Wade Price, age 96, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997 in Frances Marion Manor Nursing Home.
Mr. Price was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by his wife, Lelia Dunivan Price.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 11, at 1 p.m. at Seaver-
Brown Chapel with the Rev. Kenny Price and the Rev. Donald Harrington officiating. A viewing and committal service followed at 3:30 p.m. at the Helton Valley Baptist Church in the Mt. Rogers Community with the Rev. Rex Hall officiating. Private burial followed in the Cole Cemetery in Whitetop.

Shelton
The Rev. Dallas Josiah Shelton, age 86, of Chilhowie, died Monday, Dec. 8, 1997 in Smyth County Community Hospital.
He was a preacher, pastor and evangelist of the Pentecostal Holiness faith for over 60 years.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Shelton; one daughter, Eva Petree, Hopewell; one stepdaughter, Judy Arnold, Chilhowie; one stepson, J.C. Shepherd, Abingdon; one brother, W.J. "Willie" Shelton, Chilhowie; one sister, Susie Hockett, Alexandria; five grandchildren; five-great-grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; four step-grandsons; one step-great-grandson; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, in Little Flock Holiness Church with the Rev. Bruce Shelton, the Rev. Don Stanley and the Rev. Paul Stanley officiating. Burial was in Mount Rose Cemetery.

Sheppard
Alice Emaline Sheppard, age 85, of Glade Spring, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997 in Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon.
She was a native of Saltville, a member of Plasterco Church of God and a member of Senior Citizens, Saltville.
She was the widow of Edward Sheppard and was also preceded in death by one son, Robert Sheppard.
Survivors include one son, Willie Sheppard, Abingdon; six daughters, Margaret Puckett, Manassas, Mary Chapman and Josephine Frye, both of Saltville, Anna Bell Williams, Wichita, Kansas, Gladys Becker, Glade Spring, and Elizabeth Reedy, Chilhowie; one brother, Henry Urbani, Abingdon; 21 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a special daughter-in-law, Marge Sheppard.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, Dec. 12, at 11 a.m. in D.R. Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sherman Fields, the Rev. J.L. DeBord, and the Rev. Joel Slemp officiating. Burial was in Mount Rose Cemetery.

Willard
Estelle C. Willard, age 93, of Rural Retreat, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997 in the Birdmont Health Care Center in Wytheville.
Mrs. Willard was born in Crockett, the daughter of the late Sanders and Elizabeth Umbarger Copenhaver. She was a member of the Kimberlin Lutheran Church and was the widow of Dewey R. Willard. She was preceded in death by one son, Franklin W. Willard.
She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Luella Willard, Gray, Tenn., and Joan and J.R. Whalen, Rural Retreat; one son and daughter-in-law, Albert R. and Brenda Willard, Wytheville; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held today, Dec. 13, at 2 p.m. at the Lindsey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Edward Schaack and the Rev. Harry Howe officiating. Interment will follow in the Kimberlin Lutheran Church Cemetery in Rural Retreat.

Blevins
Ressie H. Blevins died Saturday, Dec. 13, 1997 in Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon.
She was a native of Ashe County, N.C., had lived in the
Green Cove community for most of her life and was a member of
Green Cove Baptist Church where she served as a clerk for the church for many years.
She was the widow of Charles M. Blevins. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Hurley Blevins and Jackie Blevins.
Survivors include three daughters, Aleese Trivett, Konnarock, Relma McMinn, Hendersonville, N.C., and Clara Jean Necessary, Warrenton; five sons, Avon R. Blevins, Fairfax, J.R. Blevins, Woodbridge, Carroll Blevins, Damascus, Kyle "Eddie" Blevins, Marshall, and Earl Scott Blevins, Catlett; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Green Cove Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles E. "Jody" Blevins and the Rev. T.A. Pennington officiating. Burial was in

Ella Miller Broyles, age 90, widow of Kent Broyles, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 1997 in Smyth County Community Hospital.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Dwane and Sarah Broyles of Spartanburg, S.C.; three grandchildren, Cynthia Powell, Dottie Broyles, both of Spartanburg, S.C., and Caroline Broyles of Columbia, S.C.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 15, at 2 p.m. at Seaver-
Brown Chapel with the Rev. James Pollock officiating. Burial followed in Rose Lawn Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 115 S. Church St., Marion, VA 24354.

Buchanan
Florence H. (Lil) Buchanan died Saturday, Dec. 13, 1997 at her home in Marion.
Mrs. Buchanan was a native of Washington County and had lived most of her life in Smyth County. She retired from Marley Mouldings with over 27 years of service.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, George Buchanan; one daughter and son-in-law, Harold and Patricia Crook, Marion; two sons, Harold Hess and Glenn Buchanan, both of Marion; one brother, Roger Hess, Marion; one sister, Ann Barr, Perryville, Md.; two grandchildren, Tony and Tammy Hess; two great-grandchildren, Angel and Josh Hess; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, at Barnett's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Sage officiating. Interment followed in Roselawn Cemetery.

Burkett
Charlie Otis Burkett, age 89, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 1997 in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
Mr. Burkett had lived for more than 80 years in the Rich Valley area of Smyth County where he was a farmer, moving to Abingdon nine years ago. He was a member of United Methodist Church for 60 years and was a Sunday School teacher for 50 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, George W. and Betty Gillespie Burkett. He was the last member of his immediate family.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Surber Burkett; four sons, Dr. Sexton Burkett, Lebanon, Benny Burkett, Wytheville, Bill Burkett, Fairfax, and Curtis Burkett, Abingdon; four daughters, Betty Burkett, Abingdon, Susie Pearl Webb, Bristol, Tenn., Maxine Benson, Blountville, and Patty Shelton, Gray, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, in Ridgedale United Methodist Church in Chatham Hill with the Rev. Joel Campbell and Jack Kincheloe officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to New Cove United Methodist Church, Rt. 3, Saltville, VA 24370.

Brown Byrd Denny, age 92, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 1997 in Smyth County Community Hospital. She was the widow of Emitt S. Denny.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, James C. and Pamela Denny, Chilhowie; one daughter and son-in-law, Olga and Cecil M. Heath, Chilhowie; two sisters, Mattie Mae Smith, Richmond and Kate Graeme Fernley, Nevada; six grandchildren: Ray Heath, Faye Null, Lenora Farris, David Heath, James Ed Denny and Jami Elizabeth Denny; nine great-grandchildren.
