Sadie B. Patrick
GLENDORA, Calif. -- Mrs. Sadie Beatrice Patrick, 69, formerly of Cedar Bluff, Va., died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 1997, in a Pomona, Calif, nursing home.
She was a native of Cedar Bluff, and had lived in the Cedar Bluff area most of her life before moving to California one year ago.
Survivors include her husband, Lyle Patrick; one daughter, Mrs. Sam (Wanda) Layton, Glendora; three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Meadows, Belfast, Va., Mrs. Edith Arnold, Clinton, Mass., and Mrs. Dorothy DePratt, Ontario, Calif.; two brothers, Harman Lester, Bandy, Va., and Leon Lester, Mt. Vernon, Ohio; and two grandchildren.
Hurst-Scott Funeral Home, Richlands, is in charge.

Samuel D. Stewart, Sr.
BLOUNTVILLE -- Samuel David Stewart Sr., 76, of 291 Morelock Drive, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 1997, in Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center.
He was a native of Bayleton, Tenn., and had lived most of his life in Sullivan County.
He was retired from Holston Defense Corporation and was a self employed building contractor and an avid farmer.
He served with the U.S. Army and was a member of Liberty Independent Church.
Survivors include his wife, June Ketron Stewart; two daughters, Diane White and Sandra Hulse, both of Blountville; two sons, Benny L. Stewart, Bristol Tennessee and Samuel Stewart Jr., Kingsport; three sisters, Frances Rich, Indian Head, Md., Mary Brown, Lakewood, Calif., and Juanita Brewer, Petty, Ore.; one brother, Ira Stewart, Bristol Tennessee; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Blountville Funeral Home is in charge.

John Stidham
BIG STONE GAP -- John Stidham, 83, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 1997, in Lonesome Pine Hospital.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Wise County, Va.
He was a retired coal miner and a member of United Mine Workers of America.
He was a veteran of World War II and served in France, Belgium and Germany. He was also a lifetime member of the Colonel C.H. Hagy Chapter No. 45 of the DAV.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Stidham; one son, Carl Edward Stidham, Big Stone Gap; three daughters, Nell Fannon, Stonega, Va., Doris Wallace and Reba Hammonds, both of Big Stone Gap; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Jettie Williams, Elizabethton.
Holding Funeral Home is in charge.

Mary E. Wolfe
Mary Elizabeth Umberger Wolfe, 87, of Bristol Virginia, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 1997, in Bristol Health Care Center.
She was the widow of Paul A. Wolfe.
She was a graduate of Tennessee High School and Bristol College. She was a medical receptionist for her nephew, Dr. Ellis Harr.
She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. N. Dewayne (Jo Ann Wolfe) Vaughn, Bristol Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
Blevins Funeral Home is in charge.

Mozelle C. Bates
CASTLEWOOD, Va. -- Mozelle Cress Bates, 76, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 1997, in Russell County Medical Center, Lebanon.
She was a native of Russell County, owner and operator of Brook Haven Rest Home, Grassy Creek, and had taught school in Russell County.
Survivors include two daughters, Lakie Cress Austin, Castlewood, and Gloria Cress Dodi, Lebanon; one son, Carter Wayne Cress, Dungannon; eight grandchildren; several foster grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Castlewood Funeral Home is in charge.

Louise R. Bryngelson
INVERNESS, Fla. -- Louise Roberts Bryngelson, of 1030 Belair Drive South, died Friday, Jan. 10, 1997, at her home.
She was a native and long-time resident of Bristol and moved to Florida in 1974.
She was the widow of her first husband, Jack Roberts and was retired from the Bristol Tennessee Water Department.
While living in Bristol, she was a member of Virginia Avenue United Methodist Church.
In Florida, she was a member of First United Methodist Church of Inverness and the Ladies of the Moose of Crystal River, Fla.
Survivors include her husband, Bernard E. Bryngelson; one step-son, Lynn Bryngelson, Bristol Tennessee; one sister, Pearl Cross, Bristol Tennessee; one brother, Fred Barr, Bristol Tennessee; two grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.
Oakley-Cook Funeral Home is in charge.

Selma E. Cartwright
BLOUNTVILLE -- Mrs. Selma Elizabeth Cartwright, 82, of 1650 Highway 37, died Friday, Jan. 10, 1997, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Blountville, and was a member of Blountville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence H. Cartwright Sr.; one daughter, Judy C. Watson, Blountville; two brothers, Paul Phillips, Bluff City, and C.J. Phillips, Kingsport; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Nina J. Cunningham
BLOUNTVILLE -- Nina Jean Cunningham, of Highway 126, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 1997, in Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center.
She was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County and had worked for Burger King in Blountville for the past 61/2 years.
She was a member of Gunnings Baptist Church and was currently working for Arby's in Blountville.
Survivors include her mother and father, Mary Catherine Baker Cunningham and Ervin T. Cunningham; two sisters, Mary Ruth Cunningham, Blountville, and Teresa Rutherford, Bristol Tennessee; one brother, Lynn Cunningham, Bluff City; her maternal grandmother, Bettie Mae Baker, Blountville, and her paternal grandmother, Nina Cunningham, Blountville.
East Lawn Funeral Home is in charge.

Madgie Edwards
CLINTWOOD -- Madgie Edwards, 74, of Route 4, died Friday, Jan. 10, 1997, in Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center, Kingsport.
She was a native of Dickenson County and was a member of the Sumac Grove Primitive Baptist Church for 50 years.
Survivors include her husband, Carson Edwards; five step-sons, Dewey Edwards, Clinchco, Va., Danny Edwards, Kingsport, Donald Edwards, Carol Stream, Ill., Doug Edwards and Neil Edwards, both of Christiansburg, Va.; two step-daughters, Bernice Saliba, Utica, Mich., and Dorothy Mustard, Nickelsville, Va.; two sisters, Celestie Ramey, Route 1, Haysi, and Fay Owens, Clintwood; one brother, Kelver Wiggens, Albany, Ga.; 15 step grandchildren; and eight step-great grandchildren.
Haysi Funeral Home is in charge.

Lois C. Hall
RICHMOND -- Lois C. Hall, 81, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 1997, in Columbia Henrico Doctors Hospital.
She was a member of Ridge Baptist Church, Richmond.
She lived in St. Paul until 1988 where she was a member of First Baptist Church.
She attended Milligan College, and was the widow of O. Neil Hall.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Philip (Anne) Shu, Greensboro, N.C.; one son, Patrick N. Hall, Richmond; one brother, Lowell E. Cagle, Savannah, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Melissa Carpenter, Wilmington, N.C., Jeff Shu, Winston Salem, N.C., and Stacy Shu, Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

Ruth M. Hash
MARION -- Ruth Mozelle Hash, 76, of Wallace Court, Deland, Fla., died Thursday, Jan. 9, 1997, in Mariner Health Care, Orange City.
She was a native of Groseclose, Va. and came to Deland three years ago from Marion, where she had lived for nearly 60 years.
She was the widow of Herman L. Hash.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 4667, Marion.
Survivors include one brother, Marvin L. Waddell, Mercer, Pa.; one son, Richard E. Waddell, Deland; one step-daughter, Joy Bilovus, Orion, Mich; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
