Wise -- Dorothy W. Hibbitts, 70, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 1997, in Wise Appalachian Regional Hospital, Wise.
She was the widow of Avery Hibbitts.
She attended Beverly Hills Tabernacle Church.
Survivors include four sons, Jerry Hibbitts, Fort Myers, Fla., Johnny Hibbitts, Jeff Hibbitts and Tim Hibbitts, all of Wise; three daughters, Jean Collins, Jonell Allen and Jennifer Strange, all of Wise; two brothers, Herbert Webb, Bain Bridge, Ohio and Homer Webb, Beverly, N.J.; one sister, Clara Elkins, East Stone Gap; 20 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Sturgill Funeral Home, Wise, is in charge.

James L. Howard Sr.
DRYDEN -- James L. Howard Sr., 51, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 1997, in Lonesome Pine Hospital, Big Stone Gap, Va.
He was employed by JMACC Processing (formerly Jerico Mining) and was a member of Dryden Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Howard; two sons, James L. Howard Jr. and Timothy Howard, both of Dryden; one daughter, Kimberly Johnson, Chesapeake, Va.; his mother, Ruby Lee Howard, Dryden; two brothers, Bill Howard, Pennington Gap, and Bob Howard Jonesville; and two sisters, Mary H. SusieBaker, Pennington Gap, and Betty Flanary, Tazewell.
Sturgill Funeral Home is in charge.

Robert L. Howell
BAGGS, Wyo. -- Robert Lee "Bobby" Howell, 41, died Monday, Jan. 13, 1997.
He was formerly of Marion, and had lived in Baggs, for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Anita King Howell; two daughters, Barbara Howell and Crystal Howell, both of Baggs; one son, Matthew Howell, Baggs; his mother, Dwade Coe Howell, Chilhowie; three sisters, Dessie Sadler, Chilhowie, Mary Goodman, Marion, and Charlotte Felts, Fries, Va.; three brothers, Dean Howell, Rawlings, Wyo., Charles Howell, Chilhowie, and Duane Howell, Atkins, Va.; and several nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts.
Seaver- Brown Funeral Service is in charge.

J. Fred Lawson
KINGSPORT -- J. Fred Lawson, 69, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 1997, in Wexford House.
He was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County and a self-employed barber working for many years at several Kingsport barber shops.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Robert "Bobby" (Ella) Norris, Clayton, N.C.; seven nieces and nephews; one sister-in-law; and his former wife, Jenny Lawson.
East Lawn Funeral Home is in charge.

Ruth A. Legg
Ruth A. Legg, 87, of 304 Hale St., Bristol, Tenn., died Thursday, Jan. 16, 1997, in Cambridge House.
She was a native of Tacoma, Va., and had lived in the Bristol area for the past 35 years.
She was a nursing assistant at Bristol Regional Medical Center and was of the Baptist faith.
She was the widow of Roy Edward Legg.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Bill (Louise) Cunningham, Bristol, Virginia and Mrs. Robert (Margaret) Winebarger, Indian Beach, N.C.; three sons, Don Legg, Henagar, Ala., and Dale Legg, Andersonville, Tenn., and Doug Legg, Clinton, Tenn.; three sisters, Mary Cole, Bristol, Tennessee, Jessie Seaver, Piney Flats and June Stoffer, Baltimore, Md.; one brother, Harold Seaver, Tocomer, Va.; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge.

Ruby V. McReynolds
ST. PAUL -- Ruby V. Hamilton McReynolds, 78, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 1997 in Russell County Medical Center, Lebanon.
She was a native of Wise County and the widow of Roy McReynolds.
Survivors include three daughters, Clara Mae Hall, Lebanon, Helen Adams, North Wilkesboro, N.C. and Janice Turner, Atlanta, Ga.; two sons, Donald McReynolds and Roy Douglas McReynolds, both of St. Paul; three sisters, Doris Selfe, Bristol, Virginia, Loretta Brickey, Coeburn and Evelyn Ricciardelli, Fort Lauderdale, Fla; two brothers, Brownie Hamilton and Clyde Hamilton, both of Coeburn; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Frances R. Meade
COEBURN -- Frances Roberta Meade, 66, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 1997, in St. Mary's Hospital, Norton.
She was of the Baptist faith and a former employee of One Hour Martinizing in Norton.
Survivors include her husband, W. Wythe Meade; one son, Harold W. Meade, Coeburn; two daughters, Myra M. Sullivan, Coeburn, and Alisa Dawn Bishop, Pennington Gap; her mother, Eliza Riner Carico, Coeburn; one sister, Rose Mary Stugill, Coeburn; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Estes Funeral Home is in charge.

