Vergie H. Carter
The funeral for Vergie Mae Hazelwood Carter, 98, who died April 25, 2006, at the R.J. Reynolds Patrick Memorial Hospital, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Howell Funeral Home in Patrick Springs. Ministers Bernard Handy and Wayne Moore will officiate. Burial will be at the
Carter family cemetery in Patrick Springs.
She was a resident at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart, and formerly lived in the Wayside community.
She was born in Patrick County on Sept. 21, 1907, to John Robert Hazelwood and Lucinda Lawson Hazelwood. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Carter; a great-grandchild, Brittany Nicole Goad; and two brothers, Moir H. Hazelwood and Mack Preston Hazelwood.
She was a member of High Point Baptist Church.
Surviving are one daughter, Margie Cooper of Stuart; a son, A.C. "Clevis"
Carter of Stuart; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

The funeral for Patricia "Louise" Honaker, 70, of 189 Pleasant Grove Church Road, Martinsville, who died April 25, 2006, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Collins Funeral Chapel in Bassett. Pastor John Shelley will officiate. Burial will be in the cemetery at her homeplace on Pleasant Grove Church Road.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Collins Funeral Services.
She was born in Welch, W.Va., on June 11, 1935. She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Harold Honaker.
Surviving are two sisters, Evelyn Hathaway of Hot Springs Village, Ark. and Nonia McQuay of Kissimmee, Fla.; three nieces; and two nephews.

James Murphy Jr., 68, of Collinsville, died Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.

The funeral for Ruth Helen Setliff Rakes, 72, of Martinsville, who died April 23, 2006, was held Wednesday at Norris Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Rakes officiating. Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery in Ridgeway.
Pallbearers were Michael Martin, Joshua Rakes, Adam Ward, Brian Hodges, Mark Keatts, Josh Stone and Jeff Smith.
Harry L. Redd
The funeral for Henry Lane "Boley" Redd, 66, of Stuart, who died April 23, 2006, was held Wednesday at Moody Funeral Home with Elders James Benton and Walter Scales officiating. Burial was in the Redd family cemetery.
Pallbearers were nephews: James Hines, Hymon Benton, Melton Hylton, Rady Simmons, James Moore and Leonard Reynolds.
Annie L. Shelton
The funeral for Annie L. Shelton, 92, of 123 Reginalds Drive, Martinsville, who died April 23, 2006, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Rock Hill Primitive Baptist Church. Elder Arthur Stockton will officiate. Burial will be in the King family cemetery.
Friends are being received at the home of her niece, Floretta Cahill, 1405 Roundabout Road, Martinsville, and at the church for one half-hour before the funeral.
Surviving are a son, Nathaniel Shelton of Littleton, Colo.

Earnest M. Trotter
ROCKY MOUNT -- Earnest Millard Trotter, 77, of 20 Cooper Road, Rocky Mount, died April 24, 2006, at home.
He was born Feb. 18, 1929; served in the Navy; and retired from Bassett Superior Lines.
Surviving are his wife, Eliza D. Trotter of the home; eight daughters, Sandra Nowlin and Janice Witcher of Rocky Mount, Elizabeth Ann Trotter and Tammy L. Trotter of Ossing, N.Y., Annette Ester and Kathy Preston of Chesapeake, Mary Lambert of Stafford and Angelia Clement of Chesapeake; three sons, Ronnie Trotter of San Francisco, Calif., Earnest Trotter Jr. of Ossing and Morden Preston of Rocky Mount; one brother, Walter Trotter of Rocky Mount; one sister, Gladys
Smith of Collinsville; and a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives.
The funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Stanfield Mortuary Service with Elder Melvin Jamison officiating. Burial will be in the Trotter family cemetery.
Friends are being received at the home and at the funeral home one half-hour before the funeral.
Ada R. Turner
The funeral for Ada Ross Turner, 83, of 2259 Sunset Drive, Bassett, who died April 24, 2006, will be held at 1 p.m. today at Stanfield-Miller Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. John. W. Tinsley officiating. Burial will be in the Turner family cemetery.
The family will receive friends for one-half hour before the service at the chapel and at other times at the home.
Surviving are a daughter, Betty D. Turner of Bassett; two sons, Jasper L. Turner of Bassett and Henry J. Turner of Rocky Mount; two brothers, Raymond Ross of Bassett and Letcher Ross of Buffalo, N.Y.; one sister, Jennie R.
Smith of Bassett; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews.
Ernest Wigington Jr.
GREENSBORO --Ernest Lincoln Wigington Jr., 77, of 5636 North Church St., Greensboro, N.C., died Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at his residence.
He was a native of Rockingham County and retired from Fieldcrest Mill. His wife, Norma Wigington, died in 1989.
Surviving are two sons, John Wigington of Greensboro and Howard Wigington of Martinsville, Va.; two brothers; one sister; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Mountain View Cemetery in Ridgeway, Va.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at George Brothers Funeral Service and other times at the residence.

The funeral for Lelia Anna Flippin Burge, 72, of Claudville, who died May 15, 2006, was held Wednesday at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Elders John Calhoun, Clarence Bowman, Jerry Cox and Rodney Marshall officiating. Burial was in Red Bank Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Denzil Turner, Randy Burge, John Sours, Rondale Ratcliff, Lane Woodall and David Rautio.
