George L. White
George L. White, of 1 East Mary Street, Bristol, Va., died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 1997, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a lifelong resident of Bristol and was an employee of Southwestern State Hospital.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran with 12 years of service and was of the Presbyterian faith.
Survivors include one brother, Otis Murphy, Bristol Virginia; and two aunts, Mrs. Martha White and Mrs. Flora Carter.
Blevins Funeral Home is in charge.

Mary L. Elswick
RICHLANDS, Va. -- Miss Mary L. Elswick, 78, of 109 Royall St., died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 1997, in a Lebanon hospital.
She was a native of Jewell Ridge, and was a lifelong resident of the Richlands and Jewell Ridge area.
She was a former employee of the Clinch Valley Clinic Hospital having worked 30 years before retirement.
She was a member of the Richlands Presbyterian Church with the Ladies Circle.
Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Jacqueline Cole, Bandy, Va., Mrs. Pansy Cole, Richlands, and Mrs. Beatrice Effler, King, N.C.; one brother, Fred Elswick, Abingdon; and several nieces and nephews.
Hurst-Scott Funeral Home, Richlands, is in charge.

Trula B. Godsey
Trula B. Godsey, 81, of Bristol Tennessee, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 1997, at her home.
She was a member of Rosemont Presbyterian Church and a lifelong resident of Bristol.
Survivors include her husband, Lawrence W. Godsey; one daughter, Nadine Myers, Troy, Ohio; and two granddaughters, Andrea Myers and Annette Myers, both of Troy.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge.

Nina Henderson
SALTVILLE -- Mrs. Nina Johnson Henderson, 88, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 1997, in Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion.
She was the widow of John Bill Henderson.
Survivors include six sons, James William Henderson, Newport News, Va., Thomas Gearld Henderson, Boise, Idaho, Charles Houston Henderson, S. Milwaukee, Wis., Rudy Wayne Henderson Sr., Saltville, Garland Leon Henderson and Danny Ray Henderson, both of Marion; four daughters, Jean Henderson Morse, Westminster, Calif., Sheila Henderson DeBord, Saltville, Linda Henderson McElroy, Honesdale, Pa., and Diane Henderson Allison, LaPorte, Texas; one sister, Venida Johnson Wyatt, Rocky Gap; 26 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
D.R. Henderson Funeral Home, Saltville, is in charge. Arrangements are incomplete.

Lloyd H. Mason
CHILHOWIE -- Lloyd Hill Mason, 82, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 1997, in Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cindy Martin Mason.
He was a member of the Lebanon United Methodist Church, Chilhowie, a veteran of World War II and the recipient of the Purple Heart.
He was a member of the Francis Marion VFW Post No. 4667 and a member of the Chilhowie Mason Lodge No. 250 AF&AM.
Survivors include one brother, Monroe "Bun" Mason, Chilhowie; one sister, Mary Keller, Forest Hill Md., and several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.
Williams Funeral Home, Chilhowie, is in charge.

Kevin E. Owens
ABINGDON -- Kevin Eric Owens, 29, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 1997, at his home.
He was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Va., and a 1985 graduate of Patrick Henry High School. He had attended Virginia Highlands Community College in 1987.
He was a member of the Lebanon United Methodist Church, and had formerly been a courier with Nations Bank. He was currently a security guard for Westinghouse Electric Corporation.
Survivors include his parents, Raymond "Mick" and Janice Owens, Abingdon; one brother, Joe R. Owens, Abingdon; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Ada Russell, Duffield, Va.; his paternal grandfather, Joe Owens, Glade Spring, Va.; and one nephew.
Farris Funeral Service is in charge.

Patsy M. Rogers
PALMDALE, Calif. -- Mrs. Patsy McKee Rogers, 69, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 1997.
She was a native of Chilhowie.
Survivors include her husband, Clark Rogers; two daughters, Ruth Rogers Hudson, Los Angeles, Calif., and Mary Rogers, Palmdale; one brother, Thomas Glenn McKee Sr., Chilhowie; one niece; two nephews; and six great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral and burial will be in Palmdale.

Eddie L. Sexton
TACOMA, Va. -- Eddie Larry Sexton, 45, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 1997, in St. Mary's Hospital, Norton.
He attended the Tacoma Holiness Christian Church of God.
Survivors include his mother, Georgia Sexton, Tacoma; one brother, Gordon A. Sexton, Coeburn; three sisters, Geraldine Carr, Rock Hill, S.C., Alice A. Malone, Coeburn, and Bonnie L. Sexton, Wake, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Sturgill Funeral Home, Coeburn, is in charge.

Russell C. Smith
Russell Calvin Smith, 60, of B-3 Johnson Court Apartments, Bristol, Va., died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 1997, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Glade Spring, and had lived most of his life in the Bristol area.
He attended Douglass School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he earned the National Defense Service Medal.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Virginia Gale Smith; two sons, Anthony Newton and Scott Newton, both of Bristol Virginia; two granddaughters; one sister, Mrs. Peggy S. Polk, Batavia, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
Robinson Mortuary is in charge. Arrangements are incomplete.

William H. Trivett
ABINGDON -- William Hobart Trivett, 90, of West Haven Retirement Village, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 1997, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
He was a member of Grace Baptist Church since 1926, and also a member of Shelby Lodge No. 162 since Dec. 5, 1940.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Tester Trivett.
Survivors include one niece, Ruth Knight, Old Hickory, Tenn.; and two nephews, Fred Cunningham, Bristol Virginia and Glen Trivett, Shelby, N.C.
Akard Funeral Home is in charge.

Webster Vicars
NICKELSVILLE, Va. -- Jarvis Webster Vicars, 73, of Route 1, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 1997, in Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center.
He was a lifelong resident of Scott County and a retired farmer and carpenter.
He attended Sabra Chapel Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lerman Kilgore Vicars.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes Sluss Vicars; two daughters, Mrs. J.D. (Arlena) Winegar, Blountville, and Mrs. Junior (Shirley) Herron, Church Hill; one son, Jarvis Vicars, Nickelsville; two step-sons, Fred L. Sluss, Wytheville, and Don R. Sluss, Richlands; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Joe Vicars, Princeton, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, is in charge.
