Lonzo P. Nolen
BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Lonzo P. Nolen, 91, of 201 Scholes Street, Brooklyn, died Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Brooklyn.
He was born January 25, 1915 in Virginia to Andy Governor Nolen and Lucy Via Nolen, both deceased.
He was an Army veteran and was retired from the construction field.
Surviving are three brothers, Bobbie "Dee" Nolen and Johnnie Nolen, both of Stuart, Va., and Elder Billie Nolen of Hardy, Va.; two sisters, Ruth Cromwell of Martinsville, Va. and Minnie Woods of Bassett, Va.; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Only Way Church of Jesus Christ in Eleamville, Va. Burial will be in the Nolen family cemetery in Woolwine, Va. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
Stanfield Mortuary in Rocky Mount, Va. is in charge of the arrangements.

Virginia D. Oakes
Virginia Ida Doss Oakes, 87, formerly of Penhook, died Friday, April 7, 2006, at Blue Ridge Rehab in Martinsville.
She was born May 8, 1918, in West Virginia to Claude B. Doss and Lera Perdue Doss, both deceased. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, George Washington Oakes; her brother, Harry Doss; a sister, Pauline Roberts; and a great-grandchild, George Pietrantozzi.
She was a homemaker, taught 4-H extension classes, was a member of NCHAA, Fairystone Campers Association and the Ladies Auxiliary of the United Commercial Travelers. She was a member of Mount Olivet Christian Church.
Surviving are a son, Harold Oakes of Penhook; a sister, Geneva Joyce of Madison, N.C.; and a granddaughter.
The graveside funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Roselawn Burial Park with the Rev. J.D. Harmon officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2 p.m. Monday at Roselawn Chapel funeral home.

Lisa A. Pack
The funeral for Lisa Ann Pack, 19, of Lawsonville, N.C., who died April 3, 2006, was held Friday at True Gospel Baptist Church with the Rev. J.R. Shelton officiating. Burial was in Aaron's Corner cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jerry Pack, Kristian Black, Tommy Taylor, Clyde Crissman, Bryant Blake, Gary Pack, Charlie Boyd and Junior Tate.
Moody Funeral Home in Stuart was in charge of arrangements.

Ralph C. Sutton
Ralph Conrad Sutton, 68, of Charlotte, N.C., and formerly of Martinsville, died Friday, April 7, 2006, at his home.
Arrangements will be announced by Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home.

Dorothy D. Walker
Dorothy Dodson Walker, 77, of 1151 East Church Street, Apt. 33A, Martinsville, died Friday, April 7, 2006, at her home.
She was born July 28, 1928, in Henry County to Willie Dodson and Martha Ann Draper Dodson, both deceased. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dodson; four brothers, James Dodson, Rucker Dodson, Robert Dodson and Douglas Dodson; and three sisters, Marie Goins, Martha Whiteside and Edna Spencer.
She was a homemaker and member of Greater Cannan Land Church.
Surviving are her daughter, Ardelia W. Thurston of Martinsville; two sons, Roderick Dodson of Jamacia, N.Y. and Robert Walker Jr. of Middletown, Conn.; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Stanfield-Miller Funeral Home chapel with Bishop Raymond Bennett officiating. Burial will be in the Dodson family cemetery. The family will receive friends for one-half hour before the service Tuesday and other times at the home of her daughter, Ardelia Thurston, 1048 Oak Street, Martinsville.

William L. Wimbush
William L. Wimbush, 67, of 7751 Red Robin Lane, Houston, Texas, died Friday, April 7, 2006, at Memorial Herman Hospital in Houston.
Hairston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lori P. Borbas
Lori Kay Pocock Borbas, 45, of 1007 Jefferson Circle, Martinsville, died Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
She was born in Canton, Ohio, on June 22, 1960, to George R. Pocock of Mathews and Marilyn Pocock-Embrey of Fredericksburg.
She was a social worker and was of the Presbyterian faith. She graduated from East Tennessee State University with a bachelor's degree.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her husband, Patrick M. Borbas of the home; a daughter, Emily Borbas of the home; a son, Patrick Borbas of the home; a sister, Stephanie Trainor of Fredericksburg; a brother, George R. "Chip" Pocock of Whitsett, N.C.; a stepmother, Linda Pocock of Mathews; and a stepfather, Buddy Embrey of Fredericksburg.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Norris Funeral Services chapel with Minister Alan L. Vaughan officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Emily and Patrick Borbas, c/o BB&T Bank, 1 Elsworth St., Martinsville, Va. 24112.

Doris H. Clodfelter
Doris Hamilton Clodfelter, 78, of 802 Ainsley St., Martinsville, died Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at the home of her son, Steve Clodfelter, of Bassett.
She was born on July 16, 1927, to Joseph Hamilton and Bertha Moore Hamilton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Thaddus B. Clodfelter, and an infant son.
She retired from Bassett-Walker Knitting Mill and, along with her husband, managed apartments in Emerald Isle, N.C. She was a member of One Accord Baptist Church.
Surviving, in addition to her son, are a granddaughter; two step-granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; a brother, J.P. Hamilton of Denton, N.C.; a sister, Nell Martin of Denton; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Community Funeral Services chapel with the Rev. Phillip Woods officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at the home of her son, Steve, 500 Mrs. Turner Road, Bassett, Va. 24055.

W. David Martin
The funeral for W. David Martin, 61, of Martinsville, who died April 15, 2006, was held Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Martinsville with Dr. Dennis Knight officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park with military honors and a flag presentation by the Martinsville-Henry County Veterans Honor Guard.
Pallbearers were Don Pitts, Steve Ray, William Thompson, Jerry Ward, Frankie Nance and Bill Moyer.
Norris Funeral Services and Crematory was in charge of arrangements.

Gloria H. Cheeley
The graveside service for Gloria Jean Hankins Cheeley, 61, formerly of Henry County, who died in Laurel, Md., was held Thursday at County Line Christian Church cemetery with the Rev. Dean Ashby officiating.
Pallbearers were S.T. Fulcher Jr., Phillip Woods, Dale Wilson, Darrell Lawson and Todd Turner.
Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Daniel Sowers
Daniel Ray Sowers, infant son of Darrell Lynwood Sowers and Melissa "Pearl" DeGarmo Sowers of 161 Candyland Road, Patrick Springs, died Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
Collins Funeral Services in Bassett will announce arrangements.
