Price

James R. Price, 59, of Saltville, died Saturday, Nov. 21, 1997 in Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon.

He was a lifetime resident of Washington County and a former employee of Moss Trucking Company.

Survivors include his wife, Edith Helton Price; two sons, Charles B. Price and Kelvin B. Price, both of Saltville; seven brothers: Charles Price, Bobby Price, Melvin Price, Ralph Price, J.D. Price, Daniel Price and Franklin Price, all of Saltville, and Eugene Price, Glade Spring; two sisters, Lucille Harper, Paducah, Ky., and Rosa Sykes, Lebanon; two grandchildren: Christopher and Emily Price; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, in D.R. Henderson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bill Delp and the Rev. Curtis Duff officiating. Burial was in Mt. Rose Cemetery.

D. R. Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville was in charge of arrangements.

Rymer

JoAnn Rymer, 66, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 1997 in Smyth County Community Hospital. She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Everett Medley and mother, Cordie Hutton Medley.

Years ago she loved to sing hymns and was a singer in a Baptist church.

She is survived by her son, Michael Rymer of Marion.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 23, at 1:30 p.m. at Seaver- Brown Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Poston and the Rev. Jerry Alley officiating. A private burial followed in Round Hill Cemetery in Marion.

Seaver- Brown Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Taylor

Helen Nevada Taylor, 69, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 1997 at the Francis Marion Manor Nursing Home.

Survivors include three daughters, Rebecca Jean Cornett, Marion; Debra Lynn Taylor, Raleigh, N.C., and Helen Faye Simpson, Florida; two sons, Walter James Taylor, Chilhowie, and Kenneth Lee Taylor, Dryden; four sisters, Violet Slagle, Konnarock, Joy Williams and Peggy Harris, both of Marion, and Lilly Carney, Eagle Pont, Ore.; two brothers, Gene Wymer, and Robert Wymer, both of Marion; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held today, Nov. 26, at 11 a.m. in Barnett's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Neville Mozingo and Rev. James Porter officiating. Interment followed in Roundhill Cemetery.

Barnett's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Adams

Retta Louvina Elizabeth Haga Adams, 92, of Chilhowie, died Monday, Nov. 24, 1997 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Juanita Yates.

She is survived by five daughters: Clyde Bernice Thweatt, Marion; Beulah Virginia Branson, Margaret June Hayden, and Reva Mildred Holley, all of Chilhowie; and Elsie Ann Cruey, Prince George; four sons: Melvin R. Adams, Abingdon; Charles R. Adams and Ronald Lee Adams, both of Chilhowie; and James T. Adams, Independence; 27 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 26, at Newberry Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Jess Higgins officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Clair Bottom Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Newberry Funeral Home in Chilhowie is in charge of arrangements.

Glick

William Gerald Glick, 49, died Monday, Nov. 24, 1997 at his home in Atkins.

Mr. Glick was a native of Jewell Ridge and had been living in Smyth County for over 15 years. He worked as a coal miner and dairyman.

He was a member of the Church of God on Matson Drive in Marion.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Glick, Atkins; one son, Shawn Glick, Atkins; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Earl (Betty) Kennedy, and Mr. and Mrs. Junior (Fran) Gross, all of War, W.Va.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Marshall and Ann Glick, Hurley, and Allen and Pearl Glick, Jewell Ridge; his mother- and father-in-law, Walter and Ivalee White, Bland; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and one great-great-niece.

Funeral services will be held today, Nov. 26, at 2 p.m. in the Church of God on Matson Drive in Marion with the Rev. Jerry Alley and the Rev. Jonathan King officiating. Interment will follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery.

Barnett's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Bland

William M. "Billy" Bland, age 68, of Elk Creek, and Durham, N.C., died Monday, Nov. 24, 1997 at his home in Durham.

He was born Sept. 14, 1929 at Comers Rock to Glenn C. and Sibble Comer Bland. He was a life member of Missile Space and Range Pioneers, a life member and former officer of Grayson County Historical Society, and was a retired IBM Advisory Engineer.

For many years, Mr. Bland was a licensed private pilot and flew off and on for 46 years. He was on the Board of Directors for the Comer's Creek Foundation. He worked on the Apollo/Saturn Program at Kennedy Space Center through almost all program flights.

Mr. Bland was a member of Comer's Rock Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Carol F. Bland, Durham, N.C.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Amelia Bland and Joe Beaty, Marion, and Karen and Paul Harris, Raleigh, N.C.; four grandchildren, Benjamin Bland Halsey and William Bland Beaty, both of Marion, and Kathryn Marie Cooper and Summit M. Harris, both of Raleigh, N.C.; one brother, Gerald Bland, Tacoma, Wash.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, Nov. 28, at 8 p.m. at Cliffview Church of God, Galax, with the Rev. D.G. Fox, the Rev. Rick Eminhizer and the Rev. Jimmy Harmon officiating. Interment will follow today, Nov. 29, at 2 p.m. at Comer's Rock Cemetery in Comers Rock. Flowers will be appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to Twin County Hospice, P.O. Box 70, Galax, VA 24333.

Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Inc., Independence, is in charge of arrangements.

Carter

Betty William Carter, age 63, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 1997 at her home in Danville.

She was a native of Glade Spring and was the widow of Jimmy Ray Carter.

She was retired from DuPont and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include one son, Walter Blake Carter, Danville; five sisters, Lois Gayler and Carolyn Keesee, both of Glade Spring, Evelyn Musselwhite, Memphis, Tenn., Dotty Taylor, Richmond, and Rita Colley, Morristown, Tenn.; two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held today, Nov. 29, in Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel in Danville.

Hunt

Earnest "Matthew" Hunt, age 53, of Glade Spring, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 1997 in Duke University Hospital, Durham, N.C.

He was a deacon and song leader in Little Flock Holiness Church for over 15 years.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Compton Hunt; two daughters and one son-in-law, Glenda and Dennis Dempsey, Glade Spring, and Lisa Hunt of the home; three brothers, Curtis Hunt and Franklin Hunt, both of Saltville, and Dewey Hunt, Morganton, N.C.; four sisters, Dorie Pruitt, Bristol, Tenn., Claudia McMahan, Chilhowie, Katie Smith, Saltville and Lizzie Wyatt, Glade Spring; one grandson, Gabriel Dempsey; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 29, in D.R. Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Stanley and the Rev. Roger O'Quinn officiating. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery.