Sylvia A. Quillen
ABINGDON -- Mrs. Sylvia Ann Quillen, 84, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 1997, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
She was a native of Raleigh County, W.Va., who had spent most of her life in Wheelwright, Ky. She had lived in Siler City, N.C., before moving to Abingdon in 1984.
She was a member of Abingdon Baptist Church and was the widow of Charlie Quillen.
Survivors include eight daughters, Frances Horton, Fuquay-Varina, N.C., Betty Gunter, Sanford, N.C., Virginia Porch, Anna Thomas, Gloria Smith and Kay Everage, all of Siler City, N.C., Brenda Strong, Abingdon, and Deborah Richardson, Meadowview; one son, Charles Quillen Jr., Salt Lake City, Utah; one brother, Curtis Cox, Monroe, La.; 25 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Loyall Solomon, retired
superintendent, dead at 93
KINGSPORT -- Loyall Solomon, 93, of 2336 Inglewood Drive, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 1997, in Wexford House.
He was a native of Bulls Gap, Tenn., and had lived in Bristol, Tennessee most of his life.
He retired from the Bristol Herald Courier as a superintendent of the composing room.
He was a member of Mountain View U.M.C. and was past Worthy Master and 50 year member of the King (Bristol) Masonic Lodge No. 0461 F&AM and past Grand Patron and 50 year member of the Border City Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred M. Solomon.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Roy E. (Linda) Dempsey, Kingsport; one son, L.H. Solomon Jr., Savannah, Ga.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ona Flick, Oak Ridge, Evelyn Karakos, Kingsport, and Dorothy Wolfe, Marion; and several nieces and nephews.
Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home is in charge.

Mildred C. Arthur
DANVILLE, Va. -- Mrs. Mildred Hall Cury Arthur, 80, of 251 Allison Drive, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 1997, at the home of her sister, Mabel H. Kilgore.
She was a native of Virginia City and prior to her retirement she was employed as a buyer for Rippe's. Most of her life was spent in Neon, Ky., and Danville, since 1961.
She was a member of the Mosley Memorial United Methodist Church, the Robinson Bennett Chapter of Eastern Star, White Shrine of Jerusalem, and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 647.
She was the widow of her first husband, Thomas B. Cury and her second husband, James T. Arthur.
Survivors include one sister, Mabel H. Kilgore, Danville; three brothers, John D. Hall, San Diego, Calif., Roy Hall, Whitesburg, and Jim Hall, both of Norton; and several nieces and nephews.

Imal J. Cantrell
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Imal Faye Justice Cantrell, 82, formerly of Steele, Ky., died Thursday, Jan. 16, 1997 in the home of her daughter, Nadine Mireles, Grand Rapids.
She was a native of Pike County, Ky. and lived in Pike County several years prior to moving to Michigan.
She was a member of Mill Fork Freewill Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
She was the widow of Clifford Cantrell.
Survivors include four daughters, Shirley Dotson, Paw Paw, Ky., Linda Kinder, Somerset, Ky., Connie Sue Royal, Big Rock, Va., and Nadine Mireles, Grand Rapids; five sons, Danny Cantrell, Hurley, Va., Clifford Cantrell Jr., Orange City, Fla., Bill Cantrell, Napoleon, Ohio, James Cantrell, Lewisburg, Tenn., and Eddie Cantrell, Taylor, Mich.; two sisters, Vivian Justice, Feds Creek, Ky., and Mae Smith, Catlettsburg, Ky.; 26 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
