Clifford R. Peal
The funeral for Clifford Roger Peal, 60, of Bassett, who died April 1, 2006, was held Tuesday at Collins Funeral Services with the Rev. Ron Peal officiating. Burial was in Doe Run Baptist Church cemetery with military honors by the Patrick County Memorial Honor Guard.
Pallbearers were Larry Rorrer, Edward Hubbard, Gary Lawson, Buddy Ingram, Bruce Joyce, Ray Chaney, David Cannaday, David Clark and Ronnie Brogan.

Katherine D. Pilson
The funeral for Katherine Dawson Pilson, 85, of Stuart, who died April 2, 2006, was held Tuesday at Buffalo Ridge Pentecostal Holiness Church. The Revs. Jack Foley, A.W. Smith and Kenneth Terry officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ryan Pilson, Chris Pilson, Curt Pilson, W.C. Taylor, Scott Gerrol and Daniel Edwards.
Moody Funeral Home in Stuart was in charge of arrangements.

Margaret D. Prillaman
The funeral for Margaret D. Prillaman of Martinsville, who died March 31, 2006, was held Tuesday at Rich Acres Christian Church with Minister Tim Hunt officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park.
Pallbearers were Barry Lavinder, Conrad Lavinder, Nelson Lee Prillaman, Tommy Draper, Kevin Draper and David Draper.
McKee-Stone Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.
Larry O. Byrd
The funeral for Larry Oliver "Pete" Byrd of Spencer, who died April 4, 2006, at his home, was held Friday at Community Funeral Service chapel with Charles R. Tomlinson officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park.
Pallbearers were Arnold Adkins Jr., Nathan Adkins, Bryan Byrd, Keith Adkins, Ricky Byrd and Kevin Byrd.

Daniel W. Deal
The funeral for Daniel Wayne Deal, 39, of Patrick Springs, who died April 5, 2006, at his home will be held at 2 p.m. today at Bassett Funeral Service chapel with the Rev. Arnold Terry officiating. Burial will be in the County Line Church of God of Prophecy cemetery.
He was born August 22, 1966, in Martinsville to Daniel Deal and Willmer Deal of Bassett.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harrison Deal, Berta Deal, Willie Biggs and Lelia Biggs.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Virginia Lee Deal of Martinsville; a sister, Mary Woods of Patrick Springs; and a niece and nephews.
He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Bassett.
Bassett Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.

Charlie G. Foster
The funeral for Charlie G. Foster, 51, of Patrick Springs who died April 6, 2006, was held Saturday at Bassett Funeral Service chapel with the Rev. Bud Sedwick officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Hank Daniels, Wayne Clark, Mike Cassell, Alfred Guynn, Mike Clark and Kenny Clark.

J. C. Goard
J. C. Goard, 61, of Blue Ridge Nursing Center, and formerly of VFW Road in Patrick Springs, died Friday, April 7, 2006.
He was born August 30, 1944, in Patrick County to Lucy Arnder Goard, of Blue Ridge Nursing Center and the late Tommy Goard. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by three brothers, Eugene Goard, George Goard and Larry Goard.
In addition to his mother, surviving are two brothers, Ray and Pete Goard, both of Patrick Springs; and two sisters, Myra Reeves of Henry and Peggy Fleeman of Galax.
He attended Patrick Springs Church of God of Prophecy.
The graveside funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Goard family cemetery in Patrick Springs with Pastor Dale Bailey officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. today at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
Memorials may be made to the Patrick Springs Church of God of Prophecy Building Fund, c/o Barbara Rakes, 316 First Southern Drive, Patrick Springs, Va. 24133.

Charles E. Higgins
The funeral for Charles E. Higgins, 62, of 1895 J.S. Holland Road, Ridgeway, who died, April 2, 2006, was held Saturday at Horsepasture Christian Church with Ministers John Richardson, David Cuthbertson, David Hileman and Brandon Beauchamp officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Darryl Holland, Larry Holland, Richard Gearhart, Bob Vartenisian, John Vartenisian, Michael Higgins, Tim Bates and Tim Lawrence.
Memorial contributions may be made to Fairlawn Church of Christ, c/o Eddy King, 344 Coleman Ridge Road, Galax, Va. 24333 or to Suntrust Bank, c/o Eddy King.
Norris Funeral Services and Crematory was in charge of the arrangements.

N. Patsy Hopkins
Nora "Patsy" Hopkins, 63, of 714 Indian Trail, Martinsville, and formerly of Lynchburg, died Thursday, April 6, 2006, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
She was born Aug. 16, 1942, in Wytheville, to Bascom Eugene Hopkins and Nora Elise Grubb Hopkins, both deceased.
She graduated from Pulaski High School and Virginia Intermont College and was vice president of the Claremont Corporation of Pulaski. She retired from Wachovia Bank.
While in Lynchburg, she was active in various clubs and organizations and did volunteer work at Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was active in the Women's Circle at Peakland United Methodist Church and after coming to Martinsville joined the First United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Yvonne Clark Givens of Martinsville; one grandson; two step-granddaughters; and several aunts and uncles.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today at the First United Methodist Church in Martinsville with Pastor Ron Mateer officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund, 146 East Main St., Martinsville, Va. 24112.

Rosa P. Law
ROCKY MOUNT Ñ Rosa Catherine Powell Law, 85, of Rocky Mount, died Wednesday, April 5, 2006.
She was born April 1, 1921, in Franklin County to Walter L. Powell Sr. and Mae W. Powell, both deceased. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Law; and a sister, Florence Altice.
She was a lifelong member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, a charter member of United Methodist Women, and she had taught Sunday school and served on various church committees. Law worked as a librarian in Franklin County for a number of years, retiring in 2004.
Surviving are four children, Paige L. Renick, Angie L. Weddle, Betty L. Wadkins and Leonard H. Law; sisters and brothers, Walter L. Powell Jr., Ruth P. Lazenby, Ethel P. Stanley, Elsie P. Wigington, Jeanetta P. Prillaman, Marvin Powell, John Powell and Douglas Powell; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law and other relatives in Henry County.
The funeral was held Saturday at Flora Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Kay Marsh officiating. Burial was in Franklin Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o Angie L. Weddle, treasurer, 2300 McNeil Mill Road, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151.

Gary S. Lawrence
The funeral for Gary Samuel Lawrence, 45, of 355 Old Liberty Road, Martinsville, who died April 2, 2006, was held Saturday at Norris Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Dr. James Dickerson officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park.
Pallbearers were Burr Fox, Pete Scouras, Craig Marshall, Edwin Penn, Meredith Muscatello, Lee Eanes, Jay Byrd, Mike Sirt, Kirk Smith, Michael Wooldridge and Jay Wooldridge.
Memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scout Troop No. 326, c/o Broad Street Christian Church, 106 Broad Street, Martinsville, Va. 24112 or to Piedmont Community Services, 24 Clay Street, Martinsville, Va. 24112.
