St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, Colonial Beach, and /or the Colonial Beach Rescue Squad.

James P. Frye unlisted
The Rev. James P. Frye fell asleep into the arms of Jesus Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Born in King George, he was the pastor of First Baptist Church Ambar for over 16 years. He was a graduate of The Family Bible College, earning a bachelor's degree, and also a graduate of The Faith Bible Institute.
Pastor Frye was a mentor, teacher, evangelist and an apostle of Jesus Christ. He was also a retired Sgt. 1st Class in the United States Army.
Survivors include his wife, Betty J. Frye of King George; a son, James P. Frye Jr.; one daughter, Myra Gibson; one daughter-in-law, Wanda Frye; one son-in-law, Anthony Gibson; one grandson, Anthony James Gibson; three brothers, John Burnett, Willis Frye and William Frye, all of King George; 11 aunts; one great-aunt; 10 uncles; eight sisters-in-law; and three godchildren.
A funeral was held on Nov. 1, at Arm of the Lord Ministries, with the Rev. Robert Brown officiating. Burial was in First Baptist Church Ambar cemetery.

Eddie Alexander 54 years
Lawrence Edward "Eddie" Alexander, 54, of King George died Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, at Beverly Health Care at Fredericksburg.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Ambassador Baptist Church in Caroline County.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Alexander; a brother, Frankie Donald of Martinsville; a sister, Patsy Estep of Martinsville; an aunt, Loretta Buchannan, and a cousin, Linda Andrickis, both of Alexandria; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held on Tuesday, Nov. 4, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg, with Pastor Thomas McGee officiating. Burial was in Quantico National Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home.

Robert C. Hoban 94 years
The Rev. Robert C. Hoban, 94, of Oak Grove died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at Mary Washington Health Center, Colonial Beach.
He had retired as pastor of Zion Baptist Church, Lottsburg, after 34 years as pastor. He was a former member of the Westmoreland County School Board.
Survivors include a son, Victor Weldon of Woodbridge; a brother, Sherman Hoban of Colonial Beach; and two stepsons, Medwyn Weldon of Fredericksburg and Oswald Weldon of Colonial Beach.
A funeral was held Friday, Oct. 24, at Little Zion Baptist Church, Oak Grove, with the Rev. William B. Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family received friends at the church, where the body was viewed.

Joseph H. Hatton 89 years
Joseph H. Hatton, 89, of Colonial Beach died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Born in Clinton, Md., Mr. Hatton had retired as a supervisor for the City of Alexandria Maintenance Garage. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and tinkering. He was the widower of Louise H. Hatton.
Survivors include four daughters, Betty H. Myers of Annapolis, Md., Ruth Elaine "Pat" Hoskinson of Manassas, Rachel Vandiver of Madisonville, Ky., and Mary Garrett of Colonial Beach; a sister, Rachel Rose-Rudderforth of Alexandria; a brother, George Hatton of Gordonsville; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, Colonial Beach. Burial will follow in Mount Comfort Cemetery, Alexandria.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral.
Memorial donations may be made to Mary Washington Hospice, 2300 Fall Hill Ave., Suite 210, Fredericksburg, Va. 22401.

The Rev. James Frye, 55, of King George County died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003, at Mary Washington Hospital. Arrangements are incomplete at Bailey Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.

Mae Madge Brooks 80 years
Mae Madge Brooks, 80, of King George County died Monday, Oct. 20, 2003, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Bernard Lee Brooks; two daughters, Pat Brooks DeShazo, and Nancy Brooks Cramer and her husband, Joe Cramer; a sister, Pauline Gibson; her grandchildren, Tammy DeShazo DeBernard and her husband, Van, Rebecca DeShazo Richards, Thomas Lee DeShazo Jr. and his wife, Teresa, Joe Cramer Jr. and his wife, Anne Marie, Kevin Ray Cramer, Michael Todd Cramer and his wife, Mollie, and Troy Dean Cramer; great-grandchildren, Jennifer DeBernard Dempsey and her husband, Matthew, Stephanie Ann DeBernard, Kristina Marie Richards, Krystal Angelina Richards, David Wayne Heflin and his wife, Bessie, Thomas Lee DeShazo III, James Joseph Cramer, Deborah Elaine Cramer, Macie Marie Cramer and Sallie Anne Cramer; great-great-grandchildren, Heather Nicole Lillis, David Wayne Heflin Jr., and a third great-great-grandchild due in December, 2003.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, James Bernard DeShazo, and her brothers, Leonard, Clarence and Melvin Perry.
A graveside service was held Thursday, Oct. 23, in Falmouth Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Cramer Jr., Todd Cramer, Troy Cramer, Tommy DeShazo, Tommy DeShazo III and David Heflin.
Memorials may be made to the Dahlgren Rescue Squad, Box 1375, Dahlgren, Va. 22448.
