Kestner

Graham E. Kestner, age 81, of Saltville, died Saturday, May 24, 1997 in Valley Health Care Center, Chilhowie.

He was a former employee of Olin Corporation and retired from his mining business.

Survivors include two sons, Dale Kestner, Saltville, and Arlin Kestner, Prince George; one daughter, Francis Loretta (Kestner) Gordon, Saltville; one sister, Maryland "Sis" McElraft, Saltville; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, in D.R. Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Briggs and the Rev. Benny Frye officiating. Burial was in Mount Rose Cemetery.

D.R. Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville was in charge of arrangements.

McMillian

Calvin Greek McMillian Jr., age 64, of Independence, died Thursday, May 22, 1997 in Twin County Regional Hospital, Galax.

He was born Sept. 8, 1932 at Grayson County, the son of Calvin Greek McMillian Sr. and Bessie Valentine McMillian.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Thompson McMillian; five sisters, Aretta Garrett, Sugar Grove, Margarette Valentine, Independence, Yvonne Lewis, Radford, Wilma Woodward, Trenton, N.J., and Donna Lee Richardson, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; one brother, Joe Robert McMillian, Sheridan, Wyo., several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 27, at 11 a.m. in Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Raymond Brown, the Rev. Fred E. Jennings and the Rev. Curtis Wolfe officiating. Interment followed in Oak Grove Cemetery. military rites were conducted by Grayson County VFW Post 7726. Memorial contributions may be made to Independence Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 607, Independence, VA 24348.

Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in Independence was in charge of arrangements.

Obregon

Dr. Fausto Obregon, age 77, died Monday, May 26, 1997 in the Wellmont Hospice House, Bristol, Tenn.

Survivors and funeral arrangements will be announced later by Seaver- Brown Funeral Service.

Rosenbaum

Mary Grubb Rosenbaum, age 74, died Wednesday, May 21,1997 in the Francis Marion Manor Nursing Home.

Mrs. Rosenbaum was born in Wythe County, but lived in Marion for most of her life. She was a member of the Ebenezer Lutheran Church and was the co-owner of Rosenbaum T.V.

Surviving are her husband, James Edward Rosenbaum, Marion; two sisters, Lillian Kate Epperley, Rescue, and Warena Bell Morefield, Orlando, Fla.; one brother and sister-in-law, James and Rozelle Grubb, Galax; three sisters-in-law, Gladys Grubb, Great Falls, Mont., Louise Grubb, Pulaski, and Cecille Rosenbaum, Charlotte, N.C.; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, May 23, at 11 a.m. in the Ebenezer Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jim Bangle officiating. Burial followed in the New Bethel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ebenezer Lutheran Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1799, Marion, VA 24354.

Barnett's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Walsh

Virginia Freeman Walsh, age 69, died Monday, May 26, 1997 in Richmond.

Survivors include her husband, T.V. Walsh, Richmond; one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Walsh and Eddie Collin, Richmond; one grandson, James Vernon Coe, Richmond; one sister, Ellen Freeman, Marion; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted today, May 28, at 12:30 p.m. at Woody Funeral Chapel in Richmond. Burial will follow in Richmond. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Marion.

Wyrick

Maude McClure Wyrick, age 96, died Thursday, May 22, 1997 in Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon.

She was the widow of Howard A. Wyrick.

Survivors include two sons, Charles R. Wyrick and Robert E. Wyrick, both of Glade Spring; one daughter, Mrs. Everette (Katherine) Kress, Chilhowie; one sister, Mrs. Florence Love, Chilhowie; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 25, in Mount Rose Cemetery, Glade Spring, with the Rev. Thomas B. Sullivan Jr. officiating.

Williams Funeral Home in Chilhowie was in charge of arrangements.

Jackson

Glen H. Jackson, age 64, of Saltville, died Wednesday, May 28, 1997 in Bristol Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include two brothers, Dale Jackson, Tannersville, and Ervin Jackson, Saltville; three sisters, Roxie Davenport, Tannersville, Stella Jackson and Sylvie Woodward, both of Saltville; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, May 30, in D.R. Henderson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Franklin Chapman and the Rev. Clarence Frye officiating. Burial was in Elizabeth Cemetery.

Obregon

Dr. Fausto Obregon, age 77, died Monday, May 26, 1997 in the Wellmont Hospice House, Bristol, Tenn.

Dr. Obregon, General Surgeon, was born in Mexico City, Mexico. He lived in Los Angeles, Calif., for about five years where he attended primary school. He then returned to Mexico City where he attended high school, college and medical school.

After medical school and his internship in Mexico City, he practiced medicine and surgery in Chiapas, Mexico for three years. He then came to the United States where he took part in a rotary internship in New York City for one year as well as a residency in general surgery for four years. This residency included anesthesia training. Once more he returned to Mexico City, practicing medicine, general surgery and anesthesia for a period of two years.

In 1958, Dr. Obregon returned to the United States, specifically to Roanoke at the Lewis Gale Hospital where he performed Emergency Care Anesthesia for a period of one year. In 1960, he moved to Marion and engaged in a general practice as well as obstetrics and general surgery at Smyth County Community Hospital until 1974. Dr. Obregon moved to Mountain City, Tenn., in 1974 where he practiced general surgery until his retirement in 1988.

Dr. Obregon was preceded in death by a son, Ernie Obregon.

He is survived by his wife, Libby Obregon of Marion; three daughters, Mary Woodlief of Richmond, Rosa Diring of Norfolk, and Dalia Obregon of Mouth of Wilson; one son, Fausto Obregon Jr., Marion; six grandchildren, Christopher Long, Michael Woodlief, Veronica Scott, Susan Woodlief, Mattie Obregon and Maya Diring; two great-grandchildren, Chelsea Long and Charlie Long; a special niece, Jennifer Renee Fishel.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 30, at 2 p.m. at Seaver- Brown Chapel with Father Bob Krenick and Rev. Mr. Harry Hall officiating. Burial followed in Rose Lawn Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the North East Tennessee Chapter, Alzheimer's Association, 207 North Boone St., Suite 1050, Johnson City, Tenn. 37604 or to the Hospice of your choice.

Seaver- Brown Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Patrick

William H. (Pat) Patrick, age 70, of Madison Heights, died Tuesday, May 27, 1997 in Lynchburg General Hospital after a long illness.

Born in Saltville, he was the son of the late Roy Patrick and Gussie Lester Patrick. He was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church and a retired truck driver for Burlington Industries. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Magnolia Haulsee Patrick; one son and daughter-in-law, William (Joe) and Debra Patrick of Lynchburg; two daughters and sons-in-law, Bianca (Binky) and Donny Murphy of Kinston, N.C., and Freda and James Davis of Madison Heights; seven grandchildren: Carli Jo Patrick, Lynchburg; Troy Pennington, Newbern, N.C.; Genal Murphy, Kinston, N.C.; Justin Neighbors, Tabatha Neighbors, Robert Davis and Felicia Davis, all of Madison Heights; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, May 30, at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. John Robbins officiating. Interment followed at Fort Hill Memorial Park with military honors by American Legion Post 16. Those wishing to make memorial contributions, please consider the Monelison Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 56, Madison Heights, VA 24572.
