Baldwin

Hazel Blanche Baldwin, 73, of Troutdale, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 1997 at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, Tenn.

She was born April 3, 1924 at Troutdale to John Wilson and Delta Mae Evans Sanders.

Surviving are her husband, Earl Baldwin of the home; one daughter, Betty Sue Baldwin of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Debbie Baldwin, Sugar Grove; one granddaughter, Heather Baldwin, Sugar Grove; one sister, Marie Hayes, Aberdeen, Md.; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Howard and Donna Sanders, Bristol, Paul Sanders, Sugar Grove, and Elder Fielden Sanders, Marion; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, Sept. 1, at 3:30 p.m. in the Troutdale Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Flippin and Elder Ben Blevins officiating. Interment was in Fairwood Cemetery. Flowers will be appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to Sugar Grove Rescue Squad or the American Heart Association.

Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in Independence was in charge of arrangements.

Crusenberry

Harold David Crusenberry, 60, of Charleston, S.C., died Thursday, Aug. 28, 1997 in a Charleston hospital.

He was a native of Saltville, a graduate of William King High School, Abingdon, and Trident Technical School.

He was a member of James Island Christian Church and was a mechanic for Otis Elevator. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Everett Crusenberry.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Crusenberry; two sons, David Crusenberry and Robin Herschel Crusenberry, both of Charleston, S.C.; his mother, Rosa May Haynes Crusenberry, Abingdon; one brother, Roy Clemett, Abingdon; three sisters, Martha Maiden, Nannie Burke and Betty Scott, all of Abingdon.

Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, in McAlister Funeral Home Downtown Chapel. Burial was in Live Oak Memorial Gardens.

McAlister Funeral Home in Charleston, S.C., was in charge of arrangements.

Duty

Jettie Dameron Cook Duty, 76, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 1997 in Smyth County Community Hospital.

She was a member of the Chatham Hill United Methodist Church and was retired from the Brunswick Corporation. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Mindy Centerl Dameron; her brother, John Dameron; her sister, Edna Meadows; her daughter, Irene Cook Steele; her first husband, George Cook Sr.; her second husband, John B. "Bunyan" Duty; her stepdaughter, Fern Duty.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, George F. Jr. and Patsy Cook of Chatham Hill, and Henry "Hank" and Christine Cook, Marion; one daughter and son-in-law, Carol C. and David Woodrum of Marion; three stepdaughters, Nell Woodrum of Grundy, Irene Mason of Chatham Hill and Agnes Mabe of Great Falls, Mont.; one stepson, Billy G. Duty of Grundy; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Samuel Mose Dameron of Pinkerton, Ohio; two sisters, Grace Perkins and Martha Wampler, both of Tazewell.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 2 p.m. at Seaver- Brown Chapel with the Rev. Jack Kincheloe and the Rev. George Mowrey officiating. Burial followed in Ridgedale Cemetery, Rich Valley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chatham Hill United Methodist Church, Rt. 3 Box 286A, Saltville, VA 24370 or to the Saltville Rescue Squad, Drawer D, Saltville, VA 24370.

Seaver- Brown Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Jones

Ossie Mae Wright Jones, 81, of Chilhowie, died Friday, Aug. 29, 1997 in Valley Health Care Center.

She was the widow of James G. Jones and was a member of Madam Russell United Methodist Church in Saltville.

Survivors include one sister, Gladys Greer, Saltville; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, in Elizabeth Cemetery with the Rev. David Mumpower officiating.

D.R. Henderson Funeral Service in Saltville was in charge of arrangements.

Baldwin

Mary Ida Grinstead Baldwin, age 76, of Chilhowie, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 1997 in the Smyth County Community Hospital.

She was the widow of Roy Baldwin and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include two sons, Dennis Kell, Troutdale, and Kenneth Kell, Marion; six daughters, Janice Gentry, Norma Moses, both of Seven Mile Ford, Jo Ann McCloud, Chilhowie, Rose Marie Osborne, Wanda Crewey, and Barbara Sword, all of Marion; 22 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5, in Williams Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Rolen and the Rev. Neville Mozingo officiating. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery.

Williams Funeral Home in Chilhowie was in charge of arrangements.

Hall

Ralph E. (Happy) Hall, age 70, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 1997 in Virginia Beach.

Mr. Hall was a native of Saltville and had resided in Virginia Beach since 1951. He was a retired Real Estate salesman and builder. He was a member of Faith Temple Church in Norfolk.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Louise Hayden Hall; one daughter, Barbara Hall Maggi and husband Donald, Virginia Beach; one son, Harry V. Hall and wife Mary Jo, Virginia Beach; four grandchildren, Daniel and Matthew Maggi, Rachael and Catherine Hall, all of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Jeanette Hicks of Chesapeake, and Evelyn Walls Herndon, Saltville.

Graveside services were conducted Thursday, Sept. 4, at 11 a.m. at Rosewood Memorial Gardens in Virginia Beach with the Rev. William G. Beagle officiating.

Holloman Brown Funeral Home in Virginia Beach was in charge of arrangements.

Lefler

David Lee Lefler, age 59, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 1997 at his home in Marion.

Mr. Lefler was a lifelong resident of Marion and was a retired employee of the Town of Marion. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Lefler.

Survivors include his wife, Stella Lefler; three sons, James Lefler, Ronald Lefler, and David Lefler, all of Marion; three sisters, Virginia Firestone, Mobile, Ala., Mildred Harris and Betty Davidson, both of Marion; four brothers, William Lefler, Ray Lefler and Wick Lefler, all of Marion, and Lewis Lefler, Chilhowie; three stepdaughters; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Sept. 7, at 2 p.m. in Barnett's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Neville Mozingo and the Rev. Herman Cress officiating. Interment will follow in Round Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Barnett's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Taylor

Eleanor Grace Lawson Taylor, age 76, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 1997 at her home in Abingdon.

She was a native of and had lived in North Holston before she and her husband were transferred by the Olin Chemical Corp. to Cleveland, Tenn., in 1961, and after retirement, moved to Abingdon.

She was a charter member of both the Riverview Presbyterian Church, Saltville, and the Northside Presbyterian Church, Cleveland, Tenn.

Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by one daughter, Cleo McAllister, and two brothers, R.L. "Bobby" Lawson and Jimmy Lawson.

Survivors include her husband, Robert H. Taylor Sr.; one daughter, Cora Sue Taylor Thayer, Abingdon; one son, Robert H. Taylor Jr., Abingdon; one brother, Bill Lawson, Manassas; two sisters, Dorothy Thomas, Radford, and Peggy McCready, Glade Spring; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, Sept. 6, in D.R. Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chris Lingerfelt and the Rev. Wayne Parsons officiating. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Riverview Presbyterian Church, Saltville, or Northside Presbyterian Church, Cleveland, Tenn.

D.R. Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville is in charge of arrangements.
